This is a really fun game which causes a lot of laughter, without anyone needing to do anything embarrassing. It’s easy to learn the rules with one or two practice rounds, and there is lots of replay value. You get hundreds of words included and if you run out, you could always make up a set by yourselves. Most of the words will be recognisable to all ages which means that this is a game the whole family will enjoy.

The cards and little envelopes are really good quality, though I do think they could have used a smaller box to make it a bit more portable, seeing as it’s so well suited to parties and holidays.

My daughter is really enjoying playing table top games so we thought we would give this a try.
It’s a card based game that revolves around the goal of discovering who is the ‘chameleon’ or imposter.
The games starts with everyone except the chameleon in the group of players knowing what the secret picture is.
Everyone then has to describe the picture to show they know what it is and prove they are not the chameleon. The imposter has to try sneak under the radar by saying similar words to put people off the scent.
It’s a fairly easy game to play and can be fun in larger groups or family settings. Younger children will find it easy to follow too.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun 'imposter' card game

We bought this game for a multi family ski trip to play when the kids were in bed. It was a hit, which unfortunately meant the kids kept getting woken up by us roaring with laughter. It’s very easy to learn, we were already howling in the practice round. It’s super quick, a round with seven of us only took five minutes but you can play it for hours or until your faces hustle too much from laughing. Because it’s a simple card game, you can take it anywhere.
We ended up making our hints as obscure as possible to try and all look like the chameleon, which added even more fun.
The age rating has nothing to do with the content but rather with the concept but I think kids would still love it and just not play it with such a high level of deception.
It’s become an instant hit and replaced Splenda, Carcassonne and even Catan this holiday, simply because it’s so much fun and even when one parent had to go and appease the kids, they’d only miss one round and would be ok to play again straight away.
Have been recommending it to everyone.

Bought this to play with family over Christmas. Took a few rinds for us to figure it out properly. But once we did it was great fun. The whole family enjoyed it. Young and old. (Even the teenagers)

Played this at Christmas with three adults and two teenagers. Played again recently with four adults and four teens. Both occasions ended with hilarious laughter and a lot of shouting! Every time I suggested end of play, another round was demanded by the kids! Not a phone in sight! Highly recommended. Excellent game.

I bought this as a Christmas present for my 13 year old niece who loves games, and it’s been brilliant fun for the whole family from age 10 to 76! We’ve played it so many times already, it’s easy to get the hang of and can be played quickly with just one round, or you can carry on as long as you want. I’d definitely recommend this game to anyone.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersMy daughter got this for Christmas and it’s yet another instant hit for a “big potato game.” We have loads of their games and we are very rarely let down by them.

The game is simple to learn and set up takes about 2 minutes. Sometimes guessing the chameleon is tricky as they have blended in well and other times it’s very obvious especially when they have to start with no idea what the key word is.

It’s a fun game to play and will become another family favourite.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another great big potato game.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersWe have 5 adult kids and their partners so we needed a game that could include many people. This game is both simple but kind of tricky. But the trickiness causes the most ridiculous conversations and the laughter from when someone reads the wrong word have become legendary memes in our family

One time someone read the wrong word off the card (you have a code card to work out on a grid what word you are all describing, say C4. But someone reads B4) which meant 5 people decribing Lobster and one person describing Bear. Because you are trying to convey the word to prove to the others your not the chameleon without actually giving the word away to the chameleon. The amount of finger pointing and knowing looks and people shouting and laughing. Honestly. It’s such a great game and so much fun. We played into three small hours and the drunker you are the more silly it gets. brilliant. Firm family favourite in our house

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersTeenage daughter played game at friend’s house & loved it so much, we had to buy it. Plenty of laughs, fun & enjoyment for our family. Fairly easy to pick the game up, but glad she had played it before to explain rather than reading rules. Plenty of categories & combinations, so it will some time, if any, that duplicates are an issue, the ‘create your own’ card was a hilarious addition.

