I have wavy hair. I’ve been wearing it more curly recently and wanted one tool that would give me options. I’m also not great with a hairdryer. This dries my hair in about 75% of the time needed by my hairdryer. Using the hairdryer part first then switching to the drying brush and then finishing for some volume with the round drying brush. Haven’t mastered the curling tool yet but use my straighteners for that anyways. All in all great product. Makes styling my hair less of a chore.
I can’t say enough good stuff about this styler! I’ve always straightened my hair and it just hasn’t really done the job for my postpartum hair growth and loss. I got this styler to help reduce hair loss and improve the condition of it and I’m sure it’s helped every aspect of my hair from frizz, baby hairs, smoothness and appearance. It’s super easy to use, it takes me about ten to 15 mins max to style it properly. What’s even better is that it stays the way it has been styled for a few days after too! Would highly recommend!
Was intrigued by the buzz around a hot brush and saw this one described as a dupe for the Dyson Airwrap (and a fraction of the price). Bought on offer – definitely wouldn’t pay full price for it, btw. Seems to be more powerful than other similar products and did think it dried my hair reasonably quickly, and my hair felt soft afterwards.
Watched a couple of tutorials online, definitely don’t use it to its full potential but use it with the paddle brush type attachment to dry my hair – have tried to style as I dry but with mixed results and not fussed to persevere, so maybe with practice you can get better results. I tended to dry it enough to either further style with other tools or to tie it up.
It does get very hot – be warned – and can get uncomfortable using it given how powerful it is (the hand not holding it, that I was using to try and style as I dried, got blasted with such heat I would have to pause and change position!) I used it to dry my children’s hair – worked like a charm on my long-haired 6yo but was too much for my short haired 3yo.
My Dyson hairdryer is slowly giving up the ghost after about 6 years – I don’t think this will replace it but it is a useful backup for the times the Dyson cuts out mid-blowdry will be replacing it with another dryer when the time comes for it to pack up altogether, this doesn’t come close.
My hair is shorter and I find the round brush too large – much more suitable for long hai
My hair is so smooth and friz free when I use this dryer. Don’t even need to use straighteners. I absolutely love it!
The product works quite well! Although it takes a long time to dry my thick hair. I like how it helps to shape and create volume! Absolutely love it especially for how much I paid for it!
Firstly I bought this one prime day so a good deal to be had, First impression it is light to hold which is a bonus and would suit as a travel product.
1st the hair dryer function is good and relatively quite so dried excess hair off so far so good now the down side is that the changeable head is very hot with removing to put the other attachments on.
2nd the brush function is good it made my hair very straight as good as straightners, not much frizz or fly away hair.
3rd now this is where my issue is again changing between heads they are hot, but the curling wand didn’t do anything for me I tried several times to do it and was not impressed. The main reason for buying this as it had all the attachments that I thought I would need, also its lightweight enough for travel which is a good bonus, but after trying several curling items that were not suitable for arthritic hands this was much more a friendly item.
Overall it is a good item but not for me as I could not curl hair now maybe that’s my hair or that im a novice in curling but my big issue is the heads being too hot to interchange quickly, so I am returning it but again it is a good hair dryer for travelling.
Very easy to use and it works perfectly with my hai
I bought this for my wife and she thinks it’s very good
Works really well on my fine hair that goes frizzy when drying. Hair is smooth and shines. Don’t hardly use my hair straightener anymore!
Definitely fast hair dryer, the straightener attachment would not say does a good job for me but i have thin, soft hair.
Overall great product, has replaced my dryer and my curle
Only experiential difference between the Dyson airwrap and this is that this one doesn’t auto-rotate, but it’s so easy to use. BIG benefit was that the device stopped working after 2 months, and Amazon/the Seller eagerly sent me a new one to replace it. I am very happy with not just the product, but the honoring of the warranty. New one is blissfully working without issue.
ot the best on the market, but definitely the best value for money in my experience
Easy to use, good drying power and does not frizz my hair.
For the price nothing not to like. It might not be powerful enough for some people depending on the length and thickness of hair. It’s really easy to hold and overall a great styler. My hair is mid length and I have only used the round brush tool which gives my hair lots of volume. No need to use my straighteners now.
I really like the fact tgat when drying your hair you don’t have to use a separate brush. The normal brush is good for creating a silky smooth look, the round brush is great for curling under or out at ends and for flicks. The curling wand tends to blow your hair off the wand and you have to hold fir some time to curl it. We haven’t used just the dryer nozzle. Overall it is easy to use.
Takes some practice using the different attachments but I old hairdryer gave me a big frizzy bomb that would have to straighten everytime. This gives a nice smooth finish, once I got the hang of it.
I really wanted a Dyson air wrap for the longest time, but like the person who is reading this there was absolutely no way I was paying 400 for it. I saw this advertised as a dupe and it’s not. What it is however is a semi-good hairdryer with an air styling addition to it. I would recommend allowing your hair to towel/air dry to about 60-80%, or 20-40% and use the cold function to dry it with the regular attachment. Then go in on the cold or lowest heat setting and use the brush or round brush attachment. Absolutely do not use the round brush or curling wand when your hair is wet because you will fry it over time and end up with tons of split ends and fly aways. It’s also good as a second day refresh to give your hair a bit of bounce and volume. The curling attachment 50/50. I would still highly recommend for the price.
