I played the game as a kid so there where scenes in the movie where i was thinking ‘o yeah i remember that when playing the game.’ My son is a huge super mario fan, hes 3 and loved this movie. I dont want to say too much with out giving any of the film details away, As a family this was a great movie choice for a movie nigh
Got this free from Amazon, kids don’t normally sit through a whole film, but the kids loved it and to my surprised sat through the whole film, not the less we have watch it 3 more times.
Enjoyed the movie, but felt it was very much pushing the girl power theme. As is everything. I have both boys and girls, and the feed back from both was the same
Peach’s character is not faithful to the games whatsoever and the same goes for Cranky Kong. Was fun to watch regardless even if the movie was too fast paced for my taste.
I rented it then after my 5 Yr old watched it I had to buy for him. He’s a Mario fan for now.
If your child has autism and adhd this film might make them sit and relax for once
Ladies and gentlemen, hold onto your mustaches because we’re about to talk about the Super Mario Bros. Movie. Now, I know what you’re thinking — “Why are we reviewing a movie on Amazon?” Well, my friends, this isn’t just any movie; it’s a cinematic adventure filled with mushrooms, plumbers, and more chaos than a group of Toads at a Goomba convention!
Let’s start with the obvious — it’s Super Mario, the beloved video game franchise brought to life on the big screen. It’s like seeing your childhood dreams materialize in front of your eyes, but with a live-action twist. It’s the kind of movie that makes you want to jump on turtles and collect coins in your living room.
But here’s where it gets wild. The Super Mario Bros. Movie isn’t just for watching; it’s a multi-purpose entertainment machine. Use it as a fitness video — every time Mario jumps, you jump. By the end of the movie, you’ll either be in incredible shape or nursing a sore bum from all the sitting and jumping.
Need to learn Italian? Put on the Super Mario Bros. Movie with the Italian audio track. You’ll be saying “It’s-a me, Mario!” in no time. Impress your friends with your newfound linguistic skills.
Or how about using it as a cooking show? Follow Mario’s lead and try to recreate his favorite dishes — pasta, pizza, and more pasta. Just don’t forget to wear a red hat and mustache for the full effect.
But the pice de rsistance — host a Super Mario Bros. Movie night and invite all your friends over. Provide them with plumbing tools as props and make them fix imaginary pipes while watching. Whoever has the least leaks at the end wins a virtual gold coin.
In conclusion, the Super Mario Bros. Movie isn’t just a movie; it’s a source of inspiration, fitness, language learning, and culinary adventure. It’s the cinematic equivalent of a mushroom power-up, ready to take you on a wild ride through the Mushroom Kingdom. So, if you’re ready to relive your gaming nostalgia in the most entertaining way possible, grab some popcorn, don your red cap, and let the adventure begin!
Amazon prime generously gave me a 5 prime video coupon which i used to rent this movie, definitely worth using up the coupon for. Reminded me of the only nintendo wii super mario bros, mario kart games.
Not brilliant, not terrible. Probably better than it should have been, but there were fewer laugh-out-loud moments than I was hoping for from the general hearsay around the film. Enjoyed the visual and musical Easter eggs and nods to the games, but it definitely strikes out on it’s own, so no game knowledge is required.
Suffers for extremely tight editing; there’s almost no space in any scene, so it should definitely keep kids’ attention, but I think was too compressed to be able to be properly savoured. More jokes may have landed if they had room to breathe a little.
Overall, 3.5/5.
The film has excellent animation, some funny characters, a very feisty and brave princess, and some music that my grandchildren loved – especially Jack Black as Bowser singing a love song to Princess Peach!
