I have never owned a 3D printer before but after now having this for a couple of months I really don’t know how I’ve gone this long on life without one. From making myself small models to actually printing items off which are useful to me it’s the best thing in the world. I would recommend to anybody to get one of these.
It comes all securely packaged, safely surrounded with foam and protective bags. All tools and extra pieces are in locking bags making sure they don’t go everywhere.
There’s a small kit of tools supplied which I did use and was pleasantly surprised at how good they are. I do have a full toolbox worth of my own but it’s great that the required tools are supplied. Not only just tools but there is also a spare nozzle for the resin, so if mine were to ever break or become blocked I can repair and replace with the correct supplied one.
A full and detailed instructions manual comes with it along with a sticker sheet which are both great. Instructions are clear and I had the whole thing built up in no time at all and on my own so it’s completely doable at one person. There’s picture diagrams along with text to help with the building and I found this super helpful.
I was surprised at how small the whole unit actually is, expecting it to run very tall and large but it does not. It fits nicely on my desk next to the computer without taking up too much room.
It all works off the small tablet/screen on the side where I choose the file I wish to print off with is loaded using a supplied SD card, there are a couple of pre-loaded files but it’s super easy to load more from trusted websites. I just use the dial to navigate my way through the menus and away it goes.
It’s not the quietest of things to have in while it’s printing, I do have to admit that. But then again it isn’t massively loud, it’s quiet enough to have on while watching tv and doing things throughout the day but it’s a little too loud to have on while trying to sleep I have found. But that’s the fan doing it’s job and I am get to find it overheating, so it work very well.
I’ve had it running through the day and overnight and it works perfectly without any issues at all, the end product is always just what is expected. The supplied spool of resin is great and it lasted me a good while, just plain standard white but definitely a good solid material.
This is my first 3D printer and boy, what a machine it is! I was amazed that the price of 3D printers have dropped so much since they were first introduced, making it a much more accessible hobby item.
From the packaging, I was worried that the printer would not be up to much. It arrives in a plain, brown cardboard box with simple black lettering. More like a box of furniture than the flash glossy boxes with pictures that all my printers have arrived in in the past. But on opening the box, those worries disappeared. The printer itself is neatly packaged in protective foam and looks immediately impressive, even though it is only part assembled.
So, some assembly is required and I found the best thing for me was to watch videos on the supplied memory card and YouTube to see how to do it, rather than following the printed instructions. Attaching the gantry was easy, but I struggled a bit with the LCD display on the side – make sure you unwind the bolts fully so that when you screw it in the retention bolts rotate 90 degrees to lock it in place. The hardest part was levelling the plate – that took me about an hour and lots of video watching. Fortunately I did not need to adjust any of the belts, they were fine out of the box. There is a handy drawer in which to keep loose little bits and pieces from the box which is a nice touch and saves them from getting lost.
To get you started, the printer comes with two model files to test – a boat and a rabbit. They also provide plain white filament to print them with (this is just loose, not on a spool, but it worked fine just hanging this on the arm of the printer). These test models take about 2 hours each to print, time which I spent looking for more model files to print! You will probably want to get more filament in different colours pretty quickly and these cost roughly 15-20 each.
The printer is a little noisy, as the cooling fan spins constantly when it is switched on, not just when it is printing, but it is not too bad.
All in all, I am super impressed with the build quality and how easy it is to use once you get over the initial learning curve with the help of all the videos that you can easily find online. The precision of the prints is gob-smacking for a device at the cheaper end of the market and it is a great entry level product for someone new to this hobby. I cannot rate it highly enough and I am looking forward to printing all sorts of characters and models for my daughter to play with – well done Ender.
As I’ve never used a 3D printer before, I was so excited to try this, but anxious too. It seems so complicated at first, it feels really daunting getting started. Some assembly is required and the instructions to set up aren’t quite as well explained as I’d like. However, there are lots of YouTube videos available on this printer so I highly recommend taking a look there to get started.
