Purchased as needed to control amount of food consumed as part of my new health regime. Easy to set up nice compact size just right for me. So far so good
I recetly gave this kitche scale a one star review ad reading the other reviews of the same level it seems that my complaint was not unsual ie wildly inaccurate weighing.
I received a message from the company apologising and offering to replace my set of scales, an offer which I accepted, as i dislike giving low reviews but I really had no choice in this case though I did wonder if I had been sent a dud.
New scales arrived and I have used them a lot in the last two days to test them out and make sure they are working and are accurate. I have weighed the ingredients for the same cake I baked before when the weights were off the scale. This time all is well and with other things also.
So I am happy to edit my original review which I leave below as it seems to chime with other customers but thank the company for their customer service
A nice neat kitchen scale bought to replace an old one. Clear instructions etc nothing to complain about. But I soon found that the measurements and weights were wildly out. I was making a sponge cake the other day and it told me I had only put 4 oz butter on the scales when my eyes told me there was much more. I dragged out my old fashioned, large scales which then confirmed my eyes and I had 8 oz butter.
Reset scales, went back to the digital and tried again, this time with flour. I put 1lb of flour on the scale as an experiment and it came back as 2 ozs. all other ingredients were also wildly out of balance.
The scales were new and so were the batteries which were supplied by the seller.
I tested it over and over again with different items and the weight was wrong every single time. Now I may have been unlucky and just got a dud one but it has now been returned and I am back to using my good old well used scales which may not look beautiful and may take up space, but are accurate.
This is the second Duronic scales I have bought, I have to admit the first are still working well but require flat batteries x2 this new one AA ‘s. The reason I bought replacement standby is very occasionally misbehaves and my husband is “suggesting ” he cleans the ” insides” I don’t want to be left without scales!
Met my expectations. Easy to use and clean. Nice that you can add in additional ingredients and change metrics along the way. For instance you add granola in gramms and then change to ml and add liquid.
I love the blue color and have used it without reading the manual so well designed product. The only issue I have had is that when I put a big bowl on top, it can be hard to read the screen at a low angle but you can if you move around a bit. Very happy with the purchase.
Fantastic mini-scale, this is the second time I’ve bought one now (left the other back home, owned and used for three years) and as far as I remember it only glitched once in all those years. The new one is a cool blue, which was a pleasant surprise!! Would definitely recommend
First of all, let me just say that I never thought I would be reviewing a kitchen scale. Nevertheless, here I am, and it’s simply because this product is so good, it really deserves all the good reviews it can get.
This scale has been brilliant so far! Here’s why: it is very accurate in its measures (I have weighed all sorts of ingredients for baking purposes, both dry and liquid, and the small scale immediately detects weight changes (even the tiniest amounts!). The other (and rather unexpected) reason why I am so impressed with this scale, is that my other half managed to drench the scale in water by placing wet dishes on top of it. The scale suffered water damage as it would not switch on after the incident, and there were visible air bubbles forming thanks to water-buildup inside of the display screen. Nonetheless, the next day, the scale worked. And it still works brilliantly!
Look no further for a great scale at a bargain price. It comes well packaged, is small and easy to stow away, and is perfect for weighing ingredients and parcels alike.
Please let me know if you found my review helpful by indicating below. Thanks for reading!
Been in use for 1 and half years now and still works fine. Good slim compact design and value for money. Illuminated display is clear and allows using in the dark. No issues so far.
So good, I genuinely bought it twice. Lightweight yet sturdy, this little scale is a perfect addition to the kitchen. I bought this one to avoid the hassle of another non-digital scale and it is possibly the easiest thing to use ever. Now, you can become a whizz in the kitchen with even less effort. Say goodbye to uneven measurements, and say hello to the ability to tare off weights as you cook.
Easy to clean, extremely quick to use, all in all a very worthwhile investment.
