Oh Wow!
This is amazing. The picture shows how many flies this has caught in 2 week! It’s amazing!
I have just ordered another 4 as there’s no way I could empty this myself.
All those flies would have been in my house. Yuk!!! This trap works and I will carry on buying.
My family have also purchased, as these traps are so good. Highly recommend.
This has got to be the best fly catcher ever , when we sit in the garden we use this to stop the flies coming near you , they don’t bother us anymore they head straight to this , don’t know what’s in it , but the flies seem to love .
Can’t be put inside the house, it’s meant for outside.
Bought to hang in my shed as my rabbits have their hutches in there for nighttime away from the foxes and to keep my rabbits free from nasty flies these work perfectly.
The flies are immediately drawn to it and that’s it ! They can’t get back out and it’s surprising how many get trapped in there .
I wait till it’s quite full then bag it up and chuck it away as it’s pretty gruesome with thousands of dead flies in. I did read you can buy refill powders but that involves tipping the liquid and flies out which sounds disgusting but each to their own.
Got 2 up, one out the front, one out the back. After 2 weeks they are nearly full. Stinks though, that’s the only problem, not nice sitting in the garden with the smell. Can smell it. 2 -3 metres away.
I was a little sceptical to begin with.. the first week or so there was only a handful of flies in there so didn’t have high hopes. However once the warm weather hit the bottle literally became half full with flies. There’s now literally thousands in there and there are always several flies on-top of it. Only thing I will say is try not to have it too close to windows or doors as when the bottle starts to fill the smell is awful. The instructions also recommend changing them every 3-4 weeks but mines been going for over that and flies are still going in. I top it with a little water now and then as it evaporates.
I don’t think I’ve ever left a review for anything I have bought, generally whatever I have bought does the job and I’m never excited enough to bother putting pen to paper or rather fingers to keyboards. However, these Fly Traps are truly marvellous! Fed up with being surrounded with flies, bit like Dirty McSquirty from the Perishers if you are old enough to remember the cartoon or Pig Pen from Peanuts if you are that bit younger, particularly when trying to eat outside in the sunshine (that’ll be twice a year but enough to drive me insane) I bought these things on a whim. Filled it up, stuck it on the outside table and as the instructions say it takes 24 hours to activate thought I would have to wait a few days to see any action but no, within a few hours it was attracting the beastly things from all over the world!!! This lot would probably have found their way into my house but instead here they are trying to swim the distance of the channel in circles in a plastic tub and giving me great satisfaction watching them. These things provide hours of mesmerising action, if you like watching flies slowly drown which I do. Joking aside, they are worth the money and do what they are supposed to.
I wanted to try this before leaving a review. The order arrived quickly and secure. I have placed one of these outside my back door as l have so many flies getting in during warmer days. It takes 24 hours before the flies are attracted to it. So pleased it works, l can have a fly free kitchen this summer.
This product is so effective its disgusting. Within a few days, the entire jar is filled to the rim with dead flies. like thousands and thousands in the jar. Revolting.
Within a few hours caught 8 flys.
Set up trap a few feet away from some fresh fox’s poo.
Fly’s preferred the trap.
Thats not saying the attractant smelt worse than the fox’s mess, it doesn’t.
I’ve been trying for years to make my own traps from lemonade bottles with all sorts of home made attractants to no avail. These traps work.
And I will be buying the refill pouches when needed. Please keep at reasonable price.
he traps work incredibly well, surprisingly so however as the flies die in the container once its about half full it starts to smell disgusting, it literally smells like death which I guess does attract more flies but as soon as wind picks up the smell spreads. Effect 10/10 the smell -1000000/10 despite how well it works because of the stench we will not be buying it again. I should add we have a small garden in London, if you have a bigger garden/open space the smell probably won’t be an issue.
These things never fail to amaze me with how effective they are. I purchased a number of these during the summer and by the time summer was over, they must have caught thousands of flies. 100% recommend.
I am honestly amazed that this works. I always see things like this that state how effective they are but I’m always skeptical.
Within minutes mixing the solution up, the flies are buzzing around it. Admittedly it does absolutely stink but it does exactly what it says. Had these up in the summer and flies in the house dwindle to nothing.
