I got this to monitor condensation in my house. Its readings tally with the dehumidifier moisture level readings. Hopefully should help with controlling the humidity levels in the house, in combination with ventilation and using the dehumidifier.
Well it is good when I have my dehumidifier on that has the humidity shown which is one number up or down of each other so its great especially when you have a dehumidifier it helps you to get know what it is doing daily and if your room is making a change
Good sized screen, easy to read and as I have a couple of these they do seem to have the same readings and not much difference in the central heating thermostat reading. Easy to set up and battery life is good as it comes with batteries. Touch screen display good and it has a light, easy to reset humidity 24 hour monitoring. Shows humidity level and indicates weather dry, normal or wet levels. Easy to change from Celsius to Fahrenheit.
Bought this because I was considering buying an air cooler which I’m told only work well at less than 60% humidity. In the 3 weeks since I bought this, it’s pretty much always over 60% so buying this has saved me wasting a lot of money!
Fantastic and just what I was looking for, seems to be accurate with other temperature gages I have and the screen display is just big enough very easy to read the extra light is an added bonus. Love the fact its a touch screen. Very happy with this purchase does what it’s intended to do.
Fast delivery, I have got it 1 day earlier. It can be hanged on the wall and it has got 2 magnets on the back also. Very useful, good size. Love it.
So for I have bought 3 of them in total for each room in the house after buying 1 for testing a year ago.
It’s simple and straight forward. Show’s temperatures and humidity with max and min values for the day or total (Replacing batteries will reset the numbers).
The option to have a light is good and I have used it maybe once or twice. It has a good visibilty under the low light and when you actually need to turn the light on, you probably can barelly even see the device itself.
The original batteries lasted 4 to 6 months. Your own rechargeables will do a month or two based on the battery capacity. One of my device seems to be a bit more power hungry for some reason and lasts a bit under a month, but that is still a good amount when you can just recharge the batteries.
All of them are still working and one is in the bathroom which is a bit more harch environment. Quite happy with the quality so for.
I like it, I have it hanging on my fridge using the magnet, you can also stand it up, looks neat, just wish the light would stay on at all times
he screen on my last one warped at 56c (i keep it in my conservatory and it gets hot if all windows are doors are closed) so far only had a high of 41c which was yesterday but so far so good.
taken 1 star off as the 24hr recording is over a 24hr period. so there is no way of knowing if the high/low reading is todays or yesterdays! is it too much to ask for a midnight reset?
I recently purchased the ThermoPro TP50 Digital Thermo-Hygrometer and I am extremely satisfied with my purchase. This indoor room thermometer and hygrometer combination provides accurate measurements of temperature and humidity, with a wide range of -50C to 70C and 10% to 99% respectively. The readings are updated every 10 seconds, so I always have the latest information at my fingertips.
The innovative room climate indicator displays the current temperature and humidity in cute symbols, such as dry, comfort, and wet. It helps me quickly determine if the room climate is too damp or too dry and take action accordingly. This is especially important for maintaining a healthy home environment and ensuring proper indoor humidity control.
The thermometer hygrometer has a smart design, with both tabletop and magnet mountable options, and the ability to select between Celsius or Fahrenheit. It is also powered by AAA battery, making it easy to use and convenient to move around.
Overall, I am very happy with this purchase and highly recommend the ThermoPro TP50 Digital Thermo-Hygrometer to anyone looking for an accurate and easy-to-use indoor room thermometer and hygrometer with a range of practical applications at home or in the office.
