Great projector, ticks all the boxes for me, would recommend
Easy set-up. excellent picture quaity with lights on and off. Sound is excellent even when in a village hall setting which this was used for. Perfect.
Absolutely love this projector, great picture quality, loads of features, great speakers, perfect for our home movie nights.
Loved this product and have bought the bracket to screw to ceiling. It’s easy to switch for outdoor use. Easy to set up and use. Can’t play sky go through the operating system but a 10m hdmi lead fixed that! If you want to watch in higher lighting conditions go for more lumins or a quality screen.
I wanted to add my review here aimed at people that are less tech savvy and just want plain speaking. This is based on my 6 weeks of ownership and daily use for movie and series watching. In summary, I think the picture and sound quality (and volume) are excellent. I haven’t had any technical issues in those 6 weeks – it just worked. The only slightly odd thing is that it randomly re-focuses every so often, but it only takes a few seconds. Obviously, as for all projectors, it works best in the dark, but is perfectly OK with the lights on – the dark scenes are less OK. Any proper sunlight entering the room kills the picture. The inbuilt Android TV app is perfectly good, but we (esp. the kids) preferred to use the Fire Stick that we plugged into the back. The USB port does have enough power to power a Fire Stick, even though when I first installed it, it came up with an ‘insufficient power’ message. The built in sound system is great, and the volume goes a bit higher than you would want, although I’m not a sound connoisseur. It projected a 3.5 metre corner to corner picture in my room, on a white painted wall, and was positioned about 4 metres back from the left edge of the image. I used manual keystone correction to correct the shape, and used a tape measure to check that it was square – this is in the settings menu and is easy once you work it out. I hope this helps some people to make a decision – we all love it and have no regrets !
I was amazed by the brightness and picture quality. Sound is excellent too.
I could watch the movies with lights on. Day time brightness is also not bad with blinds closed.
100% recommended.
I got this for 500 in the Black Friday sale and it seems like a bargain. I also bought a high quality screen to go with it which does help (I tried it on a wall and it was good, but notably better on a proper screen).
The image is Full HD and is very good to my eyes. My screen is 106inch and it looks great, very clear and minimal lag or blurring. I have the projector mounted on an old tripod and it does take a little fiddling to get it exactly level and fitted to the screen etc but nothing too excessive. I haven’t explored all the settings yet but it is already v good and we have really enjoyed watching some films and shows on it and the kids love playing their Nintendo Switch on it too.
Brightness is good, it is bright enough for a reasonable experience in a room in daylight with curtains/blinds closed but the darker you can make the room the better. In full daylight you can see the image but it is washed out and far from ideal, it is watchable though and I may well give it a go in summer to watch sport outdoors (I’ll try and remember to report back how this goes).
The sound from the onboard speakers is surprisingly good considering the price point. It is plenty loud enough for a good sized room but lacks bass and quality compared to a good quality speaker set up. I haven’t yet felt the need to connect to a separate speaker, but probably would if seeking a really cinema like experience.
Overall this is a really impressive bit of kit, especially at the discounted price point. I considered many other options but anything notably better (4k and/or lots more lumens) was often three times (or more) the (discounted) price and others in the Anker range seemed inferior (Mars II etc). If portability is important for you then the version with the battery will be highly portable as it is fairly small and light and would easily fit into a rucksack or even a supermarket carrier bag. As an entry into projectors for home cinema and sport watching only someone with unrealistic expectations (at this price point) could be disappointed.
This is a good home projector. It’s also relatively portable so it could be taken to a presentation. The speaker is loud and the Bluetooth speaker mode works well, as does radio streaming.
It really could do work being a bit brighter though. It’s fairly difficult to see during the day.
I also wish the auto-focus wouldn’t jump in while I’m watching something, especially when there is nothing wrong with the focus at that point.
I purchased a projector before sent back immediately. This one is a keeper. Setting up was great, I am a non techy person, once I calmed down and connected to my Google account & downloaded Nebula Manager App, my evening has been bliss.
Design of projector

Likes:
Easy to set up
Easy to figure out how to use (I am a man so instruction manuals are optional 🙂 )
Good sound system
Dislikes:
Wish Sky Go and Netflix could be loaded – but can easily be used from Tablet (Netfix) or Laptop (both)
I spent some time assessing what projector to get and looked at different makes, models, reviews, brightness etc – as a complete amateur!
I settled on this as someone I knew had an Anker Nebula and I was impressed by it. I am happy I made the right decision, I feel it is a great product for the price. Film viewing is important to me and this is a great product. I will use it in the garden in an evening/night and the sound is good enough to annoy neighbours!
This review is by a real customer and not paid for in any way.
I had previously bought a Yaufey LED projector for a small bedroom home cinema set up but after a few months of use it was watchable but struggled with dark scenes particularly.
