Easy to set up. Easy to maintain. Easy to program.
My daughter has affectionately named it “Eugene”.
Using the simple to setup Eufy App, the robovac is set to clean areas at certain times of the day.
Great vac for picking up and maintaining the whole of the downstairs wooden floor area….even contends easily with rugs. Really pleased.
A friend swears by hers, so we bought one. It’s perfect on our open plan wood floor downstairs. We are amazed at the cracking job it does daily, keeping the dust down and removing general day to day debris. So we decided to give it a go upstairs on the carpet. Wow! You wouldn’t believe how much it picked up. All I did was carry it upstairs and press play, leaving it to its own devices knowing it won’t fall down the stairs.
It cleans downstairs daily on a pre programmed timer, and upstairs three or four times a week.
We are very happy with it, money well spent.
Ps. When I empty it, I use a 1″ brush to clean the dirt box and the filter. Then I simply put it on the floor and press home, and it finds its own way to the charging point.
These are fantastic – this is the newer model so more power. You can use the app to setup schedules or just set it off from anywhere.
Works great on hard floors and carpet and great for pet hair and getting under sofas etc.
Was hesitating for a while over a robot vacuum, I’ve got a Dyson which I use generally but this has saved so much time with general cleaning, it’s set on a schedule and I let it do its thing. Is generally will fill up the bin every other day.
Don’t hesitate just buy it!
Cleans very well, communicates better than my better half sometimes and the cat doesn’t completely hate it. Seriously though, it’s a godsend. You can program it to clean at certain times, has multiple suction levels. Makes my rugs look good as new and you can check out what replacements you need to get and when. Highly impressed with this little vac
I had put off getting a robovac, but like Anker products and this was a bargain. Very impressed with the setup. It mapped a very complex and cluttered ground floor very well. and filled the dust container first pass so clearly more effective than the vac we have been using. Fits neatly hidden under the TV unit and so has to be called and returned using Alexa with works just great.
I love this product . I have very messy birds so constantly cleaning up and this does the job perfect .
Down load the app and you can program it and also operate it from app . So you don’t even need to be home to clean .
Holds a decent amount of rubbish too and recharges back at its base
Bought this in 2019 and had a problem with the battery but Eufy customer service replaced the unit without any fuss. I’ve had the it for 4 years now and it’s still working well. Good for dog hair.
Not the smartest when instructed to return to base. But in main it’s been good and am very pleased to have it. It hoovers up most the visible debris and does a good job. Does move items around on the floor like boxes. So be prepared things not being where u expect. Handles carpet/ laminate/ rug well.
It is great that I can control this from my phone as well as on the device itself and also set a schedule so the vacuuming is always done. It can be left alone to get on with the job when we go out and it finds its way home on its own.
The self empty feature is cool as you only need to do it once in a while. We have kids and a dog and set to clean every morning and have to empty it about once every 6 weeks.
It works well on the carpet in the lounge and the hard flooring in the rest of the downstairs. It is pretty quiet and doesn’t bother the dog – he had a good sniff at the beginning and the decided that it wasn’t worth his time.
The bags are pretty cheap to replace as they can be ordered on Amazon in packs of 6 for 17.99, but the replacement kit with the brushes and filters feels a bit expensive, other brands are available for less, but I couldn’t comment on their quality.
It has made us ensure that we don’t leave any cables on the ground as these can get chewed.
They cost, but they do just remove a chore.
Put it to work it’s good on hard floor powerful enough to go over a lip very impressed to get it going got to have charger plugged in and button on bottom of unit switch on, to return to docking station use remote control.
I bought in prime day whit Alexa echo and they work perfectly together.
Climb easy a small step between living room and kitchen (laminate to tiles) and never run out battery, even the capacity of the basket is not so big.
I’m loving this – if you find hoovering laborious and mind numbing this might just be the thing for you. I’m pretty impressed with the job it’s done in a few minutes of lifting odd crumbs of the floor, it might not entirely replace a vacuum cleaner as it can’t get to corners etc but it will help keeping on top of the cleaning during the week. Less crumbs then less spread of dirt too and that means less and quicker vacuum clean when I do get round to it. Does get stuck in places like under the sofa and you need to ensure there aren’t wires and things that it could get caught in, bumps off furniture with ease. Of course I won’t tell guests I have one of these – let them think I’m naturally tidy! Of course it can’t tidy like one would when they vacuum – so sofas still need vacuuming etc but at least the floor is crumb free.
For the price it’s great! “Dusty Bob” does a great job of cleaning our house. Also doubles as a babysitter as my kid will spend ages just following it around the house.
Firstly – make sure it has the box to suck the dust from the vacuum like the G40+, it makes a huge difference.
We have two kids and this just helps massively, really easy to move between floors. Cleans under the sofa, and bed with ease.
Really good coverage.
Once you have one you won’t go back.
I have two collie dogs who shed a lot of hair and tiled floors ,if you use it almost every day it’s sorted. no more hair tufts hiding in corners or under the sofa!
This is such a great machine. It’s easy to set up: download the app and turn it on: it maps the room itself and just pops off to clean the floor. Limits are deep pile carpet but it will easily climb light rugs. Daily maintenance to empty it out and get hair out the brushes is easy and better than hoovering every day (we have a hairy cat and dog). Love this produc
My son dropped my Roomba and I didn’t replace it because it was so expensive and I could hardly ever use it these days because it was so noisy and everyone got tired of the noise. After reading reviews I decided to buy a eufy and I couldn’t be happier. It’s quiet, it doesn’t get stuck everywhere, it does a great job. It’s going to make my life much easier.
Absolutely brilliant little machine, goes round the downstairs at 9pm and does a great job, can’t call it a down fall as it obviously means it’s doing it’s job but it does need emptying every 1-2 days, which only take about 2 mins.
Eufy was recommended by a friend and I’d been thinking of purchasing one for a while. This was very easy to set up (though we had issues with connecting to the internet initially, but got it sorted out in the end). We’d just done the hoovering but wanted to see what the Eufy could do. The machine is so quiet I thought i’d put it on the wrong setting. However, when i checked the dust collector, I was amazed to see that it was full! Even the dog isnt bothered by the vacuum.
We have it set for once a day cleaning, so the floors are always clean.
Highly recommended!
It’s been a few weeks now and all is good.
Impressed of how the g40+ makes its way around obstacles.
We have mainly a tiled floor with the odd may / rug and the g40+ does well on all surfaces.
The map on the app freezes after a while, but the robot still carries on until the job is done.
For the price, a good purchase
Really pleased with this purchase. I was sceptical about buying one but when the prime day deals were on, I decided to go for it. It has literally changed my life. I have a child, cat and dog. Usually I would hoover every other day but ideally it needs more.. I am able to set the vacuum on a timer when everyone is in bed to clean up downstairs and we come down to a clean house every morning. I loved this so much, I now purchased a robotic mop which I set a timer to mop after the hoover is done. Needless to say, hours each week has now been saved meaning I can spend it with my family instead of constantly cleaning! Would recommend!!
I was sceptical about this device after using cheaper ones in the past but this is game changer
Great vacume suction and throughly cleans the house as much as some other hand held hoovers!
