It was very easy to install once you found the reverse light power. Minor issue, It could do with a pack of cable ties to keep all the wires tidy and secure.
These are very good. I installed them on a 2015 Peugeot Expert Tepee taxi. If you’re pedantic these will take a couple of hours to install but they’re well worth it. They work perfectly, silver colour was spot on and install was lengthy but easy enough.
Had these installed on my Kia Rio for a few months and so far they have been very reliable and have not failed, only had one instance where they continously beeped, this was in snow and I wiped the sensors, have not had this issue reoccur even in the recent snow.
The kit was relatively easy to install, comes with everything you need, although I did have help from a friend to remove part of the bumper/boot trim and you will need to find a way to tap into the reverse power feed, I chose to solder but you can do it any other way.
The parking sensors sensitivity can be adjusted to suit you. So far they have been really helpful, so would recommend!
Exc product easy fit
Hardest job was making sure the holes in the bumper were In the right spot and not hitting anything behind two scotch lock wire fitting to the back light simple
Fantastic product bought these for my daughters first car. I’ve had mine for 2 years with no issues. Easy to install for someone with good DIY skills. Personal I found taking the bumper of was best but not essential. Definitely recommend these
This product was installed by several other campervan owners so I thought I’d use the same. It works, installation was relatively easy on a Fiat Ducato though where you hide the control box and speaker can be tricky. Sensitivity can be adjusted but there’s no control of the speaker volume.
Rear parking sensors on Audi TT. Metallic Grey was a great colour match to bumper. Work well, had garage install it. If I were doing it again, I’d look for 6 rather than 4 sensors – get better warning if corner of bumper approaching hazard. Only criticism is that volume level on warning is very low. Hard to hear if radio on.
The colour is pretty much as exact match, cannot tell the difference at all. Took me a few hours to get everything lined up, drilled, holed and wiring plumbed in, but well worth the worth the effort. Managed to install them without removing the bumper too. I haven’t quite figured out what the +/- sensitivity actually does, seems to be the same whether it’s tuned up or down, but perhaps I just need to have more of a play about with it.
Overall, very happy. I even rang the vendor directly for advice, etc, and they were extremely helpful.
Measure, measure, measure, and cut one, and you should be fine. Just make sure everything lines up
Only thing you need in addition to the kit is some kind of crimp for connecting to the reversing light. Really good kit and simple enough to fit for someone with a bit of DIY experience.
I’ve had a set of these on my CRV for over five years, and they’ve never let me down, so now we’ve bought an MX-5 too, I wanted the same system.
Fitting does of course require drilling the bumper, but the rest is as complicated as you make it. I like everything to be tucked away neatly, and I wanted the buzzer in the cabin, not the boot, so fitting took about four hours.
Spare parts are available, and given my long-term experience, I’d recommend these over cheap copies.
Overall… excellent!
Fitted this kit to my mother-in-law’s 2005 Peugeot 307. Pretty straightforward – took about 3 hours, a good part of which was spent working out best way to get the sensor leads back into the boot space. Would have been good if kit had included a Scotchlock connector to hook into the reversing light power lead.
Installed, the sensors do not seem to be quite as sophisticated as manufacturer’s original equipment – the transition between beeps and continuous warning sound is quite abrupt. The continuous sound, however, reliably comes on when 25 cm from obstruction. Overall a good product and value for money.
I fitted these to a 2002 Honda CR-V. I can’t say it was easy, but probably no more difficult than other similar products. I had to use the angled spacers/washers that come supplied because the bumper is angled upwards where they need to be fitted. Maybe because of this, the sensors aren’t perfectly flush to the bumper, there’s about 0.5mm gap in places. When you push them in, don’t push the centre, push the surrounding ring.
I tapped into the live feed of the reversing light as instructed, but tapped into an available earth wire rather than a metal body part.
I can’t understand why the power and earth leads are simple wires, meaning you should really strip the live to the reversing light and solder it in. I used Posi-Tap connectors which made it much simpler and results in less damage to the car’s wiring. In my opinion, Posi-Taps should be included in the box. I would recommend getting some if you’re taking this on.
I would also recommend watching every YouTube video you can find on the subject, especially if you can find ones specific to your make and model of car.
I’m no auto electrician but I do have limited experience of messing about with motorbikes. Also my car isn’t worth much, so the risk was low. If you have no experience of doing stuff like this, and/or your car is worth quite a bit, I would suggest finding a professional to do it for you, or at least a knowledgeable mate. It took me about 5 hours. The bumper had to come off, and most of the boot interior and trim (it may be easier on your car). I’m cream crackered now!
Bear in mind, there are lots of weird little plastic clips that hold bumpers and trims together, and they break if you force them or do it wrong.
To be honest, the instructions aren’t up to much. Theres more info and instructions on their website, and on the Amazon ad, than there is in the box. Do your research. Read and watch everything you can find. Then maybe get someone else to do it for you 😉
Oh, they do work btw, so I’m happy. Overall, good value.
Had been considering to buy some reversing sensors for my wife`s Ford Fiesta and having carried out some online reviews these Dolphin sensors came highly rated albeit dearer than other similar products.
First purchase (Storm Grey) was not as close a match to the colour of the Fiesta so had to return them (with no problem from seller) and re order Iron Grey coloured sensors which were a much closer match..
Son in law is a mechanic and he installed them in about one hour without much of a problem..
