Golden Review Award: 2 From Our Usersi have autism and i’ve been using these to help block out noise, it doesn’t work as well when it’s in a very loud place (e.g. when i went to a theme park) but in those times i end up using an in-ear noise cancelling thing to help. besides from that these are amazing and have been helping me manage better in louder places. a part of it did break a bit but i was thankfully able to put it back together.

all in all, i absolutely love this product and would recommend

I AM USING THESE IN MY BUSY WELDING SHOP WHEN USING THE BANDSAW & GRINDERS. VERY COMFY AND BLOCK OUT THE NOISE AS ADVERTISED . WISHED I HAD BOUGHT THESE YEARS AGO 😉

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersMy daughter suffers from anxiety in assembly and noisy places so we bought these for her to use when she feels overwhelmed. They fit her well (she is 10) and she says they keep any noise out. She takes them with her to school and uses them when she needs to

Golden Review Award: 12 From Our UsersOn the plus side these ear defenders work well for blocking screeching on parts of London Underground where the wheels scrape against the track, such as Northern line between Camden and Euston and Central line near Stratford. They also allow you to hear natural conversation while blocking out higher or lower range noises. On the minus side they squeeze the head and are uncomfortable after a few minutes. For short-term use they are fine.

I tested these defenders in various scenarios:

Pneumatic drill – I stood three feet from a workman in the street using a drill on the pavement – excellent, sounded like the drill was half a mile away.
Drum concert – heavy night-club type bass – no effect, didn’t work to keep out bass.
London Underground – screeching as train wheels grind the track – good, prevents noise from being ear-piercing.
Washing up chinaware in the sink – plates and cutlery banging and crashing – good, they prevent the noise from being painful.

You must ensure the noise blockers fit right around the sides of your face. The slightest mis-fit due to the mufflers not being positioned properly, and they basically don’t work. E.g. if you wear a woolly hat that gets in the way of the defenders, they won’t work.

These are not noise cancellers but noise blockers. There is no cancelling effect but don’t let that put you off. I would recommend these.

Wish I had bought these years ago. Previously I struggled with the disposable foam plugs you stuff in your ears. Not that easy to insert, or remove in a hurry.

These Vanderfields Ear Defenders Adults take seconds to put on or take off, and greatly reduce the noise of machinery (angle grinder, sander, electric saws, etc) to a murmur. Makes working so much more restful.

I’d say I have quite a large head. I bent the top band slightly to reduce the tension. These fit perfectly, and after a few minutes I forget they are there. The longest I have worn them at one time is about an hour, but there was no discomfort after that time.

    Recommended.

Golden Review Award: 5 From Our UsersUnfortunately, we live in a flat that is next to a public library (PRO), where many youths like to hang out after school (CON). So on afternoons when the 10+ groups of them burn trash, inhale balloons, leave chicken shop waste, and get drunk and high with their bruvs and girlfriends in the crop tops during winter, I slip these babies on and it sounds like Novocain for my ears. It won’t drown them out completely, as only the only match for them is the smoker lady with the ruined voice box who yells BAHHHHH at everyone she encounter before bumming off a cigarette.

They are good enough to wear on the tube too- to drown out the loud mechanic shrill of the peak hours hustle and bustle. They have a calming effect, and are probably a must for people who feel overstimulated by living in the city (like me).

Good price, but not comfy enough to sleep in-

Golden Review Award: 7 From Our UsersI have sensitive ears and loud noises make me very uncomfortable, so I wanted something to protect my ears at a rock concert I went to. I have tried in-ear plugs, but I hate the feeling of having them in my ears. I opted for these over-ear ones instead.
They were great! I was a little worried they would block/muffle the sound too much to be enjoyable, but they didn’t at all and I had a great time. Understandably they don’t filter the frequencies the same way some in-ear ones would (e.g. Loop Experience) but it was a small sacrifice for the added comfort. I also didn’t find them tight or uncomfortable at all, I did not need to stretch them beforehand and I wore them for 3+ hours in one go.
Something to note is that if I turned my head a lot, some sound would leak in where the ear protectors would lift off my ears slightly. This is normal and expected though, and didn’t cause me problems. The headband length is adjustable and they fold in neatly, taking up much less space than I anticipated.
They’re a great pair of ear protectors – now I feel much more comfortable going to concerts again knowing I don’t have to worry about hearing damage.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersCouldn’t wear them for long periods as they are very tight, and also only blockers weren’t effective enough when loud sounds were also needed in headphones to even remotely drown the neighbour out, but these do work very well as noise blockers and for ordinary circumstances and everyday life they are very good. Handy for bin day when the trucks come by! Would recommend for ordinary circumstances but not long periods of time if you have sensory difficulties.

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersWork well as ear defenders to reduce general noise, for people with sensory issues and to improve concentration. I like how they’re slimmer and more discreet than other ear defenders, they almost look like normal headphones! However I would say I have a small head and they are quite tight. I stretched them over a stack of textbooks overnight and they’re much more comfy now 🙂

4.0 out of 5 stars Great and like how slim they are but quite tigh