I went into this movie with very high expectations set by the 1993 triumph Super Mario Bros. I was very disappointed in the lack of live action creepy looking versions of our favourite Italian stallion Mario and his spikey Turtle foe. However the newly Italian-American Bros from the brox brought their own magic to the Mushroom Kingdom and Jack Black as Bowser is just mind-blowing, I can’t imagine bowser not being JB from this moment on and I demand that Nintendo use him to voice all versions of Bowser in every language known to man! I was however very disappointed to find that toad wasnot voiced by actual anthropomorphic mushrooms and were in fact voiced by Keegan-Michael Kay a very well know actor who I’m sure could have had many other roles! Jack black at least embodies the idea of a Spikey Turtle Man who has an od fixation on a blond women, as this is essentially his biography. The Mario Bros are voiced by Americans and we all know they shouldn’t be Italian anymore as that’s just weird! Keegan-Michael Kay should hang his head in shame for his supurb performance in this movie!
Over all 9/10.5 as the mariocart section did not follow the rules of the game at all!
A good watch, out kids really enjoyed it. Maybe a bit heavy on the intensity for smaller kids and also a very high saturated colourisation so a bit overstimulating for kids but hey ho.
I like the amount of background details such as the old Donkey Kong arcade game in the pizzeria etc and it’s better than I was expecting. I was a Sega kid so I may be a little biased when I say I prefer the Sonic films but maybe they’ll do a Mario 2 with Wario?
I loved this movie so much I saw it in the cinema twice. It was so nostalgic and I loved all the references to the games. I liked that you didn’t need to understand the Mario universe to watch this movie, I think that made it great for children who maybe hadn’t played any Mario games etc.. I thought the voice cast were surprisingly good, and the characters had much more depth than I expected. I would recommend this movie to anyone looking something fun and light hearted to watch.
I bought this movie and it wasn’t working for me so I got on with customer service who issued me a refund. I bought it again and still had the same issue so I went to customer service again ad they were able to fix it. I had a great experience with the amazon customer support team and wanted to mention it here.
My only bad point was that i felt 20 for the movie was very expensive
We watched this in the comfort of outlr own home and for once my 3 year old watched a film from start to finish it was good for kids and adults.
Excellent movie shame he didn’t have Italian accent though;)
Kids love the ge move and have already watched three times after purchaseplus saw at the movies!
This was a family treat especially for my granddaughters and it did not dissapoint. It was worth paying the extra to see the film
My son adores this film he loved it at the cinema and couldn’t wait to watch it at home!
Great to watch with the kids they loved it I loved it really enjoyed it loads of little nods to your own childhood
All you could ask for from a super Mario move! All together now ‘peaches, peaches, peaches, peaches, peaches, peaches, peaches, peaches, peaches, peaches I love you!
Went too see it in the cinema and now got it at home and it’s still brillia
excellent movie my kids love it and have watched it again and agai
Great movie that my kid loves. Good story line that continually moves and keeps you interested. Better than the last Mario movie.
My children have been asking to see this movie for a while. I decided to buy it rather then rent as it was not much more money. To be honest it was a bit of an expense for me, but I’m so glad I did because the children absolutely love it and have watched it repeatedly every day. They think it’s fantastic and on a rainy day today, it’s something to look forward to.
Kids loved it from early teen to 6yr old all really enjoyed the movie
Has something for everyone, and you can tell the team behind the movie cared about the characters, where they came from and what they mean. The little touches hollering back to all the old games were fantastic. A nice movie that lets you escape for an hour and a half.
I took my 14 and 8 year old daughters to see this film. We all really enjoyed it, so couldn’t wait to be able to buy it. My 8 year old says it’s the best film she has ever seen. My 14 year old went to see it twice! I like all the references in the film to the different Mario games. It has a good sound track. Every child I speak to who has seen it, says the Peaches song is their favourite! Great family film.
If your a fan or not of Mario this is one of the best family films I’ve seen In years my three year old boy and one year old girl absolutely love it I gotta say so do I.
This film is a must see for both long-time Mario fans and anyone who has never played a Mario game. The voice acting was fantastic, the graphics and music were amazing and the plot is largely faithful to the Mario lore while having its own unique story to tell. Definitely a film you can come back to again and again!
One of the rare video game films that respects the source material, and at the same time, it doesn’t feel like an attempt at a direct adaptation, which wouldn’t have worked. Instead it is a fresh and unique story that draws you and has you rooting for Mario the entire time.
