Easy to use and 0.1gm accuracy with the joy of AAA batteries. Lovely colour too.
Small in size but don’t be fooled it a great little thing, good price easy to use and easy to pack away.
We use these for measuring salt addition in the brewery and they are a great product, easy to use, stable readings and the battery last ages and a easily changed.
Scale works well and is very precise. It is easy to use and very handy to have.
Accuracy good
Easy to use.
Good value for the money.
I would definitely recommend this produc
Great for weighing bigger items such as food etc but not great for essential oils which is what I wanted to weigh as wouldn’t pick up a few grams.
Still great for everything else.
I purchased a set of these scales to use when making espresso on my Gaggia Classic. They are a small scale which is a perfect fit for this purpose. They seem accurate, are consistent and importantly respond to changes in weight quickly . They have a number of trays and covers but I do not use them. I think these are a really good value option for coffee scales
I bought htese ona recommendation, as my old set of jewellers scales had seen better days and htye had always bugged me because the weighing area was a bit tiny.
Although these scales have a much bigger weighing area, overall they are not much bigger than my jewllers scales so they take up very little room, and are flat when tidied away(so you could slide them in like a book somewhere, but because of the covers, theoretically you could store them under something – but personally I would not do that because you would have to lift whatever it was off every time you needed them)
They come with batteries included, ace.
They come with 2 covers – and that is where I was being a bit daft and thought they were not measuing , but I had missed the second cover that protects the measuring area when not in use, but also serves as a very handy second weighing basket.
The second cover, covers the whole scale including the first cover, can also be used as a weighing basket and both covers are clear acrylic.
I went for the silver, and it blends in nicely with my metal prep area, and I am very pleased with them.
The time to fix the weight is a tiny bit slower than the jewllers scales, but as I am not speed measuring anything, it is not at all noticeable and does not affect the use in my home ( chocolate, coffee, suppliments, teas, chocolate, baking ingredients, did I mention chocolate?)
The scales can take a load of up to 3kg, but you would need to ensure that the 3Kg could be added within a recepticle that had a base no bigger than the weighing area which I think is about 10cm on each side of the square – so most medium sized mixing bowls would suit – trying to put a cat on it would not work ( for oh so many reasons)
They are easy to wipe clean and the battery compartment, which is on the underside is really easy to get to, open, and replace, unlike some scales.
hope this helps any prospective buyers.
I bought this because I am barita geek and I was looking for an scale to measure my coffee at home. There is many expensive scales for baristas BUT I cant afford spend 300/400 on this, so I gave this a try and I really happy with it, many months later, is still working as first day.
I bought this scale two months ago and I have been using it daily. It comes with two plastic trays that can be used to protect the scale itself, or to weight things in. The scale is very sleek, easy to use and is fairly good at sensing the addition of small amounts of food. I am very pleased with this purchase, I would buy it again. A big bonus for me is that it has proper buttons, and when you press them you do not press down on the part of the scale that senses the weight (like some touch buttons do on other scales). When placing cups or small bowls on it, I noticed the surface scratches quite easily. However, it doesn’t bother me that much. If my family would want a scale for Christmas I would buy them this.
This is a great little scale! It is accurate and responds quickly. When I use it for baking I can accurately weigh liquids as I pour (other scales I have owned were slow to respond often leading to overshooting the desired weight). Although it is small it still works well with all the mixing bowl sizes that I use to measure out ingredients.
Over the years I have bought a number of scales at higher price points and been disappointed with their performance (less accurate, slower to react to change in weight) so happy to finally find this one.
For the price this scale has definitely exceeded my expectations. I am very happy with this purchase.
