Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersBought this tool after the lack of an Air impact wrench caused 2 hours work drilling out a brake disc retaining screw, (with the shallowest cross slots ever seen). Admittedly I did underestimate the initial tightness of the screw and the corrosion on the exposed rear threads. Careful use with the newly purchased Impact Driver, on the opposite side brake disc screw, cracked the initial seizure and allowed removal, with lots of re-tightening and loosening (using the reverse settings on the driver). The quality of the tool was better than I expected and I would definitely recommend it for Home use.

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersUsed this to loosen a couple of stainless steel M5 screws that our friendly neighbourhood boiler engineers had managed to cross thread and then tighten up beyond any sensible proportion. An electric impact driver had failed, as had plus-gas, heat, and a well fitting chrome vanadium screwdriver. A few taps with a hammer with this tool did the trick – screws loosened, and out they came, when nothing else had worked.

To those who don’t know whether this tool will loosen or tighten – two things. 1) it’s supplied in the ‘loosen’ setting, and 2) the easiest way to set it is to put it onto the screw you want to undo (or tighten) and then turn the body in the direction you want to move it in – this will set it correctly. Apply light turning pressure, and then hit it firmly with a hammer, and hey presto out it will come. Be patient – a dozen firm taps is more effective than one large thud, which risks snapping the screw off..

Nice tool. The bits are good enough and appear to be CR-V.

I ordered this to get a really stubborn screw out of my door frame which just wouldn’t budge with a normal screwdriver. Job done – first time!
The tool itself is very well built / sturdy and comes with a variety of heads, including the ability to fit sockets. It’s supplied in a metal carrying case which is well made too.
Recommended for anyone struggling with screws or bolts!

Golden Review Award: 6 From Our UsersI needed to replace the discs on my car and an impact driver is always essential for loosing the weather corroded screws. The tool itself was superb and worked absolutely perfectly, the bits supplied were a little cheap and cheerful and most broke after half a dozen uses. I’d advise getting some pukka bits for the tool if you intend to buy this item for really serious work.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersWhy didn’t I buy one of these before? A must! An impossibly stuck screw on a fireplace. Didn’t know what to do. A few hits with this and it loosened it. Had since used it on a screw stuck in a BBQ.

    Physics works!

You set it to screw, and whack it with a hammer. The forward motion you whack it with is turned into a quick turn. And hey-presto, losers the screw.

Like most DIY mechanics, I was facing machine screws which wouldn’t budge and had started to cam-out. A few minutes with this tool and they were all removed…result!

Push the bit holder into the handle and twist the handle to set it L or R

Just remember it’s ‘L’ for loosen and refers to which way to twist the main handle relative to the bit. If your not sure, push down firmly and slowly on a hard surface and you’ll see the bit turn a fraction to confirm it’s set for loosen or tighten.

Fantastic bit of kit for the price! I will probably never know how resilient the screwdriver is as I am not a pro/heavy user but I have already used the item once since purchasing to drive some awkward screws into the wall and properly secure my TV bracket. It was a piece of cake and didn’t even need to use a hammer – this thing’s got clout! It’s got some weight behind it which means you’ll need a lot less elbow grease to get the job done.

Used a few times and had removed the stick items okay. Don’t whack it hell for leather. Hit it firmly and steadily to free whatever is stuck. If you just leather it then it’s probably going to jump or take the head off, this is the same for most impact drivers of this size.
Works well, no issues. It’s got a nice chunky feel and hefty weight so easy to steady when hitting it. The ends haven’t chewed up or worn out yet, (used three bits so far). Bargain.

Does the job well. It hasn’t broken but can’t see it lasting a long time as the plastic doesn’t feel too strong. That being said, it hasn’t let me down yet. Just use a rubber mallet with it.

Comes in a nice metal case that also stores all of the bits. Can also use 1/2″ sockets with it.

This has not had much use but I remember them from many years back as a useful bit of kit to have around. I can’t what the fuss is about on other reviews criticising the box. Everything fits in, it closes as it should and does it’s job. This would have got 5 stars but the plastic covering tends to slide up above the end after a couple of hammer hits.

Good tool for the money. It has bigger 5/16 Hex bits but if you want to use smaller standard screwdriver bits you will need to buy
good quality 1/2-Inch Square to 1/4-Inch Hex Adapter. Good one will cost you more than this Screwdriver Set 🙁
Draper should make it 1,4″ or include adapter with this set.

Had a problem with stubborn screws in my french doors. Just put this baby to the test and it was no contest. The screws moved with no bother. Worth every penny. Just trying to work out how to get smaller bits to fit.