Saves us so much time and is quiet enough that the dog doesn’t bark at it! Which he does at the big hoove
We bought this mainly to just keep on top of the short hairs our beagle drops. I have it scheduled to run every weekday morning and each day it is picking up a fist-sized amount of hair as well as some dust and debris. The house feels cleaner all the time now – I would still intend to give the house a proper hoover once a week to get into the corners Eufy can’t get to, but for what we wanted it for it’s fantastic!
Additional notes – On standard it is really very quiet – I can have it running while I’m working and it doesn’t disturb me, I’ve turned it up a setting now and it’s still pretty quiet. Occasionally it struggles to find its way home, but I think that’s more to do with where I’ve put the charging station. It’s no great hassle once or twice a week to pick it up and guide it home once it has finished!
I really wasn’t sure how useful this would be, and wondered if it was just a gimmick. But after a few weeks of use I’m sold! It does a great job of keeping the place clean, running overnight. It’s very quiet and doesn’t disturb me, and generally does a great job.
It’s fairly basic in features, sometimes forgetting that it’s done an area and going over it again, but better that than missing spots I guess! It’s pretty good and path finding, but of course has times where it goes around in circles like an idiot! Low profile gets under sofas etc., so that’s also a big plus. No way to set off limits areas, so you need to physically block off places you don’t want it to go, I have a few bits of wood that the devices bumper can contact to redirect it.
Overall I’m very pleased with it, I haven’t needed to vacuum the old fashioned way since I got i
I was a bit sceptical about purchasing a robot hoover, but I am seriously impressed with how much pet hair, dust and other muck it’s picking up!
Purchased on Prime Day sale, so saved a fair bit, but I would have been happy to pay full price as it’s a great bit of kit.
To my astonishment, this gadget works. My kitchen/dining room has a very complex structure, but this robot handled it and returned to its charger. I wish I had bought 3 more (complex house) at the amazon prime day price. I can not comment on cleaning hair, and I doubt Alexa integration is a problem. I will get to that tomorrow
Cleaner really does very well, even managed to get itself on-top of the dog bed and clean it, get itself “stuck” and then unstick itself. Very very impressed so far. Pepsi the dog (see video) doesn’t seem too upset by it either, and the noise level is very low, so great.
Wifi setup in the app was very easy, although it did require me to manually switch to the Wifi network of the hoover and then back to my normal wifi due to Android permissions issues. Maybe Anker/Eufy can work on that in a future version to make it easy for a non-tech-savvy user to setup easily?
I was a bit dubious about ordering this to robovac G40. Having read the reviews and getting a good price on Prime day I went for it. So happy I did. Not too technical but once I downloaded the correct App it was easy to follow the instructions and connect to my internet. After the first clean (a tad haphazzard) it seemed to map my carpets and work out what to do. This morning it woke up at 6.30 and did a sweep of our main living area and kitchen. Fabulous- fairly quiet didn’t disturb us. My cat hates it though it does a good job of removing his fur, and the carpets and tiles look good. I empty it after each use as only small dust container, but I like that it’s clean and ready to go. Very pleased with this purchase.
Purchased this robot vacuum in Prime day after looking at them for a while. I can’t believe how amazing it is. It covers the entire house and gets into every single bot of the floor that isn’t obstructed. The auction and brushed collect every bit of dust and dog hair and it has no problems navigating over my rugs and the door thresholds between different height floors.
Intergrated with Alexa no problem at all.
I would highly recommend this model, it does everything I wanted and more. After cleaning it returns to its dock to charge. Another amazing product from a trusted brand like Anker.
Loved how are you can schedule it from your phone to do it automatically and through Alexa. Three speed setting is very handy. Although this one doesn’t mop. It does a really good job of our flooring and carpets.. has got stuck once or twice trying to go under the sofa, but apart from that I’d give it an 8 out of 10. It’s undoubtedly saved us extra time hoovering and will notify you if stock etc. You’ll be mega surprised how much dust it collects when you go to empty the container underneath. Defiantly would recommend.
So good can’t believe it
We just turn her up on auto 100 minutes we have an open plan lounge / kitchen dinner so she does a great job mop less too !
I live in a bunglow so when I put her to work from the hallway just wedge the door open !
The box is always full and I empty every time !
Filter easy to clean was in really good and it come with another one
We have hard floor and rug and dogs so she got her job cut out
Would definitely recommend this hoover *****
Thought I’ve write and end-of-life review.
We’ve had our RoboVac 30C, aka Randy Floorgardener, for a month shy of 3 years. He’s out Monday to Friday inclusive, over roughly three years which is approx 780 sorties, and running for a little over 1.5 hours per sortie, is nearly 1200 hours of operation. During that time, we’ve rarely had to sweep our 40m concrete floor and quite frankly, he’s done a great job of cleaning up after a fairly messy family of four in our very busy open plan kitchen/dining area that also opens up to back garden – lots of foot traffic, mess and activity.
He’s had various replacement brushes and filters, and I’ve also replaced his battery for one with slightly higher mAh after the old one died. He’s now fairly slow, and generally falters with drop sensor alerts as soon as he comes out of his charging station, plus his front wheel falls off and he spends a lot of time reversing in some sort of panic. Anyway, time for a replacement, but I’d say that we’ve been very satisfied with the quality of cleaning, and general reliability over the years. We’re going to replace him with the model up.
RIP Randy.
Bought this last year after my sister raves about it. It is really good but to be honest, it’s just much quicker to hoover. For anyone with health issues who struggles to hoover it’s brilliant but I find by the time it manoeuvres round chair and table legs etc it takes ages and I just prefer to hoover.
I am updating this review and changing my rating from a 1 star to a 5. Following my initial frustrations with the Robovac when it wouldn’t connect to the wifi and having returned it to Amazon, customer service at Eufy got in touch and offered me the opportunity to try another G40+. I (slightly hesitantly) agreed – I was a bit worried we would experience the same issues, but thought it was worth another try. Eufy expedited delivery and the new one arrived quickly. I am delighted to report it works perfectly and I am really pleased with it. I do appreciate their customer service team persevering and the speed with which they provided the replacement.
Earlier Review:
I ordered the Eufy G40 + last week and was very excited to receive it. Set up at first seemed simple and I downloaded the app easily. Unfortunately it wouldn’t connect to the wifi and therefore wouldn’t work. I had noted previous reviews about difficulty connecting and so looked at a few trouble shooting videos.
I turned off 5Ghz as requested, turned off mobile data on my phone, ensured precision location was on, tried factory reset, used a mobile hotspot to test … all with the same response ‘Wifi may not be available’.
At this point I contacted Customer Service at Eufy for help, although I have to admit I was starting to get concerned at how complicated the process seemed to be – surely a product like this should just be plug in, download app and off you go…. The robot assistant suggested all the things I had already tried and to send screenshots of the set up process, which I did. I then got another assistant who suggested all the things I had already tried and said I had to film myself doing the set up process. I did this (all of this took a large amount of time and was somewhat frustrating as the video had to be uploaded and sent via separate website) Response emails were limited to one response per day, usually around midday.
Finally, they suggested one more time doing some of the same things I had already tried and then said, if that didn’t work to send it back. They informed me I would have to pay for shipping (they would reimburse later if I sent a screenshot of the receipt) I lost the will to live at this point and thankfully was able to request a refund from Amazon. Such a shame as I was really looking forward to using this product.
