It needs a good stir before use. Don’t be put off how it looks when brushing on. Covers old wood and stains evenly. Looks Amazing when done. Decking preserved for another year. Brilliant product for one coat!
This stuff goes on nicely without too many drips, doesn’t smell too strong (outside at least) and has left my hardwood garden chairs looking very smart. Time will tell how well it wears.
I made some quick pine shelves for my daughter who also wanted the wood fairly dark. A couple of Coates of this and job done. Very easy to apply, a bit of soap and hot water enough to clean the brush, job done.
Used three coats to stain my staircase. This is a great product. Very thin consistency (as all wood stains/varnishes are), but after three coats I got a great finish and there’s still three quarters of the tin left. No complaints from me!
This is only one coat of paint! Lovely colour, I didn’t sand anything down either just slapped it on. It rained the same night unexpectedly and it’s still looking pretty darn good!!! Highly recommend, dried pretty quick too. Used 3 tins for coverage of this fence and gate.
THE Product is good did the job well , But . the condition of the item when it arrived was in a very poor state . it looked like a very large black football , on opening the packeging it was swimming in the contents of the liquid stain . there was LARGE Dent in the container which had leaked out into the packeging what a mess. so can only give 3 stars. t wilkinson.
The product is ideal. the lid of the tin came off in transport little was lost but the seller reacted with speed and courtesy and the problem was dealt with quickly and with courtesy and politeness to my complete satisfaction. Would definitely order from this seller again.
Great value , good consistency, some wood stains can be runny, this one good , doesn’t drip , dry in no time , basically it does what it says , and brush easy to clean after , a little goes a long way , will definitely purchase agai
I wasn’t able to use the stain because of the weather
But I did start using it last week & have since one a second coat
I used it for my very large wooden garden table & after the second coat I must say it looks grea
I found this wood stain really easy to use and very effective. I’ve posted three photos. The first is the chair before I started. I’d sanded it down as it had been previously stained. The second photo is after one coat and the final photo is after two coats all over but three coats on the seat, backrest and arms. I’m really pleased with the finish. I like the deep rich colour of the dark oak. I think as my wooden furniture gets older it maybe looks better with a darker colour as it covers a multitude of marks. This colour has made the chairs look almost new and I’m glad went for it. So you do need a flake free surface before you start but if it’s plain new wood you can start without any preparation. Give the tin a good shake or stir it well and I used an ordinary paintbrush. I suppose you could use a cloth but you would get really messy as it’s fairly thin consistency. I did it on a nice sunny day and it was touch dry inside 30 minutes. It says you can put the next coat on after 4 hrs. I did wait as per the instructions. So across a couple of days I managed to get two chairs fully stained. To do these chairs it took half a tin so I will have enough to re do them again next year. I love the fact you wash the brush out in warm water so very easy to clean up after. Once finished I noted that water sits on the top of the stain in droplets so it’s great protection for the Great British summer when we are bound to get plenty of rain. I’ve not used this make of stain before but I’d be really happy to choose it again. No issues and does a great job. It was also cheaper than stains I’ve used in the past and yet does an equally good job. Very pleased I tried it.
A before and after and this was with just one coat of the stain it says to do 3 coats but I might only need the 2nd coat. It’s easy enough to apply you just need to be a bit quick about it because it likes to stay in the one of if not moved! I haven’t even gone though half of the can either too so it can be used for more little jobs
Delivered damaged and beyond use, leaked all over box and other items in delivery.
Opened box in my office, contents dripped on to carpet. Luckily this is water based so quick action and washed out fast with plenty of water.
See photo, I had to split the bag in the sink to try to rescue what was left.
Far too damaged to return.
Goes on easy, minimal drip and minimal brush marks. I used for a table I made. I did 2 applications to achieve a slightly lighter effect than the colour on the tin.
You need to check the meters squared as this looks like requiring 3 coats to get the colour on the tin.
I have nothing to grumble about.
Bought for staining a set of pine stair rails. Applied using a sponge (just a normal cheap pack of kitchen dish sponges) (used a brush just to get the stain from can to wood, then sponge to cover). 2 coats of this with a bit of drying time inbetween coats (dries very quickly), followed by 2 coats of a clear protective varnish (with a brush). Very easy to apply. Ensure you stir well.
Came out fantastic – Consistant colour, that brings out the grain nicely. Colour looks expensive – not orange, but a richer darker brown.
Highly recommend.
I got to use this Dark Oak woodstain from Ronseal today.I have received a 750ml tin of the above from Ronseal to review for Amazon Vine.
Today I coated the timber surround on my mother’s grave with this.I have included a before and after pic.So far I have applied just one coat of this woodstain,so this review refers to that.Once I apply a second coat next week,I will update the review.
The colour on the basis of one coat looks a lot lighter to me than I was expecting,or it could be that it was not fully dry.
If this is the final colour then it is a Light Oak rather than a Dark Oak.The woodstain is easy to apply and the grave surround looks s lot better than when it was untreated.
There was a fair amount of dripping, but this was a result of me using a big brush and applying the woodstain quickly.More control can be gained by using a smaller brush and taking your time.
So far I am quite pleased with this so I am going to awrd 4 stars.I will add a star if the final colour after the 2nd coat matches the colour displayed on the tin.I will update further next week
I really like the Everbuild range, it’s all I use in my workshop in fact. I don’t have anywhere close to the full range but I’m working on that and hope to build up a stash big enough to cope with any customer demand.
The stain goes on easily, whether by brush or rag, and provides a good, consistent, colour. It takes varnish and/or wax with no issues and is a great all-round product. The price is reasonable and you’ll find your cans are very well wrapped and protected when they’re delivered. I can’t fault the range or the vendor, excellent all round.
Excellent product. I miss calculated the amount needed when I purchased the 250ml so ordered another, this time 750ml. Out of this I’ve managed four coats and still havr half the tin left so 500ml would of been enough for that application.
The floor looks brilliant. The look I wanted, a nice shine look but not glossy, very rich deep colouring.
I was going to apply with a cloth but the instructions said to use a brush. I was a bit cautious at first but it dried smooth.
My landing took four coats to get the desired colouring. What I like about this product is I managed to bring the colours to an equal tint via applying on certain sections that were lighter during each application. It dried evenly and I can’t recomend enough.
It goes on greyish then stains to a brown oak, just as it says on the tin.
I used this to cover a six foot garden gate, which was in need of some treatment. It has worked fine and left the gate a much nicer colour and hopefully protected from the weather. It is not a paint so you can still see the grain of the wood, or any other imperfections of the wood (like filler). One tin has coated my gate on both sides and done the frame as well. There is still some of the product left but probably not quite enough to give it all a second coat, but I did give the gate a good first coat I hope.
Everbuild EVBWSDO750 750 ml Quick Dry Wood Stain – Satin Dark Oak
excellent value for money. every bit as good as ronseal or other big brands. was a bit reluctant to purchase incase quality was poor – so bought only one tin initially. exterior of house was being painted by professional painter (as opposed to by me.. hopeless diy novice) who was very impressed with quality and said it was every bit as good as expensive brands. then hastily ordered enough tins to get the job finished. would most definitely recommend.