Had this about 6 months when I wanted to shift some more screws. Guess what, the ring that changes the direction the bit turns when the driver is struck wouldn’t go to extract. Was even more disappointed when I returned the item and the seller did not refund my postage – for an item that was faulty. I think this is disgraceful. Perhaps I should think twice about ordering from them again.

I bought this to remove the holding screw from some disc brake rotors. The tool worked perfectly, with little effort required, and seemed quite safe to use. The bits are quite well sized for larger jobs.

The case design could be improved, the bits get in the way when closing.

Note – to reverse just push in then turn.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersI bought this driver as I’m restoring a 30 year old motorbike – it’s bound to have stuck screws at some point, and even if not, it’s one of those tools that I know I’ll need in the future because there’ve been occasions in the past when it’d have been handy!

It’s solidly built and was inexpensive and arrived promptly, and I find Draper products to be pretty good.

I always read previous customer reviews when buying items like this, particularly the bad ones in case there are points I haven’t thought about that I should bare in mind, and this appeared to be well thought-of by most customers. The opinion one reviewer wrote saying it didn’t fit in its tin seems inaccurate – it comes with an assortment of different driver bits – some are narrow (flat-head bits) and others are fatter (phillips-head bits). The tin will close if you arrange those bits correctly around the driver. I’ll concede that perhaps a slightly bigger tin would alleviate this issue altogether.

Overall, I think it’s a great product that I can’t see letting me down – thumbs up from me!! (If it falls apart 1st time I use it, you can be sure I’ll amend this review!)

Item arrived very quickly and is of good quality, I’ve had a screw plug thats been seized in the rear brake caliper of my motorbike for sometime, the head was chewed and the plug wouldnt loosen after many attempts, thought I would try one of these as a last resort before taking it to a mechanic.2 taps with a hammer later and the screw plug was loose and out, its a great item to have in your tool box. I have to agree though with some of the other reviewers about the storage case,it is very hard to close with the screwdriver bits inside and is a bad design, dont let that put you off though still a great item.

Ok this does the job. I bought it to remove some seized s/s screws in an aluminium mast. If you start off fairly patiently and then get going it doesn’t take the screw head off. Dunno how I managed without one all these years.

It can undo screws and bolts (although the screws will have to be fairly deep cut if they are slot ones as the bits are pretty thick. I plan to file one of the bits down to allow me to us it on smaller screws.

Why 4 stars? The system of reversing it seems a bit iffy but I’m sure most of us will buy it to undo screws/bolts and it seems to be in that mode already. You needs this tool believe me!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis product was in line for a 5* rating, but for the guidance leaflet itself. This reviewer [and a third party] considered that this leaflet could have been better worded. Still, it didn’t take long to figure out which way was forward and reverse.
When in action, it was very successful in removing some ancient woodscrews from a fascia when all else had failed. At least the wood was very sound…and there’s something quite therapeutic about bashing the correct tool with with a hammer!

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersReally effective tool. When screws just won’t budge this clever tool takes them out. I had an old garden gate to be replaced. The screws were all rusted away and I couldn’t manage to remove any of them with a screwdriver. When I used the impact screwdriver it took seconds. Worth its weight in gold. The whole set is well made and appears to be very durable.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersOne of the best tools I have bought recently. I wish I had acquired one a long time ago as it would have saved a great deal of angst. It is a solid well made and robust tool and performs well, but gloves are required when using it to prevent blisters! There is a comprehensive range of ends and the square drive allows it to be used with a socket set and, when necessary, an extension bar.

Golden Review Award: 3 From Our UsersThis impact driver comes with all the various scewdriver bits and some sockets all contained in a metal case.
The device is preety straight forward to use. The instructions are harder to understand then the indications on the impact driver. You need to know if you want the tip to trun left or right when you strike it and this is clearly marked on the tool.
The interchangeable bits are easy to change.
It did the job I needed it to which was to undo a screw who’s head had rounded.

Golden Review Award: 8 From Our UsersI needed an impact screwdriver due to a screw that even a mains-powered drill couldn’t shift – even when I could feel the heat coming off the motor the screw just wasn’t shifting.

So an impact screwdriver was the last ditch attempt to turn the screw before giving up and replacing the broken appliance. Hence one of these arrived.

The instructions are a little confusing at first in terms of exactly which way around everything is supposed to go (i.e. whether the screw is to go in or come out), and I found a few times the force of hitting it changed the direction of drive. I also broke a #3 Pozidrive bit, which Amazon replaced very quickly under warranty.

It does the job, and seems to do it well, and aside from the minor niggles above I rate it highly.