I’m not sure my landlord will be happy because my contract says “no pets”, but this one actually cleans up rather than making a mess. I was skeptical as to how good this could really be in keeping my flat clean, but I’ve been fully convinced by this thing. It runs on a schedule and cleans every day for around 100 minutes (often over). It’s very good at getting into tight spaces and even moves things in its way from time to time, like my clothes horse. It did once knock over a fold up chair, but that was kind of my fault for leaving it in a precarious place. The floors of my flat are really clean now and the dust is beginning to subside after several weeks. If you’re a busy professional like me with better things to do than sweep or hoover every day or two, but want a nice, clean space, this is for you. Furthermore, it frees up my time to do other important chores like dusting, mopping, and cleaning the kitchen and bathroom. Really happy with this purchase and that I finally have an obedient pet with a bit of a personality. It’s like a cute, giant, crawling insect with it’s front brushes that look like little wings. I haven’t bothered using it with Alexa, because I have no time or respect for Amazon and definitely don’t want them spying on me, but I’ve heard the integration works well.
As others have mentioned, I spent quite some time considering a robot vacuum, and came close to buying on several occasions before baulking and not pulling the trigger. I wanted something at the lower end of the pricing scale as I didn’t see the point in spending the guts of a grand on a vacuum, but I was hoping to get something that would actually work well. After much deliberation then, I went for this Eufy model, and after a couple of weeks of living with it, I’m pleased to say I seem to have made a good choice.
Sir Bumps-A-Lot lives on the ground floor and has an area of approx. 33-34 square metres to cover. It’s roughly two-thirds carpet and one third vinyl (lino in the kitchen). The initial setup and connection to the wi-fi was quick and painless via the app. The first time he was sent out to clean the area, however, he seemed to be unable to recognise when he had covered everywhere, and kept going until the battery ran low, at which point he slowly headed for home, taking so long I thought he wasn’t going to make it back but he did. That was the only time I watched what he was doing, and although there was a lot of bumping (hence the name) and going in circles, he didn’t get stuck anywhere and successfully negotiated door saddles and several rugs. Since then he has been on a schedule where he comes out in the dead of night twice a week and I wake up to nice clean floors. The time taken to complete the job has come down, so clearly he does learn from each trip. The last time he was out, it took 51 minutes to do the job, almost half the time of the first run when the battery ran out.
Suction appears to be good, the vacuum picks up an impressive (and somewhat disconcerting!) amount of dirt each trip. As the bin is quite small, it needs to be emptied after each jaunt, but that’s a small price to pay. So far, he has proved to be quiet enough not to wake anyone while he goes about his business and has only had one serious wedging incident.
Overall then, and after a relatively short period of ownership, I think I made the right choice and got a device that works well for the price paid. I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship between Sir Bumps and I, long may it continue!
Read updated review part too.
Original review
This seemed to be the perfect replacement for my old Roomba and it is much lower in height. But it has to be connected to the wifi in order to work and my wifi is 5GHz or 2.4GHz and it smartly chooses which is the best one to use for the device.
However no matter what I tried this Eufi would not connect to the my wifi. So I had to send it back.
Disappointing as all the Eufi vacuums are wifi and I don’t trust that any will work now. So will be steering clear of them from now on.
Updated
After my initial review above. Eufy customer services contacted me to find out if they could help with the wifi issues. They were very helpful. Eventually I worked out how to turn off the SmartConnect function on my NetGear router.
Once I did this the Eufy hoover connected straight away. I could then turn SmartConnect back on and it stayed connected.
As you can see from the photo the Eufy is not much smaller in diameter to the Roomba 650 (caveat in all this review, the 650 is old so not really a fair comparison). Though the diameter is roughly the same, the Eufy is marginally lower in height and this makes a big difference as it fits under all the cupboards and the coffee table in our house. The Roomba did not.
I thought the Internet connectivity for the Eufy was a bit of a gimmick – after all why do you need an internet connected hoover? But it turns out it is fairly useful. I like the fact it maps out the rooms it vacuums, the ability to set schedules easily, amend the suction power for each of the scheduled cleans, the ability to start / stop / send it back to charge remotely and gets updated firmware. It is also possible to steer the vacuum from the app – I did this once when it couldn’t find its way back to the dock (lazy, I know, as I could have just picked it up).
The Eufy is quiet, really quiet. Not just the suction motor, but the drive motors and the general movement across the floor. The Roomba rumbles across the floor which can be heard on the floor below (as we have wooden floors). The Eufy makes no movement noise. I have had to check the app before to make sure it had actually cleaned as I was upstairs working and did not hear it at all. This is a real strong point for Eufy.
The app sends push notifications (if you allow) that tell you if it’s stuck, lost, being picked up. So it’s chatty.
It also has a “Find my RoboVac” in the app. I’ve not used this yet but I can see it could be useful. Though I don’t have a big house I have on occasion had to hunt for the Roomba when it’s got stuck. So this could be useful. Eufy, draws a map of the area it’s hoovering in real time so you can always use that to find it if it is stuck.
The return to charge point is much more effective on the Eufy as it marks on the map it’s charge point, then draws the room and obstacles as it goes. So when it finishes or needs to recharge it goes directly there rather than hoping it passes the beam from the docking station (as the Roomba has to do). If you put the Eufy on a different floor to its charge point, it will note it’s start point and return there when it is done.
Some minor niggles with the Eufy:
1. It doesn’t have a carry handle – the Roomba does.
2. Emptying the bin is fiddly and the instructions aren’t clear which big you have to lift. Once you know, you know but it took a few attempts to work it out
This is not meant to be a Roomba v Eufy comparison as my Roomba is at least 8 years old. However new Roomba’s are far more expensive and, in my opinion, the Eufy is much better value. Am a definite convert to Eufy.
If there’s anything that tells you you’re living in the future more than drinking tea while remote controlling your hoover around your living room I’d like to know what it is. We’ve only had Giles for a couple of days and my only regret is not getting him sooner. I’ve been debating getting one of these for a while but some of the prices are crazy and I was wary of buying a (relatively) cheap one. Then I saw the reviews for this model and decided to take the plunge.
So far so great! Our main room is open plan with wooden floors and 2 couches that are low enough to be awkward to get under to hoover without pulling them out, but high enough to see the large dustballs underneath. I have long hair, a cat, and a husband, so the floor always needs swept and frankly I have things I care more about. But not Giles! In he came and within a matter of fascinating minutes (it’s quite hypnotic to watch) he had trundled under both and left the floor cleaner than it had been in a shamefully long time. He’s very good at manoeuvring things without crazily bumping into them and damaging them, although without mapping his sense of direction is roughly equivalent to mine so he does have a habit of wandering round the same spot for a while instead of heading off to other parts of the room. But he makes it there, and back to the charging station, eventually. We put the station under our sideboard cupboards so it’s unobtrusive rather than sitting out in plain sight.
You do have to make sure cords are out of the way, and he kept trying to mount the base of the floor lamp, but the magnetic strips provided are really effective at keeping him away and fairly neutral so not an eyesore (not sure I’d want them along the edge of a hearth though). I set the timer for him to come on before we got up, but found it a bit too loud, especially in the tiled hall – although in general I think it’s relatively quiet – but the app meant I could just change my mind and send him back to charge. He has got stuck once under a tv unit that’s just a bit too low but he beeped enough to alert me then stopped before it got annoying which is good.