Well designed item, the digital display is clear and easy to read. Scale can be zero’d after its been switched on so you can weigh items in containers etc.
Choice of different measurements removed the need to have several different sets of scales.
Scales have a sleek and appealing design with an easy to clean surface.
Scale takes AAA batteries (a lot easier to source than the tiny little round ones!) and these were provided in the packaging, which was much appreciated.
Delivered on time and well packed, nice replacement for my old (different make) that eventually failed. Suggestions….. nice if it was slightly more generous in the length and breadth as its slightly difficult to see the display when trying to tare with a large diameter bowl, and my previous one had clock/timer which was useful – I guess a slightly better manual would be good too. Would I buy another, absolutely yes (although I’ve only had it a week or so, so hope it doesn’t fail now!!!
I got these to replace some Salter scales which no longer worked when I tried to insert a new battery. I don’t understand some of the answered questions above, I wonder if some people are talking about a different product. Mine came well packaged in polystyrene which had 2 AAA batteries in it. In my view this is much better than a scale with lithium batteries as they can be hard to obtain, expensive and don’t last long. I love these scales, they are very slim and easy to store away. Ideal for me because I need accurate weights of all my food for dieting. I use whatever bowl I’m using and keep adding items, you can zero each time. You can also just place small items directly on the scale. You can choose metric or imperial weights. Time will tell if they last longer than the Salter ones, but so far I’m very pleased. They were less than a third of the price I paid for Salter too ! One reviewer said they are huge ? They are not.
Spent ages trying to find a decent replacement for a set of morphy Richards which were awful from the start. Always bought a label, usually salter but these are probably my favourite yet. They take normal batteries for a start, can be easily turned on and off, very small compared to all previous but big enough to be perfectly functional. Quick reset, easy to switch ltrs to grams to oz, precise and no fluctuations. Cheap as chips. Worth it.
I am very sceptical for a product like this for 7.99 and free delivery with prime. It’s tiny a little stainless masterpiece, about the size of an ipad. These scales weigh in grams, ounces and ml. For years we have had an old fasioned set of scales with ounce weights on top of the kitchen cupboards which i think came from a boot sale. I was determined to prove these scales wrong…but it wasnt to be. I set it to ounces and weighed all the little weights i had. The scales were spot on every time. But the biggest bonus is the saving on cupboard space compared to old fasioned scales.
Great little scale, perfect for my kitchen. Love that I can switch from oz to g. Only complaint is that it can sometimes be difficult to turn off, and the screen freezes (very rarely) – easily fixed by popping out the batteries and popping them back in again.
I am super pleased with these smart little scales. They arrived well packaged and with the metallic weighing surface protected by peel off plastic (there aren’t blue – it’s the protective film!). I am using them to measure biscuits for the cat who is on a diet and they are extremely responsive to small changes of weight so would also be good for weighing for the post. The display is bright and clear and they are easy to clean and to store. My only reservation is that because they are small I wonder whether a large mixing bowl would obscure the display if you were using them for cooking but as that is not what I am using them for, I don’t know. In any case, there would be ways round this and I think they would be hard to beat for the price – a third of what I paid for Salter cooking scales a few weeks ago and apart from size these are miles better.
I have had these scales a while now. Very compact, so can be tucked out of sight. However, as they are so small, you need to balance things on it in such a way, just so that you can read the digital screen. Hence 4 stars rather than 5. BUT. Do you want compact hideaway or not so? I can still balance an A4 sized envelope on their and (just about) see the weight.
Really happy with these bad boy scales, perfect size for a small kitchen, comfortable tucks away in any nook or cranny you may have.
Super simple to operate, works a-OK, and was able to fit through my letterbox. Boom!
One thing that wasn’t clear to me at time of purchase was that the scale would have a blue brushed metallic finish. It’s nothing too bold, and I like it, but I was expecting a steel finish. May be worth checking beforehand if this is not your thang.