After four days of use they are currently working perfectly with the solid “buzzing” sound showing a distance of about 12 inches to the object at the rear of the car; so at present very pleased..
One thing I have been made aware of is these are classed as a modification to your vehicle (even though it is obviously to benefit and assist you) and your insurance company should be informed.. Some will not charge you any additional premiums but others will as they say it makes you more complacent in reversing (which I disagree with) just for info, up to you if you inform your insurance or not but you know what they are like if you have a bump.. “oh you didn`t inform us about the modification!”
Great product though and highly recommended by myself..
**UPDATE****
It`s now October 2021 and these reversing sensors are still working flawlessly on my wife`s 2011 Ford Fiesta, very pleased with them………
UPDATE SEPT. 2022
Still working perfectly…..
Bought these reverse after looking around for the best deal. Easy to install on a VW Up. Read reviews saying the bleeper was not loud enough, but after installation found more than loud enough so have placed in the tailgate area to slightly muffle. 4 sensors are sufficient for the up spaced at 40cm apart, but I feel for a wider car 5/6 sensors would be better. Sensors pick up everything as I have tested near lamp posts and when reversing where there is a fence. The sensor setting adjustment could be improved by increasing the warning to leave more of a distance (I’m getting about 30cm with what is directly behind me) at full +ve, but something to get used to.
I have bought it in grey ( clear ) color but doesn’t mach the grey colour of my car , works fine , looks ok , sounds nice not enjoying but can be adjusted when fitted ( cost at the garage 100)
These are very good reversing sensors. The design of my Hyundai i30 meant that I had to remove the rear bumper to fit the sensors but once fitted everything worked well. I have a tow-bar fitted to my car so needed to be careful when reversing and now its much easier and I can relax knowing I’m not going to hit a wall or something. The fitting and wiring instructions are very good and everything tucks away neatly in the boot. The “beeper” is not intrusive and yet can be heard above the sound of the radio easily.
All in all a very good system that does exactly what it’s supposed to do and I recomend it to anyone.
Although I purchased this reversing sensor kit as my Wife’s Christmas present, I have only recently fitted it to her Suzuki Jimny.
However, I felt I just had to make this belated review and say how pleased I am with the finished result.
The original OEM sensor was awful! It always failed if there was any sign of rain, but when it did work there was continual bleeping and chirping as you reversed.
Removing it from the car wasn’t easy either, but the Dolphin worked first time out of the box, the hardest part was neatly routing the long sensor wires to make a tidy job.
To be honest I don’t see the difference between this (60 incl the optional display) and several other 25 wired units I have purchased off ebay in the past for fitting to other vehicles. It is a good system though according to the reviews so hopefully the quality is in the sensors/circuitry .
Good instructions and adjustable sensitivity (if you need it, I have mine set to the max).
Fitted this kit to my Mk7 Fiesta after studying video,s on the internet and reading the manual supplied.
It took around 2 hours to fit and to say I am delighted is an understatement I love them.
The distance the beeper activates is absolutely bang on and everytime you select reverse there is a reassuring beep to say the system working ok.
Based on my experience so far I have no hesitation in recommending the Dolphin kit and fitting it myself saved around 150 on quoted prices also the colour I chose matched the Frozen White of my Fiesta perfectly,10 out of 10.
This does look strikingly similar (same box, wiring etc) as the kits on eBay for 10 but I opted for a reputable source just in case. Instructions were not very helpful but it is pretty straight forward anyway. Had to remove bumper on my wife’s polo as no access from underneath, but once removed and the wires all connected it was just a case of removing the rear light cluster and boot trim to fit the beeper and splice the reverse lamp wire. Very tidy once finished and works a charm. The beep is more high pitched than OEM ones I have had but a minor gripe.
Very impressed with these. Sea Blue is an almost exact match to my Barnets Blue Volvo V50. Instalation took about an hour – I removed the back bumper and soldered into into the reverse light wire. The V50 had the same sensor locations marked inside the bumper, which was very handy. I’ve the beeper inside the light cluster access hole, and it’s goid and loud. The setup has been working flawlessly so far. As soon as I hear the solid tone, I know I still have enough space to open the boot with a wall behind me.
Very good quality so far. Perfect color match (I had my doubts). Installed on Corsa C (2004). The color was Aqua (so pictures are a bit misleading). Would recommend to have some cross reference to factory color numbers (or I just didn’t find it and was lucky to order my color). Took me 3-4 hours to route (and the hassle was with the front LED display- bought separately). Everything needed is in the package. You can use additional sealant/hot glue to keep the sensors in place and with the grommet on entry in the trunk.
Far better than the cheaper types I have purchased in the past. I particularly like the way it is possible to disconnect each individual sensor without having to remove and then reroute the wire all the way back to the control box. I have used them in my 7 meter motorhome and extended the beeper wire without any problems so that I could position the beeper at the front.
Through my own fault I lost the angled spacers which I later discovered I needed to fit, they were easily obtainable from the company.
Just fitted these to a 2011 Kia Rio Graphite and the Iron Grey sensor finish is a perfect match. Took less than two hours, all be it that I didn’t remove the rear bumper (a quick look and feel around gave me the confidence that it wasn’t necessary). Looks like it rolled out of the factory with them fitted already. Whats more I’m so impressed with how they fitted, look and operate that I’ve now ordered the fronts. This despite the feeling, having had a good look and weigh up, that I’m going to have to take the front bumper off.
