It is a stylish looking hood with great suction, but I ignored the reviews saying the light was poor. However having fitted it for my Mum, I got the call to say she was struggling to see her hob now. After some investigation I discovered the light units push out (from above) and can be disconnected easily – running at 1.5w they are pretty useless.
I found these 12v 3w units:

which fit perfectly, and with a quick snip and a terminal block these can be fitted easily (keeping positive to positive, negative to negative) with the appropriate DIY skills, or an electrician if you don’t want to tackle it. And you’ll have 2 spare for down the road.
Mum happy. Happy life.
Delivered on time, easy to install quieter than the one we had before and it works really well the lights have two settings, the extractor has three settings plus a Boost button which is loud but we haven’t had to use that one yet, we have it as an external extractor and that works well. Pleased with our purchase.
The suction power oh I love it it’s so powerful for the size of my kitchen which is 4mx5m. Installation was easy and straight forward for me with the help of a real size drill template, I am just a DIY person and this was my first and it came out good my wife and the whole family love it too. We had a fitted one before this transformed the look of our kitchen to a a modern look.
i use as extraction hood, it’s all working fine. Not very noises in turbo mode in open kitchen. At beginning, not aware out put the carbon filter on make it recirculation mode. It can’t recirulate with very little air flow. I think it good for recirulation, but work well in extraction mode.
Clean modern stylish looking item which comes with a template for mounting plates and screw holes. Was able to install by myself with relative ease.
Love the touch button front.
Supplied Lights are a little dim so have installed more powerful bulbs.
Great product for the money. Looks and works like a much more expensive brand.
Fal looks very stylish. Easy to control with touch buttons. It was easy yo install as it comes with full size fan print, so just sticking to the wall and drilling holes. Very quite compare with other fans. Suction would give 4 out of 5, but I’m using filters, so without them it would be great. The only negative I can see is the stains forming from condensation next to the ventilation holes. Over all, for the price, it’s a great product.
Looks good and very powerful suction-especially good for getting rid of strong cooking smells like Indian spices or fried oil etc. I also love the timer system. Definitely worth the money!!!
Having had the cooker hood installed it lasted less than a week. It would turn itself on and produced a beeping sound which would only stop when it was turned off at the mains. Contacted customer service, who replied very quickly and when they were unable to solve the issue agreed to send a replacement. The second unit has now been installed for a week and is operating as I would expect it to.
I replaced my mum’s extractor fan that fails constantly because the plastic impeller breaks and comes away from the motor. I’ve had enough of buying that spare part so it was time to change it out.
She does a lot of cooking so strong suction was paramount. I asked the question of sturdiness prior to commiting with purchase. Most people who answered have either had it for at least a couple of years with no problems or have said it’s of a good build.
So I was skeptical to say the least when I saw it has a similar black plastic impeller when I received it. It certainly sucks very well. In the manual it says you should clean the impeller every so often. How? You’d have to take most of it apart to do so, no?
The install was very easy. The unit is relatively light weight so I was able to do everything myself without additional help. I find the touch buttons aren’t very responsive or the motor doesn’t kick in the moment you press the numbers. The LED lights are bright and strong.
Time will tell if the impeller will last. Like I said, it will get heavy use on speed setting 3 and B. Will it last more than a couple of years? Fingers crossed.
Edit: it has now been in use for almost 12 months. Still good. Touch wood. I have increased my original score of 3 stars to 4.
Light enough to install by one person. Template for fixing is not correct, dimensions not match unit so be aware. Top chimney cover a pain to fit.
Unit is quite compared to our old unit. Even in boost it’s not loud
It looks sleek and from other reviews I opted for this. After opening the well secured package I noticed two separate indent’s and was displeased. However as with another reviewer it’s location didn’t worth the return and subsequent wait for a perfect one. It complements my kitchen design and on a quick test is just right to do the job.
Very nice hood for the money. Not too noisy and easy to fit. It looks good quality and the touch buttons work well. The LED lights are a let down…they are far too cool (colour temperature should be around a warm 2800k not the horrible blue white light supplied around 6500k.) The lights supplied are also far too weak and not up to the job, I’ll be immediately replacing mine for something much more powerful and warmer. The unit is also quite heavy and tends to lean downward a little bit even when it’s mounted perfectly. You need to cut up a plastic card and use these to slide between the wall on the lower edge to push the unit up a little to square it off.
I think it’s decent value for money, the overall installation was ok, instructions are not great, and I didn’t receive any brackets for the top part of the hood so I made some out of MDF.
A good touch would be to supply a fold out template to sellotape to the wall first. Good looking unit. Good bracket could be a bit more robust.
When I first operated the fan it was clear that the fan wasn’t running free and a chaffing noise and vibration could be heard and felt. After a while the noise and vibration seemed to lessen. On close inspection it was found that the power lead had been contaminated with what appears to be paint. ! I hope that this unit is not a returned faulty item! I am having to use the hood so if you could send me a replacement ASAP I will change it and return the faulty unit. I hope this is not a sign of complete failure.
Please put me in touch with Ciarra office if possible
This is a slick looking extractor unit and as you can see from the picture it looks the part when it is fully built in as well as when it is fitted with the stainless steel exhaust hood on a flat wall. Our installation was not in an opened out chimney breast so our builder adapted the Ciarra unit so that it fitted this more complicated position better than it would otherwise have done. Funnily enough the Ciarra extractor was not our original first purchase – the builder had provided one for us with our Howdens Kitchen but when we saw it fitted we thought it looked terrible, so damn the expense, we searched the net and found this lovely looking Ciarra unit. The extractor was vented through the outside wall and not taken up through the chimney flue as that would have involved us in a lot more expense in the form of a metal chimney liner and all the fitting and messing about that would entail.
The extractor fan is modern and has a very slick 21st century minimalist look. It appears well made and so we hope it will give us good service before we need to replace or repair it. The extractor function itself is powerful, so much so that the builder asked where we had purchased it from as he had never seen one with that much suction force on a low to mid setting before.
Highly recommended
Took a chance on this as it is not that expensive but glad I did. Very quite and works well in our 14 ft x 10 ft kitchen. Mounting needs attention as it doesn’t hang level from wall on supplied bracket , it needed about 1/2 inch packing along bottom edge to level it out off wall, also the chimney mounting isn’t that good but making alternative fixing has greatly improved it. When all is done it is a brilliant extractor, pulls really great on all settings and the flaps on the external grill are fully open. You also need to unscrew the light panel and remove the lights to remove all the protective film. I would highly recommend this item .