I had the chance to try this scale today after i bought it i had to do a mix of powder, water and oil and every one in a different quantity i had tried that before without a scale and it was a disaster but today i mesured the quantity using this scale and it was a total success, the mix was amazing and correct in all ways, the scale is precise and the tare functionality is very good and a necessity it allowed me to use different cups to weight my products and mix ingrediants, the unit functinality is helpful when mesuring liquid quantities and for recepies that doesnt come with normal mesuring units. This scale is very good and its small and light weight can be hidden any where in the kitchen and dint take big space.
I recomend this scale to every one and you wont loose
Arrived in lightening fast speed. Very well packaged and very easy to set up. As others have said the footprint is quite small so with a large bowl you will not be able to see the display. The display however is very bright. I would recommend switching off manually after each use rather than wait for it to power down automatically as it seems to stay on for quite a long time and may be the reason for battery drain as some have commented on. On balance I’m very happy with the item and left wondering how on earth do they make any money selling this at such a low price
Well deserves 4 stars, great product and great price!
Not 5* because scale doesn’t stay on until task is complete (auto-off feature is always activated) and also would have preferred a separate on/off button for better/quick ease of use.
Great great product however, I highly recommend. Last but not least it has quite the finish!
(Been using for about 1 month).
Arrived promptly. It’s smaller than I thought it would be but it does the job so that’s what’s important.
I bought one from Lidl serveral years ago which was much bigger and therefore more versatile. The only reason I had to replace it is because I dropped it into water by accident. This one will do for now but will be repalced with one from Lidl as soon as they have one on offer.
Some of the best food scales out there for the price. Accurate and reliable and easy on the batteries (I have still yet to change mine and I have used the thing everyday for months!). Could do with a slightly bigger weighing area for some foods but this is more of a nitpick and by placing a plate on top can solve this problem, also keeps the unit cleaner. They look great in the kitchen with a very nice appearance that will complement most choices of kitchen design, I tend to leave mine out on the side and they look fine. The unit is nice and compact while still carrying out its function very well even providing multiple units (g, ml, oz) which is a great feature.
Arrived on time and promptly
Looks and feels like a good quality product, packaged well and the face of the scale has a plastic cover that you peel off to reveal the shiny metal surface underneath.
Was surprised to see it had batteries included and was very easy to use. Couldn’t ask for more from a kitchen scale.
Looks smart and we’ll go well in a well designed modern kitchen due to its slim and metallic looks.
Give it the thumbs up.
It is very slim, looks great and does the job. Tare function is easy to use. The reason I give 4 instead of 5 is that I wish the display was more at an angle: works great for bowls, but if you put a plate on it, you can’t read the display any more.
I would have probably given this scale 5 stars if I hadn’t had a Salter of similar type.
The buttons are OK to respond, has tare function (so you can put a bowl on top and add and add and add ingredients), and the display is backlit.
Good build, but nothing outstanding.
One issue I have is that when the battery starts to run out you don’t see the indicator until the battery is almost flat, however the scale starts to give you inaccurate readings, sometimes out as much as 2-3 gramms.
Also – if you want to use this as a postal scale for small items you will be annoyed by the fact that the scale needs a couple of seconds to settle at the final weight. The salter ones are instant
Hope this helps anyone
I am really enjoying this product. It’s very easy to use and very accurate in the reading.
I love that it has a backlit display, and it’s really accurate. I was worried when I saw some reviews saying that it gave a different reading at every use. I am using the same plate to weigh my food every day, and so far it always comes up with the same reading (I’ve been using the scale for about 2 weeks every day now).
Arrived quickly and well packaged, with batteries included (standard AAAs so they won’t be hard to replace once run out).
Very good value for money!