I don’t know whats in the mixture and I’m not sure I want to know but I will continue to use this product.
For some unknown reason when ever we open our double doors to the garden, we get inundated woth flies. Little ones, bug ones, tonnes of them. Annoying and gross.
So I ordered these and I actually ended up ordering 2 x 2 packs they were so good.
Simple add the bait powder, fill 2/3 of the way up, pop the lid on and away you go. Over the space of a couple of months we had to strain and empty these fly catchers as there were so many dead flies in there that news one entering were able to lift on a raft of their dead friends…… I have jsut today emptied and set about cleaning them ready for a refill.
The bait itself f9esnt smell at all, and there are no dangerous chemicals… however, they are so good at catching flies, you will end up not wanting to keep them in your house. Hundreds of dead flies decomposing in water smells like death and arse…. my advice, strain regularly. It wills till end up smelling as you’ll need to be reusing the water with the bait mix in, so dead fly smell is unavoidable.
These work superbly well. I’ve just ordered a refill of bait packs! Highly recommended product.
It arrived as stated, easy to use and very quickly started to catch flies. Within 2 weeks it was full and needed to be emptied. Its easy to empty and was out ready for a refill of the special powder.
These work really well, just don’t put them anywhere near down wind of open doors or where you are going to sit.
We thought we had blocked drains the first time we used them, until we realised it was these that smealt so bad. No take more note of where they are placed and they work well.
I thought the photos were marketing BS. I bought it, hung it up at the back of the garden and said nothing. A week later the wife had noticed it and was disgusted, but happy, as significantly fewer flies had made it into the house…. Because they were all dead in this thing.
I have a huge affection for products that just work exactly as stated and this is one of them. The hardest part was finding a place to hang it where nobody would mess with it or knock it accidentally. PS, that was actually easy but was the hardest bit of the process. Anyone can use this thing, just set it up and watch the little bu**ers get stuck.
These work really well, I’ve caught a LOT of flies over the summer, that would otherwise have been a nuisance. The only issue is the smell. I emptied and refilled with a new sachet every week, but it still stinks, like rotten meat. So don’t hang too close to an open door or window.
After reading people’s recommendations for this product on social media I thought what can it hurt to try it. We had bothersome flies in the house and although we have an electric blue light it was dealing with the issue.
As you can see from the attached photos we have caught about 200 flies in the space of a couple of weeks. Once the water runs down you just top it up and hang it back up.
I’m so glad I bought this product and would recommend it to anyone who has pets or just a huge annoyance with flies.
The flies go in but can’t get back out.
It does smell extremely bad but if you take precautions and don’t spill it or get it on yourself it’s fine. You can’t smell it when it’s hanging outdoors
Have a small yard which attracts a lot of flies as we have a dog. Have been using this trap for 2 weeks and it has worked a treat. There must be hundreds of flies in the container drowning in the bodies of their family and friends!!! Only downside is that it absolutely stinks of poo!!! But it does the job. There’s no way I’m emptying and reusing as it is putrid.
he instructions say to wait 24 hrs before expecting results but they started working right away. Cut down number of flies circling the wheelie bins by 90% . Less than a week later, i’m ordering bait refills as filling up fast. Highly recommended.
This was a bit of a surprise as did not know what to expect.
As you can see from the photo, this gadget is super effective. I put it up about a month ago.
I was fed up with flies coming in the house. I now have none.
I put it right by the back door, you don’t know is there unless you look up.
I am so pleased with it, I had sent the link to friends and family, they all wanted one.
Not the nicest looking thing but very pleased with the purchase.
Easy to use and does a great job. Seemed to attract flies from miles away as it was filling up really quickly. TBH we’re not sure if this actually increased the amount of flies around, so we moved it away from the house a little further to prevent them gathering near the doors and windows. It isn’t the most attractive looking item so we put it out of sight behind a garden ornament. It isn’t suitable for use inside as it smells really bad (can see why it attracts so many flies). Easy to dispose of when it’s full – just twist the top shut and drop in the wheelie bin.
