I have this managed hub for completing link aggregation for my NAS, it’s excellent.
Easy to set up. Inexpensive but with good functionality e.g. VLANs. Good web interface. Difficult to fault, especially for the price.
VLAN on a budget, great little router for the price. Works perfectly allowing my modem on one vlan to pass into pfSense vm on proxmox so fault tolerant.
Using switch as part of AV set up and have had zero issues would buy again if I ever need to expand set up
Works great. good replacement in my setup for one of the better known brands. Recommending 100%
Nice switch for the price. Only thing missing is being able to get SNMP data from it.
Bought this to distribute vlans and it couldn’t be easier to setup
Great device for ethernet connevt. Best managed switch I have brought for home. Will buy another one.
Maybe best value for money managed switch. Excellent quality from Zyxel!
I like Zyxel’s networking kit and run some of their GS1900 series switches too. I needed a small switch for an outbuilding that had outgrown its two cables and I needed PoE for a phone and cameras, so it was this or Tenda or Netgear. The Netgear cheapo PoE has no management capability at all and I’d like to be able to assign VLANs; the Tenda was more expensive than this, plus I know Zyxel.
The management options available are just the very basics – simple VLANs, some QoS – and the GUI is a more funky look but totally different in structure from the much more complex UIs of the GS1900 series. It does the job, though 🙂
NB; port 5 is not PoE, only ports 1-4 have power. The power supply, as always with PoE, is a large-ish ‘brick’ with cables in and out; it’s nearly as big as the switch!
All set up in 10 minutes and ready to rock and roll. Hopefully this will give many years of good service.
Metal case. Switch included on the 12VDC input cable.
Limited functionality but good enough as a PoE switch with decent power.
Fab little managed switch perfect for my needs. Metal case makes it feel robust and will obviously help with passive cooling. All in all very happy with it. Update so good bought a second one
It’s cheap, the metal case is nice, it does the trick, but there are some annoying limits:
– Password limited to 15 characters
– No apparent SSH or Telnet interface
– Absurdly short web interface timeout and can’t change
– Can’t change management VLAN from 1
And these are just some of the most basic limitations. But it’s cheap and will do the trick for most home users at a very low price, just a shame the software doesn’t allow a bit more.
