Excellent quality and value for money. This triangle is made of metal and will probably outlast the user by a couple of generations! It is accurate and easy to use. I particularly like the little notch in the corner that allows for the triangle to be pivoted in place.

I’ve used some tools in the past where the accuracy has been shocking. I’m glad to say this is not one of them. It’s very accurate and great for use in my woodworking projects that I’m trying to do more of these days. It has a variety of uses and is very flexible in the ways you can use it. It’s really well made and pretty solid but it is a little pricey.

The WORKPRO Triangle Ruler Protractor arrives in a branded cardboard box, which contains the set square/protractor in a bubble wrap bag and a manufacturers leaflet showing a portion of their range of tools — there is some triangular cardboard packing to keep it in place when in transit — though it might have been easier to make a triangular box?

The set square/protractor itself is a robust tool made of aluminium alloy, which forms a right angle from the foot stop but has various openings / cutouts for marking up materials ready to cut or drill etc. The entire frame is in an anodised blue colour and the markings in centimetres, degrees etc are very clear and have been laser etched for permanence, Using another tool I checked the angles and this is a very accurate tool. My reason for wanting this is for another flooring project I’m about to undertake, my old set square was unfortunately left in a part of our shed and has been ruined by rain so this will take pride of place for marking up — but not in the shed!

At 12.99 this is a solid and accurate tool that is useful for a myriad of tasks and based on just small DIY tasks undertaken to-date it will be a go-to marking tool.

I chose this for my model making but it is , in fact, full size and too large.
However, my OH is very pleased with it.
It is made from a high quality aluminium and extremely sturdy and the sides are ridged so they fit along a piece of wood or similar.
All markings are very clear and accurate
A great addition to any tool collection

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersFirst impression:
The speed square is an almost essential woodworking tool especially for construction of traditional roofing. It is capable of marking accurate lines at 45 degrees or right angles and can draw parallel markings at 35mm to 65mm graduations. There is a pivot point for angle mark-up or measuring the roof pitch, and this can be done either directly or using a plumb line if you have one of those — mine was made on a lathe in school back when you were allowed dangerous tools as a teenager. The square has everything else you would expect including angle measurement and translation marks for constructing common and hip/valley rafters for the rise.

    Packaging:
The square comes in a brown cardboard box with an inner support and is completely recyclable. The bubble wrap is not however and somewhat unnecessary.

    What I liked:
The markings are etched into the surface and so wont easily wear out through hard use. I do look after my tools and anything that needs to keep a straight edge gets hung up, but these things are tools after all and will get some hard use from time to time over the years.
The blue colour is particularly attractive, if such a thing in a work tool is necessary, but it does make the markings stand out, and it is easy to grab the big blue speed square on a cluttered table or tool bag if that’s where you keep it.
All the traditional measurements are present to make this useful in its role. Measurements are in cm or degrees for the most part. Pencil drag lines are at metric intervals. Interestingly, the parallel cut outs where the rafter marks are, is at imperial measurements of 9/10″ and 1 2/5″.

Anything I didn’t like so much:
Some of the casting marks are a little rough particularly around the internal cut outs. These may well have been slightly machined but these areas obviously didn’t have much metal to begin with. The machined ends of the T-foot are particularly rough with swarf left attached. It’s not a big thing, but I have seen better. It annoyed me as the marketing specifically states that there are no burrs.
It is made as they say from aluminium alloy. But which alloy exactly from one of the 8 common ones? Is it strong 6061 or bendy 1100? It’s a common thing to just quote that it is alloy but without any contextual meaning.

    Conclusion:
Minor gremlins with the finishing aside, and I just wish it didn’t carry so many milling marks, this is still good value for a speed square. It has all the functionality you would expect and even if all you do is find a right angle, it’s a good tool and a handy addition to the toolbox. I am going to hang this one up on my tool wall as it bears some protection.

Thanks for taking the time to read my review, I hope you found it helpful.

4.0 out of 5 stars Reasonably good square with everything you would expect. Useful for everyday carpentry and roofing.

The metal triangle is perfect for measuring right angles into wood. You need something solid that will give a perfect measurement each time and this does just that.

The lipped edge means you’re able to hold it tight against the wood to ensure you have a straight edge to work from.

A great addition to the tool box.

I can see this WORKPRO Triangle Ruler Protractor quickly becoming an invaluable addition to my tool kit. Its nice and chunky and robust, but not heavy, with lovely easy to see and read digits. Has so many uses when doing DIY or for a professional tradesperson.

Having recently moved house I didn’t realise how much I needed this. Everything is easier with a nice set square. This one isn’t great for all situations as it’s cut from thick aluminium. However it’s ideal for marking and cutting wood, skirting and architrave.
There is a slight notch in the corner to get a pencil mark right on the spot rather than just off.
The markings aren’t showing any sign of wear yet.
Overall it’s a reasonable value for money.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersCurrently available at 12.99. I bought this to make some raised garden flower bed frames out of wood and need a right angle ruler to sit on the wood and to draw the lines to cut along. This will be ideal for that – sits comfortably along the wood edge I’ve tried it on. I also want to sell some trinkets and jewellery on eBay and will be able use this for the measurements so people can easily see scale, width and height all at the same time in my photos. Lovely colour and paint finish and seems well made. It has a lot of functionality I probably won’t use but my husband will no doubt be able to use it for various DIY jobs around the house. A good addition to the family tool box!

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersThe square is well made and is lightweight but has a very solid feel. The machining of it is good and the print is tidy. It measures square when comparing it to other set squares in my garage. The only issue I had was the colour. It does look nice but the white on blue text can be hard to read when light is reflecting on it, so I’d suggest sticking to a black one if your eyesight isn’t the best.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersI have set of try squares which do the job to an extent, but they were a cheap set and I have found that they have the tiniest bit of a wobble at the joint which sometimes ends with markings being slightly off square. I decided to get this set square as it will very obviously never suffer from that flaw.

It certainly has a nice solid, weighty feel in your hand and after checking with a number of measuring tools I can confirm it is spot on 90 degrees. I strongly suspect that my try squares will stay on the shelf now that I have this.

This device is what I would describe as a combination set-square and protractor, designed for marking up wood and other materials. It’s made from anodised aluminium alloy, so it’s lightweight and fairly durable.

The device is essentially a 180mm right-angle triangle with a stop on one edge. There are useful cutouts and clear markings that we very helpful when measuring and marking-up.

Measurements in millimetres are along the opposite edge to the stop and measurements in degrees are along the long edge. There is a ‘pivot point’ notch but I have serious doubts about its effectiveness.

Overall, this is a reasonably priced set-square/protractor combination for marking up wood.

This set square came just in time for us to use whilst installing our new kitchen; hubby was thrilled to bits with it.

It’s strong and sturdy, so should stand up to workman use, not just home use and it is accurate. Hubby found it useful and was so pleased that this came through the door right when he needed it.

This little tool has a decent amount of useful features to make it a worthwhile buy for anyone that does any kind of joinery/carpentry and wants a reasonably priced, well made rafter square.

The quality of the manufacturing and finish is pretty decent with anodised blue and laser etched markings for contrast in white and the working edges machined smooth with no burrs or rough edges, it looks like it should hold up to regular use without wearing out too quickly.

Despite being very lightweight, it feels robust and easily capable of taking a few knocks and the features packed in will make it versatile as well as robust.

Workpro seem to make a decent job of producing reasonably priced but decent quality tools for the amateur DIYer and I’m sure this will get plenty of use around the workshop in future.