It works what more is there to say I did write an independent review but apparently it didn’t conform to guidelines so all I’m going to say is buy it as it is superb better than anything I’ve tried before
The Fly trap is a great design and catches wasps and small flying insects by the Hundreds and I am not exaggeratingwe have hung them outside the hous.admittedly it is the chemical powder that does the job of big time attraction when mixed with water..smelling like rotting meat and the contents of your garbage bin.
So reasonable in price.we have noticed a huge reduction in flies and wasps in the house.
I have these hung in my garden to stop flies coming in when the doors are open. Amazing to watch the bottles fill so quickly! Best device I’ve found. Haven’t worked yo the courage yet to empty the though…
I got this on a lightening deal and was sceptical but for the money I thought I’ll try it, I was shocked at how many it catches and retains.
Totally surprised because I was expecting it to do nothing but I was shocked to see that a product actually works and does what they say.
When this goes on offer again I’ll buy more
Best not it hang it close to any seating as it smells like fresh sewage, thought the cat did a sneaky one for a while. No flies caught as yet but giving it a chance
It works very well, position seems to affect how well it works, it does say in the instructions to locate it in the sun and out of the wind. When it bake’s in the sun the fly’s are all over it. Getting the fly’s out is quite disgusting, not wanting to throw the bait away I used a spoon to scoop the fly’s out, holding your breath is essential, it will make you heave, but this is what makes it so attractive to the fly’s. Well worth the money.
It definitely works. I wanted to use it inside the home but it didn’t really catch them and the smell was foul. Outside it caught loads. I also did empty and used it again with honey brown sugar and apple cider vinegar which worked just aswell. I don’t think I would attempt it again though as the smell is just horrible so easier to throw away. But if you want to save money you can re use.
I bought this after seeing reviews and having a daily issue with flies getting into the house when windows open and buzzing around the kitchen and generally being annoying!
This hasn’t even been in the garden a week yet and not had a single fly come indoors as all gravitate towards the trap in the garden.
Will 100% be buying again and using from now on.
The best party in the neighbourhood for flies…and although it’s a once you’re in, you’re in, it tends to encourage more flies to be in the garden and therefore more coming in the house.
Bit of a double edged sword situation!
Works well. Can see a lot of flys in it after a few days, used to to stop them coming into kitchen near the window outside, only downside is after a few days it absolutely hums, like really smells!
I honestly cannot recommend this enough. I was on the verge of a meltdown due to the flies in my house. I love having my windows and doors open on the summer but felt like I couldn’t due to the influx of flies. I was going through Raid like there was no tomorrow and then hoovering up dead flies. I genuinely was at breaking point over it. Then my sister in law recommended I buy this, I bought it a week ago and this is it today.
I’m currently sat with my back doors open in my fly free home, watching the horrible things fly into the catcher. I’ve seen a 99% reduction in the volume of flies coming into my house. They just head straight to the catcher. My mum and sister have bought them too, and a few days in can’t rate it enough.
Stocking up immediately!
Firstly, as a rural area, we get ALOT of flies. These work, but I still have some flies in the house – we’re bound to with doors and windows open in the good weather. Secondly, I have to not get too close to these as I feel so guilty when I see how full they are and see the flies struggling to climb over all the others trying to survive; it’s like a fly version of Dante’s ‘Divine Comedy’ and I’m going to have to get hubby to bury the contents of the jars. I’m hoping that as so many are filling both jars next Summer we may have far less flies. Fingers crossed.
Our kitchen was plagued with flies, we got this fly catcher and we were very impressed with it. We placed the catcher within a couple of feet from our kitchen door and immediately it worked and killed nearly all the flies. We would definitely recommend this product..
It does last around a month and the container is full and I mean full of the pesky creatures.
There is no smell with the product and the flies are fully contained inside the product and cannot escape once they enter the death trap.
This fly trap? Picture it as the poshest nightclub in Bugsville, and every fly is buzzing to get on the guest list. Only snag? Once they’re in, there’s no after-party or cheeky Nando’s. Setting it up was a doddle; I nearly got myself an exclusive invite. Thankfully, there’s a strict “no touching the talent” rule, so you’re spared any close encounters of the fly sort.
