This fun fox themed deduction game has a clever decoder device mechanic which is quite unique.
No two games are the same.
This is a brilliant family game, I find it a delightful mix between Cludo and Guess Who. It is easy and quick to play, though there are ways to alter the game play to make it easier and more difficult depending on the players. The board and pieces are sturdy and easy to pack away neatly at the end of play. this game has become a regular occurance in our house. I would fully recommend this for any one with children.
Such a great game which is loved by my 6 year old and his parents and grandparents too. Good fun and something we’ve all played together a lo
Arrived promptly and in good condition a great game for our 5 and 7 year olds.
We love an ‘everyone wins’ game before bed and this is perfect. It’s a really simple concept, almost too simple for my 8 and 10 year olds, but when they’re tired they still enjoy playing it and it’s not too mind numbing for the adults.
If you’re looking for co-operative games for young children I would also recommend Hoot Owl Hoot.
I love that it’s not a competitive game, players work together to solve the whodunit.
My boys aged 5 and 9 love playing it.
Brilliant game, our kids 4, 6 & 8 play so well along with us parents. It’s a Co-op style so either we all win or all lose. It’s fun after dinner game doesn’t take too long and has us all enjoying and having a great laugh. If you got a good photo of us playing you could use it as one of those stock photos used in photo frames
Good family game. Played with 12- and 7-year olds. The nice thing about it is that it’s co-op. You’re working together to get to the answer. Neat.
My 7 year old grandson is a bad loser and finding something to play with him without him cheating to win or getting upset was a pain but this game is so good for him. Rules took a bit of getting your head round but he loved it and game time is now fun again. He really likes revealing the clue and has become a lot better at players with others now, taking turns and collaborating with others on best strategy to best the fox. If the fox wins we all get beaten so no one feels left out. Great game.
All of us (aged 4 to 42) love this game! My 7 year old said she wants to play it every day. It’s so fun and nice to be cooperative. However the children still argued about who out the dice away so they’ll always find a way.
Brilliant game, my 7yo daughter loves it. Really nice in its simplicity, we all happily play it together.
Giving a star less only because we received blue, green and two yellow pawns instead of red, however this doesn’t affect the gameplay.
I bought this game for my son (5 years old at the time) and it’s now a firm favourite with the whole family (all ages!). I love the concept that you work together rather than against each other. It takes about 20 mins per game, so short and snappy but keeps everyone interested. Would definitely recommend for children of 5 years upwards.
Bought this for the 5 and 7 year old daughters. So far we’ve only played it as a family and really enjoyed it but expect they’ll be able to play on their own now they know the ropes. The fact that you work together to catch the fox is genius as one of our daughters is a particularly sore loser – working as a team sidesteps this unfortunate trait nicely! The game itself is very good quality which make a nice change these days – it’s a good solid box, sturdy board and lovely fox. Would definitely recommend as something a bit different from the usual race-around-the-board game.
Bought this for our 7 year old (who sometimes struggled with competitive games). We’ve played it every night since. That’s never happened with a board game so it must be good!
Outfoxed encourages you all to work as a team, find clues, uncover suspects and track down the thieving fox before he makes his way off the board.
The game’s pretty well balanced. The fox hasn’t escaped yet, but he’s come close. There are rules to make it more difficult as well, if you want to.
I’d recommend this game to anyone with young children, especially if games that involve winners and losers have caused tears before.
I was recommended this game and bought it in good time for my grandson’s birthday and the price seemed excellent. Unfortunately he has just opened it and there are 2 sets of playing cards and no decoder. As the game is unplayable without the decoder I’m going to have to return it. However now (in the midst of the Covid-19 outbreak) is not a good time to return items and the game is not now available in the UK, the only quoted price being over 65! Somehow I’m going to have to retrieve it from my grandson, difficult as I’m self-isolating, and return it before I can get a refund… What a shame.
Further to the above, Amazon agreed the refund without the game having to be returned first. Have now been in contact with Gamewright in the US who apologised for the lapse in quality control and have offered to send a free replacement as soon as they are able (current restrictions allowing). Good outcome just a pity it happened in the first place.
Bought for my 5.5yo daughter who loves card and board games. Liked that it teaches problem solving by cooperation, as my daughter is ruthlessly competitive and a bit of a cheat given half the chance. She loves this and demanded to play it deveral times a day for the first week. We worked together to beat the fox. She loved the excitement when the fox moved forward and loved that for each turn she got to consider whether she wanted to reveal suspects or find a clue. I found the board moves a bit limited and boring – you basically only move back and forth between two spots that are the shortest distance apart so you don’t move around the whole board – the board is really there for the fox. It could be improved if they designed it so there was more of a visual physical race against the fox on the board, instead the race is to reveal suspects and through the clues eliminate them until you are able to guess the foxes true identity. Good fun nevertheless.
Good wee game, my 5 year old really enjoys finding the thief! Knocked a star off because we found the fox’s movement (essentially the game timer) to be a bit erratic. Some games he would whizz to the end in no time, other games he would hardly move at all. Not a huge deal for such a quick/light game, but may have to house rule in future.
My copy of the game came with green dots or nothing on the thief cards, which I think sounds more intuitive than green and red dots.
Unfortunately my copy arrived with two sets of Suspect cards, rather than a one set of Suspect and one set of Thief cards. Puzzle Shop were great in getting some replacement thief cards to us though, so thanks to them for that. We managed to fashion a couple of our own to be able to play a few games in the meantime
