This umbrella changed my life for the better. I’m now a devout umbrella clergyman and pray to the umbrella gods daily. Ame
Nothing to dislike. Obviously bigger than normal because of mechanism to open and close!
I really like it, good in the wind, and I love the button you press to open it and was surprised that when you push it again it closes.
It’s a simple brolly to leave in the car. Seems good so far.
The umbrella is quite heavy due to the frames and double canopy but it is very sturdy.
My wife had her previous umbrella blow inside out so required a replacement. This one was cheap but appears well made. So far it has stood up to the winter winds on her walks in wet weather.
When I saw this umbrella on amazon,I just wanted to try the automatic closing mechanism which can be useful in so many situations.
The umbrella looks good. It was so easy to dry due to its higher quality coating material.Only downside I could find is the size, this is too small for me which is a hugh bummer.
Overall, considering the price, this is an OK purchase.
I bought this item back in July 2018 and lost it last month.
Hands down this was best travel umbrella I had so there was no other option when getting a new one.
Let’s go through the basics:
It is a good size, with a slightly wider canopy than similar umbrella styles so it’s better for taller larger people with that extra bit of coverage.
The wind flap is well done and not once has this umbrella turned inside out when I’ve used it. Also, it feels safer that it won’t fly out your hands or pull you down the street in stronger winds.
The handle’s auto open and auto close button has worked every time and I use this more feature than expected. It’s not just a posh gimmick. If you are carrying another item (and don’t have another hand free in heavy rain), being able to press the button to quickly collapse in the middle of downpour when arriving inside somewhere (eg a tube station entrance) is actually a very useful feature.
It has never torn or sustained any damage in 4 years’ normal use and the sheath cover is a good fit (not stupidly tight to get on like some others).
There is nothing comparable for the price. If you are the kind of person who spends 5-10 on replacement umbrellas every year or so due to them breaking or getting damaged then this is a much better purchase in the long run and easily worth the money.
I have had this for 3 years, and it is a great little sturdy umbrella. Well worth the cost.
I liked the way you can open and close the umbrella. It seemed strong and well made.
I have been using this for last 4-5 months and it hasn’t broken yet. It’s sturdy, however I couldn’t use it during storm Ciara and Dennis. I guess none of the portable umbrellas could stand those storms. Overall, sturdy and strong brolly. Thanks, looking to buy another one for my Mrs. in burgundy, when it will be available.
I use it all the time but although reliable most of the time, it does upturn on extremely windy days in North Of England. It’s not v compact but I did not buy it for its size. Will buy it agai
I purchased the umbrella after reading reviews, and needed something compact to put in my backpack and rucksack. This umbrella ticked all the boxes, the colour is different than traditional black. I’ve tested it in the rain the auto mechanism is quite strong and if looked after should last ages, the vents are useful in strong winds and haven’t come across any issues so far. For a cheap automatic umbrella it’s worth every penny, and won’t break the bank.
Good value for money, press the up button it opens up ready for use and press the down button and it folds down but you have to wrap the umbrella ready for its pouch and that part is a bit fiddly, I would suggest the makers to make a larger pouch that ties up.
This is a very good, sturdy umbrella. Be aware of two things, though – it’s rather heavy, and the spring in it is quite strong, closing it fully requires both hands
very happy that my order came quickly with the uk weather. getting fed up of buying store umberellas that blow inside out. havent used this product yet but it looks sturdy and is easy to use. with the wind flaps and the pole that isnt rigid at the top i am confident it will stand up to what our crazy weather with throw at it.
Looks and feels sturdy in terms of quality. It does what it says on the tin. Only thing I would change from this umbrella is the design of the button, it’s cosmetic changes.
When I first opened this umbrella as soon as I picked it up from the locker and went outside, a gust of wind blew it inside out and broke it lol. I was soon sent a replacement though and it seems to be fairing better but I do avoid opening it when it’s very windy. It’s easy to open and close. However, because the handle is so small I have on occasion accidentally pressed the button and closed it while walking in the rain.
Bought as a gift. Only issues she’s had is retracting it as you need to press the button then push in from the top. She thought that would be automatic too, I believe. Hey, can’t please everyone 🙂 . Seems strong and durable. Lasted longer than any other she’s had. Perhaps a little on the heavy side but then, presumably, it would be as capable.
You can buy any number of cheap travel umbrellas and they’re all going to be pretty much of a muchness. Many of them will just be rebranded versions of the same thing. This seems to keep the rain off, it hasn’t broken in the couple of times I’ve used it, but ultimately I’m probably only going to use it a handful of times a year so who knows how long it will truly last if used. As with many umbrellas this is basically a foot long, which is a bit long for one of my smaller work bags but fine for keeping in the car for emergencies.