Once you’ve worked your way through the basics and completed your first print, you realize it really isn’t that hard and the excitement really kicks in! There’s many resources out there for great models to print (many of them are even free). As an artist, this had got me really excited to try my hand at creating my own models and adding to the ever-growing 3D-printer community.
This is perhaps one of the best budget 3D printers out there right now.
It comes in almost all pre assembled, all you have to do is slot in the top part and the controller screen, i was done within 10 minutes.
There is some other prep you need to do, like calibrating and what not which will take a bit longer, but once all done and properly configured the quality of prints are really good.
Because the extruder is quite small, it prints slower but the quality is also improved, the lines are much finer and the seams are quite small, with some sanding and prepping after, you can have some really high quality prints.
I have combined it with Amazons Eono PLA filament, of which i am also really happy with, although this printer can print in PLA, ABS and PETG, there are pros and cons to each, but i decided to go ahead with PLA as it gives me the best results.
It’s not too loud either, the loudest part of the printer is the cooling fan, the printer itself is quite silent.
Overall though, amazing value for money and also extremely user friendly, you don’t need to know much about 3D printing to get this printer as it’s really easy to setup and use.
This is the first of the new generation of Creality printers that I have had the chance to use.
This printer has lots of features my earlier printers did not have, including:
* Magnetic removable print surface
* CR-touch levelling sensor
* Trinamic silent motor drivers
* 24 volts for fast heating (particularly the hotbed)
* ‘Easy’ levelling – but more on that below
* Colour display (unfotunately not touch sensitive though)
These are all really nice improvements on my old CR10 printers – I had to add these upgrades myself on them!
Out of the box, it assembled easily.
The bed levelling was also easy – but the instructions direct you to the website or the app (which you have to register for).
Although I am very experienced at bed levelling, and I have performed it on many printers over the last 4 years, I did still manage to get it wrong.
I sucessfully levelled and printed my first print from the test prints.
But when I went to print a second time, it seemed to have forgotten the level and this caused the print to fail.
Unfortunately, it was a serious fail and I managed to flood the print head with melted plastic.
This required me to disassemble the print head to remove the melted filament and I had to replace the Bowden tube as it completely jammed.
After I reassembled everything, I re-levelled the bed and since then it seems to have kept the level.
I’m not sure if this was me or a glitch with the printer, but it was a little disappointing given the price point of this printer.
I think you have to make sure you SAVE your bed level settings when you have adjusted them.
Since then it has performed well, but I have had a couple of other problems with it as I put it through its paces.
Occasionally, usually at the start of a print, the connector for the extruder motor comes loose.
This means that the print will fail as nothing is extruding.
This seems to be an issue with tension on the cable. I have now resolved this by attaching a cable tie to the extruder plate and anchoring the extruder motor cable to that.
The other issue I have experienced is that the control knob doesn’t always respond when you press it.
I’m not sure if the interface is over-sensitive (so it’s recording two presses when it should be recording one), or if the interface is ‘locked’ when an action is in place.
However, either way, when I do something like move the Z-axis, move the extruder, or set the temperature, pressing the knob in to ‘save’ the setting and return up the menu doesn’t always work.
This is very annoying. It’s not a hardware issue as the press works fine everywhere else.
Overall, it is a nice printer. It has features appropriate to its price point.
It’s just a bit frustrating sometimes – the interface lets it down a little.
This is first time I have used 3D printer; this is excellent 3D printer and easy to follow. It comes with clear instructions, while initial setup takes some time but straight forward.
I been using it for last 4 weeks with no issues to report. Comes with software on memory stick, you can download many custom designed from many free websites and can use this software to convert into relevant format and then can use this printer to print them. It does make noise, mostly fan noise and takes time to print which is usual for 3D printer. Overall best first-time 3D printer, value for money.
Hope you found this review helpful.