Received this 2 days before it was due so well pleased. Nicely boxed by Duronic and good protective packing by Amazon. It’s very compact and sleek and pleasing on the eye. (About the size of a kindle – perhaps a bit smaller). I will keep the protective sticky cellophane on for as long as I can; you know the stuff you get on a new mobile phone screen that you don’t want to remove until absolutely necessary! Batteries were supplied and the readout is excellent with options of mls/ lbs&ozs/Kgs&gms. This will also be useful for weighing mail. Just need to put some sort of plastic container on top and then add small package on top of that to weigh and be able to see read out. I don’t need anything whizz bang or mega, just weighing basic flour, sugar etc and this suits me fine in small household. I keep this in a cupboard and it doesn’t take up any room at all. For 7.99, I think it is a bargain and aesthetically pleasing. I don’t know how long it will last, but for just occasional use I am happy and would recommend it.
Impressed with these scales. No problems after months of use, and they appear to be very accurate. Easy to switch from ml/g/oz, and to zero between additions of ingredients. Simple operation and just need a wipe clean. I have had these for some months and haven’t needed to change the batteries yet. My only minor gripe is that they turn themselves off quite quickly, so if you are in the middle of adding an ingredient to a bowl and have to hunt in a cupboard for something, they’ll have probably turned off and they’ll need turning back on again before adding the new ingredients. Once or twice i’ve forgotten to hit the ‘on’ button when this has happened without me realising, and so I’ve not been able to measure how much has been going in because the scales have been off. My fault, perhaps, but having them stay ‘on’ for a bit longer before automatic switch off would be useful.
Bought these to measure out my puppies meals.
Found them ideal. I measure his fed into tupperware style plastic containers.
If you put the container on the scales before you with them on – then the weight of the container is ignored.
You can choose to weigh in grams, fluid ounces, pounds or milli-litres.
It will measure as low as just one gram. Although the accuracy improves a little for higher weighings.
Can weigh up to 5kg or 11 pounds.
Great value!
Automatically switches itself off to preserve battery life (came with batteries) lest you forget to switch them off.
I bought this because I thought it was about time I had a kitchen scale instead of faffing around with conversions from cups to grams every time I follow a recipe with weight measures. This was just the thing, thin and easy to put away, but nice and sleek so that it sits nicely on the counter.
I love the backlit read-out, and it seems to be fairly accurate so far. It’s also great for the price! Sadly, sometimes it does switch off mid-measure if you leave it alone too long between, say, a bag of flour running out and opening a new one. This can be annoying, but it doesn’t happen very often. Still a winner for me.
Clean lines easy to store. Takes 2 AAA batteries so cheaper to replace than my old set with button batteries that cost over 5 off market. Display easy to read but quite slow to respond. The labelling on the buttons could be much less discrete! Seems fairly accurate. The zeroing facilty is useful for adding ingredients straight into the mixing bowl saving either maths or washing up!
These are actually really nice looking and come well secured in tight-fitting foam surround and thick cardboard box. Duronic is at the cheap and cheerful end of kitchen goods but TBH I’ve had nothing but good gear from them, including two of their blenders and a few extra blender jugs, all of which I used in my coffee shop for over two years so they had much tougher than standard domestic usage! This little scale is used at home for weighing coffee beans accurately and for weighing stuff I use to bake bread. Very simple to use, pretty standard operation for these kinds of scales, and seem very accurate. I’m 100% happy so save some money and grab yourself a set.
Very Impressive scales considering they were cheap!
I like the style, inspired by IPAD I must say! (same size as a mini IPAD)
The display lights up well and the weighing is very…VERY accurate!
Great thing is that they also switch off automatically when not used after about 2 mins, I am not sure what the battery life is like but they came with batteries included – which was a nice touch for the price!
Tare and other functions work as intended – great cheap product for those who are in the kitchen alot like me!
I bought these scales for myself because my old ones were starting to fade. It was getting harder to see the numbers on it. The bowl had broken a long time ago. These new scales are very light and small, so they do not take up much space on my worktop. When I weigh something, I put a small lightweight container on the scales for the weighed item to go in it. Then deduct how much the container weighs from the item that is being actually weighed. It works very well.
