A perfect combination of classic action-adventure and romantic comedy, carried by brilliant writing and the charisma and skill of the film’s two leads. A treat to watch every time: not one joke falls flat, every character is perfectly encapsulated and delivered by the cast, and the story is actually pretty thought-provoking and sincere. If you want a fun even of romance, comedy, and self-aware archaeological adventure, this is your film.
Timeless Bullock rarely fails to entertain. Pretty good film. Has vague similarities to another romance writer adventure film, but plenty of new material. Tatum is definitely good at comedy and not taking himself seriously. A keeper to watch again on a girls’ night.
I don’t regret watching this, but I’d rather have a nice sandwich. The acting and budget is there, but it’s just a not very well written film. The list potential is heartbreaking, famous people who can act, with lots of cash, and the best moment is when you see Brad or for a flicker, and then it’s out of the film. So much wrong with modern cinema, but this does reasonably well considering the material, but was capable of so much more. The charchters are poorly written but as well performed as they can be, Sandra Bullock reprises her miss congeniality type well, the plot is a bland waste but what can you do with millions of dollars and excellent acting talent, that’s right, pen an appallingly bad-way predictable script with more formula than the baby food Isle. The guy does well not to be unimpressive, a weak insipid mess, with Mr macho brad erased after a sprinkling of, ‘oh now this should be good… Oh’
I like the actors, it was watchable, but no repeatability, I think if push came to above I’d rather have a nice sandwich.
Supplier recommended dvd arrived in good time. My wife enjoyed the story. The storyline was a” take off ” of a well known Michael Douglas film and Harrison Ford series. It must be difficult to come up with original ideas all the time. Still my wife really enjoyed the film.
I have to admit that the reason I watched this film was because the trailer made me laugh and I love both Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum to bits.
But I wasn’t expecting it to be as good as it turned out to be.
It was funny and witty and even heart wrenching in certain places. And a bonus is that it also had other great actors in it that I wasn’t expecting, as well as one or two moments that made me gasp in shock.
Definitely worth watching in my opinion.
And this film fits the bill perfectly. It’s fun, frivolous and has enough action to keep a bloke entertained, a bit of romance for the more fragrant person in the relationship and humour to keep things light.
Daniel Radcliff plays himself as per usual. He hams up the bad British guy a bit and the film doesn’t challenge his admittedly limited acting chops.
Sandra Bullock plays the kind of role she’s played many times before. She has a naturally engaging personality and that comes across well on screen with one small niggle and I think it’s to do with either the makeup department of special effects.
Her face sometimes doesn’t look entirely real. It almost looks like it’s been smoothed out by a computer which may well be the case as she’s not a youngster anymore and perhaps the film makers needed to knock a few years off. Either way, every so often her face looks artificial.
Channing Tatum is hamming it up full and makes the film. He manages to do the idiot action hero well and the ladies in the house will get to enjoy him showing off his abs. I try the same with the wife but she’s not convinced I’m quite at his level…..
Story is fairly generic action/adventure looking for treasure with bad guys in the way. It’s a rehash of many other similar and it’s probably been mentioned before many times, but this is really a modern version of Romancing the Stone.
Overall, it’s an easy watching film that a great Sunday afternoon on a rainy day one.
This film wasn’t as funny as it tried to be but was amusing throughout. There was just about enough action for an Indiana Jones style of film and the acting and script were very good as you’d expect from the stars that are in this film. I found Uncharted a more impressive film of this type.