This is a fantastic set of scales. It is tiny but truly amazing. This is a very high quality product. I would recommend these scales to anybody. I love the way the plastic cover sits over the weighing pan to protect it and the entire set of scales fits inside the larger weighing bowl, this is very clever and well thought ou
I purchased these scales to meet the somewhat unusual requirement to weigh piles of A5 leaflets as a quick means of counting them out. I already own the very similar scales that have a maximum load capacity of 500g. These lower capacity scales can easily distinguish the weight of a single leaflet, but I needed the 3kg capacity scale to be able to weigh larger quantity of leaflets in one go. Not surprisingly, the 3kg version isn’t quite so sensitive, but even so they are remarkably good. Given the cost of full-blown laboratory scales with similar capabilities, these are an absolute bargain.
What I haven’t done is to subject them to the rigours of frequent use in the hurly-burly and mess of actual kitchen use.
Some of the capability of both sets of scale, such as setting them up to read individual items by weighing a set number of items, isn’t that intuitive, but readily accomplished by reading the manual.
Cheap and very simple to use, why I never bough one of these years ago I just don’t know. Use: I bought if to measure the out Epoxy resins to get the correct amount of hardener to resin. It is great for this. The bright blue screen is simple easy to see and read, big point as much stuff isn’t these days. My wife and I decided to diet and had to weight our foods. It has proven invaluable for this. I can measure many different measure like oz, grams etc. I like the fact that in the morning if you set you bowl on the scale first before you switch it on, once you do switch it on the will automatically zero. If you need a small compact scale buy this one. Even if you go camping of caravaning this would be great.
Nice and handy little digital scales. Got mine to weigh hops so the decimal precision is a pretty welcomed add-on. Very happy so far – the display is bright and crisp with blue backlight, useful in poorly lit conditions. I got other scales where you get your black digits on grey backgroung set up, and Brifit definitely does a much better job here.
Decent build and not too many nooks and crannies – easy to clean.
I’ve had to purchase this twice. The buttons on my first unit from 3 years ago are no longer very responsive. The reason I just purchased the same one again after having one die is:
1. It’s hard to find good cheap scales at 0.1g increments (essential for coffee)
2. The scale themselves are very accurate
I got this after becoming obsessed with home espresso making. When I was first “dialling in” my brew recipe, I used this to measure exactly how much dry coffee was going in the portafilter, and exactly how much coffee was going in the espresso glass; to target a perfect 1:2 ratio.
Due to the size I could put the espresso glass on this as the coffee was coming out; and watch the weight change “live”. Great fun, and great to have the 0.1g accuracy.
I also did a few checks of the weight and found it to be well calibrated.
Cheap and reliable – well recommended.
Does exactly what it says on the tin. However on occasion when preparing a plate to measure the weight of each food item, the mass with decrease over time which can be a bit of a headache if I don’t take the first reading immediately
I work in speciality coffee and run my own coffee stall on sundays. This will do the job perfectly if you are looking for a balance to dial in your coffee machine and grinder. If you are starting such an enterprise on a budget, this will do the job absolutely fine, for one tenth or less of the price of the sleek white ones pushed by suppliers to the coffee industry. It might not be quite as perfectly designed as the sleek white ones, which might (or might not?) be more water-resistant, but you could afford to break ten of these before it would have paid off to get the much more expensive ones. I have tested this (not extensively) with some old fashioned weights, and it seems to be perfectly calibrated. I am also a chemistry graduate, so have lots of experience with balances. This one has a swift response time (which is useful when dialing in a coffee machine). This one seems good. I am relieved not to have spent way over the odds for something that shouldn’t be all that expensive.
Simple, easy to use, takes AAA batteries instead of those awkward flat round watch type batteries, and has a smart little cover that doubles as two – albeit small – trays to weigh things in. As long as it doesn’t spontaneously die on me earlier than I would hope for the price I’m as ecstatic as anyone can be about weighing scales.
I just want to reiterate, I’m so pleased these take batteries that with a toddler in the family you always have a couple spare of. I haven’t had them long enough to comment on the battery life but will try to update my review when they do go.
