Vinyl Care Guide

Amazon Music’s Vinyl Care Guide

How should you care for your vinyl to get the most out of your collection? Here are a few handy hints and tips to get you started:

1. Store your vinyl upright on its side. Never store it flat – this can warp the record

2. Do not touch the vinyl itself – always handle by the edges or the inner label only

3. Protect your vinyl from dust – store vinyl in the dust jacket and don’t leave your vinyl on the turntable after playback

4. If you have issues with playback try light cleaning with a carbon fibre brush

One of my favourite bands and one of my favourite albums ever released. I have no doubts Britpop and 90s craziness were beautiful things to witness and I’m sad I didn’t get to experience them at the time myself. (What’s the Story?) Morning Glory is timeless, catchy and incredible.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersFollowing his band’s debut album Definitely Maybe, it seemed nearly impossible for the band to go any higher. They had just released the fastest selling debut in British music history, they were viewed as the greatest British rock group around.

Oasis are a band that always do everything to extremes levels, in excess. Definitely Maybe had it all; the singles, Supersonic, Live Forever, Cigarettes and Alcohol, Slide Away but how could they possible follow that?!

The only way to beat all of this was to create an bigger album, so much bigger, anthemic and that would blow the fans away. The effect of this album was like icarus, that the band flew so close to the sun they would just spontaneously combust. Created in a melting pot of inner battles the album What’s the Story (Morning Glory) to this day remains not just a near flawless classic rock record, it brutally anthemic, but also a marker for an era where guitar bands were on the front foot and driving cultural change.

Some would argue not the dizzy heights of definitely maybe, but it’s like comparing your kids, they are all different and special in their own right.

Such a good album with so many amazing songs it’s one of those albums you can play from start to finish without skipping any tracks. After definitely maybe this is their next best album Noel’s song writing is brilliant and Liam’s vocals are spot on it carry’s on from definitely maybe in encapsulating the era yet both albums still stand up now. The extra tracks are great and the artwork and notes about the songs are interesting

I was weary of buying this with all the negative reviews. I took the risk and its paid off. The sound and quality of the vinyl is excellent, arrived next day in great condition. I’m no music buff, I’ve only recently started collecting vinyl but the sound difference between this and a CD is night and day. It’s also my first vinyl review as I felt all the negativity below was quite unjust.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersSometimes the self-proclaimed, big-mouthed upgraders of The Beatles, Oasis (Gallagher brothers and their gang) nevertheless positioned themselves as deserved forerunners of the British pop-rock since the mid 90’s.
With “What’s The Story Morning Glory”, they hardly improved from the already excellent “Definitely Maybe” album – but its mainstream reception was overwhelming and Oasis turned first-rank superstars. “Wonderwall” became a virtual anthem of a generation, and some tracks even trumped that one with their sheer ecstatic hooks – “Roll with It” and especially “Some Might Say”. “Champagne Supernova” and “Don’t Look Back in Anger” also earned their place in Oasis books. The rest of the album is not that memorable – but still carries the Gallagher poise and self-confidence. Often cited as one of the 90’s best, the subsequent work of Oasis – and of both Noel and Liam separately – hit even higher heights. But this commercial peak will never be reached again.

Album itself is absolutely fantastic, the album of a generation! However, the condition of the CD case left a lot to be desired. Second hand is never going to be perfect, but when condition is advertised as “used- very good” and the case opens up into 2 pieces and the disc isn’t being held in properly I was disappointed, expected more from Music Magpie.

Golden Review Award: 19 From Our UsersI purchased this vinyl album over 3 years ago and have now actually got round to playing it for the first time. I think I must have mis filed it as I have a large collection.I have read many previous reviews of this album which report jumping, skipping ,noise, distortion and poor remastering. I am normally one of the first to complain about such issues but I have to say my copy is perfect. The pressing is really good with next to no surface noise.I play vinyl on a very high end system which is ruthlessly revealing and if there were any faults they would certainly be evident. As for the music absolutely brilliant. Virtually every track is a gem. No need to talk about specific songs as it’s all been said before.

This is brilliant. If your an Oasis fan, this is a must have. 3 discs. The first with the fantastic album remastered. The second with fantastic B-sides and a mix of Champaign Supernova. And the third with live recordings and demos including Rocksfield and Knebworth. Well done Liam, Noel, Bonehead, Guigsy, Tony and Alan. Fantastic stuff. The discs weren’t scratched and it arrived quickly. Oasis at their very best!. With this box set you get 4 vinyl records containing the original album plus B-sides and mixes which are incredibly rare. A deluxe 3 CD which contains the original album re mastered plus B-sides, Demos, Live versions and mixes. Also included are postcards a cassette tape of the original album and cigarette papers. Oasis are the best band in the world and this is one of their biggest albums.

