This is brilliant. I am so impressed. I (an older woman) stuck the bell on the front door (by applying the enclosed 3m pad) under the 2 previous battery-bell skeletons, and then plugged the bell unit into an electric socket. Instant and so simple.
Well, lots of tunes for all occasions, or conventional door bell sounds if that’s what you prefer. Adjustable volume and allows for another plug to be used on top of it when plugged into a socket – great.
Great doorbell with a loud chime – volume can be altered, as can the chime. Simple to use, no set up bar sticking it to the door and plugging it into a socket!
Much better to have a ‘rocker’ push action – more positive than a round bell button to press, which does not always activate the bell. A press down switch ensures that the bell sound is activated in the house.
It works. The door push needs no battery, although if I opened it, I would expect to find a rechargeable battery. The bell unit needs a 13 amp socket. It is fairly loud, but most of the sounds are awful. I’ve used the ding dong ding dong sound. [Cannot rate on longevity. My first bell of this type in
1998, lasted 20 years, since then they fail quite quickly.]
It works! It’s loud. It has many cheesy tunes to choose from. And it seems noticeable enough that delivery folks actually ring the bell (so I hear) rather than knock fleetingly and dump packages behind a bin or just abandon on the doorstep. Anyway. The bell is good! Does bell stuff.
Worked straight out of the box. The mains plug audio unit and piezo-electric bell push means no batteries to replace and I don’t lose a mains power socket. Volume is very loud (adjustable) and has a large number of different ring tones you can toggle between (including ‘jingle bells’ and similar for those who wish to irritate their partner!). The bell push comes with double sided adhesive tape cut to size and with cut-outs to go around the various protuberances on the rear of the push. It stuck to my door jam fine. Range is good also. Can’t fault it.
Nice to have a doorbell that doesn’t need batteries or wires. Only arrived today but easily fitted and worked as expected. Only minor issue is instructions are written in very small print and difficult to read
So easy to fit and use and such a big selection of chimes, hard to choose. Plugged in and the throughput worked so well no need to find another power point. Would recommend
Good in every way except that to just fit it by self adhesion does not work. After a few days the press mechanism will simply fall off! You do need to fix it properly and securely.
Really easy setup, bell push and receiver already paired from the factory. Plug in receiver, 3M sticky tape (supplied) onto bell push and stick it next to your door. Job done.
I used this doorbell to replace a non functioning conventional doorbell in my new house. I was attracted to the fact that it just plugs in and requires no batteries. With button push stuck up outside my front door, it was ready to use within minutes. Works very well and recommended for anyone who doesn’t own a drill or doesn’t have the know-how to rewire a bell.
Excellent product but had difficulty in pairing the bell push with the receiver, from the instructions. This took many attempts to successfully achieve it.
When done the product works very well.
Looks good but the buzzer is slightly wider than I would have liked but overall it gives a good clear ring and is a peace of cake to fit. I haven’t tried to change the volume or chime as happy with a simple ding dong and its default volume so cant say how easy or not it is to change them.
I was getting new front door/windows and I had a ‘dodgy’ old fashioned wire bell/ring. I was wary and a little unsure of what to buy. I had a good read and this one seemed straightforward – no batteries or other complicated stuff.! Just plug into a socket and off you go! Plus, the adapter thing means you can still use that socket — excellent! I am so pleased with it. It looks smart was easy to set up and install. The gentlemen doing the door very kindly made sure it was placed at a straight angle for me !!! All perfect so far.
I am now thinking of getting another one for my back door. Handy for the way we use our back door too — in our area. Would happily recommend this. Thank you.
The system is excellent but after heavy rain it fell off the door and onto concrete.I am going to buy some form of glue to refix it.I tested it and it it is still working.
The bell looks really solid and stylish and is so simple and quick to set up. The bell and receiver are paired already, so there is absolutely nothing to do but to attach the bell via screws or sticky pad|(your choice) and plug the other part into an electrical socket, and you’re good to go. Nice and loud and you don’t lose a plug either. I chose it based upon a lot of positive feedback from others, and I have added my name to the list.
They bell push should be supplied with a weatherproof cover. I manufactured one from a small snap lid food container costing 1.
Have just installed this door bell. Very pleased with it so far. Very easy to install and never have to keep replacing batteries
Easy to install, easy to use. Simple to swap melodies, I found it easy to pair with an extra bell push. It’s loud enough to hear from a distance, plug in anywhere and can still plug in another appliance. Great bit of kit!
This was easy to fit, screwing the bell push into the door frame. It work first time with a simple double chime, repeated once more. You can choose from a number of different tones to use, but the simple chime works best for me.
The chime unit can take a plug, so you don’t lose a socket.
Very pleased with the door chime.
This is the second one I have bought, it is very easy to set up. Good and loud ring.
Not only do you not need batteries you can chose from 32 tunes plus its a doddle it fit to set up already paired and easy to fi
There is a plethora of rings to choose from, probably too many in my view but you can’t please everyone I suppose. Very good value and works extremely well. Also comes ready paired with the bell, incredibly easy to use.
