bought this as my old one was heavey to use this is light and easy to use at my age of 72 any one wanting one i can recomed this isa great buy and black and decker are well know easy to handle and use i bin my old one and happy i bought this one no more aching arms
I looked through so many hedge cutter reviews prior to buying this one.
I was genuinely expecting it to burn out on the motor due to the fact I’ve neglected the mock orange bush / tree! This dealt with it and showed no signs of engine stress. I was able to get through quite thick branches. Including a very thick dry rose. I cut as deep as the blades allow one side of the branch and then repeated the other side and it was as good as a pair of lops. Some branches around 1 inch thick were also cut through with this cutter. Not sure how long it will live doing this. But it will only need to cut wispy off shoots next year. Win wi
This is light and has just easily cut through a massive jungle of honeysuckle with some quite large branches. I bought it as a one job purchase but it still looks brand new after 2 hours of non stop use on tough honeysuckle and it’s ready to use again. I noticed in other reviews that that some thick people have said the guard is pointless, this is wrong as the guard actually slots in and screws and is rock solid., THE GUARD WORKS PERFECTLY. Lightweight and easy to use. Took me just two hours to cut through a huge amount of unruly honeysuckle that had about 15 years of untended growth. I’m impressed and very happy with this cheap but very good quality hedge trimmer. Thank you.
powerful, good reach for my hedges.. let see if they last more that a few times.. but so far so good.. and watch out so that you don not cut the powercord.
Bought this after using husband’s now obsolete really heavy earlier model.
Pros: it’s light, cuts beautifully and with plenty of control
Cons: the cable is a bit short and requires frequent repositioning of extension cable. This is particularly annoying as they’ve changed the attachment method from old version (which had a tiny lead that you could never cut through) joining onto a long cable by a special connector. I was hoping to repurpose this which is why I picked this model
Cables aside, this felt wonderful to use and it’s sparked jealousy in friends who have also struggled with heavier models. I would absolutely recommend
Easy to handle, light, cuts well and quickly. My hedge has some stubborn branches and brambles but the B&D cuts through with ease.
My only disappointment is with the length of the cable. Although an extension is the the obvious remedy, this tool should have another half a metre or so of cable.
Good safety features.
Very happy with this trimmer. Already had one but it was pretty heavy and arms ached before job finished. This one is ideal – light enough but still does job ok. Good vfm
I have two hedges, back and front of the house, both about 5mt long by 3mt tall. They are if beech trees and have brunches also of about an inch thick on the edges and top. This trimmer goes through it quite easily, obviously on the thicker brunches you must let it work at its own pace.
It’s light and easy to use and feels safe too.
I was impressed by it, especially for the price paid.
Recommend it.
Only having a short length of hedge to cut I didn’t want to pay much for a new hedge trimmer so I bought this from the Amazon warehouse – a big chunk off for damaged packaging, a scratch that I can’t find and it’s never been used.
Keeping the cable away from the cutting area is the biggest problem I encountered while using this.
It has a very sharp blade (I hadn’t noticed how blunt my old H/T had become as this cut like a hot knife through butter).
I used it for 1/2 an hour and due to the low vibration and lightness of the machine it didn’t make my arms and back ache unlike petrol and the heavier battery powered trimmers.
In short I’m very pleased with my purchase.
Best hedge trimmer’s I have ever bought very light, you get quite a good cut too.I always hand clip as I think you get a better finish and it keeps the hedge nice & tight but I let it get too long and used these to get the length down, very impressed would definitely recommend them.
Just received today, 17 Apr 22 and have already used it to hack my neighbours hedge which had become so overgrown on my side. Setting up out of the box is simple. Just undo a screw, insert the hand guard and tighten the screw again and you’re ready to go. It was light enough for me to hold and cut the entire hedge without resting and the actual cutting worked well even slicing through the thicker stalks without much effort. It does have some sort of blade protector when storing, but it’s just a thin piece of flexible plastic which will split along the sides in no time. Anyway, it’s a good machine and a good brand and the price doesn’t exactly break the bank even though you can buy other ‘never heard of’ makes cheaper.
Easier than using shears but not sure how long it stays sharp. Of course the brand new blades cut like expected, clean and no effort even through pencil size branches. Time will tell if this is a good purchase. The click fit safety guard was useless and not required. Probably a legal requirement but it does nothing. Just wear eye protection. Needs two hands to operate ( safety feature) so no injuries possible
Just watch the cable at all times. If you need to use step ladder I would go for battery type as cable is long and easily becomes a hazard
AND no I have not been paid to make this review! I bought this to replace a very old B&D trimmer that lost a bolt and I could not get a new bolt to stay tight. I am in love with this machine! Its about half the weight of my old one (and most of the trimmers of other brands currently available). So not only does it cut on first sweep, a neat and perfect finish but after cutting my huge hedge which runs across the front and down the side of our house I am way less tired than before. I am very impressed. This machine did not appear in the search for some reason when I did a general hedge trimmer search so initially I bought a Flymo brand almost exactly the same price (and the same weight as my old trimmer). I thought good brand name but it was useless. Had to do 4 or 5 passes to cut my privet hedge and it was still very untidy with twigs sticking out that it had stripped rather than cut. Sent it back and found this one after a specific brand name search. Sooooooo glad I did XXXXXX thank you B&D
I have just my Black & Decker hedge trimmer for the first time and it’s fantastic did the job I bought it for only little snag and it’s not much the guard that goes on the trimmer didn’t really fit properly even when I tried to secure it with the screw so left it off.
I’m very happy with my hedge trimmer and would recommend it. I’ve tried cordless hedge trimmers before and really don’t like them I wouldn’t recommend buying them buy the corded trimmers they are so much better and get the job done in one without the battery running out.
I liked this hedge trimmer as it is light and easy to operate, most of the ones I’ve bought in the past have been far too heavy, but this is just right. The only bugbear is that my hedges are at face height, so when trimming the top there is a vent at the side of the trimmer which emits a blast of air, which makes my eyes water a little, my other machines in the past have never had this, saying that, overall it’s not a bad trimmer.