Only had this product for a short time but so far I am very happy with these scales. I like the add & zero function on them and where some other revues have complained about scales turning off after a set time I have not found this to be a problem. I usually have all my ingredients to hand before i start weighing them but if I need to go searching for something (or answer the phone lol) it is a simple matter to remove bowl off scales turn on replace bowl then re-zero scales and add next item,
Just a case now of how long scales last, if they burn out or break down to quick I will report back..
ot very precise can get up to +/-2g
looks very nice and even has a back light, 2 AAA batteries are supplied, but better get new ones, who knows how long they have been in the box.
For best readings must be used on a hard, flat, clean surface.
It measures in grams, oz, ml (based on water density meaning 1ml = 1g) and lb.
I just bought it as a small xmas present for my girlfriend as she loves to bake and always wanted one, i hope she will be happy with it.
just have to remove the “made in china” sticker before gift wrapping it.
Got this yesterday, used it for baking. It works well, looks good and comes with batteries! I was happy with the sensitivity, and the tare function is useful. It’s also quite slim, good for storage.
The only downside is the smallish size. If you’re adding ingredients to a large-ish bowl sitting on the scales, it can be tricky to see the display. As it happens, my bowl has a little flat cutaway section to stand it on its side, so it wasn’t a problem for me, but it’s something to be aware of.
These are a really fantastic little set of scales – easy to use, very lightweight and I’ve found them to be extremely accurate. They come with the batteries (always a plus) and since these are just AA they won’t be expensive to replace. The scales themselves are small, so if you’re using a big bowl or plate you’ll need to position it carefully to not obscure the display, which is bright and easy to read. I’ve had other Duronic scales in the past and they’ve stopped working after 8 months, so I’m hoping these don’t do the same, but for the moment I’m very pleased.
Having struggled by with some traditional type scales for years, with its imperial weights, I needed something more accurate and reliable. Having read the reviews I found this product at a great price and meeting my needs. It arrived promptly in its compact package. It was even smaller than I expected but only aids its easy storage – you could pop it in your cutlery drawer ! Battery life is good with batteries cheap and easily accessible at low cost. put your bowl or any container suitable to hold the item you wish to weigh on the scales then switch them on. The weight of the container is then ignored. You can chose from oz, ml, grms, even mid weighing. Due to their compact size you just need to chose your container to put your ingredients in carefully so you dont end up covering the digital screen showing the weight. display is very clear. scales weigh down to 0.01 of oz / 1grm so they are very accurate. I use them to even weight letters which may be too heavy for the standard 1st class post. I pop them down the side of the cupboard making them easily accessible. They are really great. Just remember, they do switch of automatically after about 30 seconds which is good as it saves the battery, but I dont find it a problem what so ever. cant recommend them enough
So I got a request to review this in my inbox. The scales were a Christmas present for my friend (she requested it, I’m not that boring. And she got other stuff too!). So as I have no personal experience with the item, I have asked her for her opinion and she had the following to say:
“Have tried scales btw, they seem good. 🙂 At least it said my slice of bread was 35 grams and that’s what a slice usually is.”
So I have learnt something new (what a slice of bread weighs in Norway)! Anyway. I hope this is a satisfactory review for the the seller, tho I guess it’s not that helpful for any future buyers. Apologies!
Bought this to replace old scales that had died. For the price this is a great product and is perfect for my needs; I use it mainly for measuring ingredients for baking. The only slight fault I find is that the display disappears quite quickly, so if you are adding ingredients to a bowl, you need to have them to hand so that there is a minimum pause between additions.
Used this for a couple of weeks and does all as advertised. It looks really good too and is very small so easy to store. There is one slight downside if you are weighing something and you leave the scales for too long then they switch off. I think it is about 60 seconds, but as long as you are organised this is not a major negative.
