Purchased this item mid-July 2023, however, when I received it, it didn’t work. Contacted the seller the following day (it was an evening delivery) and they’ve sorted everything out and replaced it. Replacement works perfectly. Many thanks to Eric Hill for sorting everything out.

I bought this to measure the temperature of my wood pellet pizza oven, seems to work well. Also works as a laser pointer if you want to taunt your cat (don’t shine in your pet’s eyes).

The Infrared Thermometer I’ve been using has exceeded my expectations in several aspects. Its backlit display makes temperature reading effortless, even in low-light environments. The device is impressively responsive, delivering quick and accurate temperature measurements. Its sturdy construction and sleek case ensure durability and convenient storage. On a fun note, the laser pointer feature adds a playful twist to interacting with my dog, making our playtime more enjoyable.

No complaints on what I recieved and how it works. I got mine in January but when I ordered one for my brother as a gift (this week – March 2023) it came without a carry case.

Easy to use. Just be sure you read up on the process this device is based on to ensure you get consistent readings. Seem well made and had no problem with battery compartment.

This is an easy point and press temperature reader. I bought it to try and balance my radiator pipes. I found the temperature would fluctuate quite a bit if I took several readings. Tried to get a difference of 12C between each pipe. Found it could vary by several degrees on each reading. So not that accurate for the balancing radiators.

Golden Review Award: 13 From Our UsersSo, is this ERICKHILL Digital Infrared Thermometer accurate? I borrowed one of my company’s FLUKE-62 MAX thermometers for comparison. The answer is yes. The ERICKHILL was never more than 0.5 degrees Celsius or 0.8 degrees Fahrenheit away from the Fluke-62 reading. The build quality of the ERICKHILL is as good as you could want for domestic use, and the device itself is a very smart looking meter with non of the silly garish colours you see from other manufacturers. The display is clear, bright and very easy to read. The laser is very bright and you can easily use the thermometer in bright light. Like the Fluke, the ERICKHILL has multiple emissivity settings, I changed both while testing the thermometer. Certainly for my needs, the ERICKHILL has every feature I want. It has an air temperature mode, for checking my air conditioner, and a low/high mode with audible alarm. This feature was actually why I purchased the thermometer. The manufacturer of my carpet cleaning machine is very! specific about the temperature range of the water you can add to the clean water tank for greatest cleaning efficiency. With the ERICKHILL set up I can confidently fill the machine water tank, knowing for certain that the water in the tank is neither too hot nor too cold. It takes all the guesswork out of the equation. The meter returns a reading very quickly and will hold the reading for several seconds, backlight on. The meter also has continuous reading while the trigger is pulled, which is very handy for checking your central heating radiators from bottom to top, for identifying radiators that require air bleeding. The final plus for the ERICKHILL is the carry case. It is a good quality, semi-rigid case, that protects the meter, whilst also acting as a trigger guard, to prevent the meter from being accidentally activated in a toolbox. I cannot think of a single weak point of the ERICKHILL. It has all the most useful features, variable emissivity, good build quality and a good protective case. Just as long as you do not think of it as a replacement for a ‘proper’ industrial infrared thermometer like the Fluke-62. The Fluke meter I used for comparison is in a different league of build quality to the ERICKHILL. The Fluke is designed for long service life in harsh environments and is sealed against moisture and dust. It can also be dropped from heights that would cripple the ERICKHILL. But for domestic use, the ERICKHILL is, in my opinion, perfect.

Golden Review Award: 4 From Our UsersAt this price, one cannot expect laboratory reference instrument, naturally.
However, even compared to much more expensive devices, it can adjust the emissive coefficient – thus, based on known data or the data table included in the user guide, one can get more accurate readings than in the case of fixed (usually 0.95) emissive coefficient. This is a key reason, even in case of reliable instruments, why some report inaccuracy – the emissivity of some materials/surfaces can be radically different compared to the default 0.95 some devices have as preset.
The calibration feature is also a plus, compared to way more expensive devices. Admittedly I have not tested the min and max temperature warnings, but those are a purely software feature.
I was a bit sceptical about the continuous measurement, but it performed nicely on areas of external walls. Without a calibrated other instrument to compare with in exact same conditions, the data one gets from this looks plausible and correlates with the areas of colder/warmer parts whilst scanning the surface.
So quite pleasantly surprised, small extras like the ability to turn off the LED pointer, the automatic shut-off after short period of not being in use etc. are neat.

Golden Review Award: 2 From Our UsersYou aren’t paying for a piece of lab grade equipment. It’s not going to be 100% accurate.

It has worked pretty good for what I needed it for though.

It seems to go through batteries very fast.
