I needed a portable radio that has normal AAA batteries as well as USB. I wasn’t interested in the solar, though it could be handy in an emergency. Normally most of us have access to our laptops anyway. The weather radio is only useful for the US not the UK. I thought that would be a good thing actually, trust the UK to be behind. It looks modern and funky and I like that, and it is quite simple. You can adjust the torch setting. It is quite useful to have a good torch for camping and just for out and about as a back up. I hope to use it in the garden, hiking, camping and out having picnics. It is very good value for all the things you get, even the wind up radio too. I like the SOS thing too, it is quite loud. The volume is good and clear. I really like it. It is also light and not too tiny at all. You can easily carry it on your hand. If you can’t find the antenna, you just pull it out. I am TReally loving the Reading Light which is under the solar panel, that will be so useful particularly in the cost of living crisis
This ittle device is certinly a very nice edition to my ever growing Bugout Bag. Its a LOT smaller then id imagine but thats ok. Worth the money
It’s all it said it would be and more it’s light and the perfect size
I am now preferring to have a stock of items like this just in case, as our now multi electricity cables in Devon are always going dow
None of us know what the future holds, but I think being prepared for uncertainty is a good idea. This little unit really packs a punch, it’s solid and every element works well. Radio is clear with good volume range, crank for charging is sturdy. I’ve yet to try charging from it, but I don’t forsee any problems.
Easy to install and maintain with the separate battery departme
I bought this as a backup in the event of power cuts or long trips when you need backups for charging, light or information. Having all three is a great thing, and I noted that there is an emergency function (SOS) as well! Having an AA Battery or Lithium battery choice is useful too.
The whole thing works well but there are a couple of caveats which are rather a shame.
First the solar panel stopped working after a month. I know this because the charging light does not come on even in direct sunlight.
The second is that I reported this issue to the company nearly two weeks ago and I have not had a single response. I was hoping to find another solution than simply asking amazon for a replacement but unless they respond to this review, I will have to do it. Just be aware that at present, their customer service email is not being responded to. At least to me.
I have left this to charge several times but unless the sun is shining directly on it it won’t work. I have also tried to wind it up manually but again as soon as I stop winding it stops working, it just isn’t holding the charge at all 🙁
Bought for my husband who is planning wild camping. He is happy with it and used it during storm Eunice snd power outages.
Bought early to reduce future electricity costs and cope with possible future powecuts.
Has a piercing emergency alarm and useful reading light and torch
Good online video and long guarantee. Although wind up it takes a long time to recharge that way. Also long time to solar charge but those 2 methods are only emergency add ons. Water resistant. Would be great for camping.
Love it.
After a recent power cut for several hours I decided to purchase a wind up radio and torch for any future power cuts after the last one
The unit itself feels sturdy and will stand a few knocks.
The sound is ok it’s only a small unit so l wasn’t expecting a great sound but it is adequate and the FM tuning is impressive l have a fancy expensive dab radio that struggles to pick up Radio Leeds (about 25 miles away) on FM this Little radio tunes in no problem.
The light(s) are ok not going to light up your whole room but they are good enough to find things or read by. The added powerbank facility which can top your mobile phone up ( not sure how long it would take)? But my phone does show charging when attached to the radio and switched to the powerbank setting
so in reflection this unit would be suitable for when out camping of walking in secluded regions all in all very happy with this little uni
The first and most important thing to say about this radio is that the speaker in it is very poor quality. The solar charging seems to work okay but the item itself stopped working (I think the on off switch failed) within two months of using it. I really wouldn’t waste your money on this — but instead buy something of better quality
I ordered this on Thursday at 10 am and by 3pm the same day it was delivered. Amazing. The device it self is brilliant does what it says is dose. If ur reading this because ur 50 50 to get one. Go for it. U won’t be disappointed.
Just received item. Great delivery time. Sturdy device. User friendly. Seems like a viable object. Look forward to playing with it. Might buy another in future.
The solar panels on this thing are the best quality I’ve seen ever! I don’t even have to move closer to the window, just point it in the general direction and it immediately starts to charge, in fact when I pulled it out of the packaging I noticed there was a light on, I didn’t realise it was the indicator light showing it was charging via solar, and boy, is it fast!
The only real gripe is that the AAA battery compartment was a bit hard to open the first time and I was worried I was going to break it since the plastic it’s made from feels quite flimsy, however I have accidentally dropped it a couple of times since and there’s not a single scratch on it so it’s clearly far more sturdy than I first anticipated.
Well worth investing in for that rainy day when you might be in a power out, or out camping, the torch has a zoom feature too so that’s always a plus I guess
