A highly useful tool to have, especially for those who do a lot of DIY. This can also be used in other crafts, such as sewing: put it against something you are wanting to cover in fabric to get an accurate and quick copy that can then be transferred to fabric or paper to make into a pattern.
My only concern is: how long will it last? However, it is cheap enough to replace.
Perfect for tiling, carpets and woodwork, even patio slabs.
If you haven’t got one already, then buy this and keep it in your toolbox, one day you’ll be glad that you did.
Laid some ceramic floor tiles last weekent and found this Profile Gauge invaluable when cutting out around cornices, etc. Very easy to use and once the shape is set it locks into placenice and firmly. Works just as well for curves and angled shapes. Great time and material saver. Great as a Fathers day gift, a Mothers day gift or a gift for any other DIYer at any other time.

We’re redecorating the house, with a lot of DIY. This tool is a life saver when it comes to corners. It’s very easy to use. It’s got some clasps to keep the shape in position and transfer it into where you need it such as laminated flooring etc. Great and much needed tool
Nice presented and perfect for a gift.But as a second taught I will keep it for me being very useful for duplicate some shapes in real time.Gives you a good measuring margin and it has a good pins density.Obviously you won’t get a perfect laser shape but there’s no any consistent error o any deformation to be considered.Great little and very practical tool.
Got the comment about the packaging out of the way first. This is a very useful addition to any DIYer’s tool box. I wish I’d had one of these a few years ago when I did our bathroom. It would have aided the tile cutting no end.
For the price of this shape gauge, it is money well spent, saving in both wasted materials and sheer frustration / hair pulling.

The Anrapley 10 inch Contour Gauge arrived in a very striking. overprinted made-to-measure cardboard box, which included the words “For Your Lover”! The mind boggles!
Inside the box the Contour Gauge was packed in a clear plastic bag, with an Allen key taped to its integral ruler. A small FAQ leaflet was also enclosed.
Having been a keen DIY-er since my teens, I added a contour gauge to my tool collection many years ago, and I am not boasting, but currently mine is 12 inches! Or to be more precise, actually only 300mm!
The length is not the only advantage that my existing contour gauge has over this Anrapley 10 inch Contour Gauge – it has 20 teeth (measuring pins) per inch compared to the 16 of the Anrapley.
However, in every other respect the Anrapley 10 inch Contour Gauge is vastly superior – better build quality, an integral rule, lockable aluminium latch, sturdier teeth (measuring pins), and a much greater measuring depth – precisely measured as 72mm compared to 45mm.
Despite its marketing ploy, I don’t think “Your Lover” would appreciate this Anrapley 10 inch Contour Gauge as a Christmas Gift, however, unless that person also happens to be a keen DIY’er or a professional tradesperson who would find it useful.
Have to say I wondered what the hell I had ordered when I opened this item, very Kinky packaging, bizarre!!! Anyway once I realised what it was the product actually works quite well. Over the years we have installed laminate flooring and tiling etc and really wish we had this then, it would’ve made the job so much easier, as getting a really tidy and neat fit around door frames and pipes etc have never been easy.
This one is a good size, deeper than some I’ve seen, our only gripe is the orange rods are a bit flexible and sometimes bend and flex when you don’t want it to. Once you have your imprinted shape you can lock the rods so they don’t move. For the price I think it’s a decent product but only 4* as wish it was a little sturdier.
At the time of review you can get one of these 10″ contour gauges for around 18.
It’s virtually all plastic but appears well made. Great tool for dealing with awkward shapes that have to be cut around or just to get an angle cut correctly
I said almost all plastic because the gauge has a metal securing clip.
Having a clip that locks the shape in place is a great idea because it’s always possible that something will move between measuring and cutting.
I have a deep bay widow sill to cut next week, this is going to make life so much easier as there are a few in’s and out’s to cut and the sides are not 45*
Would definitely recommend this tool for your shed/workshop/garage.
Not sure why the box is designed that way, the manufacturer need to have a look at that

