Three games in one and it’s Star Wars! My family (kids 8 and 10) had a lot of fun with the easiest one. We could work as a team and spend some as a family. The other two we played with some friends and it was more of a challenge. I would highly suggest this purchase!
I’ve bought this as a requested Christmas gift for my son-in-law so I can’t give a detailed review of it. What I can say is that he knows his stuff about this kind of game so it will be good!
There is no way a ten year could do this game. However, they can participate. The beginner level IMO is not beginner. You definitely have to be an observant, pay attention to detail, kind of person. I play the role of organizer because that’s about all I can do, but it’s entertaining to be apart of the process of solving the puzzles. I will be purchasing the other games. Once the game is through, you won’t be able to play again. So gift it to some one
By the way, you get 3 games in one. I was a bit confused on that so, the game consists of 3-1 hour games. For a price tag of $25, that’s not bad for 3 hours of fun. BTW, I love the background music. It creates the atmosphere of the game.
This was our first time doing an Unlock game. We had done Exit games in the past. This one requires an app for use. The rules were explained adequately and there is a mini orientation mission at the beginning. The app is easy to use and it provides background music that isn’t annoying or stressful.
There was one issue: the rules have specific definitions regarding the colors and what type of cards they were. The rule was not actually followed in one puzzle so we got stuck in one of the puzzles but figured it out eventually with a cost to the score. Maybe if we did not actually adhere so much to how things are defined in the rulebook it would have been better. I don’t think that’s a good thing and hopefully the publisher can improve on it.
What we like is that the game is reusable so I passed it on to a friend. This is more environmentally friendly than a one-time-use game like the Exit games.
I would recommend this game especially if you like escape room-type games and Star Wars. If you don’t like Star Wars there are other themed Unlock games to try out!
We have tried quite a few escape room games over the last few years. This was the first with this brand. We (2x teens, 2 parents) found it quite quick and was attention grabbing. Sometimes a bit obvious but we loved the interactive App and working with this new tech within a game was good. The actual storyline was lost a little as we raced to the challenge but a great hour spent on each game with lots of laughing and eye rolling in equal measure. I would recommend.
My husband isn’t a big “boardgames” person, and since the pandemic prohibits gatherings, real-life escape rooms are out. He IS a huge Star Wars fan, so this was the perfect introduction to card game escape rooms. I absolutely love all of these! And now he does too!
The only negative to this set would be the included map for part 3. Not sure if anyone else got frustrated with this and ended up doing a trial and error and finally a solution for one particular part …. can’t say much else without giving it away.
All in all an extremely fun game. The sad thing about these though is that you can really only play them once. We escaped 2/3 and have sent it off for our other friends to play and pass on. Highly recommend this game and all the rest!
We like star wars and escape rooms, this is both and well done at that. It’s not very challenging which is fine if you need very difficult then this isn’t for you.
my family enjoyed these a lot. one scenario is definitely much harder than the other two (honestly, I’m still not sure how to solve it.) but the first two we played were tons of fun. love the interactive app, which played some very cool parts during the game. as board game escape rooms go, this was worth the price for us.
The cards are beautiful – the story is great – the puzzles are straight forward! I love Unlock, and for the most part, their entire series is excellent (with a few, “that is the solution??!?”, moments). I’ve played the first two from this pack and I’m very impressed. The only problem I have is it requires a separate install from the Android market (it doesn’t use the same Unlock mobile app), but that is a pretty minor issue.
We hadn’t done an escape game before and we were rubbish on the first one but by the third we beat the clock and got 5 stars! Great fun and each game is very different. Best of all, you don’t damage the game by playing it so that you can resell it for almost full price on Ebay!
I’m not a big Star Wars fan, but my friend is. He’s not a big game person, but I am. This was a great meet in the middle! He enjoyed all the SW aspects (as he knew what the places and things all were and I did not) of the game.
It was challenging, fun and was a great way to hang out.
The cards are high quality with great illustrations. The pacing and problem solving was great fun!
So if you like Star Wars and escape type games, this is great!
A tad pricey, but worth the moments and fun it delivered.
Bought these for my boyfriends birthday. We did them the two of us, no kids, but I think older kids / young teens would enjoy these too. They weren’t super hard but hard enough to be challenging. The art work is lovely and the app works well. Sad to have done them all now as they aren’t replayable.
