Easy to use, does the job perfectly. Good selection of ferrules.
Good set of crimps for boot lace ferrals. Make sure to get these ones which crim round ( rather than the type with 4 jaws that give a square crimp these are much better ( also you can fit a bigger crimp in a smaller terminal.
I bought this as I had a lot for wiring to do. The tool is well made and after over 5,000 uses feels just like it did when I first used it. Contained in a nice soft case to house the tool and a box of connections its a must have item. I don’t think I will need to buy another tool again but if I do it will be this one.
Well worth purchasing these good value for this price. They crimp really nicely giving a good secure attached ferrule.
Well made well presented in a nice case. There is a great selection of pins that will fit just about every possible use. The tool works really well and is sturdy.
In my job I need something strong fast and gives a good finish, does this meet that criteria… Read on
First it’s packaged well in a soft case with the assorted crimp ferrols well laid out in the case in a boxed compartments strapped down with instructions and the crimper.
On testing found to stretch the fingers to crimp but is effortlessly easy in operation and gives a very tidy resulting crimp.
On a daily basis this has not missed a beat having had it working every day for the last five days.
Quality job so far !
For the price this is a good bit of kit, we’ll made and much cheaper than others of similar quality.
Does the job right. Easy to use, very sturdy, and the crimp is strong (it can be even adjusted). Delivered on time. I highly recommend.
Good selection of smaller connectors; sturdy pliers, good design. I chose this because I’ve bought Preciva tools previously, and found them very good value. Used this today to crimp new connectors to a replacement bulb for a halogen oven, and it did the job perfectly. I can recommend it.
Good item and highly recommend. Good value and a nice case with it too.
I laboured over whether to buy quality (expensive) – which I tend to do with tools – but so rarely have the need for this type of tool that found it hard to justify. This, as it happens, is ideal. No idea how it will fair in years to come but I have saved a fortune.
I’ve only made up a few crimps so far with this, but I’m suitably impressed already! It’s obviously a Chinese copy of Knipex at a fraction of the price, but it actually seems to be really well made and feels absolutely great in the hand and is making up some lovely crimps. I really was leaning towards getting the Knipex version, but thought it would be rude not to at least test these out first as they were such good value in comparison. So if you’re thinking the same, then don’t question it, just get these, they’re great! No clue on the longevity of them, but they do feel solid, and assuming I look after them, I reckon they’ll last a very long time indeed! Super happy
It’s perfect for DIY electronics but I doubt it would stand up to the rigors of day to day business usage. The manufacturers also seem to have cheapened the way it’s manufactured – if you look at the photos it looks in the advertisement that screws are used to assemble the 6 irising pivots promising the ability to adjust the clearance between the leaves, in my example there are just 6 rather crude rivets which are a sloppy fit and already there is a gap to be seen (photo). That doesn’t bode well for the tool having a long life. Mine is also marked 6-6A while the advertisment shows 6-6… that might explain the difference and this tool is actually a design revision.
Nevertheless at the moment it is working really well, although I did use the tightening adjustment – removing the locking screw and turning the adjustment wheel one notch clockwise. I did this because some of the smaller gauge wires I tried didn’t feel that secure in the ferrule and could be pulled out with a sharp tug, but now I’m happy with it. For sure unless it breaks unexpectedly this tool will fulfill all my ferrule crimping needs.
I should have bought one of these a long time ago. Really easy to use the tool and the included box of ferules makes this a real bargain.
Worth mentioning that the colours on the ferules indicate the size of wire they are for. It’s fine to put a blue ferule on a brown live conductor, it’s the cable colour that’s important.
Good set of crispers, could be a bit slimmer though. They provide a good strong crimp, they come in a nice little pouch and an assortment of crimps which is a nice touch.
What a great bit of kit for the money. The tool and ferrules come in a nice little zip up case (which isn’t shown in the product description). The plastic box for the ferrules is a bit flimsy but given the added case I don’t see it being a problem. Tried it out on a couple of wires and works a treat so far, the construction of the tool looks spot on. For the money I’m amazed how good this feels.
For the price this is a good tool. It wont get a lot of use so should last for some while. It is sturdy but unsure how long it would last if put into professional use.
Ordered these based on reviews, I have been a engineer for 20 years and i have only just discovered these, for years i have been trying to get multi-strand cable to hold in sockets and screw connectors, i have never been happy with the finished result, these are absolutely unbelievable, good solid crimp time after time and the finish is quality, my only regret is not discovering them sooner, 11 out of 10
As I have arthritis in my hands I found these a bit fiddly at first but once I had worked out a way to use that suits myself I found this to be a great tool. Now I can use without any problems. Fitting the wires into the ferrules and then crimping then is a very easy task with great results.