So we need to use these products to get rid of mould inside our homes. I have always had condensation issues around windows which has lead to mould growth. I did extensive research around this mould issue. Things you need to know about hunidity based on scientific papers mould will not germinate on building materials if relative humidity is lower than 80 percent generally and not be visable below 85 percent humidity over weeks or months. 100 percent humidity like condensation on windows can result in mould growth visable in 24 hours. So how do we stop this? Keep humidity lower than those values on average. Aim for 50 to 70 percent humidity over a 24 hour period avoid going higher. How can we do this? We produce lots of moisture around 12 liters per day through breathing cooking etc and where does that moisture go with our amazing insulated homes… It becomes trapped inside our homes raising the humidity levels especially during winter. 1. Open the vents on top of your windows these are called weep vents they should be open all year round according to government regulation. 2. If humidity levels are above 65 percent in any room open the windows and try bring it down by 10 percent especially if your in the room or are drying clothes. 3. If you dry clothes in any room you should either have an extractor fan on or a window open most of the day and the door closed. If you don’t want to do this then you need clothes drying dehumidifier. 4. When cooking open windows in the kitchen and run the extractor fan (both bathroom and kitchens should have them fitted and based on building regulations should suck a minimum 15 liters/second If you have mould in bathroom or kitchen and run these fans they either need a good clean for dust and anything else or they need to be replaced) all kitchens and bathrooms need extractor fans! 5. When you cook or shower close the doors to these rooms and ventilate and do not open those doors after until all condensation from windows or surfaces have dried up. 6. Clean mould with 1 part bleach and 3 parts water and some gloves and wipe them clean. You can repaint after this is fully dried out and humidity is under control with the above steps. 6. Leaks guttering can leak onto brickwork and dampen this or damp can rise from the damp proof course outside the house being bridged minimal 75mm from solid serface (pavement or grass) and the damp proof course 150mm is ideal. 7. Use these readers to stay in that ideal 40-65 parameter throughout the day. 8. Mould can cause respiratory and health related issues and prolonged exposure can cause terminal damage so do not take this lightly opening a window or keeping trickle vents open will lower the temperature inside your house but in the long run will improve and potentially even save your life. I am sure this will help! P. S any extractor fan issue or leak or breach of damp proof course or guttering water going onto brick work is homeowners issue so if you rent private speak to them and windows should have a trickle vent if not get the homeowner to install them! I recommend buying two of these babies and check various humidity levels in the house throughout the day! Peace and love Chris N
We purchased this product to check how low the temperature gets inside during the recent cold weather while we were out at work so we could programme the boiler daytime temperature correctly. It gives you a max min reading. Which we used to select the minimum daytime temperature correctly to save a bit of gas. Also gives a humidity reading. Very good for avoiding damp. Gives you the actual value and an indication of wet normal or dry. Very useful for keeping the black mould at bay
I have 3 of the smaller units and place them in various parts of the house as so easy to move around. I was amazed to find in garage, attached to house, in the cold frosty weather the temperature got down to 1.4C and conservatory 2.9C. The max/min facility is very useful. I keep this one which is bigger in Lounge as it has a backlight so0 I can show wife how warm it is
Great for what they do but there are flaws… I attempted to put one on the wall above eye level, but then I couldn’t read the screen. The blue light makes some words hard to read. I think the cheaper orange lit ones are easier to read.
These are brilliant. I have one in every room of my bungalow. It’s great to see the temperature and the humidity also I really like the dry, comfort and wet on the humidity bit. One reason if it says one room is damp then I know something is wrong or I’ve left a window open. But I also suffer from Asthma and COPD. So if the device says room is dry I know I will start coughing. Comfort I’m OK with.
I highly recommend this device and I love the fact it’s touch screen and I can turn on the blue Backlight which as far as I know it stats on to you turn it off which is great.
One of my best buys definitely. Especially if you suffer from Asthma or COPD etc.
I also got the “ACURITE 00613” (24.23) just as a second opinion device, being from two different companies, and they both say roughly the same thing when it comes to temp and humidity.
There will be times they will vary a between 1-4c and about the same in percentage terms for humidity, so it’s about as good as it could get for such value orinented devices.
Having seen comparisons done with vastly more expensive equiment, the two are close enough to get by happily with.
As to this device, it beats out the “ACURITE 00613” simply because it’s a larger screen which in turn makes it easier to read from a distance, and it has a backlight function, and it’s a bit cheaper too.
Don’t be swayed by something like a backlight function for such a device, because you have to be at the device to enable the backlight, which means you will be able to read it without it.
Unless for some reason you want to see what the temp and humidity is at night. It wasn’t a selling point for me.
It’s always a good idea to have a device like this from two different manufacturers, because you’d never know if you got a badly calibrated device from one company. That’s why you should get a ‘second opinion device’ from a different company.