Step up the Anker NEBULA Cosmos Full HD 1080p bought on a black Friday deal a few weeks back. Its an altogether better bit of kit, brightness is on another level and the detail on the screen is superb. Set up was straight forward so far I cannot fault it. i use it mainly fed via HDMI from my amazon so cant comment on its inbuilt apps.
What i can say is on the occasions that I’ve used its inbuilt speakers its sounded far batter than expected, i use it in conjunction with a 5.1 amp and speakers but for occasional use the speakers are very good.
All in all very pleased with this projector.
This is definitely one of the best projectors I’ve owned. I was apprehensive about getting the 1080p cosmos, but simply couldn’t afford the Max version. As you can see from the pictures, this works quite well in daytime (The picture is 60 inch by the way). Obviously the further back and larger the screen you have, The brightness will fade but, I have the brightness set up 40% in the pictures.
Also, I have to say that the speakers seem to sound very good as well. It gives about the same depth and base you would expect from a high-end TV.
All in all, I’m very impressed.
As this isn’t the brightest projector it can only really be used in the dark. This was expected after reading other reviews. Picture is really clear and we have used in our garden for an outdoor cinema and works perfectly.
The keystone correction works really well and allows for manual adjustment.
My only issue with this is the android tv software. This has Amazon Prime available but Netflix and Disney are not available in the app store which is frustrating. Plugged my fire stick in the HDMI port and use that now instead which works perfectly. Android TV looks and feels so great but shame it doesn’t have support for these apps. I believe they can be side-loaded but not worth the hassle. Plex app version is also out of date compare with fire stick version and can’t seem to be upgraded.
Overall very happy but disappointing about android tv.
This is my 2nd nebula projector. I still have the original capsule which i use when i travel abroad due to it’s amazing portability. I decided to try the Nebula Cosmos and i have to say i love it. The projector is compact(ish) and smart looking with it’s unique oval design. The image is okay, not the best i have seen but good enough for a top end budget projector. I purchased this due to being a fan of nebula’s products, and whilst i am not overwhelmed i am equally not disappointed. This projector is great for night time viewing with minimal ambient lighting. It can be used during the day but the image, whilst still perfectly watchable is very washed out. However to achieve daytime viewing your really need a 2500/3000 ANSI lumens projector. The Cosmos produces a great size image from only a few feet away. The image is clear and sharp and colours punchy at night. Autofocus is great, keystone could be better, but you can make minor manual adjustments both horizontally and vertically in the projector settings. The Android TV operating system is great, full google app store and the right versions of apps such as Netflix and Plex, i am so pleased that nebula have decided to upgrade their OS to include Android TV on their projectors rather than aptoide. I just wish they would release a software/firmware update for the original capsule to include Android TV, but i doubt that will happen with an EoL product. But if you are reading this Nebula.. please please upgrade your other devices to incorporate Android TV!! The Cosmos comes with a decent remote control which has speech recognition via google built in. The remote looks very stylish, i would have been much more premium though if the finish was metal rather than plastic. Overall i am happy with this new line of projector, yes i agree that you can get much more ANSI powerful projectors for less money (such as Epsom) however nebula do make nice looking devices! Is it portable, well yes and no… you could easily pack it up and take it somewhere with you, but would you want too? I wouldn’t its too big for normal portability i would say. The projector is also mains powered only, so that limits your usage somewhat. If you want total portability then go for the capsule, if you want more punch/feature and brightness with a bit of portability within your own home then you can not go wrong with the stylish cosmos. It will fit in nicely to anyone’s lounge!! I just wish i could have afforded to try out the 4k version of this device!!
Overall all is a good product. Portable from room to room. Easy setup and very intuitive. Android TV looks great. Netflix is a bit tricky to use and not best quality.
Starts fast. Quite low noi. Good audio. Personally I connected a Bose speaker . Very good autofocus but sometimes annoying as too often. Imagine clarity very good in perfect darkness but brightness not best in other conditions. Best experience night time/late evening.
keystone works well and makes life very easy regarding projector position in the room.
Had a few problems when there was no sound and image was fast but when checking for updates there was something pending so problem sorted.
Very good and helpful customer service if needed. Not used for this product but past experience with Anker was very good.
Overall it is a good device. At full price is bit pricey. Am I happy with the product? Would I buy it again? Yes and yes.
Nice and bright can be used easily in daylight, as long as not direct bright sunshine, good image quality, have used with my Nintendo switch, very good picture. The sound is very impressive from its own built in speakers, nice and loud, filling a good sized lounge.
Very smart and compatible with all types of inputs. Excellent HD picture quality and as quiet as a purring kitten. Only thing I can fault it for was the lack of apps, specifically Netflix. However I’m using Roku via HDMI and happy with that.