Overall I think it’s going to be a game-changer in terms of keeping on top of the everyday dust and hair and generally making the place look clean and tidy with zero effort. What more can you ask for?
(The cat hates him though. Won’t be in the room when he’s working, and gave him a skippety-pap on the way past the charging station today, but until I can convince her to wear duster shoes he’s staying.)
Okay I was skeptical. Like really skeptical! I was also dubious incase I sent best part of 200 on something that may be rubbish.
However… It is amazing!
I have mid brown coloured mid piled carpet and 1 very floofy Norwegian Forest Cat and 1 very shedding half Norwegian Forest cat! Think fine flyaway and massive tufts of fluff and you will understand my plight. Add in a 9 year old that drops enough crumbs when he eats to feed an entire mouse nation and we have the perfect testing grounds for the G40.
Firstly it took me an hour to connect this to the Internet… BUT that was my fault, I’d put the password in wrong
But your password in right and it’s a quick 5 min job!
I set it to go on the boost setting and it bumbled away collecting all the carpet treasures! It managed to get into the kitchen, it went over the thick coir mat by the back door with no problem!
It whizzed up the clumps of floof and the crumb mountain with ease. When it had finished I cleaned the tray and was shocked to see how much it had collected to be honest. I’d only hoovered yesterday!
I did pause it and carry it upstairs to see if it would throw itself down the stairs, however it didn’t. It sensed the edge and continued on its merry little way!
I am really impressed.
The reason I decided to buy is due to my limited Mobility issues and this will be an absolute allie for me in the battle of housework.
Cats are not too keen on it, child thinks it’s a marvel, I am tempted to marry it!
You won’t be disappointed if you order I promise.
What is good
Cleans well goes from hard floor to carpet and can hear when it changes to adapt. Does get floor clean and carpets too. Great to leave and just get on with it while do other things and that’s a time effort saver.
I Brought this because dog was scared of big hoover. Both cat and dog at first watched this travel around with fascination. No fear or barking .
Does need to be emptied after every use as container is not huge. This is very easy to do and brush provided to clean filter. Easy to fit back together .
Brush on underside easy to clean and remove hair. Scary how much it accumulates!!
Does not fall down stairs and stops at the edges of things. Gentle with furniture will not bang or damage your best Hepplewhite chair.
Does the lower half of house on one charge and returns to charging post. This can be a slow process but makes it there in the end.
What’s not so good
Does not go into corners too well due to its size and shape.
I removal of all things loose shoe laces / tassels need to be clear or gets tangled up.
Rugs which are light weight also need to be moved as again ruffles these up.
Did get stuck on fire place so know use metal strip provided.
I obvious point does not do stairs .
I could not get it to work with Alex and gave up . Was not that important to me .
Does have a small remote which sits on stand which does come in very handy when I remember to use it .
But I think it’s a great product and would recommend.
Saves me time and less back ache.
Dog cat happy too.
Wow where to start! never having owned a robot vacuum cleaner before i didn’t know what to expect but have been pleasantly surprised how well it works and how helpful it is. A lot of extras are included from brushes, magnetic rolls, sticky pads and cutting tool for removing hair from the rotating brush.
Dirty Bertie which is his given name took around 5.5 hours to charge and will flash orange to start then turn blue when he is fully charged and ready to go, he lasts around a good hour after that. The app is easy to set up and has many handy little features. I have found him easy to empty and clean and you will be surprised and shocked how much dust and dirt he actually picks up.
The plus points for me are the convenience of use when i am busy doing other things, Bertie gets under low to the floor furniture that i can’t get my vacuum cleaner under and the rotating brushes do a good job of cleaning in the corners and sides of rooms. The suction is great and Bertie moves niftily along the floor too, (i made a short video of him in action moving along different flooring surfaces). The magnetic rolls, there are two of them can be cut to length, i have a lot of fire places in my house and one of them has a raised wooden surround that he kept getting stuck on top of so i laid the strips around the edges and he then avoided it from then on. I have a lot of furniture and he manages it well and will try his best to reach those awkward areas.
The negatives are that with furniture in the corners of rooms he can’t clean these areas unless you remove the furniture this isn’t always possible and with light metal furniture he does have a tendency to knock it over. Regarding electric cables you will have to put them up out of the way as they will get caught up in the brushes, cable ties are included so you can use these or pop the cables in a plastic container. Bertie docks really well and leaves just enough battery life to get back to his station, i have however had him working in the living room and had to carry him to the docking station myself which is located in the dining room, this has happened only once though, the first time i tried him out.
If you don’t want him on show and seen when charging up, i have found the best place for him to dock is under my couch which is raised off the floor, he can’t be seen by anybody but will still work via the remote control and he has had no problem finding his way back. If the station moves around when he is docking himself the sticky pads can be used to set it firmly in place, i don’t have carpet so this method has worked out well for me.
I am so glad i purchased him and am really happy with his cleaning power and performance, absolutely no regrets.
* The RoboVac G30 is an upgrade to our first foray into robotic vacuums, the RoboVac 30C, and like it’s predecessor it gives a good cleaning performance, especially for something so small and unobtrusive. It’s pretty quiet, too.
* The RoboVac docking station is much smaller than its competitors, and it fits under a set of cupboards in our dining room so the RoboVac G30 is completely out of sight when docked.
* On our floor plan (seven rooms over 95 sq.m. / 1,017 sq.ft.) the RoboVac G30’s typical daily run lasts around 95 minutes, on a mixture of hard floor (85%) and carpet. Vacuum strength is excellent and it adjusts itself to floor type.
* The RoboVac G30’s systemic navigation system is more logical and better suited to our extended bungalow’s large floor plan than the previous RoboVac 30C’s bump and turn navigation, and it’s far more satisfying to watch. It doesn’t come with the barrier strips the 30C came with, but it does know about stairs and avoids drops. Battery life of the RoboVac G30 is not quite as good as that of the 30C but unlike the 30C it remembers where it’s done so it heads home, recharges, and goes back for 5-10mins to finish off.
* For our floor area the RoboVac G30’s dust box is a little small in that it needs emptying after each daily run. The micropore/paper exhaust filter system is very effective.
* The Eufy app’s scheduling options are limited – I cannot see any way to launch the RoboVac G30 automatically more than once a day, but if desired this could be overcome readily with one or more Alexa timed routine(s), or at worst a manual start (either in app – no handheld remote control supplied – or by Alexa voice trigger).
* Alexa integration is useful, and we’ve set that up and used it to trigger or abandon cleans.
* didn’t see any mention of it in the ad blurb, but the RoboVac G30, like the 30C, has drop detection, so it can be taken upstairs and used to clean our bedrooms and landing without falling down the stairs.
*The RoboVac G30 copes well with all our rugs but one small rug with tassels. The tassels can catch on the wheels and if this happens the rug is dragged along for the ride. It handles all of our other rugs, even those fluffy ones in the bathroom, just fine.
* Our cat didn’t know what to make of RoboVac at first, but he usually ignores it. Sometimes he follows it around as though keeping an eye on it. Either way I t’s quiet enough that it doesn’t scare him.