I love the variety of tools I can choose from but I was slightly disappointed with the power of it but I suppose I have very thick long hair so it takes a while anyways, there also isn’t a huge amount of choice when it comes to the settings of it but I think my standards are quite high .
As I say, I really am not a styling expert and I very rarely leave a review but I thought this might help the doubters.
Now, I have bought and returned/discarded many a hair gadget in my 40 odd years and I wasn’t quite sure if I could make this one work for me.
I have just used this on my shoulder length bob style hair (it’s quite thick, unruly and very frizzy if left to it’s own devices). At first I used the normal drying attachment, granted it’s not as powerful as my regular hairdryer but it was doing the job. I then changed to the large round brush (I don’t know the official name for it!) and I was blown away with how good it was. No need for hair straightener and hair is not frizzy at all! This will no doubt change the way I style my hair from now on. It’s so easy and effective. I have yet to try out the other attachments but I’m not feeling the need for returns label!
I will say I only paid 28 for it so I am a very happy with my purchase.
I bought it tempted by Black Friday sales – don’t we all love them – hoping to combine the benefits of few attachments in one appliance. The hairdryer has 1000W power, but it was sufficient to half-dry and then style my hair. If like myself you start to look after your hair using shampoos and tonics for ‘women over…’ (you get it ladies), you don’t want to blast it with super hot air. So, if you have more delicate hair (not Afro), this is for you.
It is really easy to change attachments and once connected its surprisingly light, in spite of visual dimensions. I’ve test run all of the attachments, all great, my favourite are the round brush + curling wand. Pleasantly surprised with it and I would definitely recommend it.
On overall, well done BaByliss.
To answer my own question I’d have to say I haven’t a clue, who in their right mind pays 400 for a hairdryer? I bought this for my wife for under 40 on Amazon after reading some wild claims that it does indeed batter the 400 machine. I can’t testify to that but I can say my wife loves it. Even I had to comment on the styling of her hair after she’d first used it. It does seem pretty fantastic. I didn’t opt for the additional hair irons because she has a set of god’s I got her several years back. It comes with some blowy things for styling. Also it’s a really nice box it all comes in so it makes a great inexpensive present. If your wife needs a new hairdryer type thingy you could do a lot worse than this.
I absolutely love this and wish I had found it sooner. It’s a game changer for me. I have quite thick shoulder length hair and have been struggling with styling as until recently I had had very short hair for years. I found juggling a hairdryer and a brush difficult, heavy and awkward. With this you have one hand free to help manoeuvre your hair onto the styling tool. It is so easy to use. I haven’t used the curling attachment yet but the thick round brush and the flat brush work brilliantly. I can get a finish which I think is as good as the hairdresser – full, smooth, flicky or straight depending on how you do it. It’s also great for fluffing up and restyling between washes. I absolutely love it and my old hairdryer is now redundant.
This is great for drying it’s very quick. I have very thick hair and it’s halved the dry time from my other hairdryer .
The straighter though isn’t great . It definitely does not replace a hair straighter like I was hoping after reading reviews . So if you don’t need a new hair dryer and want this for straighter then it’s not worth i
I have a frizzy hair and have been finding solution to control my hair without rebond or too much chemicals in my hair. I used to have another hair styler before but it kinda fries my hair because it’s too hot and the heat controller does not actually work.
But with this babyliss hair styler, I could style my hair without worrying too much about the heat. I could actually straighten my hair in five minutes. The bristles in the styler are also gentle to the scalp and they are made of a pretty sturdy material so I guess it will take time for them to break unlike with other products. Haven’t really explored using the curler since I find it kind of difficult, maybe it’s better to use the curling iron for curling. But might work for some with a little practice. Anyway, I find it very useful I actually use it everyday, keeps my hair tamed. Although my hairstyler found my hair a little bit dry because I use this everyday, so if you’re gonna use this everyday, I suggest you also do some hair treatments regularly. Overall, 5/5.
UPDATE: After 15 month, it needs replacing. For the last few months, it’s been getting very hot, so much so that it’s too hot for my daughter. If you switch it off, there’s a click and it won’t switch on until you hear another click (because it’s getting far too hot). It has a bald patch where the bristles have fallen out (probably due to it getting too hot). It has been used pretty much every day for those 15 months but in 16 years, I’m only onto my 3rd hairdryer (which also got use every day).
My daughter is at an age where she will be taking more notice of her appearance soon and will want more independence with showering, drying hair etc. So I bought this for her birthday but was a little worried about the larger brush after reading some of the reviews.
We both have short bobbed hair and I’m even using this on my hair now (with her blessing), as it does a great job and is much more convenient (and lighter) than the hair dryer. The larger brush is actually perfect for both of us.
