I’ve used this for under water shots in my films and music videos. also light underwater diving It’s easy to use, protects the camera well and a tool any go pro owner should have.
Only issue is kept fogging up , guess I didn’t use correctly.
The GoPro fits perfectly. The case is strong and well made.
Pros:
Price was right. The Quality is what I would expect for a Non-GoPro case but it is fully functional.
It works well. both Capture and Power buttons work with ease.
Tested in Pool and tested fine underwater.
Cons:
Minor gripe, it has comes with some moisture pads that you can place inside the case to help with moisture but they dont have a specific place, they just sit in there. but in no way affected the unit
Make sure you check the seal when you close up. first time I notice it wasnt sealed all the way around., just had to make sure when I close it to do so, Not a big issue just one extra piece to be aware of.
I would give it a 4.5 if I could
Great fit and finish, I replaced my original due to a broken latch. This seems much sturdier.
We bought this for our go pro to go snorkelling with on holiday. Although the go-pro is waterproof I had read some reviews they could let water in, so we bought this to save that happening.
Fantastic little case, only give you access to the 2 buttons on the go-pro but once it’s in there that’s all you need, turn on and start recording or take a photo. Well sealed, we didn’t dive deep with it but for some extra protection it works perfect.
Great sturdy case. Fits snuggly around my Go Pro. Very happy with this product.
This camera housing saved my go pro, had it connected to a wrist strap that broke. it floated and washed up ashore, tested it to 15m no problems so far. Good for the price.
Whilst the GoPro should be waterproof and scratch resistant, I got this as it’s easier to replace and cheaper than a new gopro
Definitely waterproof…. I use my go pro for exploring Abandoned mines and stuff under water and this case definitely works
Bought this for going on holiday and rhe underwater videos were awesome with thus fitted.
Took this on my dive holiday down to 30m on more than one occasion so very impressed considering the price. Very good :). The only think I would say is that at around 30m the case was visibly beginning to push in but there was no damage and the GoPro worked perfectly the whole time – no leaking or anything
Very good quality.
Cannot touch your screen, but that wasn’t an issue because I used my phone to change my go pro setting from video, camera and hyper laps. So this is not an issue at all if you have the app, which I highly recommend for those group photos.
Used the red filter on a recent dive trip to the Bahamas; worked perfectly, attached securely and had a line to attach it to so that you can take of the filter and not lose it!
Used this in the Maldives and went Scuba diving. I can confirm that it was fine at a depth of 10 to 12 metres for about 45 minutes. When I took it back to my hotel room, the GoPro Hero 7 Silver inside was still completely dry and the picture quality was still perfect and also picked up the Scuba sounds!
Excellent fit with excellent seal, not tried deeper than 2′ yet but I doubt I will have any issues so all round a very good fit to my hero 9 and we’ll built sturdy enclosure.
Got this for my trip down south. I’m rating this just 4 stars because the product did come looking like it was broken. It did however still work.
We went skin-diving with the Go-Pro Hero 8 and no water got into the case. It came with some anti-for inserts but I didn’t use them since I didn’t really understand where they had to be put.
Overall I’m happy with my purchase, the main goal was to protect the GoPro and not get it wet and the case did just that.
Good waterproof sealing of this product but thought they included anti fog concerned me about the quality of it. Worked on several snorkeling trips to the Philippines and glad I had great footage for the trip, works but not ideally the best in terms of whats out there
The only issue I found, isn’t necessarily the fault of the manufacturer. But it’s worth mentioning that when I attach this camera housing to my GoPro chest mount, I can’t face the camera forward like I want to for my fishing videos. The camera faces downwards slightly because the housing gets in the way of it facing perfectly forward. I’m hoping that if I get a head mount it will be able to capture a better angle. I should still be able to make it work. Thought it would be worth mentioning. I didn’t think the issue was worth taking away from the overall rating so I still give it 5 stars.
Bought this last minute before my trip to Indonesia as I’d tried my 2018 GoPro for diving in Egypt and it stopped working after 5mtrs down. Realised I needed a waterproof housing and wanted to get a reasonably priced one. I didn’t use the anti fog inserts and I just clipped it on over the GoPro. I am SO happy with the footage, I got incredible video footage aswell of my dive with Manta Ray. The visibility wasn’t that good on the day I went, the grainy quality is not a reflection of the housing this is exactly how I could see it with my eyes. Couldn’t be more happy with it! Thank you!
Took it bo too deep, around 20 meters on multiple dives. Fits nicely hero 9 black. Images came out very nice, case did not steam up once despite camera was exposed to very hot weather prior dropping to 19-21’C water. Overall very pleased with quality of this case. Can’t compare with original GoPro one but this met my expectations and for dives I am certified for (30M) that should do.
I especially like the silver buttons (on/off/record) which are far more effective than the GoPro8 buttons themselves (especially since I use moto gloves) as they offer much greater “tactile feel” when starting/stopping recordings.
Additionally the wing’d tip screw is perfect – much easier to tighten / loosen. No need for a separate wrench or Allen key.
Highly recommended.
UPDATE:
After a few months usage in very low depth water, I’ve noticed fog forming inside the plastic box. As such, because the GoPro8 is waterproof (to 10 meters) I’ll remove the camera from the box for filming. Then, when completely dry, I’ll add back into the box prior to mounting back on my helmet, in order to prevent fogging. No biggie.
Apparently this box allows a 60 meter depth – I’m no scuba diver so I cannot comment on that. I presume fog will still be an issue – but if you film quickly underwater it may be manageable.