Checking a multitude of reviews and YouTube videos I had big expectation from this printer and I am delighted to report that even for a total novice like myself the results are impressive.
Personally I found very important is setting up the manual level of the tray on the first use before then using the self adjusting system.
Initially a bit worry on a steep learning curve, I now realize how easy these printers have become.
One star dropped only because it is possible to get it at a slightly lower price even on their official site
As a total beginner (I’ve never even seen a 3D printer before let alone set one up, used one or made anything with one!) I was really thrilled – and, to be honest, rather daunted – by this Creality Ender 3 V2 Neo 3D Printer.
I’m not massively techie (understatement!) so have to admit I did put off having a go with this. Although I was excited to start trying to make things with it, I also felt quite intimidated by it and was put off by the fiddly complexity of getting it set up and learning a whole new hobby/machine from scratch. I knew it would probably require a lot of time and patience on my part. But I finally took the plunge…!
Firstly, I have to say that I did find it stressful and not very easy to set up. However, I don’t think this is a reflection of the printer itself or the instructions. I was just totally clueless and would ideally have loved someone to be able to show me and talk me through it all, so that we could do it together. Unfortunately, I don’t know anyone who knows any more than I do (zilch!) so that wasn’t possible.
So, I did the next best thing I could think of and took to YouTube where there are plenty of instruction videos. Some just made me more confused, but I did find some excellent ones, which helped.
After more hours than I care to count, spread over a few days (in particular, I found it quite fiddly and time-consuming levelling the bed) I did manage to get it up and running. It took a while to get everything right (but I think it would do for a complete beginner?) but I was finally able to produce the white rabbit! And felt ridiculously proud of myself for doing so!
I don’t have any technical knowledge or any other machines to compare it with, so I can’t really comments on the specs etc. But if you are keen to get into 3D printing (or already know what you are doing) and you have the space for it, I think this printer is a good option for a reasonable price.
My original review wasn’t published for some reason but I will try again as I feel this needs the praise.
Firstly it was well packaged and the building instructions are so simple my 10yr old actually built this using the video on the micro sd card/website, I just had to check the tightness of the bolts.
He even leveled the bed following the video and was a little low to start with but overall it is easy to build.
I’ve owned a ender 3 for a few years and made a few comparisons as I upgraded mine over the years.
The neo comes with upgrades like;
Cr-touch bed leveling
Silent motherboard
Colour screen
Built in power supply
Belt covers and tensioners
Magnetic bed
All of the above is what hobbyists upgrade themselves so to have this included is great and makes the printer so much better.
First print hit the bed, this was my son’s first time so let him off.
Second attempt and we haven’t had to move anything as it printed so well. The new build-tak bed grips well and then releases easily.
I have managed very good quality prints at a speed of 150mm/s.
The preview image on screen needs to be used with the included creality slicer and saved ‘in creality format’ otherwise you won’t get a preview image.
Overall a very good 3D printer and a well worth upgrade over the ender 3 standard.
If you are new to 3D printing this makes it so much easier so set up.
As a complete beginner to 3D printing, I was a little unsure about how to get started, but the setup process was surprisingly straightforward. The instructions provided were clear and concise, and within just a few hours, I had it up and running and could print my first 3Dbenchy boat test.
I like how it’s pretty straightforward to use. The user interface is intuitive and user-friendly, and the touchscreen display provides all the necessary information for a successful print. So far it seems reliable as I have not had any prints fail that was not my fault.
So far, I’ve printed a variety of small things with it, including a cable holder, headphone holder that clamps onto my desk, and some Warhammer figures. All of these prints turned out great. I have not tried anything too big yet but you are supposed to be able to go quite big with this.
I appreciate the built-in features like the filament runout sensor and the resume printing function after a power outage, and the auto levelling which makes the whole workflow a little bit more accurate and easy
Overall, I would highly recommend this 3D printer to anyone who’s looking to get into 3D printing. It’s affordable, easy to use, and produces high-quality prints.
