Cuisinart CGPR-221 Cast Iron Grill Press (Wood Handle)

Cuisinart CGPR-221 Cast Iron Grill Press (Wood Handle)

It’s easy to use.

When the grill press is heated sufficiently, the ridged surface will create perfect char marks every time. Start by heating it to the same temperature as the grill or pan, then place directly on top of foods to accelerate cooking. Large enough to press two burgers at a time. Great for cooking bacon, pork chops, or for keeping hot dogs in place on the grill.

Perfect for grilled sandwiches.

Heat a pan on the stove with the grill press in the pan. When the pan and press are sufficiently heated, put a fresh pannini or grilled cheese sandwich in the pan and place the grill press on top of it. The three pound weight of the grill press applies the perfect amount of pressure to not only cook sandwhiches evenly, but with wide diagonal char lines.

Cast iron lasts a *.

This is a must have tool for everyone, whether you’re a serious chef or new to grilling. The cast iron radiates heat evenly, helping foods cook to perfection. Cooking out fat while searing meat develops complex flavours. Treat the grill press like all cast iron cookware, when hand washing be sure to dry it immediately to avoid rust or ruining the seasoning.

Works well for steaks – it’s heavy enough to press without much effort. Results in better contact with the pan or grill.

I’ve used it for smash burgers as well but the grooves are aggressive, so a spatula worked better.

    Steaks

This product is as well made as the one I had 60 years ago. I keep it handy for many uses on my range if I need weight to cook evenly, such as bacon and burgers!

If you have a griddle, I would recommend this grill press to help your cooking. It has a wooden handle, so it won’t get too hot, it’s quite large, and of decent weight. Great for using as a bacon press, putting some weight on proteins, and if you want to make a grilled burrito or quesadilla. The downside is that it is cast iron, so it will rust if you don’t take care of it, and it’s not the easiest to clean. However, this is a good product, and I would recommend it for griddle owners. Note: Since the handle is made of wood, I would not recommend using it in a very hot bbq or gas grill.

We got this really because of the brand name, and it was on heavy sale for some reason. So glad we did!

I took comparison photos with the one that came with a grill accessory kit (and was a fine press), but I cant figure out how to share.

This is *much* larger than the standard. And when they say it weighs 2.1 pounds, that may not sound like a lot but trust me, this is the one you want! The handle is just higher quality. The botton has grill marks, which are nice, but you realize using it that the “empty” grooves provide an even airflow to it as well. Lastly, and this to me was genius, the edges are raised, meaning a higher portion of that 2.1 pounds is distributed along the edges of this, which may not sounds like a big deal but it is. No wobble, can handle oddly shaped items, wont slide like a “plain” flat press. This famous brand earns its stripes (pun intended) once again.

This was a Father’s Day gift to my husband, who recently purchased a Blackstone. We’d been wanting to make smash burgers and this is just the accessory needed. It is sturdy and well crafted and I’d recommend to anyone.

Great product for it’s purpose. Don’t squeeze raw meat, or you will lose the juices. But it is handy for a number of recipies.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI am glad that I payed no notice to the nay/negative comments and went ahead and purchased this tool.
I have a 12″ Cast iron frypan that this grill press fits perfectly, no it is too big for the Lodge 9″ pan!
Also works great with a Countertop Flat Top Grill.
Since it is cast iron I just set it directly on a Med-High stove burner and it gets plenty hot where a glove is needed, then press down on bread and viola, proper grill marks!

I also wanted to address the rust issue, so far a non-issue for me and my six cast iron pans, however if you should get rust just use a steel scrubber pad and spray with a light coating of cooking spray and you’re back in business.

    Works great.
