Hi! I’m Jen; mum to two young children and founder of Little Acorn Games!
As a young family, we love board games! It’s as simple as that. For pure, simple, innocent fun with plenty of friendly banter thrown in, great family games are our go-to thing. It is through this love of children’s board games that I had that ‘lightbulb moment’ for our first games: Funny Fairies and PJ Pirates!
A crowdfunded beginning
Our children loved them from the start, as did their cousins, friends, friends-of-friends…after gaining an overwhelming seal of approval from them all, I founded Little Acorn Games and crowdfunded our first print run to get our games out into the world for more families to enjoy!
Multi award-winning games
I am beyond thrilled to announce that since launching, lots of people have agreed with our little play-testers: we are now MULTI AWARD-WINNING!
- Funny Fairies: Silver Medal for Board Games in the Independent Toy Awards 2020; shortlisted for the Young Einsteins Award in the Imagination Gaming Family and Education Game Awards 2021!
- PJ Pirates: Silver Medal for Board Games in the Independent Toy Awards 2021!
- Little Acorn Games: one of Theo Paphitis’s six weekly Small Business Sunday winners in July 2020!
From our family to yours…
We love what we do and have LOTS more fun ideas up our sleeves for more great kids’ board games…Funny Fairies and PJ Pirates are just the beginning!
Little Acorn Games has evolved into a real family business, created by our family to be enjoyed by yours, and we’d love you to be part of our journey!
Our aim: To instil a love for board games from an early age, helping children to reap the many social and educational benefits that playing family board games together brings!

My little one loves this game .. its just cards and a spinner , with another card to put it on . Really nothing special but it gets hours of playtime. Sometimes simple works I guess
Was a bit worried that it would be too simple for my 5 year old granddaughter, but she loved it.and it wasn’t too boring for the adults either!
My 5 years old daughter loves the game. That says it all.
This is a Christmas gift, but it looks as though we shall have great fun playing i
Bought as a gift for my almost 3 yr old granddaughter, she thinks the fairies are “pretty”. Bit too young to play the game properly yet but we are still having fun.
bought this as a present for a 4 year old and have Been told the sister 7 joins in and they have been playing with this game every night for the past week.
will definitely buy again as a present .
One of my great grandchildren texted to say she was fed up as she and her sister had nothing to do but sit around at home. I immediately looked on Amazon for something to keep them busy and amused. I saw the Funny Fairies game and had it sent to them direct. It was a good choice as days later their Mum texted to say thank you as they had all spent hours of fun with it. Problem solved! (For now!)
I bought this game for a my 3 year old niece. She played in constantly all through the 5 days I visited her. She took it home each night to play with her parents and brought it with her each visit. It does teach them the how to play a game and how to stick by the rules. You pick up cards to make a lovely fairy but they laugh at the funny fairy parts. Sometimes you have have to spin the wheel when the spell book appears. The one I was worried about was Trixie Pixie card when the other player can take a card from the other persons board. I thought she would cry when she had nearly completed her board and I took her card but to my delight she laughed. It was her first game she has ever had and it totally kept her interested. She understood the rules, how to win the game and to loose. She loved it. After the game was over she shouted “AGAIN”
My 5 year old loves this game! Surprisingly enjoyable as it is relatively simple. Would say it’s suitable for 3-6 year olds
My children aged 5 and 9 received the Funny Fairies game for Christmas. I was really impressed with the look and quality of the board game and it’s safe to say my children absolutely love it. It’s keeping them occupied for hours during rainy lockdown weekends. Thanks Little Acorn Games!
Bought or granddaughter who is nearly 5 for Christmas I think that overall this was the best present that was bought lots of fun lots of laughter she loved it and so do her pare
I haven’t opened this as it is a Christmas present. It looks good from the box.
Usually when we buy a game it gets played a few times then becomes a dust receptacle (perhaps until a festive period several years later when it might be wheeled out for a final time amidst much sneezing and coughing). We have had this game for a few months now and I honestly don’t think there’s been a week gone by without the kids wanting to play it. The levels are a particularly clever idea as we can have a quick game of level one here and there which suits our 4 year old daughter, or settle in for a level 3 session of matching the colours which our 7 year old daughter really enjoys and delights in coming up with strategies to bury others much needed cards in the discard pile. We often play as a whole family which is nice and as a 37 year old man I don’t mind admitting I really enjoy it too (maybe I’ve had my mind beaten into submission by too many years of being surrounded by fairies and princesses though)
We bought this game for my 4 year old daughter and she absolutely loves it. This can be played at a number of different levels which makes it entertaining for the whole family. It moves along at a good pace and involves constant strategy and decision making but at a suitable level for the age of the child. We have recently purchased another copy for my niece for her 6th birthday present as she has also enjoyed playing Funny Fairies with us.
We’ve survived lockdown with Funny Fairies!
I bought this game for my 7 year old son because he loves games!
He said, ‘I love it. On round 1 I really liked that it was easy to do- you could make any fairy. The other levels were not so easy because you needed to be sneaky to beat everyone else!’
He loved it so much that he wanted to play again and again!
I have now bought 2 more games for his friends (both girls).
The instructions are easy to follow and well- thought- out. The games are beautifully made- the boards and cards incredibly sturdy and the pictures are vibrant and eye-catching!
I would absolutely recommend this game for both boys and girls- lots of fun was had by all!
