Item seems OK, seems to do what it says though I would need to use more before fully deciding.
What I found the hardest was putting the 8mm film through the converter, probably because I have largish hands the space is very small. I also found it very difficult to see in the converter area as very dark and hard to see, had to get a torch in my mouth to help. It would also really help if some sort of brake could be put on the feeding wheel whilst you threaded the film as that spins loosely causing the film to move too much causing problems in the initial set up because the film was loose
The instructions could be more helpful in my opinion, had to go online to find help.
Once the film was in with the door closed the rest was very easy to do and started the job as described. The end product on the Super8mm was jerky in places, seems the film sometimes is pulled back a frame after a few forward moves giving a black line occasionally. That could be me and once I have used a few more times I may have a different end result. Bit pricy in my opinion for what it is and does!
The end product quality (definition) is what I expected from old film, was viewable.
Like that it saves to MP format so editing can be later.
one problem that arose, was with damaged film stock. But with this machine you can record from the broken ends of films. It does record as separate mpegs, but at least you don’t loose any film footage!
The machine from Kedok makes simple and easy work of that. Simple load up your old film, run it through the film scanner and let the machine do it’s thing. With hardly any input it runs through the whole reel and records everything, you can then decide what to do with your new MP4 versions of your old treasured family videos.
They are great for sharing with friends and family and reminiscing about times of old.
easy to use
simple to store
great to enjoy
The image quality is very impressive though I’m not saying perfect. The transfer rate is a bit low but please do not watch closely just for nothing – let it go and enjoy overnight.
I have been using it for weeks, quality product to recommend.
We are moving into a digital world now and really we do not need to store all our old stuff. Well, it saved a lot 8 mm film from being lost – saving me a lot space and hassles.
You simply place your film on on one end of the digitizer push it through and it pulls everything through digitising it as it plays, it’s a rather slow process but one that is necessary in order to both not damage the film but also gain the quality that you should expect from digitising any older film.
We’ve converted everything straight over into MP fours which are now underway on being checked on a PC as well as quite a few adaptations to make them more watchable for a whole family overall it’s been a very simple straight forward process that does take a little bit time but it’s worth it in the end.
Image quality also great, if the film not too much damaged then it’s clean.
It has led display where can set up the settings. Scanned films saved in MP4 format to SD card.
On back it has usb slot, TV out slot, memory cards slot and power adapter entry.
I use take for smaller projects to local photostudio now can do them at home as well, without spending extra.
Good quality and simple to use.
Got this one which can use various sizes. also usage is very simple, not complex, straight forward. It doesn’t need to be professional or have a filming editing background. its just putting the film right way and plugging memory card. By the way memory card also included in the box.
Good decent quality conversion, image colours and clarity well balanced.
I will say its nice device which anyone can do without any filming professional background.
This is an easy to use converter straight from the box, with clear film loading instructions; frame and exposure adjustments can be made before conversion starts. Some care needed when using the control buttons as it is a little ‘front heavy’. The 3″ 7″and 9″ take up spools are not included in package and if required need to be purchased separately.
A 30yr old 3 minute super 8 movie was successfully converted with no problems, taking approximately 30 minutes. Image is grainy when played back on smart tv but quality on tablet & smart phone is very good.
The results with a 60yr old 200ft standard 8 film were varied, but I think this is probably due to the age and condition of the film.
Good result again with a 40yr old super 8 400ft film, though an annoying squeak developed during this conversion which I’ve attributed to the size of the larger take up spool I had to purchase.
A large stack of reels still waiting to be digitised so only time will tell if the converter is up to the job.
All in all a neat piece of kit.