Downsides: it gets very hot and I have to be careful around her ears so I don’t catch them, because understandably it burns. I have to turn it in my hands as I work through the hair and keep catching the control switch and switching it down low of even off, which is not the end of the world but is annoying/frustrating!
I do wish there were two gloves as I do have to keep swapping it over to the other hand as I move around my hair. It gets too hot to use it without the glove.
Despite the downsides, I would happily recommend this product.
I have had a babyliss big hair for a very long time i think i have only replaced it once over the past 8 years. The big hair worked fab for me except that the cool shot began to blow hot air instead which couldn’t be good for my hair. It also takes me a while to dry my hair as i need to use a hairdryer then use the big hair to style as i am hopeless with those big round brushes.
So i went for this option as it’s of similiar price 35.99 currently on offer, and apparently does the drying and the styling.
Now i have mixed feelings about this hair dryer – i want to be in love with it but I’m not.
Round brush head – 3/5
Doesn’t rotate by itself and as i said i am no good at styling. I find that if i roll the brush up manually then unwind again it leaves my hair frizzy -and if i pull the brush down doesn’t quite give me the same bounce as the big hair did. (I added a picture to show you what I mean) I do however prefer the bristle on this as it will catch and pull lesser hair.
Perhaps I need some more practicing with -although I’m not entirely convinced on it
The flat brush head – 5/5
This one took me by surprise. Infact it actually beats the round brush head as it dryed my hair beautifully at the roots. I have coloured hair growing out so my roots tend to stay wet for longer and so this brush worked perfect. I didn’t get a bouncy blow dry effect but it dryed my hair gently without need of a seperate brush.
Dryer tip 5/5 –
This is also good. Similiar to the flat brush it does wonders for drying. It is also much lighter than you average hair dryer – and the air flow is better if you want to dry your roots first – or roots only and head out.
Curling tong 2/5 –
Takes alot of time. Didn’t work for me or rather I don’t have that sort of patience. Perhaps it’s because of my hair but honestly if you are looking for air styles-do you really want hot copper on your hair? Or maybe you do.. it’s ok But in my opinion this isnt efficient.
Heatproof gloves 5/5 –
A very pleasant addition. Perfwct size and not too thick so you can still run fingers down hair without making it greasy and hold tip of heads.
So all in all – if this lightweight styler had the ability to rotate like big hair then i would be jumping up and down with joy and raving about this as it would be the only thing I use. My sole purpose was to make space in my drawer but now i have an extra thing to make space for.. haha.
I am giving it a four star because it is hard to find a styler with 1000watts as they usually are 700-800watts. The extra power on this is what Makes it possible for your to dry your hair. I think if you are comfortable styling with a round brush then this will not disappoint you. The cord is the same length as the big hair – the switch button is easier to use in this than big hair as it doesn’t get stuck.
Also I trust babyliss over the very cheap china alternatives thats found here.
Sorry about the long review but hopefully you’ll know what to expect now and hope it helps you make a decision.
Happy hair!!!
I think this product is a great idea, and so close to being perfect.
Pros:
– The fact that it’s lightweight and straight – not angled like a traditional hairdryer – means it’s incredibly easy to use
– Being straight and with easily clipped on/off parts, it’s really easy to pack when travelling
– The smoothing brush left my hair really smooth and “blow dry” sleek; really recommend that one
– Being a brush/dryer combo, it was way easier to use and no wrist cramp compared with holding the brush separately
– The volumising brush did work too, though not one I’d use often as it was a little fiddly for me
Cons
– The curling wand style attachment didn’t work for me at all
– The hairdryer option doesn’t pack enough punch; I have long, thick hair, and it takes c.10 minutes to get it 70% dry enough to use the brush attachments
All in all a good product for the price, but would be worth investing in a more powerful model if one comes out (and don’t bother with this for the curling attachment!)
I have fine naturally wavy hair prone to frizz, kinda like 2b/c curly, stuck between neither curly or straight and about shoulder length. I’ve been following the curly girl method for almost a year but basically I’ve just got fed up with how messy it looks all the time, good hair days don’t happen that often and I seem to spend most of my time waiting for it to dry in a cast so I can scrunch it out and hope for something half decent. Prior to going on the CGM I used to blow dry and flat iron it to straighten and smooth out the frizz. I didn’t want to go back to using a flat iron, as I think that’s the most damaging appliance for your hair. I really wanted the dyson airwrap but with a price tag of 399 for either the volume and shape, or smooth and control versions, I really couldn’t justify it. So I came across this little beauty, which appeared to do the same as the airwrap. An absolute fraction of the price of the dyson airwrap. I found the hair dryer attachment to be too under powered to dry my hair quickly, so I used my trusty parlux hairdryer, (it has various heat settings so not too hot and therefore damaging), to get my hair almost dry, then used the smoothing attachment to straighten and get rid of the frizz, and then the volume attachment to get a bit more root volume. All in all, I was dead impressed with the results. And it only took about 15 minutes to dry and style. I can’t compare the babyliss to the dyson as I don’t have one, but I know that the BaByliss gives me a smooth blow dried finish. Very happy with purchase.