Ok so lets get this out the way. Why on earth would you want a good practical tool in a gift box with “For my lover” !! Makes zero sense to me.
The tool itself was very good, it was easy to use. You can adjust the tightness of the pins to suit whatever shape your dealing with. You can also lock the pins into the shape you need so you don’t accidentally move them when you transfer the tool to what you are cutting and ensuring an acurate trace of the required shape.
A very handy and useful tool to have. It’s not something you are going to use all the time, but when you need a contour tool it’s great to know you have one. I have lot’s of memories of cutting bits of card to make templates of shapes I had to cut out in the past, this tool is the perfect replacement for those bits of card. Being made of plastic, you can keep it in the shed without fear that when you go and get it to use it for a job it hasn’t gone rusty. It comes with an allen key so you can adjust the lock tension as is explained in the instruction leaflet. Mine was set at a good tension when it arrived so I didn’t need to adjust it. My only concern about this great tool is it’s packaging. The gauge comes in a box that resembles a romantic looking box of chocolates with For Your Lover printed on the front. It hasn’t been packed in the wrong box as on the back you have a description of the gauge’s size and possible materials and jobs it could be used on. Very strange. I still recommend this contour gauge whatever the box is like.
This is so easy to use, and the “Lock” mechanism is great, it holds the profile in place really well.
So something I think is good on this is the fact that each pin is quite small, meaning it gives a very accurate reading of any profile I offer it too, and then as soon as I have the profile, I just engage the lock, which is an easy to operate “Little lever” on one end, and the profile will stay in place ready for me to transfer it onto a template, which is such a time saver.
I like the fact that this also has a “Measure”, on both sides, one in “Inches”, and one in “Centimetres”, which means I can tell size as well as profile shape.
The fact I can also “Tighten up” or “Loosen off” the pin movement, makes it easy to make sure I get the right profile, which is great.
All in all, this is a really useful tool.
Very handy product to have about. Whether it’s to help cut your flooring about pipes etc or to even just trace around something it’s great. Pins are loose enough to easily be pushed against the shape. The lock switch is in easy reach and engages smoothly.
My only issue with it, is the branding. Great gift for men, ‘for your lover’ on the box even. Goodness I thought we were past all that. As a woman, I will be using this, on my own, without my husbands help.
This is a tool that is useful for getting the right contour when cutting things to random shapes. It does its job and works as it needs to, to help us get a neat finish, when needing to fit flooring tiles round other objects.
Id say it is only giftable to anyone other than your partner if you take it out of the box, because the box resembles the packaging that would contain a sext toy. It even says, For your Lover, on the box. Quite bizarre packaging for something that also has Pley I the name. It has been sat on the side in our kitchen for a few days and 2 people have thought it was something kinky and ive had to take it out to prove it was a tool that we were using while doing up the bathroom!
THIS SHAPE GAUGE TOOL HAS COME IN VERY HANDY,AS I HAVE JUST LAID NEW FLOORING IN OUR BATHROOM AND KITCHEN,AND I HAD SOME VERY ARKWARD SHAPES TO OVERCOME.SO ITS BEEN OF VERY VALUE TO ME,SO THANKS GUYS A WELL DESERVED 5 STARS ALL ROUND.
Had several awkward profile shapes to be cut and this item proved to be the total answer to my tasks. Very happy with the product and most probably will buy another one since it is handy to have two when one is already set to a particular profile whilst you might wish to advance onto another different profile whilst at some time being required to go back to the previous one.
I should have got one of these before. I needed to cut out a piece of wood to fit around very lumpy stone & plaster, and my usual paper and pencil method wasn’t cutting it. This really made it easy. The contour gauge is well made and easy to use – the sliding blades are pretty thin so I could get a good line, and the lock worked well.
Had to fit some laminate flooring and knew i was going to have to work around some obstacle’s. In the past i would have made up templates which can add hours to the job. Looking for a modern alternative i stumbled across this type of shape gauge. There are many on offer at amazon. I chose this one as it had a clamp to maintain the shape and also allowed some control over the “finger” tightness. it was also deeper than others making it more useful for profiles around door frames etc. It was a little more expensive than others but the features and size made it worth the little extra cost. Recommended, i have no doubt i will use it a lot in the future.
