A great Knife set from Tefal, they’re razor sharp and the edge has lasted months with daily use! they have a great feel in the hand and are well weighted, the Acacia wood block looks great in the kitchen and keep them out of reach from the little ones
Highly recommend!
The handle is good to grip and comfortable to hold, easy control of a very sharp knife, well happy.
Good sharp knife that is easy to use and easy to clean.
This Jamie Oliver knife set by Tefal contains five knives which fulfill every function that you may need in the kitchen. The knives come in a wonderful solid Acacia wood block. To be noted is that it’s not a single piece of Acacia, but instead several pieces glued together. In the product photos they have chosen a block that has many similarly coloured and grained pieces of wood but as you can see above, you may well recieve a block made of pieces of wood with contrasting grain and colour. The Acacia wood is lovely though and the knife set is a real feature piece for any kitchen. The knives themselves are very well-made and should last a lifetime if looked after well.
Tefal makes quality kitchen products, and partnering with Jamie Oliver means you’re only going to be getting the most useful set of knives! These are fantastic for preparing food and generally cooking, as they’re not only easy to hold and move around, but they’re super sharp so they cut through everything with ease.
The acacia wood block looks stunning and holds all the knives very nicely. This set looks great in any kitchen, so you don’t need to worry about that.
Overall, I think this is a quality knife set and would highly recommend it!
Extremely happy with these knives. They are very very sharp, nice and heavy and solid. Great selection of different knives for different purposes and the wooden block is very attractive and doesn’t take up too much room on the kitchen counter.
I really like the weight and comfort when holding these knives. Feels well balanced and they are so sharp!! Loving cutting paper thin tomato slices with them.
I’ve had my knives just three days and need just a few months, to check sharpness keeping qualities, before I confirm them to be the best ever. As other customers have said, the knives are razor sharp out of the packet.
They feel good and do everything.
I used to think I kept the kitchen knives sharp, now I know otherwise. The previous set did okay, but close examination showed they had minute teeth, along the edge, which must have helped to cut.
The JO set super smooth, super sharp.
If anyone can explain why my old set had a ragged edge from a ceramic wheel sharpener, I would be most interested.
P.S. My wife thinks I am proper daft, because I am soooo pleased
P.P.S. I am still pleased with my knives. Both my wife and I have had very superficial cuts, by just brushing against the blade. So far the scallops or “grantons” have not stopped stuff sticking to the blade when slicing.
While I’m not a big fan of Jamie Oliver, his cookware is generally pretty decent and these knives have really impressed me. They are comfortable to hold and incredibly sharp, and so far they have stayed that way but I do wash them by hand as I hear that dishwashers blunt sharp knives. I really like using these knives and would definitely recommend them.
Sharp, easy to handle and hold. Stylish and good quality. Nice keen edge which holds up well in the kitchen.
Easy to clean. And a nice sturdy block.
Great quality and cuts well.
Construction is very good. Very good quality and durable.
Overall I can definitely recomend.
Great set of knifes. Really nice to have in the kitchen. Only small Resivation is the block . Bit bulky and the wood it’s made from isn’t pleasing to my eyes . Great value as these were for sale in John Lewis for 50 more .
Brilliant set of 5 knives with a knife block to hold them in. They are incredibly sharp so do take care when using them and handling them. Really good quality and feel like they would last a lifetime. Cut with ease which will keep providing they are used in the right way. Gorgeous
This set of knives arrive in a nice looking cardboard box that would be more than suitable to be given as a gift. They do not come in any sort of presentation case though, so if you are after something that little bit more special, you will be disappointed.
The acacia block is solid and heavy and does a good job of holding the knives. It has pads on the bottom to stop it from slipping, and the slots for the knives are large enough to make taking them in and out, a breeze.
The knives themselves feel well made and solidly constructed. They are also nice and sharp straight out of the box. I am no knife expert, but all the knives have felt comfortable and balanced in my hand when using them. And so far they have all handled everything I have thrown at them in the kichen without any issue, or showing signs of dulling.
Only time will tell how they stand up to long term use, but so far I have been very impressed with this set, and fully recommend them.
~ Amazon asked me to review this product and to give my honest opinion about it. That’s what I have set out to do, so I hope you found it helpful. ~
Our older knives were going blunt and no amount of sharpening was saving them. So when this set came up, I decided to order it:
– The set arrived in a nice box with the knives well packaged separately and the block nicely packaged
too.
– The block looks excellent and is proper heavy and sturdy! It also has some grip on the bottom so it
doesn’t slide around the work surface!
– The knives slide into the slots easily and look superb as a set!
– The knives themselves are so incredibly sharp! I cut through an onion like it was butter with these!
– They’re super easy to keep clean as well and they are easy to sharpen too.
– They feel robust and of an excellent quality.
– The set is pricey but that’s probably because they have Jamie’s name on them… who I don’t like after
he took away turkey twizzlers…
I would definitely recommend this set, although it is expensive!