* All in all, we love the convenience of the RoboVac G30 (or 30C). And it’s saving us time and money – we only have the manual vacuum out for the stairs now. Before this we’d have hoovered the entire house twice a week, so that’s a considerable saving in both time and electricity costs. According to our power meter plug it used less than 2.4kWh in October compared to probably 14-18kWh if we’d been hoovering manually. We were hesitant to try these things because they’re not cheap and we didn’t know if it would clean well but we can now say to anyone thinking of them, they’re terrific and we wouldn’t give ours up now.
I have a tiny cottage with too much furniture in and steps up to the kitchen and bathroom so never considered getting a robovac, thought they were more for those living in large, open spaces.
I’m no domestic goddess and am shamed into getting my dyson out when I can hardly see my floor and my dog doesn’t help matters by dropping fur everywhere so decided to get one anyway.
The first problem was locating the charging unit, impossible to find a place with the recommended clearance space so opted for a small space under my tiny dining table, so far ‘Dusty’ has managed to find her way home and quite happily lets me help her up the steps to my kitchen.
When she first went under my sofa I could hear her muttering to herself at the state of it, nothing has been under there since the sofa was placed there over 10 years ago so I didn’t take offence.
One strange thing she does, she can’t get up onto my thick rug by the log burner but gets down ok, the sensor to stop her falling down the stairs doesn’t seem to work on that rug but it’s not a problem due to the spot cleaning option, she does my rug in 2 goes, first the left side and then the right.
We now have a routine, I set her to clean as I’m going out the door with my dog for our morning walk and it’s so lovely to come home to a clean house, it really does make a difference to how I feel emotionally and mentally, having her has certainly made me a much tidier person, I didn’t quite live in squalor before but not far off!
One a week I take her upstairs to do my bedroom and bathroom and she copes remarkably well with my long blonde hair which seems to shed at an alarming rate.
My cottage is over 300 years old and my front door opens directly into my living room from the pavement outside so that area gets the most messy during the winter months, the option to spot clean that small area alone is probably my favourite thing about her.
Now I’ve become used to her I know I’ll never be without one again, buy one, you’ll never regret it.
Wow!
I took a bit of a punt on this Robovac as it was on a pretty good deal. Checked out a few videos online and decided to go for it.
Glad I did!
I live in a house occupied by 4 people. 2 adults. 2 children. No pets.
Our 2 children are under 12 and therefore naturally make a mess… dropping crumbs, dirty shoes etc.
Every meal time I am tired of finishing the meal, tidying and washing up, to then find the floor needs vacuuming. So out comes the vacuum and 10 minutes later, I can finally sit down… to find that another room needs vacuuming…
It’s fantastic but not perfect…
Positives:
Starting with the positives, this device cleans a room for you. Giving you time to finish another job, have a well earned sit down, or sort the children out to then return to the room and have it relatively clean! brilliant!
You can set a schedule or start it from your phone. So it can start while you are out and you come home to a clean room. Excellent!
It requires some maintenance such as emptying the waste compartment but not much.
Negatives:
It doesn’t do well with edges. Especially on carpet where the carpet folds over against your skirting boards. You need a separate vac to get there.
It doesn’t do stairs. So you need a vac for them.
It does pickup or get stuck on things you don’t want to, and requires your attention, such as shoes laces. You then have to sit there for ten minutes trying to pick them out…
It does get confused with light. So if you have the sun shining through your window, and it casts shadows in your room, this will confuse the Robovac. As it things its an obstacle.
Standard setting is not powerful enough on a lower pile carpet. Put it on max for best results.
Overall:
I know i’ve given some negatives but all that is required is a little thought before setting Robovac off to clean. Such as wedging doors open/closed. Moving ALL items off the floor and under units/sofa. Closing curtains to stop shadows.
Overall, we are really happy with this. It gets under sofas that you normally can’t reach and therefore forget about, under TV units, and on max suction, its very close to a regular vacuum.
It’s fine with the top of stairs (we’ve done the panic test) and cleans right to the edge without falling down…
The app is great too. You can activate it with your voice if linked with google assist or Alexa and it will tell you the state of the brushes/sensors and if they require cleaning/replacing.
The other great thing with the app, is that it will notify you if the Robovac gets stuck, is picked up or needs assistance. Great if its picked something up that it shouldn’t or if the kids are playing with it…!!
How i would rate this device is that it’s great to keep the dirt/dust down but it won’t replace a regular vacuum. You will still need that for the edges/stairs etc. But the biggest plus point is saving you time. It does a general clean while you are at work or hanging the washing out and when you get back, you’ll be pleasantly surprised!
Get it!
I love this product!
Right, now that I have your attention, read on dear reader. I bought this product, as I felt that it would help kill two birds with one stone as it were (no birds were harmed in the writing of this review). I could get the hoovering done, whilst working on the rest of the housework.
The RoboVac is as relatively as compact as it can be, and is very thorough in its cleaning. Contained within the packaging, is the RoboVac itself (obviously), two boundary strips, replacement brushes, and replacement filter, a home charing station, and a remote control. The boundary strips are perfect for placing across areas you don’t want the vac to go, the replacement brushes are ideal for when your brushes need replacing, same with the filter really. The remote can be used to send it to do automated cleaning, or you can control it manually, either way the option is there.
To get started, you’ll need to make sure you download the Eufy app. You’ll need that to set it up, and be able to control it from your phone too. Also, if you have an Echo device, you can get the Eufy skill, and link your accounts to control it using Alexa. I found the set up process to be very quick and easy. A very straightforward process, that should even be idiot proof. Within minutes I had R2D2 up and running, and gliding about the house doing the cleaning.
Upon putting my RoboVac together, I was faced with a slight issue, that being that the clip on the dust collector tray was broken. It had arrived like this. Whilst the product still worked ok, it had the ability to get worse due to how it was broken, and require replacing. Worried that I would have to send the whole thing back, and await the arrival of another, whole new product, I was put in contact with ANKER who produce this product, and supplied it through Amazon. To my amazement, they didn’t require anything to be sent back, and very swiftly arranged a replacement part, all they needed were some brief details of the fault, and some pictures of it. Within 24 hours of me contacting them, they had responded, and were arranging a replacement part be dispatched out to me. It has since arrived, and works perfectly. I have no doubt that this was an isolated issue, and was resolved very quickly and very professionally. It is for this reason, that I have not deducted a star for this.
The product itself, well, it sucks, but in a good way. It sucks how it is meant to suck, it gets up all the dust and dirt that it needs to. I know that’s quite a sweeping statement (it does that too), but I was surprised at how much such a small and compact RoboVac can pick up, and how dirty the floor actually was, genuinely doesn’t look that bad at all. The RoboVac does well at learning its surroundings, and will cover the whole floor, it even manages to get into corners. It has sensors all around which prevent it from crashing into things, and also keeps it away from the edge of the stairs, so that it doesn’t take a tumble.
I am pleased that I have made the investment in this product, and it is a product I would recommend if you are looking to purchase one of these. If you have a dog, however, a couple of tips, get your dog used to it, otherwise you may find your dog chasing it around trying to attack it, or running away from it. Also make sure that your dog hasn’t left a little surprise anywhere before activating it, otherwise you may find that you have some lovely brown smears across your floor.