Probably the hit of Xmas and the most surprising bit is, our 7 year old is probably the best player – given the premise is how well you can lie, this is a tad concerning! Lol. Had worried beforehand given description and reviews, she may be a little young but was not our experience – she wants to play it the most. Obviously have to choose the categories more carefully in order that she’s familiar with them, but otherwise it was the game asked for most over Xmas. Lots of fun for everyone including parents and 10 Yr old (who was actually the one who got it for xmas)

I’ve wanted a copy of this forever and I finally nabbed it in the sales! This is a classic deception game where everyone except one player knows the secret word and that person has to try and style it out as if they know it too. It’s very fun to play! The only problem some of our group had was using the dice to find the correct word in the grid, but that’s on them I guess really. :’D I personally find the original price point for this game at around 40 is a bit high for me, I usually spend closer to 30 for party games. Can never fault the quality of Big Potato Games though, always pristine and to a great finish.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI bought this game based on a mooch around Amazon and reading reviews. It’s made me make a note to buy more games from this company in the future as it’s the second big hit we’ve had from them!

Simple to learn but so much fun to play. We played with ages 12 to to 74 and everyone enjoyed themselves. Yes, the 12 year old didn’t know all the words/bands/places etc but if I’m honest the grandparents had the same problem in reverse! It just added to the fun as they weren’t sure what to say either – everyone was under suspicion!

At first we were far too open and gave the word away to the chameleon too easily, but we soon got wise to that! We played it multiple times over Christmas and I know we will again. From about 12ish upwards with kids with a bit of imagination, you’ll have great fun. And nobody has to do anything silly to make a fool of themselves, which several of our party are really not in to – this was perfect!

I paid about 17.99 I think, on black friday and thought it wasn’t bad value for money – but at the full price it’s perhaps a little much. Having said that, what is in the box is good quality in comparison to many games. The fact you’ll go through the topics multiple times does not matter at all – the key word will change. If they bring out additional cards in the future I have no doubt we will add – or make up our own!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis was bought as a gift for my father in law. The game is played by everyone using their card to read a word and then give clues as to what the word is. One player does not know what the word is and so has to try give a clue by listening to what others have said or being vague. The aim of the game is to work out who doesn’t know the word (the chameleon) or to disguise the fact that you don’t know it, someone has to keep score.
We’ve played at a few family gatherings, some members have really struggled to understand the concept of the game but to be honest that has added to the hilarity and with perseverance and a bit of patience everyone has eventually been able to play.
In the box is 2 sets of players cards, cards with the words on and two dice (which help decipher which word is being used).
I would say this is not a game for children under 13, partly because I don’t think they would find it interesting.
One year since purchase it is still being used and still funny.

Excellent and entertaining game And very easy to learn , I have 5 children from the age 16 to 8 and they with their cousins loved it , got it on lightening deal so thought I’d risk it And what a great risk!
They also love games like skyjo, bananagrams, dixit, monopoly deal, dobble ,you’ve got crabs, exploding kittens and more ,(fast short games). I have loads of games but the ones mentioned are deffo the non regret games.
I dont think you would regret buying this game and deffo better for the whole family to socialise rather than your kids just hooked on to iPads n phones!
    Try it!

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersSeemed simple until we started playing and realized how challenging it can be to get a good balance between giving out clues to show you know what the answer is, and not giving away enough to tell the Chameleon the answer. More of an adult / older teenager game than for youngish children, I would say, as the range of possible answers often assumes a broader cultural knowledge than many children might have. A great game for getting people talking and practising their bluffing skills. We found we needed to play quite a few rounds the first time in order to get into the swing of things – and nothing wrong with that! Good, clever, non-offensive, sociable game.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersThis is a simple, but fun game. Learn in a turn, and probably suitable for 14+ , because whilst young’uns could certainly also play, they wouldn’t get the nuances of the game that make this so fun. The game includes a “blank” drywipe play board so you can make your own rounds – which is a brilliant addition for us playing in our office as we can engineer specific games about projects/technologies, which is awesome.

It takes about 10 minutes to play a round with 5 people, the game does need a “leader” to orchestrate things (or you would take forever). You can play about 5 rounds (so maybe an hour) before you are bored of it. I think we’ll come back to this game about once a fortnight; so it’s not edge of your seat – all killer – people begging to play, but its definitely a good game I can see people wanting to be involved in when it’s brought out.