Absolutely FANTASTIC.
These are probably the best knives I’ve ever had and I can’t put into words just how great they are. In the set you get 5 knives in total and a knife block. The knives come in various sizes and shapes for cutting different things. They have a nice weight to them and feel like a very high quality product just by holding them. The knife block feels like it’s made from solid wood and is really quite heavy and all the knives slot into it in their individual places. In particular my favourite knife is the smallest one, as I tend to use that for most things. They are sharpened to perfection and cutting is an absolute breeze when using them.
Priced at 130 or 98.99 when on offer, I believe these knives are well worth their price. They work extremely well, look smart and are sure to make cooking so much easier!
This knife block set has a really impressive appearance, feel, quality, and incredible sharpness, all of which have left an excellent impression on me.
Although I have a large collection of knives that I use for cooking and have taken care to keep them sharp, this set is in a league of its own. Even after several weeks of usage, they have not lost their excellent edge in any way. We usually chop on a cutting board made of soft wood, and I believe this makes a big difference.
Since I got the meat shears, I’ve used them to spatchcock a couple of chickens without any difficulty at all.
Because my kitchen acts as an entertainment space, having a knife set that looks as well as this one does is of vital important.
Everything has a nice weight to it, making it pleasant to handle, and it does seem well balanced. This is extremely essential in a knife, and you won’t truly appreciate what it’s like to have a knife that is well balanced until you’ve had a very excellent knife.
These are some of the best knives I have used for a long time with great weighting that helps make cutting easy. This is one of the things cheaper knives often get wrong as they have no weight in the handle, making using them a chore. They also come very sharp and are perfect for the cook in the household. Along with the weight comes the design and this is modern and stylish with good metal throughout and accent black handles. This is all finished off with a heavyweight stylish Acacia wood knife block that matches other parts of the Jamie Oliver by Tefal range.
Superb set of high quality knives with an acai wood standing block. This set makes me feel like a professional chef and once you try them you wont want use any other knives ever again.
Set contain everyday essential sizes knives for great experience and precision. Each knife is made from German stainless steel and has ice hardened blade. There are five different sized knives for all sort of needs. This set looks beautiful and is very practical and durable. If taken care properly will stay sharp for very long time and will last you forever.
I do find Jamie Oliver a bit annoying, but my goodness, his knives are fab!
This is just a beautiful set, every knife seems perfectly weighted and sits in my hand so nicely. I especially love the santoku vegetable knife, it makes me feel very confident when preparing veggies, and to be honest, it’s just so enjoyable to use (as they all are!).
I know it’s a lot to pay for a set of knives, but they are lovely, and I would so recommend them. I feel they’re a great investment for your kitchen.
The Tefal Jamie Oliver Kitchen Knives Set with Knife Bloc offers five knives of German stainess steel with a wood to hold them. They came well packaged with the knives in individual cardboard sleeves (see first picture) with no possibility of damage or scratching and all in a sturdy cardboard box.
I must talk about the wood block as this is the best produced we’ve seen so far. The appearance is very attractive and well finished. It’s heavy and secure, which is the the right end of the spectrum as we won’t be moving it about in the kitchen. (See also the picture of the underside and the rubber feet.) The J.O. branding is quite small and discrete on the block (see first pic), and more prominent on the knives themselves when out of the block.
The knives are held quite vertical in the block, which is good for reducing the ‘footprint’ on the worktop, though it does mean the top of the knives stands quite high up if you have limited space in that direction.
On to the real product, the knives themselves. They are clearly well made and the high quality steel designation seems justified. They are also very sharp.
While our knife skills are not at the professional level it does make a difference to have a quality set. We tend to use paring knives more extensively than the true experts as these can be easier and more forgiving than larger knives, and we are also not needing to work quite so fast at home. The paring knife performed well on all counts – though again given the sharpness (and longer length than our basic paring ones) we felt it wise to be careful and keep fingers well out of the way.
The utility knife fared well and being a bit longer than the paring was more efficient at some tasks. (We may reach for this one more often in the future.)
Both the bread and chef’s knives were very good too. The latter made short work of vegetable chopping and other tasks. It’s a good sized knife and feels balanced in the hand.
A good set we’ll enjoy using.
I am not a fan of Jamie Oliveoil’s cooking, however his kitchenware isn’t half bad; I own a large chopping board, cheese grater and some other items that bare his name and they have been of excellent quality.
These knives have impressed me so far too; the blades are very sharp and nicely polished, they are lightweight and comfortable to hold. I would have preferred if the handles were made from wood too – to match the acacia wood knife black. Instead, the handles seem to be made from black resin.
Other than this, my only issue is that the knife block looked rather dry when I received it and needed a good oil to put some life and colour back into it.
It does look very smart though, and I would recommend it for a budget knife set. Time will tell how well they hold an edge and how easy they are to sharpen but for now they are looking pretty good.