Design-wise, it’s not poised to grace the pages of “Pest Vogue”, but it’s got that understated “I trap things” chic. As for durability, if there were a fly-version of James Bond, it’d still be trapped in this device, sipping a martini — shaken, not buzzed.
To wrap it up, if flies had their own version of WhatsApp, their status would be: “Checked into The Fly Trap… indefinitely!” For anyone wanting to become the buzz of the insect world, this trap is your golden ticket!
This is a refill for a fly trap, so if you don’t have the original, you need to get that first.
This stuff is incredible. We seem to get a lot of flies in the garden, so when I saw the Zero In Fly Catcher, I thought I’d give it a try. After just a few minutes, there were 4 or 5 flies in the trap. But the next day, there were many more as the bait started to activate.
After three weeks, it’s full and I’ve just bought these refills so that I can continue using it through the summer.
Since I put this up outside, I have seen hardly any flies inside the house as they all get attracted to this first.
Up close, the bait smells like rotting meat, but it’s not so strong that you can smell it from more than a few feet away, but the flies can obviously detect it.
OMG does this thing work!!
When it’s warm we have our kitchen door open and the number of flies that used to come and buzz around the house was unreal. We hung this up outside, close to the door and other than the odd one that very occasionally manages to avoid it it is an absolute fly magnet (the picture speaks for itself). Just put the powder that comes with it into the bottom of the container, add water and put the lid on, that’s it. 24hrs later it’s catching flies for the weeks to come. The only downside is the slight odour it gives off, but it’s a necessary evil to catch those pesky flies. I don’t know why we didn’t get one sooner!!
I started using these last year as my neighbour has several bins of garden and household waste right next to the separating fence and they attract so many flies that I couldn’t even sit outside. Just opening the door resulted in getting pelted in the face with multiple fat bluebottles. The “catchers” are super easy to use – you just pour the powder into the jar and add water, screw on the cap and tie it up somewhere away from the door.
The liquid doesn’t smell too bad on its own, a bit vinegary maybe, but you’ll want it far away when it starts working as it soon begins to smell like death. Because it’s filled with death. So much death.
Within about 10 minutes of stapling it up on the fence, about 3-4 feet off the ground and in a shaded area, the flies were sniffing around it. I watched for about an hour as one after the other they flew over, got nosy, wandered in, and were trapped. If you’re at all upset about the suffering of flies, this really isn’t for you, because they definitely suffer. They panic, and they can’t escape, and they’re forced to stay, surrounded by the floating bodies of their friends as they slowly die. And the smell is horrific. It filled to the brim and still attracted more. It just didn’t ever stop working, or smelling.
When I eventually took it down, I stood it up inside a bag, tied it off, then stood that inside another bag, tied that off, then put another bag over the top and tied it off at the side near the bottom, all whilst keeping it perfectly upright, and then stood it up inside another bag in the bin, in a position that means it cannot fall over and will not fall over when the bin is tipped to be taken to the kerb. The inside of the bin always smells, that’s unavoidable, but you really don’t want to make it worse by letting this thing leak after it’s been filled. Some people empty them and refill them but honestly, no thanks. The 3 sachets are roughly the same price as 2 full units, and they’re not much more than a fiver to begin with. I’m not putting myself through those horrors, let alone risking the dog sniffing it out and eating it, all for the sake of a couple of quid.
I will say, too, that you might want to wrap the bottle in the plastic that they come packaged in, just to hide the contents from view, as it’s really not pretty. So much death and decay and maggots and nastiness. I wrap the other from the double pack with a few layers of brown packing tape for the same effect and both ways survive the rain happily.
Some have said that it attracts “more flies” than they’d seen before, which I suppose is probably true, but only because all of the flies from any surrounding gardens are all congregating in yours, getting trapped in your stinky death jar. My neighbour put up their own fly catching jar (more of a cone really, like a piping bag) from a different brand after seeing mine, and it’s still hanging up a year later with just a few flies ever getting stuck in it. They definitely preferred my superior death jar, and whilst my neighbours may never have thanked me for saving their summer by killing all of the flies for them, I’d still do it again.
Genuinely, I will buy these for as long as they make them. They’re disgusting, but they’re excellent.