As a first time 3D printer owner I’m surprised by how easy it was to assemble. I managed to set it up in approx 30 mins and get it printingit arrived Mostly assembled i just needed to attach the top to the base, and install the screen, the instructions were quite straightforward.
The screen is a really good large size and handy as while printing tell you all information you need temp, amount of time printing and estimated time to finish etc.
It came with enough filament that I was able to do a few test prints which I was happy with, this is a great way to be able to make things which are not easily available and great fun and entertainment value to use!
I have put ‘beginners’ within the title for this review. It’s a good model for 3D printing beginners but you still need to have a good level of competency with general computing etc. I’m quite techy but have never had a 3D printer before, this model of printer makes it a relatively easy introduction into 3D printing but don’t be fooled into thinking its like picking up a plug and play inkjet printer.
There’s little point in me uploading pictures as it’s just the same bunny as most other people have printed as a demo. I have considered getting a 3D printer for some time and have been doing research on and off. The main reasons I hadn’t previously bitten the bullet was a) cost especially factoring in all of the upgrades I had read about and b) lack of time to properly invest in learning about it (I have a young family so don’t get much time for myself lately).
This model is very good value for money, it’s about as close to plug and play as I could ask for as a 3D printing newbie. I’m sure as I learn more and start to experiment I will want to possibly upgrade certain bits but at this time, there really isn’t a need.
Some of the other more experienced reviewers found this easy to get set up and running. As a newbie, it took me a bit longer. When it arrived late afternoon I was eager to get going but I waited until the weekend when I could start it on a morning. I’m glad I did that, it took a couple of hours of reading the manual, watching youtube videos, checking and rechecking. All part of the fun of learning a new hobby and definitely worthwhile investing time at the start to get things right.
I’m looking forward to experimenting more.
Firstly I found the instruction booklet very difficult to understand. The writing and the diagrams are so small and I struggled to make sense of them. Then the instruction book stops before it explains how to add the plastic filament and how to actually use it!
I do believe there are instruction videos on the website but I turned to YouTube.
It took 2 adults about 2 hours to work out the instruction. After that, I found an excellent YouTube video which was so helpful as it started from unboxing to printing. Although there were many extra steps the you tuber discussed about tweaking the printer and turning various knobs to level it, I tried it without doing any of the fine tuning and knob and screw turning. I presumed it would be ready to go.
Eventually I got the micro SD card which is included to show two test prints of a rabbit and a boat. After preheating the printer, I started printing the rabbit. I was so excited it was actually working, but that soon turned to disappointment when the rabbit started moving around as it had not stuck. I tried again but had the exact same problem.
As a complete beginner, I have no idea how to sort this problem out so I’m going to have to spend a lot of time googling! I will update my review when I work out how to correct the problem.
Bit disappointed but no doubt it is my fault. The printer itself appears sturdy and well made, and would no doubt be easy to put together for someone who has used a 3D printer before.
The printer arrived very well-protected and packaged.
It comes complete with tools and everything necessary to start printing 3d in a matter of minutes (including 250g of good quality sample “white” filament). A paper manual is provided as well as a digital manual (Pen drive), including a tutorial video explaining step to step how to set up and prepare the printer. The pen drive also contains the “Creality Slicer” program and samples of 3d objects that you can use to make the first prints and test the printer.
The printer itself comes semi-pre-built, but not much is necessary to get it all ready and running; After reading the manual and watching the video, I quickly managed to set it up, adjust it and level up the bed with no difficulties; The LCD controller is very user friendly and easy to operate;
The creality software is simple and straightforward. I managed to slice the “.stl file” and convert it to a “g-coded file” so it could be read by the printer through the micro-sd card reader. The printer then warms up and starts the printing process in a few minutes. We had GREAT success in our first prints, as can be seen from the photos /video.
This is a GREAT piece of kit, and we could not be happier! I’d definitely recommend it to anyone wanting to start with the hobby!
