This adjustable wrench does not lock unless it clamps onto something, a nut or a pipe for example.
The problem can be fixed in a couple of minutes.
Unscrew the pin in the clamp lever.
Insert a washer into the gap between the scroll and the body. (May need a bit of trial and error to find the correct thickness).
Replace the screw.
The locking mechanism pushes against the faces on the.nut you’re using it on, to lock. It a good tool for most times you’d use an adjustable.
I was sceptcicle about this at first
Now main part of my tool kit
It’s an adjustable spanner with a Mole grip for added grip
Sometimes you get a kind of in between grip with standard adjustable
This is where this exceeds once locked onto the nut you can lever or push the other end hence its like a third pair of hands
I would suggest a plumber or engineers best friend
Not for every day but when you need it it’s great
Must recommend
I’ve already got 3 different sized adjustable wrenches and whilst they’re great for the jobs they do, the locking lever on this one makes all the difference.
All adjustable wrenches should be made this way!
Very good tool, wish it had been available years ago.
The product of an unholy union of vise-grips and adjustable wrench. BUT IT WORKS! Get the size right then clamp it and it won’t keep slipping off. Great tool. I only bought it as a joke but now it’s one of may favourites.
Bought as a Christmas present for the mate who has everything! A nice unusual take on the locking plier thing. Looks and feels well made, though not been used in anger as ye
Not a bad price and much better than ordinary adjustable spanne
This spanner makes an easy job of hold the 2nd nut on a valve or compression fitting, without the damage of mole grips. Now I have it, I wouldn’t do without one!
Well I’m writing this review non the wiser, I bought this tool purely out of curiosity as to what aplication this would be useful..it is an unholy amalgamation of adjustable spanner and a set of mole grips after a thorough examination by myself and other colleagues we have come to a magnanimous decision its quirky its different it’s going to get used but at this particular hour we are still debating, what for?
Loved the fact that this gets over the usual adjustable Spanner problems of the jaws moving.
With this you always have a tight fit and far less chance of rounding the nu
There are some tools I uhm and ahh over for quite a while, before maybe or maybe not buying them. This tool was not one of those tools. As soon as I saw this tool on Amazon I bought it immediately. Naturally I’ve been rewarded by such impulsiveness by it dropping in price slightly shortly after my purchase. Such is life!
If you’ve ever used an adjustable spanner on a job, you’ll know that all too often, they slip off when under load, and as a result you can easily end up damaging the nut or bolt head, and usually end up damaging your knuckles. So you rummage around in your tool box and find a mole wrench. Now the mole wrench will definitely lock onto the hexagonal head, even after it’s been damaged by the adjustable spanner, but the chances are you’ll damage it even more.
Of course the best thing to do would have been to use the correct size socket or ring spanner for the job, but sometimes they are not to hand when you need to do the job, and so you make do with what you have.
This tool combines the benefits of the adjustable spanner and the mole wrench, and removes the downsides of both, leaving you with an excellent all in one solution that won’t damage your nut/bolt when used.
The downsides of this tool are that while it looks and feels as robust as a mole wrench, it really isn’t. The locking force is applied through the threads of the knurled adjusting helix, which is up to the job, but you’ll have to be sensible about how much force you use to lock onto your hex head.
An adjustable spanner is seldom the best tool for the job, but sometimes they can get you out of a tight spot. This tool is an excellent adjustable spanner, albeit quite a bit bulkier than a more traditional adjustable spanner. I just love the fact this thing exists. It’s a very neatly implementation of a great idea, and like some crazed magpie of a mechanic, I just had to have the nice shiny tool.
A correctly-fitting socket or spanner will almost always be the best way to tighten or loosen a nut or bolt, so it’s worth asking yourself why you think this tool will serve you better than the correct sized spanner or socket. Buy this because you want it, not because you need it.
My 5* rating reflects the fact that I love this ingenious hybrid spanner, and the much the same product from an alternative brand is a lot more expensive.
only reason it doesn’t get 5 stars is because a mil or 2 wobble, like with most cheap adjustable spanners, however the clamp helps sort this issue out. I would buy again.
Its a adjustable spanner that grips the nuts like a pair of mole grips.
Really well made tool that is a great addition to the Tool box. Works and does exactly what you would expect.
It’s a shame there are no instructions as I thought that this was faulty and almost returned it. The lock only works when it has a nut in the mouth of the spanner [wrench]. Without a nut the adjuster doesn’t lock. A small slip of paper with instructions would have saved a lot of my time, hence the 4 stars. Other than that it works well and is good value for money – I expect to use this when securing a nut to a bolt through a work piece and need one side to ‘stay on’ which this should resolve.
With the lock engaged the grip on the nut/bolt is very strong.