I wasn’t one of the crowdfunding investors, but couldn’t afford the full price so waited to buy during Black Friday discounts. I read the previous reviews about issues (won’t repeat here) that have been fixed – read those reviews and note how quickly after release they updated firmware. Initial connection to my WiFi was troublesome which meant that I couldn’t get the latest updates, but succeeded after some hints and tips from a VERY responsive Anker Cosmos help desk , even though the problems were with my router and not the projector.
I’m not a home Cinema enthusiast, but the picture from this projector blew me away – able to see and use in a daylit/overcast day at just over 100″ picture size, but of course the picture really ‘pops’ if you draw the curtains/use after dusk, at sizes above 100″. All this on a suitable wall, not a proper screen. The sound is very good and can fill a room without distortion.
The online manual doesn’t have the latest functions listed, so if you don’t see functions that you’d expect then ask the Anker help desk. I think they’ve added the ‘use as a Bluetooth speaker’ mode and individual adjustment of saturation/contrast/sharpness/brightness individually (these become available AFTER you start playing a video/HDMI connects).
Fan noise is very low (after the projector adjusts the speed after initial switch on) not absent, but I didn’t find it at all distracting. I think the update may have tweaked the fan speed down a little but can’t be absolutely sure; the projector does a good job of modulating the fan speed.
The help desk were very responsive – even chasing me for an update after a weekend of tinkering and experimenting! It’s this that gives me the confidence that they listen to their customers and will continue to tweak/improve based on feed back.
All in all I love the picture (native 1080P) and the sound. Personally I prefer to place it in the front and centre to maximise that gorgeous picture and minimise use of the digital H&V keystone (there is a greyscale halo which becomes more obvious as you increase keystoning). I have successfully used it off an old tripod, but now I just have to work out where to permanently install it!
Updated Review,
The cosmos did have have launch issues , but like any great company does it listens to the feedback and fixes them the next update is due around the start of November. I am please to report that the projector is now working great and is useable in daytime and is excellent at night. What makes this projector so good is the on aboard android so no need for firesticks etc . The projector itself is stunning and the build materials are excellent. Another plus is the on board speakers which means you dont really need a sound bar as rhey are loud as well as this the Nebula team released a patch so the projector can also act as a bluetooth speaker .
Where i really want to give people confidence when buying this projector is the excellent customer service i have received by Nebula they will go out of there way to make sure you get the experience and will work with you should trouble arise giving you taylored options.
For me this is my new favourate tech.
Great job team Nebula
I was a kickstarter backer and having had this machine a few weeks now I can warn anyone thinking of buying it about its flaws.
Firstly the viewing of dark movie scenes is impossible, this machine came with so many claims and boasts but all are lies.
The machine has only one picture setting and its brightness, at 100% you still can’t see any detail in dark movie scenes, it’s adequate in bright scenes but in no way does this display in HDR 10.
Colours are washed out and with no switch to turn HDR on or off so you have no way to see if its actually on or not, another lie from nebula as they claim you can do this.
Also they claim a dynamic smoothing switch which also is not present.
It’s does not Netflix and its unavailable from Google market as they do not have the support, they have you sideload it from nebula manager and its an outdated version of the app so is in 480p quality, pathetic for a machine claiming to be full HD this machine is not native Full HD and is not remotely close to it despite more lies in the description.
Bluetooth is an issue also when using audio devices and on top of this, the HDMI sockets are very hit and miss, sometimes giving audio errors or just not playing images or sound respectively.
Previous nebula units output a far superior image and in truth the cosmos is really a money grabber for those unable to afford the Max version which is the real machine nebula talk about when promoting the cosmos.
It comes with an awful version of Android TV, it was meant to be android 9 but some clueless, developer on the team decided to dump that for android TV, apps do not run once installed and many are missing due to it jot being full android.
You can pick up older projector machines that will perform on par or better than the cosmos.
It’s a poorly developed machine with no thought put into the most important issue, being able to watch movies and recreate the cinema feeling.
I’m utterly shocked this was even released, it’s as if they never even had any tests done or tried addressing dark issues.
Don’t waste your money, I payed just under 400 as a backer and feel I payed 300 to much its that bad.
I am now going to add an edit.
Now that I have helped fix the darkness issue and other issues along with the nebula development team through my troubleshooting and vigorous testing this machine now performs as it should.
The fixed the HDR conflicts and gave it a switch to turn on/off and also added picture settings that were much needed.
There is still issues regarding 3d displaying at full zoom and crooked and not having the ability to keystone correct during 3d needs to be rectified in a further update.
They are testing testing this for me after my informing them.
Android TV is still nowhere near the quality of nvidia shields.
I would recommend this machine as nothing comes close for quality and images bit I still feel its overpriced at just under 800.
Ignore all my first reviews that I left as now they have given much attention to software updates due to community feedback.