I saw, I read on here how good it was, and I bought it. First purchased a few years ago, and now purchased again as it really does catch flies. I have bought both these and just the additive only. I have used this, another hanging fly catcher, plus made my own over the last couple of years.
Pros- Easy to use, you mix the additive with 300ml warm water in the trap, put it where you would like it and off you go. Can be used at ground level or hung up. It starts catching quick – the trap is very effective at catching flies and the access design means they don’t fly back up once in. When the weather is warmer, it catches flies within a couple of hours as soon as it’s out. Once it gets going, it catches more and more as the dead putrid ones attract their friends. Currently being early April, it is only catching small ones but when the weather warms up, there will be big flies in there 🙂 It can be left at the back of a chicken run on the ground doing its stuff, with the hens not interested at all. I have used another type of fly trap that works on the same principle and it took 2 weeks to start to catch flies in any quantity and this trap/additive works very fast in comparison.
Cons – The small size of the jars. When you start catching the flies, it fills… fast. I filled one in just under two days during one of the hot summers we’ve had. Can be messy and very, very, very smelly when emptying and refilling, especially if there’s maggots & putrified flies in there! Being careful with the fly juice is a must if you plan on emptying and refilling as this is one liquid you do not want to accidentally splash in your eye. It will also stink your bin out if it accidentally leaks so caution advised in disposal. Also, it is smelly if you get an accidental whiff but not as smelly as others I’ve had. It certainly doesn’t stink a garden out, nor house at 10m. The price is a bit steep as well for a small bottle plus some mix (it has gone up considerably from what I’ve previously paid).
Overall, these fly traps made a big difference to the flies in my garden last year and it was noticeable when I had traps out, to not having traps out. The entry design means it doesn’t take in water when it rains, which is good (unlike my home made ones). I just wish they were bigger, that you could just purchase replacement bottles only and that the price was reasonable 🙂
We’ve had lots of flies in the house and especially the kitchen over this hot weather and wanted to do something about it. Wasn’t keen on the “world’s worst Xmas decoration” hanging fly paper option and whilst I’d considered the electric fly killers, they either don’t work or give off a loud snap each time one bites the dust. Apparently this also means you can get bits of exploded fly in your kitchen – not ideal.
This seemed like a it was worth a try – cheap enough to not feel short-changed if it didn’t work but with great reviews. So, got it set up – it’s an odd smell for sure, but not like rotting roadkill (which is what some of these things do smell like) – despite it saying it would need 24 hours to work, by morning there were already a handful of flies in and now, after less than a week it’s probably over half full. It seems to work particularly well those medium-sized metallic-green flies, which were the ones causing us most problems. It has also caught some wasps but no bees or bumblebees (which I was worried about so kept checking).
It has 100% kept flies out of the house and now, sat in the sun (hidden from site) there are generally more flies buzzing around it. You could have it close to the house without the smell being a problem – we’ve got it about 15 – 20 feet from the kitchen and you wouldn’t know it was there other than the reduction in the number of flies. It’s so effective I’ve signed up to a subscribe and save offer on the refill sachets. That’s the other advantage of this over the one-use options – you can re-use the container, though I’m not looking forward to emptying it I’ll be honest. The only flies it seems less good at catching are those smaller, slow moving ones that love flying in circles in the middle of a room – those are still coming in, but, I think, in reduced numbers. But for the annoying ones that buzz round your food this has been brilliant. Exceeded expectations – A1, 100% recommend.
UPDATE after a few weeks:
Having now used after a few weeks this has continued to impress. I would say though that once it starts to get a bit fuller and the contents starts to rot a bit, the smell does get pretty strong – but that’s what attracts the flies so that’s definitely not a problem with the product, just something to be aware of in terms of where you’re putting it. The disposal isn’t the most pleasant task in the world, but the suggestion to bury it (deep and away from any windows!) is sensible.
After emptying them I thought that with the hot weather perhaps behind us I wouldn’t bother to set them back up again just yet. Big mistake – the number of flies inside instantly increased, showing how effective this is. Set one trap back up earlier and within 2 hours there were 12 flies in there despite it saying that it will take 24 hours to start working – amazing!
