This is the very first 3, of the Star Wars movies.
Bought it for my husband’s birthday he’s very happy to have them on DVD
Currently on channel 4 and last movie to watch they are ok but I can see why they had mixed reviews still enjoyable to watch
With this box set I’ve got the complete set now.
The Sequel films aren’t perfect but there is far more right about them – in the spirit of Star Wars – than there is wrong. That’s saying a lot, considering a significant part of the plot is virtually derailed between episodes 8 and 9, but there are enough great moments and great performances (Adam Driver in particular) to make for (mostly) extremely fun and dramatic episodes. TFA is the best of the trilogy, with just a couple of scenes I could do without. TLJ is possibly the most divisive Star Wars film with some terrific scenes (such as the throne room battle where it feels like Rey and Kylo could be joining forces) as well as some awful scenes (Canto Byte which is in AOTC territory). TROS IS the least satisfying but it still is a fun movie with many great scenes and a few that feel like outtakes. The Blu Ray box has nice artwork, a very sturdy box and great extras.
PLOT…
It begins thirty years after the ending of Star Wars Episode VI Return of the Jedi and focuses around a conflict between the First Order, a military state and successor to the Galactic Empire, and the Resistance, a military group formed to oppose the First Order and successor to the Alliance to Restore the Republic.
Personally I absolutely love the new trilogy, a fantastic set of movies that re-captures the whole Star Wars childhood magic all over again with wonderful characters, great action packed story, cool fight scenes, amazing special effects and a whole absolute ton of fan service! People need to get over it didn’t work out how they wanted and just enjoy them, The box-set looks amazing, a white hard case with great artwork front and back, the insert folds out with 6 discs, plentiful special features to watch for hours, all three of these sets look amazing in the collection, highly recommend.
All the movies look fantastic in HD.
Region FREE ABC. Running times 138, 152, 142mins. 2015-2019.
English language movies. English subtitles.
I will start off by saying I acknowledge this trilogy is not like George Lucas’s Original Space Opera. It is more like a reboot rather then a continuation. The Force Awakens mirrors A New Hope in all the best ways. The Last Jedi is more of a character study of Rey and Luke. The Rise of Skywalker is like a `What if ‘ scenario. It feels more like Disney are saying if we created Star Wars this is what we would do. I consider these almost separate from the first 6 Skywalker Films. This is Rey’s story and for the most part it works for me.
Personally I’m not a fan of this trilogy, but if like me you’re out to complete the (bolt-on) saga, then these are decent transfers, bested only by the 4k versions.
Extras are decent, bringing across the extra stuff added later to the VII & VIII discs, but there’s no commentary on IX, and none of the retailer-exclusive material has made it over.
