We have a small pond which accumulates quite a lot of sludge, partly produced through food and the end product but also by the vegetation surrounding the pond which falls in a decomposes.
This product helps to break down the sludge which accumulates, removes dirt out of the water and over time is helping me by ensuring that the filter stays cleaner for longer. It does take time and regular treatments to really work at its best, but it does work.
Recommended.
Be prepared to clean your filters every few days after applying this stuff ! It works but the break down means the filters work better so need changing every few days which is a pain but necessary. Pond still cloudy from it as smaller particles now !
This stuff is definitely working. It’s taking time but I can see it clearing. You have to keep cleaning and emptying your filter. I will be adding 2 more sachets to my 4000 litre pond on Friday. Will be buying again. We had a major algae issue and after using the green away blagdon we ended up with brown water. You need to keep on with it. Don’t expect miracles straight away.
We have been using this product for years and would never be without it. We use it in our pond, which is heavily stocked with fish and has a filtration system, the pond is crystal clear. Also been using it in our wildlife pond that has no filtration and that also is very clear and healthy. It is very expensive for the amount we have to use, but the pleasure we get from being able to see to the bottom of the pond makes it worth it.
Easy to put over the pond and does seem to affect the algae and is starting to clear my pond Will keep using until the algae has gone but over all very happy
My pond was green with algae and blanket weed. I had tried several things from Ramshorn snails to barley straw but nothing seemed to work. I scoured the internet for more solutions then came across this pond sludgebuster. It took 2 sachets and 4 weeks later and wow!! Crystal clear! You will see from the before and after photos the difference it has made and I can see my fish once again. I highly recommend this product!
Yes it does the job after I added the second dose.
I found that as it’s like a powder the first time I used it some blew away and some was eaten by the fish. So the second dose I added to the water in a container stirred it up and spread accross the pond. I think this did the trick as within a few days the pond had magically cleared. the filters needed cleaning as all the floating debri and sludge off the bottom had collected in there.

You must be patient with this product. I was a bit impatient and ended up using two sachets when I only really needed one. Turning the pump in my pond onto the highest power really helped and after a couple of cleaning of the foam in the filter my small pond was crystal clear. It took about a week but was worth the wait as I can now see my fish again. Will be keeping a packet in stock for if the water starts to look cloudy again.
I have been trying to get rid of algae for about three years. I have a small pond, no pump or filter, so I rely on a solar oxygenator and solar pump, which do work well in sunlight.
Nothing I’ve tried has worked before this. I put the sachet straight in the pond and it looked awful, cloudy and gritty but after 24 hrs settled.
Ten days later I could see the difference and two weeks later even better. I can see the bottom of my pond and all my visiting newts, will continue to use this product.
My pond filter and pump getting clogged with algae/sludge replaced my UV bulb and noticed as it started to its job the pond was getting cloudier until you couldn’t see the fish. Searched amazon and found blagdon sludge buster thought it’s worth a try.
Estimated 1 sachet would be enough, for my small/medium pond, gave it a few days and thought I could see a difference, became impatient after a week and added another, resulting in a clear pond in the next couple of days, could see right to the bottom of the pond.
As my pond does suffer with algae I bought blagdons algae treatment to help my uv light, as the algae is treated it clouds the pond but another sachet cleared it within a day,
Definitely recommend this product, did everything it said it would.
I purchased this product last week and since putting it in the pond, the water feature flow has remained the same strength despite no cleaning of the filter in the meantime. The water is so clear now that I can scan depths that were previously hidden from view. I see so much more of my koi, which I find very relaxing. What is the point of a pond if the fish are all but invisible?
Bottom line? This is a FANTASTIC product that has worked wonders for my pond and radically reduced the need for laborious and messy filter cleaning. I am astounded at the results – I could never have imagined it would be so effective in clearing my pond!