Just to compare them to my other fairly cheap scales from a major brand (that starts with salt ;)) in less than a year of having it the batteries would go ridiculously fast, to the point that I hit up a jeweller for a stash of the flat batteries needed for them, however they had a higher upper limit (5kg), but I truly couldn’t care less for the price, design and function of these. Also the other ones only read to the nearest gram, these go to one decimal place.
For the price these are brilliant little scales.
I have tested the accuracy using calibration weights and they are within 1.7% accuracy.
This is good enough for most peoples usage.
If I was to weigh an item which displays as 1000g (1kg) it could weigh as much as 1017g or as little as 983g which isn’t far out for a set of scales which don’t forget is only costing 8.99 DELIVERED !!!!
Outstanding value for money.
They look the part, come well packaged and have a handy little wegh tray which converts into a case.
Well worth the buy !!!
I use this for experimenting with coffee brewing – making small variations in grinds to water ratios. Very simple to use – measured against standard weights that I own I am getting a maximum of 2% error which is fine for what I need. The instructions are very brief but adequate. When you unpack it, there are two plastic covers – one in which the scales fit, the other which covers the weighing area. You need to remove both – otherwise the scales won’t register what you put on them – it took me 5 minutes of cursing before I realised the weighing surface had a removable cover.
The instructions were a bit multi-lingual, so I’m not sure if the promised piece-counting facility works or if, as I think, it doesn’t have the ‘units’ button calibrated to work for counting. (it just changes to grams to ounces to grains, carats etc.) But even without this it’s a very useful piece of kit. Seems quite accurate, despite other customer reviews. And I’m not sure yet if it weighs up to 500gr or 5,000
I bought these to measure coffee grind for espresso. I was concerned as they look a tad cheap on the photo’s and to be honest when arrived the quality is cheap (what do you expect for sub 10 posted!) – But they do look great! Nice and compact, brushed steel platform and seem robust enough, although mine seems to wobble on the base like the whole thing is twisted slightly.
Accuracy appears to be good and does measure within 0.1g – But they do float within +/- 0.1g from time to time.
Can’t complain for the price at all and I recommend.
These scales are great. I bought them to take on holiday; long haul flight, self catering on arrival and I wanted to be able to make cakes. the scales are really small but accurate and worked perfectly in grams and ounces. They are very light and take up no space in the luggage (not much bigger than an average paperback and probably lighter). They were very good value too, so even if they hadn’t lasted, they would have been worth it – but in fact they seem pretty well made and I am sure that I will be taking them on my next self-catering holiday.
Considering the price this is a really good balance. I checked with 1g, 10g, 100g and 2000g calibration weights and it was spot on and reproducible. The spec says it can measure to 0.1g, however after much testing the smallest weight it could register was 0.5g. Considering the range of the balance (0 – 3000g) I think it is pretty amazing. If you want to measure smaller increments then opting for a smaller range version may be better. For my needs though it is perfect. Next day delivery too with free P&P!!
Delivery was quick and painless. I have to admit that I was very surprised by how tiny the scale actually is and was honestly worried that it maybe couldn’t do the job. Looking at it more closely I shouldn’t have worried at all. Build quality is very good and looks a lot more expensive than it actually is. Including the batteries in the package was a nice touch – really appreciated as I don’t have a lot of battery-operated products anymore. The scale is very easy to use and I like the “count items” function, even if I will probably never use it. The scale looks very precise and can handle all sorts of things. I cannot find a single fault with it – and it looks pretty good in my kitchen. Five well deserved stars as far as I’m concerned.
Fantastic buy. Bought to weigh components for quadcopter racing as even half a gram counts. It was important to have a scale that was accurate even at extremely light weights but also for gross build weight up to 3kg’s!! Tested this with micro gauge wire and it is spot on. I use it to weigh all my builds now and I am genuinely surprised at the sale price compared to other brands. Postage free and next day delivery with prime. If you want accurate reads to 0.1gram for under 15 quid this can not be beaten. would definitely buy from these guys again.