The acacia wooden block is heavy and has a cool rustic look and it’s heavy enough for me to prop my two chopping boards against it when I position them behind it (see photo). All five knives are superb. Well balanced, ergonamically sound with exceptionally sharp blades, there’s a knife to cover every need for home cooking. I prepare cooked dinner most days and although these knives won’t improve my knife skills, I get through the chopping quicker because the blades are so sharp. Excellent value for money, it’s worth spending the time to sharpen them with a sharpening stone every few months to keep them in tip-top condition.
This is a really nice natural looking knife block , it’s quite weighty and sturdy , the beautiful natural acacia wooden block has really nice natural patterns in it , it looks very stylish.
I like that the block also has good grips underneath so it doesn’t slide along the kitchen worktops, you have to pick it up a little to move it.
The knives come well packaged and individually wrapped , they are very sharp out of the box so be careful when unboxing.
The knives arcade from ice hardened quality German steel, Tefal have done a really nice job with these knives they ate beautifully weighted with stylish handles that are nice to hold and they slot nicely in the acacia wooden knife block.
You get everything you need to prep and cook a nice meal with these knives , a quality chef knife along with bread knife , paring knife , santuko and a utility knife.
When all knives are resting in place the knife block looks eye catching and really good quality, it’s a really good collaboration between a well known kitchen brand and a world class chef.
I’m impressed with the knife block , everything I need to prepare food in the kitchen , some knife blocks have too much going on , with these 5 knives you certainly have everything you need to prepare a nice meal or banquet.
I have been after a new knife block for a while and this one is just perfect. The acacia wood is such a nice colour and feels so solid. The knifes feel lovely and smooth to hold and are super sharp! You get all the standard ones you will ever need for chopping in the kitchen.
My only slight qualm was that I had to rearrange my kitchen, as the knifes fit more upright than my previous slanted knife block, so I couldn’t get them out with the knife block under my kitchen units. But it was worth it and I actually prefer the new layout of my utensils 🙂
Jamie Oliver knife block is really very heavy it comes with 5 knives which are themselves a good weight . The block is made from Acacia wood beautiful colour and very sturdy. The knives are German stainless steel and ice hardened and are really very sharp, they feel comfortable to hold and use. The knives fit perfectly in the block and have no chance of knocking over block because of the weight.
The block is absolutely gorgeous and a very sturdy weight.
The set of five knives have a great weight to them. They are lovely to use and are nice and sharp.
Very good quality knives and block, well made.
You can’t go wrong when two big names team up to bring a product to market.
These are by far the best knives I have ever used.
I would recommend, perfect for any kitchen and will definitely be a talking point.
I love the look of these, and the feel very comfortable in the hand. The range of blades is great, though personally I would have preferred a binding/filtering knife to the larger of the two utility knives.
No matter – overall the quality seems great, and they come with a razor sharp factory sharpness that I can no longer achieve with my 25 year old set of Global knives. i expect this is due to my poor sharpening technique, but it’s still lovely to have this set with their extra-sharp blades, fir however long that lasts until they have to be put to the test of my sharpening technique.
I love the look of them too: simple, sleek, and elegant. They fit into my (smallish) hands nicely, and the weight feels right.
Will update this review if any of these opinions change over time.
I’ve always made do with run of the mill, often supermarket bought knife sets but having now used some of the knives from this Jamie Oliver set, I realise that quality does speak for itself
This set comprises of five German stainless steel blades knives that have been ice hardened. They are housed in a very nice acacia wood knife block, which in itself is a weapon the weight to it alone makes it feel like quality.
I will undoubtedly get the most use out of the paring and utility knives, as well as the bread knife (occasionally), as I don’t use or prepare meat or fish in this house.
I decided to test run the utility knife while preparing the night time vegetables for my rabbits and, honestly, I know I was just cutting some peppers and celery but using this knife versus my usual knife was like night and day. It was like cutting through butter.
The comfort of the handles is also noticeable and they balance the weight really nicely with the blades so you feel you have full control.
Would I spent nearly 130 on a knife set under usual circumstances? Probably not but would I now, in the future, spend more on knives that I use daily (paring, utility)? Yes, I definitely would, especially if they behave and cut like these ones do!
I’m seriously impressed and I apologise that I can’t give a more technical review, but I hope it may encourage others to see this as a worthwhile purchase.
Got these on prime early access good price as I’ve heard Jamie Oliver knives are good, the Tefal pans are great and this knife block is in conjunction with Tefal so I try ought I’d go for it!
Glad I did the block is heavy and study not a chance of knocking it over. Acacia wood is sustainable and really attractive (I love rustic looking wood) even though shading of wood is variable. I prefer the back side of the block rather than the Jamie Tefal logo side as it’s darker wood buts that expected with a natural product and it’s all down to personal taste.
Initial impressions are that the knives are high quality I tested one slicing mushrooms never done them so finely and yes as you can see in these photos these knives are SHARP but as I’m sick of blunt knives it’s welcome I’ll just watch my fingers!
Especially good if you can get it on a prime deal. I would recommend.