Golden Review Award: 10 From Our UsersAs with the previous album the Definitely Maybe re-mastered the bass on this has been massively upped, to listen loud but in comfort you need to have either a pop setting or a graphic equaliser and take the bass right down. Other than that it’s a good job done, the vocals have been greatly improved on both the original album re-master and the extra tracks, the clarity although better still means the original mater still has it’s place, not everybody’s cup of tea but don’t let anything put you off buying this.

Disc’s 2 and 3 are worth having even if you like the mix of the album re-master, I have most of the tracks on Japanese issues or rarities and re-mastered I found them a lot better clarity. Unlike DM I don’t think most of these tracks are meant to played full pelt, it’s nice to hear tracks like Talk Tonight, It’s Better People, The Masterplan and Brendon Lynch’s mix of Champagne Supernova and and able to hear the instruments separated, Paul Wellers lead sections on CS is fantastic hearing the solo’s as they really should have been!!!!!!!!!!!! Overall well impressed with the work done on both re-masters!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersI’m a fan of Oasis and to find this album cheap was an instant buy. I’d bought it from Zoverstocks, use but in very good condition, in which it certainly was.

Now, I’m one of those people who don’t like EVERY song on an album and this applied here. I’ve not really listed to all the tracks as some don’t interest me, but some of the main Oasis songs we all love are on there. The main reason for buying this was I currently have ‘Stop the Clocks’ and ‘Time Flies… 1994-2009’ which I picked up dirt cheap too but sadly these two don’t feature some of the songs on their other albums, such as this one.

Overall, highly recommended to buy for any Oasis fan.

I owned this CD over ten years ago and loved it. Loved Almost every track. A great CD to have in the car to give you some lively, energetic and melodic background music . Somewhere along the line, I lost my CD and just recently after all these years decided to re-purchase it again.

Still a great CD and even after all these years the music is still soulful and dare I say it “music to my ears”. However, unlike the Beatles and other classic timeless songs of yester-year. I felt there was a tinge of “outdated-ness” about their music. After all these years it made me listen to the lyrics and the songs with fresh ears and whilst overall its good, hence the 4 stars, a couple of the songs on the CD are just so-so in my opinion. Oasis are and were trying to be too much like the Beatles and you can’t help but feel that each song has some mixture of Beatle-ness about it.

But don’t get me wrong, I think they are talented in their own rights and overall its a pretty good CD.

Fabulous album and as soon as I heard it I felt like I was 5 again listening to it in my dad’s car.Don’t Look Back In Anger is the best track but I don’t like wonderwall(Don’t Crucify Me)All the tracks really stand out and the album does have some filler but not much.Anybody who says you have to be a football hooligan to like this music is nonsense.I hate football and the culture but I love this album.I prefer this to Definitely Maybe as it is more expansive in the sound and works better. If you are new to oasis I would start here as it summarises what they are about. As I got older I said they sucked but that was because of my ignorance more than anything and trying not to like them because of what I identified them with which is Football,Fighting etc.Noel is a genius, a great talent but even though Liam doesn’t write the songs his voice is superb.I have to admit the lyrics are a bit naff sometimes but not all the time. But then again who cares the music more than makes up for it.Great album overall.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersOne can always tell whether an album has standed the test of time, because the music sounds just as good presently as what it did when it was first released, and Morning Glory hasn’t lost any of its character. My very first Oasis single, Some Might Say, is included here and is one of the best songs on the album because of its feel good rhythm, and a nice match for the summer (though i still reccommend getting the single for the extra 3 tracks which a great – especially the final 2). Don’t look back in anger is of course another favourite among fans, and even people who havent heard their material will recognise this widely played song, though the opening rhyth springs to mind Imagine by the Beatles, as well as the old style video. Wonderwall is again another classic 90’s song, and brings back memories of an era gone by, with its beautiful sounds, and powerful vocals. Morning Glory is another powerful song, but theirs only one song which rounds off the album perfectly, and thats Champagne Supernova. Its memorable, uplifting lyrics want to make you get up on stage and wave your hands in the air, and the because its not as fast as the the other numbers, its an emotional way to end such a great album. And since it wasnt released as a single in the UK, this is the only album to find it – and what better album could it be on?