Giant digits for the most important metrics, the information you want most presented in a very in your face way. Just the way you like it. Can even read it from across the room. Appears to be fairly accurate when compared to another old meter I had.
In addition to the regular data you can see the highest and lowest points in the last 24 hours or all time high/low which can be useful if you need those metrics, otherwise it’s just small and to the side. Options to switch between degrees Celsius and Fahrenheit means unless you measure in Kelvin you will be catered for.
The blue light makes it even easier to read, especially at night though I imagine it will eat through the battery a lot quicker. The light is clear enough to make it read but not so bright it bothers the eyes or anything. It is exceptionally blue however which may not be the best thing for the bedroom. Taking 2x 1.5v AAA batteries, I have not had to replace them yet so can’t speak for battery life yet, but one month in it is going strong.
Comparing the readout values to a number of other thermometers I have it it generally consistent with the others to about 0.5C and about 2% consistency in humidity reading. This is generally what one might reasonably expect for the purpose it is being put to.
The minor gripe is that because the display is so crowded it is sometime difficult to visually separate some of the component parts (e.g. the C/F display is too close to the decimal value of the decimal fraction portion of the temperature display).
Also because of the crowded display the touch buttons at the bottom of the display are not easy to separate. In particular, the touch button for the light display, which one needs to be able to easily press when it is too dark to see it, is between the buttons for the C/F temperature button and the 24hr/all time button, and so I will often accidentally press one of the other buttons when I am fumbling for the light display button when in the dark.
Nonetheless, the major portions of the display (i.e. the current temperature and humidity) are large, clear, and easy to read (excepting that I have to be aware that the temperature might have inadvertently switched between C and F – but if the number looks too large to be right for the temperature in C it is fairly obvious it has switched to F).
Excellent product! Large display which is easy to read with LED back light displaying the temperature, and humidity level. There are 3 different zones to help you understand the current conditions, Dry, Comfortable and Wet. It offers you 2 modes to cycle between, the last 24 period and All time helping you pin point any recent change in the room. You can also switch between Fahrenheit and Celsius. Batteries included and last a long time in the device (over a year for me and when I switched out the supplied batteries for Duracell).
Personal experience: I now have 6 of these (one for each room) and If you have ever had/have trouble with humidity or condensation these are a god send.
Previously I was experiencing high humidity problems in the house I was renting, I lost brand new wooden furniture some rooms in the 3 bed house were uninhabitable, the Land lord was useless but like most people I couldn’t afford to move out at the time as I was saving for a deposit for a house of my own.
The problem turned out to be insufficient ventilation, I did some research online and bought 2 of these to start off with and found that a few rooms were registering as wet. I purchased a couple of dehumidifiers, (1 upstairs and one downstairs) and the quality of air improved dramatically! No more lost furniture.
The monitors let me know when the rooms were registering as wet which I would then switch on the dehumidifier rather than leave them running constantly.
I don’t have this issue in my new house it gives me peace of mind knowing the humidity levels of the room you’re in are safe. Overall i can’t fault these little gadgets.
My purpose for this device is to simply know the rough temperature and, more importantly, humidity in my flat, especially during the cold winter months. I don’t own a greenhouse, a terrarium, a vine cellar, or a similar thing requiring more “professional” reads.
Reading the reviews on this hygrometer and many others, I noticed that they all have people complaining about bad readings. Since I couldn’t find a single one with a reasonable number of reviews (say, 100+) without someone complaining about this, and because it’s a fairly cheap device (16 GBP at the time of this writing), I decided to get 2 of them for the 2 rooms I’m most interested in, keep them together for a day, and compare. I’m guessing that the chances of 2 of them being equally faulty are very slim, given that most of the other reviews are very positive. In case that these two proved to be very inconsistent, I would’ve requested a replacement for both, without worrying which one is the faulty one.
I would suggest anyone buying these to use this approach, unless you have another device (especially hygrometer) to compare with.
The results of the experiment can be seen on the accompanied image:
– quite consistent current humidity (only 1 percentage point);
– some discrepancy in the lowest measured humidity (4 percentage points), which is to be expected of any such device;
– fairly consistent current temperature (under 0.5C apart, and usually it’s less);
– 24h low/high shows a bit bigger difference (1C) in the lowest measured temperature.
