The future is Matter (& Thread) but these bulbs are yet to be upgraded. There is also nothing on HomeAssistant because of this. So unofficial buggy plugins have to be used.

Looking forward for the upgrade? Will it happen?

Wanted to ring the changes with half of our kitchen downlights. Chose these as the other Tapo stuff we have bought has been excellent and in particular that they can be grouped – in our case to give a different colour wash over the kitchen island. They have so far been excellent, the app is straightforward and they (actually) do what Google Home asks. Party mode is a hoot!!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersAffordable smart bulbs, works with alexa. Only thing is that there isn’t one app for ALL tp link products. I’ve for tp link kasa plugs that use a completely different app. Would be more convenient if they were all on the same one.

Best device software (iOS) I have used when compared to similar devices from other manufacturers.
Great interface and it just works. No faffing about.

Have now bought their plugs as well and just as great.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersObviously these are about as non-essential an item as you could imagine but they are amazing in terms of the sheer variety of colours you can ask Google Home to set them to. Setup was very simple and they have behaved very reliably in the week I have had them. I ordered two sets of four to replace my standard white halogens in my kitchen and I wish I had bought them ages ago when I first discovered them.

I can switch on or change the mood/colour/brightness of our outdoor lights via an app on my phone or asking Alexa. Really easy to set up using the TAPO app. These bulbs are amazing with a huge choice of colours and brightness settings. Am happy to highly recommend them and will be buying more for our courtyard area.

5.0 out of 5 stars FABULOUS! AMAZING! GREAT VALUE COLOUR CHANGING SMART LED BULBS

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersWanted to add wifi Controlled LEDs to the front door lights. Tried a pair with Tuya app but they consistently lost connection with the WiFi networks. After a few weeks of reconnecting and resetting with a dedicated network using a space router I gave up and purchased these TP link devices. So easy to setup and link to Alexa. Now have front door light that automatically light up at dusk. Perfect.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersMy entire house is full of Smart Devices. I started with IKEA Smart Devices which require a hub.
I then came across TAPO. These are easier to set up, do not need a hub, have a better App & integrate with Alexa the best! They are reliable and the most affordable price for a reliable brand. Gradually I am moving all of my Smart Bulbs to TAPO. Would recommend above all others.
I would highly recommend TAPO whether you want to set up 1 bulb or your entire house!

Great energy savers. Can have as little as 1% light which is great if you like to leave a light on over night. Good to have timer function especially if your out til late at night or away.
Only downside is if you forget and use the light switch, like me, several times! You have to set it up all over again, which is a pain.

Golden Review Award: 15 From Our UsersI can honestly say the app and products are very reliable and easy to manage and control both within their own app and by using Alexa, have set many smart routines for my smart home.. I have about 20 of the sockets, 3 of their cameras and am recently converting over to their bulbs.. I will give everyone a solid bit of advice these are WiFi devices not radio frequency like many other devices on market which require a separate transmitter hub.. This has a big drawback for most users and this is most home router handle many WiFi devices.. So basically if you plan on having several smart devices from tapo you might have to do what I have done and put them on their own separate router, which you just plug in and daisy to your existing router, not as a extender but as a separate access point self managed. In my home I’m above 100 WiFi devices and basically stock cheap routers cant handle this.. So hope that helps cos this was a stumbling block that I did hit myself so wanted to help out other users. Also would definitely recommend to anyone trying to make their home smarter get an echo in every room and learn how to create routines in the Alexa app to automate you tech around you day to day tasks.. I really wish these bulbs were on the market ten years ago as they would have saved me tonnes of effort whilst getting my house wired up, my partner is in to her crafts and wanted the spotlight above her sofa seat to be on its own dependant switch . So before we moved in we placed cardboard cutouts of all out furniture on floor and worked out all the cable runs. These bulbs allow independent operation in each room, so can dim or turn off bulbs independently without special wiring.. Have already created several new routine to dim lighting when using our projector, plus if our doorbell goes off our TV paused and lights brighten.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersI bought this for use in an outdoor light that only accepted this type of bulb. I wanted the light to come on at dusk and turn off intelligently at sunrise, without having to make things more complicated by installing a daylight sensor and tapping into the power supply. Even though I couldn’t see if this was suitable for use in outdoor fittings, it’s been working perfectly for the past couple of months, in cold and rain. The brightness is much lower on the coloured modes, but as a porch light I mostly have it set well below 50% brightness anyway, so it’s more than bright enough. I’m also able to programme it to turn off in the dead of night when I’m likely to be in bed, which saves more money than if I were to have a daylight sensor on it, meaning there would be no choice but to have it on all night long unless I manually turned it off.

Bonus feature is being able to make it a mad colour on special occasions like Halloween, to advertise your home is open for business!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very useful for applications where a full sized smart bulb isn’t practical.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI’m a bit fussy with lighting, I have Philips Hue all the way through the house now, but I needed to get some smart lights for a garden room that was too far away to get signal to the Hue hub. I’ve been a fan of tp-link gear for some time, from both a networking and smart home perspective, having bought some smart switches previously (both Kasa and Tapo which all worked well, never had a problem). So I bought four of these lights and installed them the other night, first impressions were good, the lights were bright, colours seemed good. The big test was how easy they would be to control and automate with the Tapo App.

I’ve got to say I was impressed with the way they allowed you to group the lights to turn them all on at once, or in a single automation with schedule/etc. It’s not as good as using the Hue app, but it does a good job and I would recommend them.

The price point is pretty good for what you get, I had all four lights setup, firmware updated and in use within about 10-15 minutes. Very happy with them.
