In short, its the upgraded perfect entry level controller.
I personnally can talk for hours on how good the design of the xbox one controller and Microsoft knows its a outstanding design. So how do you improve it? Simple… for the most part… you dont.
There are little improvements, first of all the hand grips are a little rounder, this helps my small handed wife feel confortable while able to reach all the buttons, but the change isnt too different from the xbox one controller so it still feels confortable. The only issue here is it made the battery panel a slightly different size so your old battery pack may need a new cover
Next is where your fingers go, thats now doted, resulting in a grip like feel instead of the xbox one’s smooth nature.
and thats it… unless you count the “share” button in terms of design confort
So what else has changed? WELL…
If you have a original Xbox one controller, you will be happy to know this now has bluetooth, so you can easily connect it to your phone, smart TV or even your PC and this is saved into the second mode on the controller, so double clicking the “sync” button results in you easily switching between your Xbox and bluetooth device
The controller now has a USB type C port for charging and wired connections so you wont need to be replacing the cable every month (USB Micro B was really awful) and can connect the cable in any direction (in both terms of the word). I personally am a PC user who has it wired in all the time.
And thats it. You can connect your old Xbox one mic, keyboard, etc to it. The controller has a headphone jak still (if you had the original xbox one controller …. suprise it has a headphone jak now).
So if you dont care about that and have a xbox one controller. Then keep that controller. Its fully compatible with the series s/x
I never used a controller I have always been a keyboard gamer but my son noticed myself struggle on Assassin’s creed odyssey fighting so he bought me this as he said they are the best controller for pc after trying others like the PlayStation controller which he hated. He found this Xbox controller the best and after getting to grips with it as an old fossil Hehe I find it far better for fighting games. he also got me the charge pack so can do either Bluetooth or cable. Being a computer gamer since my first zx81 Hehe then spectrums onwards I am a gamer and I recommend this fantastic controller.