One other thing, before I go, the RoboVac can be given a name on the app, and I am torn with what to call it. R2D2 is clearly an option as a Star Wars fan, and I know someone else has called theirs Meryl Sweep, I’m kinda liking Dusty Springclean to be honest…
Seriously, if you are looking for one of these, I highly recommend.
Where do I start… I work in tech, so am always hankering after gadgets and tech-toys, and to be honest I thought that this might end up as being a bit of a gimmick. I purchased it on the Prime Deal as it was a great price, and I thought, for that, it was worth a gamble.
However, it wasn’t completely a impulse buy, I first spent a number of hours on the internet, researching Eufy, and looking at all the alternatives – of which there are quite a lot, I was surprised to see. I watched many of the you tube reviews, again on this and the others, and time and time again, the Eufy 30c came out doing really well. So I ordered it!
When it arrived, it was well packed, and came with some spare filters and brushes – so you don’t have to worry about that when you order. I subsequently looked on Amazon, and there are filter and brush kits readily available, so that’s good too. He (lol) had some charge in the battery already, but I did put him on the base and allowed a full charge before using. This didn’t take as long as I thought it was going to, but as I say, it already had some charge in the battery.
Whilst it was charging I downloaded the app on my tablet and also my phone, and that was all very quick and easy. Very straight forward if you are not that comfortable with tech.
When it was ready, I pressed the auto mode button in the app – and he was off ! I believe he has 9 infrared detectors and the bumper on the front to help him find his way, and avoid obstacles. On IQ Boost the suction motor adjusts itself depending on what surface he is on, so on a stone tiled floor, he is nice and quiet, and really not that noticeable. On thicker carpet, or rugs, he may increase his suction, which raises the noise level, but nowhere near like a regular vacuum cleaner. The suction power is surprisingly strong, and coupled with the underside rotating brush, he picks up pretty much everything. I really like the two front brushes which pick up everything and shoot it into the path of the underside sucker – very efficient!
We are not untidy people and tend to vacuum probably every other day, as we have cats and dogs – but since having Eufy, we have not had to get the regular cleaner out. In his app, you can schedule when he cleans, and we have him set for each work day morning at 06:00, and 07:00 at the weekend. He wakes up at the set time and off he goes, running for about an hour and 20 minutes before, dropping into low power mode and heading home. Our house is a quite large, 4 bed, detached, and he is keeping on top of the cleaning really well. As he lives downstairs, which is where his charging point is, we will often carry him upstairs and let him loose up there too.
As he is very low, he will clean under cupboards and in particular – beds! The underside of our beds have never been so dust free! The downside it though, until he gets on top of those generally unseen areas, you do have to empty him quite a lot. He has a 0.6 litre capacity bin, which is very easy to empty and keep clean. You will be amazed at just how much he picks up! Worth a mention as well, is the fact he has special sensors underneath which detect drop-offs, like the top of the stairs. They work well, he gets to the edge and just simply turns around.
So, there must be some negatives – you must be thinking? Well, the only one I can really talk about is the way in which he finds his way around. I must say that this isn’t a game changer for me, I knew it when I purchased, and its not that big a deal. But, he finds his way around randomly. So each time he detects an object which makes him change direction, he will simply, turn and go. I don’t think that there is any thought to it. What do I mean by that? Well, the more expensive robot vacs have proper mapping technology. So they map out each room, and learn the layout of your house – and this makes the finding of the charge point a much more efficient process – as the device ‘knows’ where to return to straight away. With Eufy, when he drops to low power mode, he has to continue his random was around the house until he detects the signal from the charge base, and that seems to be a line-of-sight affair. We have found him flat on occasion having not managed to find his way back before the battery has given out. But it really is no big deal as 9 times out of 10 he makes it back home.
The other issue, I’m led to believe, with not having the mapping, is it apparently makes him less efficient when cleaning. As with mapping the device knows where it has been, so doesn’t do it again. With random, he cleans everything a number of times. Does this bother me, or cause any issues? Absolutely not. I don’t know how the software works, but he cleans everywhere, very well, and as I say, 9/10 makes it back to his charging base without any help.
What else can I say about our Eufy? Well, he fully integrates with Alexa, which was very easy to setup, so we do voice control him, sending him home for example, when we think he has cleaned enough, which he will often do in our large house, before his battery is flat.
Finally his aesthetics. He looks great! Really modern & high-tech. Sleek back finish, and a high gloss, glass top, with his blue power light, and wi-fi indicator.
In conclusion: Would I recommend getting one? You bet I would! Its funny as friends who come around often start chuckling about getting a robot vac, as they know what I’m like with my tech. But that is until they see him in action! Then they all want to take him home! Also if you are a little older and maybe have to rely on some help around the house, this would be perfect for you.
I have wanted a Robot Vacuum for a long time but was sceptical about the cheaper ones and didn’t want to spend the type of money needed on the more expensive.
I have been using Robovac for over a month now and can honestly say this is the best gadget I have ever purchased at this price. On the price front, when you see this on Sale – pick it up, I paid 169 and that now feels like such a bargain.
The first few days I used it while I was around, just to get an idea of where it might struggle, for example I have a TV stand that is just the right height from the ground that Robo can get itself stuck. This was the only place it seemed to happen so fixed this by just putting something underneath that would trigger its sensors to back off. The robovac comes with Magnetic tape that can be used to block off areas, but I was reluctant to use this and to be honest have not found a need. My reluctance is due to not knowing what effect it would have to nearby electronic devices and as the kids leave their gadgets all over the place I was hesitant to leave such highly magnetic tape around.
After a couple of days I setup the schedule using the App for it to start cleaning at 5am every morning. What impresses me the most is that when I get up 9.5 times out of 10 its back on its charging station and you are left with clean floors. Very occasionally it will get stuck – but most of the time that due to human error – e.g. accidently leaving a cable on the ground or toys that it gets caught up on.
Now I have found poor Robovac in a poor state a couple of time, its guts spewed out across the ground after coming across a pile of toys that were not cleared away. However these events actually make me far more impressed with the machine as each time that happened it was obvious that the primary elements – the side brushes and the main brush appear to be designed to come off when the going gets tough rather than stay firmly attached until a motor burns out. The other time was when a cable managed to get so tangled up in the wheel I could not untangle it – however just removing four screws allowed me to pull the whole wheel out and untangle it – that’s great design.
My first impressions were in awe at just how much dust and dirt this was picking up. Now we were not daily hoovering people, working couple with kids meant it was a once a week job. Vobovac does not get bored and just happily keeps going until its full or needs charging and so the cleaning experience is incredible, day after day how it manages to find so much dirt and dust to pick up amazes me.
We have a mixture of low pile rugs, wooden floors and tiles – all of which it has dealt with without issue. The one problem it does have is in the bathroom where we have small light bathroom rugs which are not stuck down so it pushes those out of the way rather than going over them, but that is a minor issue and I would be surprised if any Robot Vacuum could deal with those better. Given its quite low, especially compared to other Robot Vacs its surprisingly good at getting under beds, tables and wardrobes etc – so the rooms are cleaner than ever with those hard to reach spots taken care of.