My conclusion is that both of the devices work fine, unless one needs super-precise measuring, in which case you need to go way above this price range.
As for the other features: the setup is trivial (it consists of putting the supplied batteries in and, if Fahrenheits are your thing, clicking the icon on the screen), the backlight is quite pleasant, the screen is very visible, the magnets on the back seem to be quite stronger than a device like this needs,… All in all, the device does very nicely what it is advertised do.
Not having checked the dimensions prior to buying, I expected considerably bigger devices (the impression I got from the obviously doctored product images) and I was pleasantly surprised when they arrived. In my opinion, the size is just right to make them very readable, yet quite elegant (although, I do admit that this is a matter of personal taste).
These were delivered to me less than 2 days ago (2nd Nov 2018), so I cannot speak of their durability. However, if this review remains unedited, you can be sure that this didn’t prove to be a problem since.
To conclude: These are a good value for money, and I would recommend them to anyone with similar, non-professional needs.
I do love the ThermoPro Humidity/Temperature Guage. This is the second one I’ve bought in the last seven months. Whereas the first one took up to two hours to adapt to my surroundings, this latest one I’ve just bought, to my surprise, was giving a fairly accurate reading within 15 minutes of installing it in our Sitting Room. I’m sorry to hear that various people have had issues with theirs. Mine seems to be working fine, with no issues with the readings it gives, the lights coming on easily (Per Instructions manual that comes with it, once you’ve installed the two AA Batteries that come with it, you press the Light Bulb icon at the bottom centre of the gauge & a BLUE Light comes on to enable you to see the Readings in the dark – this stays on for 10 seconds before going off to conserve battery life. A NICE TOUCH). The back of the Humidity/Temperature Gauge comes with two magnetic strips attached near the battery compartment on the reverse of the device – this allows you to stick it on your fridge or anything magnetic – ANOTHER NICE TOUCH. (I’ve got the first one I bought in August 2017 attached to our fridge in the Kitchen). On the back of the device, it also has a pull-out stand (which you need to pull out gently but steadily) – this allows you to stand the device on a flat surface. Accordingly, we have the latest one that we’ve just bought placed strategically at eye level on a shelf and tucked discreetly in a corner of our sitting room. What do I think of it? I love it! – it performs well (Temperature Readings always +/- 0.5 Degree Celsius within ACTUAL, Humidity Readings +/- 1.5 within the actual HUMIDITY Readings, which is ACTUALLY one of the BEST I’ve actually had so far from very cheap and NOT-SO-CHEAP Humidity Devices I’ve bought in the past. I hope my review has been of assistance to you, and would try to answer within 48 Hours any questions put to me regarding the device. Thank you for reading.
Review: Thermopro TP55EU
I needed an hygrometer to monitor the humidity in the kitchen of the property I am renting. The room always seemed damp and there was mould beginning to appear on a wall in the corner. I looked at the various meters and thought this one was suitable for the purpose.
The specification is good, with indications of relative humidity and temperature, which is all I really needed, but it also has a Comfort indicator which shows DRY if the relative humidity is below 30%, COMFORT if the humidity is between 30% and 60% and WET if the humidity is above 60%.
In addition to this there are trend arrows to show whether the humidity and temperature are increasing, decreasing or steady. Other very useful features are: maximum and minimum humidity and temperature values, recorded over the last 24 hours or since the last reset; a blue backlight and the temperature may be displayed in deg F or deg C, all selectable by touch-button. As I live in the UK I only need the Celcius scale (deg C) but it is good to have the choice.
The temperature range of the meter is quoted as -50 C to +70 C, with a resolution of 0.1 C. The humidity range of the meter is quoted as 10% to 99%, with a resolution of 1% and an accuracy of +/-3%. It is powered by two AAA batteries, which are readily available and inexpensive — the meter has a LOW BATT indicator to show when the batteries need to be replaced.
I am impressed by this little meter, especially at the price, the display is easy to read and it seems accurate. Using it has shown that my suspicions about the dampness were correct (see photo) and I need a de-humidifier! The only other feature I would like is a port to connect the meter to a computer to record values and trends (this is available in another model, the Thermopro TP60, I found out too late), even so I give this 5*.