This is fantastic. I love the fact that the bell doesn’t require batteries and works off kinetic energy
The only downside is the bell unit is a little wider than most doorbells. It meant it was catching on my door as my door frame is narrow
Looks very sturdy and easy to install. Works and fits well on my white upvc door frame. Sticky back is very good and does not look like it is going to come off easily.
Had a little trouble getting it work but not sure what happened it started working ok after a while
No need for batteries!!!! Receiver unit, plugs into mains, but leaves plug available for use. The external sender unit, doesn’t require batteries. The assortment of ringtones, are a little grating / outdated. That said, if you pick a simple door bell chime it’s fine. Would recommend.
My only gripe with this bell is that I feel it’s not obvious to visitors how to use it. You need to press it until it clicks, at which point a small light becomes visible breifly. I believe this is how it powers itself – but to be honest, I would rather it was easier to ring and took batteries. When you receive your unit, you will know what I am talking about! I can easily envisage people pressing it lightly, thinking they’ve rung it, but they haven’t. So I guess I will see how it goes when I get some delivery drivers trying it out!
But in terms of the range, it is excellent. I actually bought this to replace a Ring video doorbell (you know, the video door bell that doesn’t record video unless you pay a monthly fee). The Ring door bell was absolutely rubbish in terms of range. But this Tecknet doorbell is excellent – I am using it on my 1st floor flat and even when I tested it with the receiver as far away as possible, it still rang without any issues. I imagine it could be a problem though if you have a neighbour using the same bell, as there will no doubt be a signal conflict.
Installation was pretty easy – it comes with a 3M double sided sticky pad that’s made to measure. I used it, as well as screws, although screws alone would have been plenty. The downside with the sticky pad is you can’t really move it later as it’s a one-time use kinda thing.
As for the plug-in receiver, it is pretty basic as you’d expect. I am just using the basic “ding dong” sound effect, which is the first option. The receiver also has a volume button and it’s loud enough for me. Personally, I will only be turning the receiver on when I am expecting guests or a delivery – when I had the Ring doorbell, it was getting rung by all sorts of people that were nothing to do with me (e.g. drunks, visitors / deliveries for my neighbours). Really glad I got this doorbell and even gladder to see the back of my Ring VIDEO doorbell (that doesn’t record video unless you pay a monthly subscription).
I have had so many doorbells over the years. My last was one you could carry to other rooms and worked well, apart from eating batteries. Recently it went flat somewhere in the house but I can’t find it. Hence a new doorbell. Having bought one of these for a family member I knew what to expect. This is solely so you will also know what to expect. First, it doesn’t use batteries at all. The external bell push is a clicker design rather than a simple central button. When you push it the action when it clicks generates the power to activate the ringer. So no battery to replace. It is however a more sealed unit than alternatives so is a stick on option rather than screwed down. The ringer portion is plugged into a wall outlet. So again, no batteries, it is literally plugged into mains power. A nice touch is that it has a pass through so that you can plug another item into it. I had a lamp in the socket the bell now uses, instead of having to swap things about the lamp plugs into the ringer which then obviously plugs in the wall outlet. It is fairly wide though so could be an issue with some sockets if they are non standard. If you decide to move the ringer and plug it in elsewhere there are no requirements to pair it. It comes paired and stays paired even if removed from power. It arrives set loud and can be adjusted down to a level you prefer by use of a side button on the ringer. You can also choose from a large number of different tunes by another button. Cycling through them was fun, the kind of fun you may experience when trapping your finger in a door, or maybe hitting your thumb with a hammer. Repeatedly. Thirty times. The tunes are the same awful tunes you get with any of the cheaper carry around types claiming 30+ ring tones. The majority are awful. That isn’t to say they are done badly, so much as the simplified delivery of them is for the most part unpleasant to the ears. Stick to a more normal ding dong type and it’s a good thing. Start playing tunes with synthesised birdsong and plan a trip to an asylum for when you finally lose the plot entirely. I suppose if you don’t like who you are getting it for you could set it to the most awful, then fit it but not tell them they could change it, though that is likely against the Geneva convention or something. All that said, I like this doorbell. You can’t stick the ringer in your pocket and nip off down the garden (well, you technically could, but then it won’t ring, is it still a ringer then?), though if you ran an extension cord down there to facilitate it ringing then you maybe need that asylum number on speed dial as you are already far too close to needing them. But the fact it is always powered when plugged in, and that if you do move it you are likely doing it to plug it in somewhere else for some reason, means it will not suffer the fate of being lost down the back of a sofa, or being forgotten stood on a bird table outside. It is definitely a good option for those not wanting wires between ringer and outside button and as stated, is totally battery free saving those embarrassing moments when the pizza guy tells you he rang the bell, you then pushing it in that ‘duh! Look’ moment only to find he did and either the button cell of the button or the AAA of the ringer went flat. Either way, battery free is a nice option in my book. So, to sum up. It’s a doorbell. You stick the button outside. Plug the ringer in inside. Then when the button is pressed the ringer rings. Yup. Definitely a doorbell

Very pleased with my purchase for following reasons :