Other reviewers have said not to pay attention to its cleaning as its very random and you would wonder what it’s doing and in a way yes- its path can make little sense but it really gets the job done so you just don’t worry about it.
I was surprised recently to find out it has a light, never normally up a night when its on so was shocked when I saw a light moving around the room, its a nice feature.
The drop sensors work great, whenever it does upstairs it will get to the top of the staircase, peek over and quickly double back.
You will find that it needs to be emptied on a daily basis, this is easy through and the main roller is easy to remove to untangle any hair that has built up.
Are there any negatives – sure no device is perfect.
Charging times are quite long, I think its around 5 hours. Not generally a problem but I do like to set the vac lose on the upstairs once its recharged.
It needs to learn to take alternative route decisions a bit quicker, sometimes you will find it getting stuck and trying far to many times to get out in the same direction when it should try to back up, turn and find another way out sooner – its seems a bit too stubborn in that regard.
The drop sensors can be fooled by dark shadows, so it will think the shadow is a ledge and keep backing away from it.
It might do better with more sensors, you can see that they work a lot of the time to back it off before it bumps into something, but it still bumps quite often – not really an issue but occasionally it has managed to move furniture around so more sensors should work better.
Overall this is one brilliant machine, I find very little to fault and the floors have never looked so clean.
I honestly can’t see the point in paying hundreds more of a Robot Vacuum when the Robovac is this good at the price. Highly recommended.
This is a review of the Eufy Robot Vacuum Cleaner [BoostIQ] RoboVac 30C which I have used now for about 6 months.
My first impression of the device were very strong and not long after unboxing it it was working it’s away around each room that I placed it in with very impressive results, collecting more dust than I thought was present in the room. The device is more than capable of working its way around a room, collecting dust from edges and corners in way that by looking at it you wouldn’t think possible. Eventually, and this is really testament to its partial success, you will find that the return of dust to the dust compartment lessens with each use and that is really simply because you have less dust in the house which is after all the job of this device, so far so good.
The device is provided with an app that enables you to control the way it moves and to also set a schedule however it can be quite tricky to know where to place it and on what schedule to run it and you either find yourself moving up and down flights of stairs too frequently for it be described as “zero effort from you.” as the marketing of the product suggests or that it can be tricky to make sure that the floor is free of all clutter in order for it to run as efficiently as you need it to in order to achieve an effective result.
The issue of efficiency is also compounded by the lack of sophistication in the units intelligence which leads to what can seem like a poor performance in battery life. Currently a 5 hour charge is giving me about 20 mins of maximum performance when considering how little intelligence is actually in use can often times not be enough of a duration to achieve an effective clean. You can run this on a lower setting for a longer duration giving me approximate 35 mins use for a 5 hour charge.
What you will find in this respect is that the unit will tend to go over the same patches again sand again during the same routine, and as well as that you will also find that it has what I believe to be a completely unintended bias towards the light meaning that you if you have parts of rooms that are brighter than others or you have any white furniture, the 30C will spend most of times heading these areas again and again. It can start to become very frustrating watching it make the same mistakes over and over and to say that the included boundary stops give you “worry free cleaning” may be accurate to a point but is not really a true reflection of the reality when using the device as you end up either having to leave large magnetic metal like strip in a position within a room which frankly looks ugly or you have to keep moving the strip around to which part of a room(s) the device wants to head to next. That said the sensor in the device which determines is direction and also its boundary can be very effective at times, as the device will sometimes recognise that it’s about to collide with something and it adjusts its direction before doing so, not every time however but it also does a great job at not falling down stairs, a point at which the thing appears to look more sentient than it actually is. However, the device will also quite frequently stop during its operation for one reason or another, most commonly as something gets stuck in it’s brushes, this can be especially frustrating as not only does the current job not complete without intervention it also makes a quite horrific incessant beeping noise for a period as well as it also alerting you on the app too, all of which is completely unnecessary and totally unavoidable in so far as I have experienced.
I am led to believe that some of these issue have been resolved with some of the more expensive models and my experience with this particular model has been positive enough to make me consider an upgrade however, the expense does appear to increase quite rapidly the higher up you look and because of that I would want to ensure that no only does a more expensive model resolve the issue I have had with the device but that it also does not introduce any more issues.
Overall, the 30C is a good product. It cleans well, is very easy to use once you find a way to integrate its operation into a routine that works for you it verges on being an essential item that every home should have. I don’t believe that you could ever replace your main vacuum with one of these entirely in a house, though it could be possible in a an apartment as this device will not clean stairs and upholstery and it will obviously not climb stairs. I’ve given it four stars as it has actually exceeded my expectation in may respects though if I could give half stars I would actually settle on 3.5 stars, simply because the lack of intelligence in the unit and/or the app does reveal some of the weaknesses of this particular model, to the point where I can see a lot of people not really using it as much as they had probaly hoped.
If you are thinking about getting one of these devices I would strongly suggest looking at what the more recent models can offer and for how much and if it seems that the price of those models in prohibitive, think carefully about whether it’s best to settle for the 30C or whether it’s better to hold out.
After months of debating over which robot vacuum to go for i finally decided on this after narrowing it down to this and the 15C max version. This the first robot vacuum I’ve owned or ever actually seen in action (although at the same time I did buy a 20 different model off of amazon just to deal with my bedroom which is upstairs in the loft.)
Sonny (as we’ve named him) is the best Christmas present I could have bought for myself and flatmates. I previously split my share of the vacuuming time roughly 70% dreading it/25% feeling guilty for not doing it and the other 5% looking for a robot vacuum. It goes without saying my flatmates are delighted that I’m finally pulling my weight.
Set up of Sonny was super easy although I’m yet to get him to show up on my Alex app as a device, although he does respond to company on Alexa through our phones and 4K for stIckes (which currently are the only Alexa devices we own)
Our flat is a mixture of carpet and wooden floors and he vaccines then all with easy (our carpet is very short I should add).
The first time we used him his dust bin was full within an hour and we (my flatmate) had only vacuumed a couple days before, he did an amazing job getting under the counters and into the corners and picking up cat hair which was impressive as the cat owner and the cat moved out 2 months ago.
The floors are extremely clean after the first use and after a week the dust levels are reduced also.
He does get stuck now and again under funny shaped items (like my clothes rail) and you can
Hear beeping from him and a notification when he gets stuck (often for us after consuming too much of my flatmates long hair) but it’s an absolute doddle to untangle him and get him on the move.
He’s extremely quiet (although when he does get stuck his beeps are loud enough to get your attention) so you can watch tv easily while he’s a work.
The boundary strips are not something we’ve needed to use and he’s not tried to throw himself over the stairs yet. He’s registered to my account but my flatmates have both created their own account which was very easy and I’ve shared him through the apps (extremely easy) so we can all control him from wherever in the flat or world we are!
There are a couple more features I’d like, such as mapping off the flat and less random movements, but those are features I’d be happy to pay more for so for the price (169.99 at time of purchase) I’ve no complaints. As soon as his hybrid cousin comes down in price I’ll be buying her for my upstairs room which is wooden and tiled (Sonny does do a great job of the vacuuming when I bring him up here though, I’d like the mop feature to
reduce further my spent or thinking about cleaning and give me the opportunity to find another chore to procrastinate.
