Needed a high protection sunscreen due to anti biotic making me highly sensitive to sun just before a California holiday, it worked well, easy to apply and not oily, no reactions formula
I bought this brand because it is sunscreen with skincare and so far it has been amazing, I love the fact there is no white cast and that it absorbs quite well into skin and does leave a greasy residue
Suncream works as expected. Still a bit greasy but less so than cheap ones, and still very good value itself. Would buy again.
Hopefully next summer I can use up the rest!
A friend let me try hers and I was very impressed hence this purchase. I was fed up with bright red nose like Rudolph . Blends in so well. Use by itself or under foundatio
I noticed this brand via one of my favourite youtuber who is a doc she shared her real experience on daily simple skin routine…. Long story short, I have tried many brands before and my sensitive skin wasn’t happy until i found this, i have bought both SPF 30 & 50 for indoor and outdoor skin protection from UVA and UVB.
Goes on smoothly, easily absorbed, light and fragrance free. Doesn’t stain white clothing as other brands do. Reassuring product as created by a dermatologist plus altruistic values – win wi
I love this suncream. I am highly UV sensitive due to Lupus / SLE and this keeps me safe outdoors. I wouldn’t use anything else now. And it lasts for ages – a little goes a long way. I used this on holiday in Greece, and also daily in the UK. It’s brilliant, highly recommended
Altruist sunscreen was a fantastic find. It is a lovely soft cream and a treat to apply. I use it on my face and never worry about sunburn or damage. It’s just like wearing another moisturiser. And it’s one product I really wouldn’t be without, as I have a rather visceral dislike for sunscreens that are unnaturally smelly, sticky and stingy.
I have to use factor 50 everyday due to medication. I have sensitive skin but this cream is wonderful, I use it under my makeup and the rest of my exposed areas, it is as good as a moisturiser. I have been using it every day since April and really pleased with the product and would highly recommend it. I love the fact that when I buy it I’m helping a children’s charity too.
From the first use I loved it, with the slight green tint it covered all the red areas by my nose and chin, my foundation went on really nice over the top. Several hours and my skin still looks much more radiant than usual, and I’m 52
Not used this yet as using up another brand
Bought this as it was recommended by a dermatologist I saw for treatment of sun damage to 3 areas on my face – cheek chin and nose. Trusted her completely whilst not used yet have every confidence in her recommendation- plus great price
I also like the tube size (100ml) as it is small enough to put in my hand bag to take with me on particularly sunny days for re-application, but large enough to last a while and to share with others on-the-go. The size is also ideal for travel through airports that still enforce rules on limitations on liquids in hand luggage.
This is going to be my new go to suncream! Bought the bundle with the factor 50 spray and the 400ml factor 30 to take to Turkey! We were there during a heatwave where temps exceeded 45 degrees. My eldest daughter usually struggles with allergies to suncream and comes out in a rash but not with this. In that heat, none of us burned, it spreads easily and absorbs well! Plus we had loads left at the end of 11 days! Fabulous, highly recommend!
First and foremost, the formula is specifically designed to cater to those with sensitive skin, making it gentle and non-irritating. I appreciate how it doesn’t cause any stinging or discomfort upon application, unlike some other sunscreens I’ve tried in the past.
The SPF level in Altruist Sunscreen is impressive. It provides a high level of protection against harmful UV rays, effectively preventing sunburns and reducing the risk of long-term sun damage. This is especially important for individuals like me, who tend to burn easily.
What I love about this sunscreen is that it doesn’t leave any white cast on my skin. It blends in seamlessly and absorbs quickly, leaving a lightweight and non-greasy finish. This is perfect for daily use, as it doesn’t interfere with my makeup or leave any residue that could clog my pores.
Another great aspect of Altruist Sunscreen is its long-lasting effectiveness. I find that I don’t have to reapply it as frequently as some other sunscreens I’ve used. This is particularly beneficial for outdoor activities or beach trips, where constant reapplication may not be very convenient.
Furthermore, I greatly appreciate the commitment of Altruist Sunscreen to help those in need. For every purchase, a donation is made to support people with albinism in Africa, who are particularly vulnerable to skin cancer. It feels good knowing that by using this sunscreen, I am contributing to a good cause.
Overall, Altruist Sunscreen is a fantastic choice for those with fair and sensitive skin. It’s effective, gentle, and non-greasy, providing ample protection against the sun’s harmful rays. If you’re looking for a sunscreen that delivers on its promises and supports a meaningful cause, I highly recommend giving Altruist a try.
I’ve even started using their face wash and other products as I’ve been so impressed with the SPF and would recommend those too.
Formulated by dermatologists and at such a great price point it really is a no brainer. It’s not at all sticky, it’s just like a body lotion.
