I encountered a problem with foxes that were causing damage by chewing through my car’s cables. After researching solutions on online platforms and forums, I came across a recommendation for using spikes as a deterrent. Intrigued by the idea, I decided to give them a try. The spikes effectively discouraged the foxes from accessing the area beneath the car, where important brake and battery cables are located.
However, I did notice some shortcomings with the spikes that led me to give them a lower rating. Many of the connectors were either broken or came off entirely, which affected their overall performance. In order to address this issue, I implemented a solution by using twisties. This modification allowed me to easily remove the spikes from under the car without worrying about them falling apart. With this adjustment, the effectiveness of the spikes improved.
In conclusion, while the spikes initially held promise as a fox deterrent for my car’s cables, there were issues with the quality of the connectors. Through my own initiative and the use of twisties, I was able to mitigate these problems and enhance the overall performance of the spikes.
Product is excellent. I bought it to stop my neighbours cat hiding in my garden and attacking my cat. It works perfectly. I put it behind the bushes and now the cat can’t get behind to ambush my cat anymore. Would also work for just stopping them digging up the soil if you’ve planted something.
So I have weaponised hedges, and other areas that should stop any unwanted intrusions with these spiked mats. They are plastic, and pointed enough to discourage, not hurt anything not wanted. They are easy to use, just lay flat at any entry points. They are black, so shouldn’t look unsightly.
So far, no Moggy!
I thought I’d try these, and have managed to fit them into the aperture by hooking them together on both sides.
This seems to have worked as a deterrent – the cats can’t launch themselves onto the ledge without landing on the prickly surface and I haven’t seen them or any evidence of their visits since I did this.
I’ll make the fixing more secure with cable ties, but so far it seems to be very effective.
