Bought for a person with disability easy to put together and he loves i
Easy to build, only problem was 1 missing piece and a duplicate of another (see pics)
Apart from that, really cool model
Did not go together as well as others, wings were a little twisted and had to alter a part slightly to fit.
Quick to build and ideal to display on a model shelf or inside a glass cabine
These are a great introduction for kids to get into model building. They look fantastic and my boys love playing with them. My only gripe is that some parts dont click together very well.
Relatively easy to construct although the plans could have been better and clear. Our Grandson loves it.
My kids love the quick build sets. The instructions are great, very easy to follow and the finished items are brilliant. Quite a bit of detail and very robust.
These are an excellent step before lego builds!
This was a gift for my 8yr old, put together with his Daddy and the plane it’s self is excellent once complete, only knocked a star off for the instructions being so difficult to follow
Bought for my grandson’s birthday and arrived on time and he was delighted with it as it was so easy to build
Bought for a 9 year old but even with adult assistance the pieces don’t lock together particularly securely and it can take quite a bit of force to manipulate a couple of pieces into position and have them lock to the others without leaving big cracks along the plane.
It’s a fun project for the kiddo and a good price but I think I might go for the more expensive Lego sets in future purely because they click together more firmly and are more kid-friendly.
A good quality toy with the parts fitting well together and holding tight. Straightforward to build. Looks very nice and offered to my 6yo for a few days of play (outside building it) which was more than I expected.
The Amazon pictures and details show this product is for age 5+
I received the correct item….however my box says age 6+ – see attached photos.
I contacted the Airfix company and they said: ”As I am led to understand, the age rating for this product was always intended to be 5+ however this led to issues selling the product in the United States as their version of 5+ so to speak is 6+. To accommodate this, the age rating was changed on all of our stock to say 6+, however we still market this within the UK as 5+”
I thought this information might be useful for anyone buying this item.
Very good.
Kids loved building and playing with this model.
Also have typhoon, harrier and f22 that are also great and I recommend.
The f35 (with moving parts) seemed even better at first, however snapped within minutes of children playing with it and wouldn’t recommend that one.
Suitable for the age range and takes long enough to fit together to keep a child amused
One part for the stand wasn’t a correct fit but OFH wise it’s a great Lego puzzle. My 3 year old boy sussed it ou
A nice idea to get kids into kit building. Given as a present and recipient very happy, only four stars as it is rather expensive for the time it takes to put togethe
Great kit for my seven year old to enjoy. He followed the instructions and completed it alone. There’s an optional stand to hold the finished product which I thought was a good idea.
Bought for a 5 year old, but enjoyed by all in the family! Clips together easily, no glue, no tools needed. Makes a beautiful little model with smooth edges. The decals (ie stickers) are accurate too.
Shape and detailing good, however the red colour indicated on the packaging is better than the actual model colour.
Some pieces do not ‘lock in’ securely as would be expected, this also occurs with other models.
For the price, Airfix needs to up their quality control.
Great fun for the kids to make although the tail section does snap quite easy. We’ve purchased the red and black hawks and the tail snapped on both. Nothing a little bit of super glue can’t sort out.
These quick builds are great! If your child (or yourself in my case) doesn’t have the patience for full airfix builds (I know this is the attraction of airfix to some people) this is a great alternative! They are indeed quick builds, and you’ve got a great model at the end of it! Have got a number of these over the past while and all good quality! Would recommend!
I wanted to do a model with my 4yo son. I got the real Airfix model at a school fete but it was too tricky for a 4yo so we gave it to his 7yo cousin and bought this instead. It was great fun doing it together.
With just a little help, co-ordination and with tongue poking out in concentration, my 5yr old grandson snapped the pieces together with ease, he’s now the proud owner of something he assembled, boasts about and plays with, it’s a reasonable price and delivery was in good time…
Airfix’s Quick Build range is a bit like a cross between a traditional Airfix model and a Lego kit. Actually, it’s more Lego than Airfix to be honest and when Lego’s patent ran out recently, Airfix clearly saw an opportunity for a construction kit for younger, budding model builders.
So, this is something that falls somewhere between a real model and a toy. Whereas a “proper” Airfix Messerschmitt 109 will require glue, paint, a fair bit of time and a little skill, the “Quick Build” line is constructed very much along the line of Lego and simply clips together in a few minutes to produce something that looks a little (well, more than a little – I’m being uncharitable) like a Bf109.
You get about 35 parts, some stickers and a nicely visual instruction sheet and a stand.
For those who are interested, the finished plane is about 25cm across the wings, making this model roughly 1/40 scale.
As far as the “lego-ness” is concerned, it’s not quite as high quality as the real branded stuff, and the fit is just a little sloppy in places. Nothing to write to your MP about, but not excellent.
I do rather like this kit. I bought it for a slightly whimsical desk ornament at work and it fits that bill perfectly. I shall certainly buy the Airfix Quick Build Spitfire to go alongside this chappy.
I have just bought this easy to assemble model kit together with the Messerschmidt antagonist for my seven year old son. Both models were shipped in record time by Amazon and my boy managed to assemble the plane within a quarter of an hour without any difficulties. The parts match together well and the decals are easily attached. Together with his younger brother my son is now able to re-enact the Battle of Britain in our living room. All in all the Lego inspired system is a pleasant new addition to the classic back catalogue that is currently reissued by Airfix. Compared to the famous Danish company Airfix doesn’t offer any working features apart from the propellor – no opening canopy, no working landing gear, which costs the product one star in my rating. Another troublespot are the decals: once the model is crashed, the stickers will get lost pretty soon. It would have been a better choice to print the decals on the plastic parts (which is by the way, also the impression that you get when looking at the backside of the box). For me as a grown up who used to play with Airfix and Lego in his childhood alike, I’d be more than happy about a bigger scale model in the Quick Build range. How about developing a 1/24 Spifire for this series?