My dad has just been given the all clear after being diagnosed with a very rare and aggressive form of skin cancer. He now uses Altruist every day without fail.
Don’t hesitate to buy this, you really have nothing to lose, it’s a fantastic product.
It doesn’t cause me to breakout like normal face SPF and I now use it everyday instead of foundation.
I prefer to put it on with a foundation brush and it covers nicely.
Onto my second bottle now really pleased with it.
My son suffers badly with any products on his skin, Sun cream this year has been an absolute nightmare, with awful consequences for his delicate skin. I was recommended this product, after a patch test and no reaction we went for it, so happy we tried it, he has been able to safely enjoy the sun without awful skin breakouts. We just have to ensure he’s washing it off throughly everyday. Not sticky and doesn’t leave marks on his skin or clothes. A huge win for us.
I have dropped it a star and I shall tell thee why firstly it has amazing reviews so my honest star drop isn’t going to affect business and I care about this business! I’ve been buying this for years. BUT this isn’t as waterproof as I’d like, and on my holiday I had to choose a different spf50 for the pool. Now I know spf isn’t that effective in the pool, but my problem comes when I get out and reapply – if my bikini isn’t 100% dry, it will rub this off at the seams and I’m super pale, and I burn in those places. I don’t sunbathe to tan at all, I love to relax, under a shade, but I still burn, and the only way I can stop it is by getting out of the water, removing my bikini to dry it/myself, and apply spf. Then dressing when the bikini is dry not ideal.
This is a common issue with many spf’s but I think I’d give my 5* to one that is waterproof enough to withstand a little dampness from my bikini edges. I don’t know if it exists.
The best way for me I guess is to stay out of the sun 100%, or lay in some sort of full body UV suit.
I cannot use this on my face, it makes my eyes water, many spfs do this so this isn’t unusual. I have a dedicated face spf50.
Onto the not moany bit at all other times this spf is perfect for my body – I love that it’s moisturising, affordable and it does keep my very white sensitive skin safe in the sun. I take Carbamazepine for migraines and it makes me extra sensitive, I’ve burnt in the uk cloud so holidays to hot climates can cause some anxiety. I just got back for Cape Verde, I was stuck on the back of a pick up in 30+ degree direct sun, and wind, in the desert, parts of my skin exposed, panicking a little, because it was too rough/bumpy to reapply and I felt like I was frying. I’d applied this 2 hours earlier and knew I needed to top up it was some time before I topped up but at the end of the day I was still unburnt. This really is an amazing sunscreen. I spent 10 days closer to the equator than I’ve been in a long time and I’m still very white. Not a win for a lot of people, but for me I’m happy. I’ve had some serious burns in the past and know my skin cancer risk is higher, I’ve grown to love my skin.
On a side note the Altruist moisturiser is great! It’s the best skincare product I’ve found this year!
For starters, once put on the skin, there is a white cast but of course you spread it all over and rub it in so you’ve got the best coverage and absorbs nice. The more you rub in until absorbed, the more the white cast disappears. It will not leave a white cast after absorbing so don’t worry — so that’s fab!
Secondly, it pills if you don’t allow it to adequately soak into the skin. I learnt that the hard way when I accidentally applied more on top of my first layer before allowing the first layer to fully absorb — so therefore, the layer previously started to pill. So try not make that mistake! Pilling also ties down to your skincare (using too much moisturiser? perhaps serum?)
Next, it is VERY shiny. But after 10 mins, I noticed the shine died down by a lot so do it give it time! You can always mattify your face with a spf powder if necessary.
It’s PPD 39 so this is excellent!
I am yet to try it out as a base for make-up but I don’t have any make-up arriving for the next few weeks so I will update my review! I wear very minimal make-up (just concealer and use a skin tint with some translucent powder) so I do hope the spf will agree and not pill when I apply make-up (it’s always best to wait 30-60mins after applying spf before you start applying make-up so you can be ensured the spf is fully absorbed and will agree with your makeup more).
My ONLY con of this product is how it BURNS my eyes. Maybe upon applying I accidentally got some too close to my eyes and they started to water, sting, burn and was sore. I had to wash my eyes out I couldn’t cope anymore. I then reapplied some spf ever so gently where i had wash off and didn’t feel any burning anymore although I can feel it lingering at the moment, so it’s a hit or miss when it comes to eyes. It’s potentially better to use a different spf just for your eyes that you know doesn’t sting, but this one burns my eyes to hell which is such a shame since I don’t have any other spf on hand nor can I afford to buy a separate one for my eyes so I’m just gonna have to be careful.
Overall, great protection and absorbs nicely! I just hope to not experience anymore pilling and find a solution for the burning eyes. I need to find a solution as I am a contact lens wearer so I cannot be rubbing or washing my eyes if I got my contacts in!!