I have now had him a week but i have no reasons to complain. He’s very quiet and doesn’t dash into items. Rather gently avoids unless he’s doing a clean of the edges.
For comparison the 22 I I purchased does a good job on hard floor floors (he won’t even move on our carpet) but doesn’t have any of the smart features of Sonny and also by bumps into obstacles making him a bit noisy, but still satisfactory for his price.
For me the floors have never looked cleaner, all you may find you need to do it move furniture for tight spaces or do as I did and purchase small handheld device for tight spaces and stairs.
Very much looking forward adding another Eufy to the family and I only wish I had a bigger house to justify many more.
Murph, as he has become known, arrived at my house after the last amazon sale, and I wasn’t expecting all that much at the price… but ive gotta be honest i’m super impressed
Scandinavian minimalism – my flat, is not, it has very narrow walkways between furniture and more nooks and crannies than Gordon Ramsey’s visage but somehow Murph diligently finds his way around my cluttered rooms, often going back over the same spot many times, he seems to lack any ability to room map you see, but he perseveres, banging his head and reversing, and always gets it eventually and then continues on his merry way like the happy little sucker he is
Murph largely does his work when I’m out of the house, so I do quite often get a message pop up on my phone saying Murph has got stuck, or his brush is caught on something. So, when i get home I ask Alexa to find Robovac and then the fun begins, as you follow the happy beeps to discover which minor predicament he’s got into – has he sucked a sock or a phone cable up his backside, or the very occasional manoeuvring accident where he gets stuck on the corner of a rug or he’s tried to mount one of on my domed speaker bases
…BUT… always my flat is spotless, definitely cleaner than when I left, and generally far more detritus-free than its ever been. So, sure he gets stuck occasionally and mindlessly bumps his way around the room, but boy is he good at tackling the job. I have quite thick rugs he jumps up with ease, door boundaries are a doddle.
I have had to use the supplied magnetic strips to close off a few small areas that he struggles with, an area of wires under the TV he likes to pull at and one exit from under a sofa (yes he happily goes under my sofa) where he gets stuck as the exit meets a rug, and I have to be mindful of those socks and phone cables (probably to my general betterment) – thats it though!
Ive even given him an obstacle course at his charging point, under a table with a chair in the way, only just big enough so squeeze between the legs – yet, he always makes it back (after I free him from his latest predicament) using his usual bumpy, bumpy, try, try method of navigation.
I have one minor quibble – you need to keep him empty and the cylinder brush clean (very, very simple job) – he does have a tendency on piled carpets, to deposit fluff when he finishes a cleaning cycle. I think what happens is the dustbox backs up dense fluff in the slot between the brush and dustbox opening this then gets caught in the brush on the cylinder – which is fine when its running – but as it slows down that fluff then gets dropped or attaches itself back to the pile carpet
So occasionally you will find a few fluffballs lying around. This means to me he definitely needs emptying (he sometimes isnt always full but there is usually a gratifyingly dense amount of fluff in the dustbox opening) and most importantly his brush needs a good clean using the tool. Its a 2 minute job, couldnt be more simple to remove, just a clipped hinged cover – so no bother at all. My hoover has been relegated to the ‘cupboard-that-ne’er-gets-opened’, thanks to Murph but your hoover hose is a pretty good way to clean it if you hold the cylinder brush tightly and kinda let the hose suck it up
Thats it, I bought Murph outright, these are my own words as a truly happy customer
…and in the words of Muphs big brother…
Thank you for your Co-operatio
Got this to replace a pretty awful Eventer robot and am happy to say – this is much – MUCH- better. I’ve also had a Roomba 555/560 in the past, and that was a real work horse, but after many years of use and trying to extend it’s life with spares from other Roombas’ that I sourced used from eBay, it was finally time to let it go in april, where I instead got the Eventer. Big mistake, but that is another story. Read my 2 * review for Robot Vacuum Cleaner with Powerful Suction, Auto-charging Anti-Dropping Robot Vacuum, Hardwood Floor and Low-pile Carpet Cleaner, HEPA Style Filter and UV Light for Pet Fur Hair – Grey .
I did consider returning to Roomba after that experience, but the price and reviews of this Eufy made me go for it instead.
It is much more efficient than my Eventer, and probably also than the quite ageing Roomba at the end. So it works well for me.. It is reasonably silent when running, although it is still noticeable, so try not to be in the room when it runs and do remember it runs for more than an hour, not just the 5 minutes it’ll take yourself to hoover a room. But this one does it every day automatically (if you configure it)! Do you? I certainly don’t! Once a fortnight perhaps. I just don’t like to hoover! And yes you need another hoover too, but more or less only for emergencies, like the other day when I dropped an open container with flour on the floor. No robot could have fixed that. Even my hoover had a problem with that and needed extensive cleaning afterwards. But I sense I’m going out on limb here! 🙂 But day to day it works very well keeping the dust level low on my mainly low pile carpets and an area with hard floor.
It is app connected, not that I especially need it, but it adds to the geekyness for those that like it. The app is easy to use, but what you are not told before you buy (or it may be in the small print), is that the robot only runs on 2.4GHz band wifi. My wifi is a combined 2.4 and 5GHZ router with the connected devices automatically using the 5GHz band if they can, so that is what my phone used. When setting up, the app could detect the robot, but it couldn’t configure it, before I found out how to separate the two bands on my router and then connect my phone to the 2.4GHz band. Not a big issue if you have some insight into this, but my router is from a mainstream IP provider, so it can easily be the case for many others, who hasn’t necessarily the skills to deal with this. And it means that all my devices now have to run on the 2.4GHz band, as I have a lot of communication from my phone to most of them that relies on them being on the same wifi.
Without wifi connection and the app this robot cannot be scheduled! My old Roomba could be scheduled using the buttons on the robot itself. The Eventer could be scheduled from the remote. The Eufy can only be scheduled through the app!
I’m not into voice operation so I do not have either Alexa or Google Assistant, so I cannot comment on how well integrated this is.
I’ve always used virtual walls/borders to prevent my robots from straying into other rooms. I want my scheduled clean to take place in the main living, eating and cooking room, where I also have some pet chipmunks that adds quite a lot to the dust level, whereas the need for hoovering in the rest of my flat is much less and can be done by moving the robot there once in a while manually. This robot doesn’t come with a virtual wall/border, instead it comes with some magnetic strip, that you can put on the floor to limit where it goes. It works well, but I would prefer the other solution, although I also can see how you can make more flexible and versatile borders with these strips, if you have the need. I just don’t have that need. Ideally, it should come with a zone planner, like many robot movers do these days! There might already be a robotic hoover out there that does this, but then it’s probably not in the price bracket where I looked.
They mention it has 1500 Pa suction compared to 1300 for their previous model. How much of a difference that makes, I am not sure. It’s a bit like is 20mb better than 12mb for your phone camera? The answer is – it depends. For my old roomba the suction level wasn’t even publicized, but it still made a magnificent job, until it died of old age. But it did have a very clever set of counterrotating brushes, that is very efficient for picking up larger debris sizes. Something that I think Eufy should adopt.
Conclusion: It is a very well made robot and it works very well. Yes I have listed a number of issues with it, but they are not big issues, and some of it is just my personal preferences and I certainly can recommend it to someone looking for a capable robot with a lower price tag than the main brands usually have.