The product feels good quality and that it will last. The door switch is self powered so no need for batteries. This also means the switch is totally sealed thus preventing water entering the workings which is often the reason theseproducts go wrong. This means the door switch is IP65 rated which is better protection against the weather than the previous IP44 models. The door switch gives a reassuringly firm click and a little blue light appears when pressed. The switch can be stuck to the door or fixed more securely into place. A sticky pad is provided for this and also the fixings needed if something more permanent is needed. The speaker is again of good quality and plugs into the mains so no batteries to change. Similar products are too wide and stop you using an adjoining plug, not so in this case. It also has a “through” plug built in so rather than potentially taking up 2 plugs like some, this takes up 0 plugs. On the side of the speaker are 2 buttons. The first allows you to scroll through all the chimes. Keep pressing until you find one you like. The 32 chimes are clear high quality sounds and better than cheaper models. There is an excellent standard 2 note doorbell chime, “Westminster chime”, “door knock” as well as a range of other polyphonic tunes. Pressing the second button then selects from 5 different volume levels. Level 3 is about right for me to hear the bell anywhere within myhouse. However I am sure level 5 would be useful for someone who struggled with hearing or who lives in a larger house than mine. Whilst very loud on level 5 there is surprisingly low distortion for such a compact speaker. Level 1 would be useful if you wanted to have the speaker located near to where you were sitting without making you jump. Another advantage of the plug in speaker is that it can be moved around the house wherever there is a plug ensuring you don’t miss the bell. A feature of this plug is that it remembers the chime setting if you unplug it so no need to set it up again. The signal easily reaches from my door to anywhere in my house and with this model has supposedly been upgraded to up to 400m. It has worked for me from my living room to inside the shed at the bottom of the garden and also to the other side of the street at the front of the house. The product comes with an 18 month warranty and you can extend this for free to 36 months by going to the Tecknet website and registering the product with your Amazon order number.
The only issues I can think of so far :
As stated the door switch has a little blue light that appears when pressed. This is really only a brief flicker rather like a piezo ignitor on a gas stove. Maybe some would like a brighter display that stayed on a little longer to reassure the visitor that the button had been pressed. However in my mind I would rather have all the energy produced by the press going into a stronger signal to the speaker. Also the “reassuring click” of this design means a visitor will know when its been pressed. There is also a blue LED light on the speaker that lights up when the bell is rung. Again this is not as elaborate as some other models which make a big display with differentcolours. It is however perfectly satisfactory unless you were totally deaf and then more lights and patterns may be useful. For the vast majority who want to hear the bell being rung I suspect the lights on the speaker are a bit of a gimmick anyway and just a waste of electricity. The other thing to note with this bell is it does not have a silent setting with just the light going off.
All in all a good quality wireless doorbell that feels like it will last, no batteries to change and a good selection of quality chimes. The fact it doesn’t stop the socket being used for something else is a real bonus as well.
This is a great doorbell that is easy to install and setup. We had ours up and running within a minute. No batteries to worry about, simply plug in the receiver and install the wireless self powered transmitter in a convenient place beside your door.
The bell push transmitter is a bit bigger than your conventional bell push, but should fit onto most door frames. It comes with self adhesive foam for a secure mount to most flat surfaces, but also can be hard mounted to a wall if you prefer to use screws.
It is worth noting that the bell push transmitter is IP44 rated which means it is splash proof, not waterproof as advertised. As a general rule of thumb IP ratings IP65, IP66 and IP67 are generally considered “waterproof” for most general purpose applications. With IP44 the product is protected from water splash and solid particles of 1mm in diameter and bigger. It is not protected from direct or heavy penetrating rain or snow melt. It would be nice to see a slightly higher IP rating for the bell push as they are commonly exposed to the elements. Our previous bell push was IP66 rated.
The bell push transmitter is completely self powered. You don’t need any batteries. Ever. As a result, you will need to be mindful that the effort to depress the button may be more than you are used to with other “soft touch” bell pushes. The mechanical action of pressing the bell push generates the energy needed to power the transmitter. When depressed it with make a fairly loud audible click. This is totally normal.
As for longevity and reliability in the long term, we’ve had ours a couple of weeks so it’s still early to tell. However, so far, we are impressed.
The plug-in receiver/sounder is adequately loud and allows even individuals in our household who are somewhat hard of hearing to be able to hear it enough to know that there is someone at the door. The unit comes with a whole swathe of polyphonic tones to choose from. Many are particularly cheesy, but there’s enough variety that there’s probably something for everyone. Or you can just stick with the default. There is also a flashing indicator that strobes when the bell push is pressed, but it’s not very bright. It’s enough to see in the night but during the day it’s particularly dim compared to the competition. Also if you choose to use the BS1363 pass-through socket on the front, be aware that some plugs, in particular AC adapters, may obscure the LEDs. It’s worth noting that the socket is *not* fused and is not intended for use with high amperage devices like kettles, toasters, hair dryers, fridges or freezers.
Over our several week experience with this product we are so far very happy. It’s nicely designed, easy to install and is plenty loud enough. You will need to be aware that the plug-in receiver won’t work in the event of a power cut. It is however definitely well worth considering if you’re looking for a door bell that is easy to install and doesn’t need any batteries whatsoever.