Only used about 15 of the connectors so can’t comment on durability but connections are good, crumpet works just fine and it’s making using thin stranded wires so much easier, even when I am soldering then it becomes a solid wire to attach…
not sure I’ll use the bigger ferrule sizes but for what I want it’s doing a good job
I decided to pony up a little more for this six-sided crimper, rather than the cheaper four-sided tool.
No regrets at all. This crimper feels reassuringly solid and crimps easily and reliably, with a great quality result.
The ferrule set that come with this should last for a long time, with a reasonable range of ferrules.
Neatly, both the tool and the ferrule set fit in the decent zip case.
Very happy with this!
To prepare the cable to be crimped make sure you strip off just enough insulation to go to the end of the crimp as shown in the photos, to little and you risk the wire not being in the terminal correctly, to much wire and it will stick out of the front expressively. If you are not use to stripping the cable for these crimps they you can strip to much, crimp and then use cutters to cut off the spare and the last 1mm of the crimp, not ideal but better than cutting to short.
The crimper itself works very well and despite its compact length operates easily with very little force, it is a smooth action and finishes off the crimp very well as you can see in the photos.
You get enough crimps to keep a DIY’er going for many months if not years and replacement crimps are readily available from many suppliers. The crimp storage box ‘does the job’ but not sure how long the hinges will last and everything comes supplied in a reasonable quality zip-able pouch.
In in all 5* Item!
This is a fantasic tool ive used it several times now in the last week since i bought it annd im really happy with it. Its well designed and well made. The 6 sided crimp is great and the ferrules feel alot more secure on the cable ends compared to some of the other crimpers ive used with only 4 sides. You can also adjust the crimping pressure if needed.
Comes in a sturdy zip up case which holds the tool and the included box of 1900 ferrules. In summery this is a great tool and i would definately recomend it.
Hello –
I had used other Bootlace Ferrule tools before – the two jaw Squeeze type, and never felt fully satisfied with the results, never quite sure if it was firm and getting a good “bite”, but with the multiple jaw type from Preciva there are no such worries, a work mate had the 4 jaw type and after trying it i was sold on the idea of multiple jaw crimping, and when i investigated i found that there is now a 6 jaw version, so thats the one i went for, came well packaged and with its own sturdy case and with a good supply of ferrules and a handy container to keep them all in place within the carry pouch, solid feel in the hand and looks to be made to last, I would recommend this to both pro’s and diy use.
I’m very impressed with the quality of this item. The crimping action is nice, and doesn’t require too much grip strength due to the ratchet mechanism. The sleeves get very securely attached to the wire, I’ve not managed to pull one off, despite trying! The supplied sleeves are good quality, and the plastic organiser they come in stops them getting mixed up (there is no cross-contamination when closed, even if it gets bashed about in your tool box).
The whole kit stores very nicely in the supplied zip case.
Much better than the non-ratcheting type. No reservations in recommending this over more expensive alternatives, the quality is great.
This crimp tool set is absolutely perfect for what I need. I do a lot of home projects and did have a crumpet and few crimps before, but they were getting a bit long in the tooth. For the price, I can’t see that there is anything better. You get a bucket-load of crimps of different sizes and a really solid crimp tool – not one of your cheap ones. All came packed in it’s only carry pouch. Definitely one of my wiser purchases!
Excellent piece of kit, needed to fit 60 High Bay Lights that are flex inlet to Solid stranded cables, before we would have to either convert from solid to flex which sometimes wasn’t feasible, now with these you can crimp the flex and push straight into a WAGO connector, the hexagonal crimper not only crimps more tightly than the old 4 jaw but makes for a better fit in a multitude of scenarios, all in all well worth the money especially if your like me and pride yourself on the neatness of your work
Already had a 4 jaw crimping tool do was interested in how this one would perform.
It arrived in a nice case, complete with various fittings and first appearances were good. The tool itself is well made and did a lovely job of around 100 ferules i put in a control cabinet. The tool was flawless, well worth the money and made a neater job than the 4 jaw (hexagonal instead of square). The more rounded crimped ferules seemed to fit better into certain fittings (chock block). All in all an excellent tool at a great price.
Solid, ratcheting crimp tool that self-adjusts for all the different sizes. The handles are properly moulded with rubber inlays. Easy to align and hold the crimp before cable insertion without the crimp falling out, but the ratchet can also be released so you don’t waste a crimp if you change your mind on sizing.
Decent selection of sizes. I’m using these to tidy up the wire ends for an auxiliary (ignition-switched) fuse box on my motorbike to run some accessories. It makes adding circuits to the screw terminals really easy and avoids frayed wires.
Next time I need to make any semi-permanent installation with stranded wires I’ll be reaching for these before the choccy-block!
