This is a different take on batman compared to the dark knight trilogy I definitely prefer the dark knight trilogy over this but regardless I enjoyed this film was great overall.
Very dark and gritty. Story is good and the acting in this film is fantastic. My favourite Batman movie and has become immediately one of my favourite films along with The Silence of the Lambs and Seven. It’s a very good film.
It was actually cheaper for me to buy this than to rent it from a streaming service, go figure. The film is too long but does offer a film noir alternative to the Batman story which is then ruined by a big finale with lots of shooting and explosions completely at odds with the preceding story.
Not a major fan of comic films but I enjoy the batman films.
I really enjoyed this, such a different and darker take on Nolans concept compared to Nolans first film. Obviously nothing will beat TDR imo but I really liked Patterson as Batman.
All aspects of the DVD’s design were delivered as advertised and the disk itself was completely functional. The quality of the film was good and I had a great night with my friends watching it.
This version tho darkly lit adds to the cannon.
In my personal opinion i would say batman begins and the dark knight are better but this film is definitely better than the dark knight rises. Highly recommended
The downside with this of course, is that its still only one step away from Batman Begins. Matt Reeves has aped Nolan stylistically which doesnt help – going for the dark, gritty realistic Gotham. He’s taken it a step further and it looks a lot like the film 7even – lots of nighttime, rain and shadows but still, this film feels like one step forward from that, not a reboot/reimagining. What a shame.
Performances are excellent and the Riddler as the bad guy is a masterstroke but next time, lets hope it finds its own voice a bit more.
Not at all gothic (Burton) or epic (Nolan) or comic (West). As better critics have said, an attempt to make a Bat for our disturbing times. The denouement is brilliant. The setpieces nicely turned. Well cast and nearer horror than I expected. Pattinson gives excellent momentum, matched by Ms Kravitz. Up there with The Dark Knight for me.
After watching this film (and getting utterly addicted to the beautifully haunting soundtrack in the process…), I think this film is an outstanding depiction of my favourite crimefighter. Even more so than with the previous trilogy this feels less like another superhero film, and more like a detective film which happens to have a hero in it. The character arc is tangible, like watching a moody teen grow up, which hints at a more mature character in the future films.
I am a self-confessed film fan but it generally takes a few years to get around to watching a film again, so that it still feels fresh and enjoyable. As with Dune, this film was so good that I have seen it twice within the last three months and still feel the urge to watch it again. It may not be perfect, but I absolutely loved it.
Outstanding work, and proof that the Hollywood machine can actually excel if they bother to try!
I’ve only given this film and disc 4 stars, due to the 3 hour runtime. Personally I feel, half an hour could have been shaved off. Thats the only downside.
What you have is Batman as originally perceived in Dc. He’s early batman and more detective than super hero.
It is different, but a breath of fresh air. A great cast and a different take on the dark Knight. I recommend this film.
The 4k area is superb. An excellent picture and a thunderous dolby atmos soundtrack. This is what makes 4k bluray the ultimate way to watch home and feel home cinema. Do yourself a favour and buy this.
I was a bit apprehensive about going to the cinema with Robert Pattinson playing the lead role as he’s known so well as Edward Cullen in the twilight films but I have to say it he was excellent as Bruce wayne / batman he totally nailed the role, the film itself was excellent who ever played the batman games on xbox will really enjoy it rather than the playboy bruce wayne style this instead was all about playing detective I won’t go into much detail as I don’t want to give away spoilers but if you want yo watch a really good batman film then this is definitely for you 9 out of 10 all round excellent film a must see
I saw the film at the cinema – twice- so I had to have a copy to go in the collection. I was sceptical but I didn’t need to be – the Dark Knight trilogy set the bar, right? Well I have to say, Robert P did a great job as our young superhero. I loved it. Andy S plays a great Alfred (in a Michael Caine voice nod). The film is long but you get so absorbed in the story you don’t really notice. The Nirvana based background music works really well – simple but very effective. It might not be for everyone, but I loved it. Now to watch the 2 hours of extras!!!
The film is great in terms of it being more investigation based than always kicking someones head in. Also think Robert Pattinson plays a good Batman role.
I still think the Nolan films are to beat in terms of Batman films.
In this title, I wish the villians actually seemed more like the comic books villains. Penguin and Riddler just seemed odd in this film. Also having cat woman run around with a cheap looking balaclava just didnt seem right.
Overall I think the film is good and worth buying!