A truely Windpoof Umbrella, it’s holding up well so far even in strong winds! The umbrella was used during the last few storms we had in the UK when I was caught out without a waterproof jacket. It has kept dry, like a umbrella should and it’s held up against the strong winds, the air vents do work and I think that’s what prevented the umbrella from turning inside out!
The button operation works really well as it allows you to open the umbrella whilst your other hand is full and I have found it very useful.
It’s better than expected, I thought it was just a basic umbrella but was pleasantly surprised to find that a press of a button put the umbrella up and down. It’s pretty good, but it does wobble a bit.
Seems high quality and quite lightweight too.
Nice function that you can automatically get the umbrella all the way up, and partially down with the touch of one button.
Only downside is the cover sleeve stitching is coming apart.
Great umbrella for the price. I cant really see what else you would need from a small umbrella. It packs up small the button allows for automatic opening and closing. Closing folds the top part of the umbrella but you still have to push it down to shorten the pole if you are wanting to pack it away. Its plain black (a small amazon label on the velcro fastening) and fits in the side pocket of my laptop bag for when i need i t going to work. really glad i bought it as i can’t see what more expensive umbrellas could proved that this one doesn’t. The build quality seems really good unlike some other ones in this price bracket that i have had previously. The wind vent seems to work well and doesn’t let water drip through as i was worried about in the wind. I doubt it would work in really strong winds but its been great fro me so far.
Tested in super windy weather, works great! Little bit heavy; ok for a backpack but probably a bit much for a handbag. Might be a good thing though as it hasnt broken yet.
Really solid and luxurious build quality. Feels great in the hand, the handle is brilliant.
This was bought for my son, but we judged it to be too heavy to carry in his school bag every day, so ended up putting this in the car door instead. We then bought a lighter version from ikea for 4, however that one doesnt feel great to carry and will not last as long in strong winds.
After considering a range of umbrellas on Amazon, and following a great review on ‘Wirecutter’ i decided i would give this one a go. Our great British weather of late has given me the chance to try out it’s strength and durability and i have to say i have not been disappointed. It has not blown inside out and has powerful automatic opening at the touch of a button. Am hoping this will see me through the rest of our winter without the need to flatten my hair with a hood. Truly excellent – well done Amazon basics !!
Really happy, sturdy and used it in windy conditions without it blowing inside out as desired! Also the automatic opening feature is handy and collapses the canopy on a second press which is great if your carrying something in the other hand.
Only downside is once you collapse it you have to push the handle back up to reset the opening mechanism which is a bit resistant like and exercise stretcher! and you can’t re-open it manually, it won’t stay open so needs a full reset to open again. Having said that it’s quite satisfying to open by pressing the button Very show off!
9.5/10
Needed an umbrella after losing my old one and have to say this is great, especially for the price. The auto open and close is good. Only thing that is a little difficult is retracting the umbrella back towards the handle. Tried it in windy conditions and it didn’t flip.
I only have two complaints about this umbrella – (1) the Velcro on the strap that holds it closed when not in use has lost its adhesiveness; and (2) the cover is really tight and takes some effort to remove. Otherwise, this is without a doubt the best umbrella I’ve ever owned. It’s only been blown inside-out once and, thanks to the high-tech wind vents, has returned to its original perfect form (no broken spokes or snapped threads that normally afflict brollies once they’ve been through a bit of wind). I was concerned about the size and weight as I normally buy the smallest, lightest umbrella I can find to guarantee it fits into all my handbags but this one is so good it’s worth having to carry it on those rare occasions when it won’t fit in my bag. I’ve had it a year now and love it to bits – although I’m slightly peeved to see it’s now four quid cheaper than when I bought it!
Received it yesterday, has not been tested in windy stormy weather or rain yet but as I inspected the make is very sturdy made & it’s light weight wise I have paid a lot more in the past for a lot less quality!
The size is compact enough for average hand bag
The handle is made of soft touchable material, but it ‘might’ get a little slippery in heavy rain/high wind, time would tell:)
All in all money well spent. I recommend it.
This umbrella is really strong and holds well against blustery winds and heavy rain and is still going. It’s small enough to fit into my handbag. It’s one of the few umbrellas that I have found that worked well against strong winds. Good price for what it does. A bit different from my umbrellas when you close it. You press the button it opens, you press the button it closes and then you push it down. It lasts. Purchased a couple more indoors but not had to use them yet.
