Feeding Tips

- Once you have started to feed the birds it is important to continue this, and develop a routine, as the birds will become reliant upon your help.
- Provide food throughout the whole year especially during breeding, nesting and fledgling periods.
- Locate feeders stations near cover so that they’re easily accessible, but not too close if there is a risk of predators.
Hygiene
- Always ensure garden birds have plenty of fresh clean water for drinking and bathing
- Clean feeding and drinking areas regularly with a mild disinfectant
- Keep food fresh and dry, removing any wet food to prevent the spread of bacteria and diseases

Sadly it does not come with an extra pole without a stake attached so that it can be used with the gardman base. Fortunately I was able to use the old one from my previous purchase years ago. It does not feel as sturdy because of this but am hoping it will withstand the battering it will get in extreme weathers.
This is really a very good garden bird feeder when combined with the heavy base. Other reviewers have said that with this combo the pole is too short – but that is not correct. You have to change over the plastic insert that fits into the top of the base and then the whole pole of the feeder, including the ground spike, will fit into it, making the whole thing nice and tall – any taller and you would need a step ladder to fill the feeders. It is very sturdy and when combined with the squirrel baffle (sold separately) it has kept our tribe of very enthusiastic squirrels at bay. Our only issue has been pigeons who sit on the water bath or seed tray and help themselves to everything in the feeders. The trays will have to be moved! A very good purchase.
I liked the design of this feeder but i still do not think bird feeder stations are sturdy enough. It was windy last night and the water feature was blown away.
Bought to replace another feeder of the same make will been to deteriorate after several years. Decided to put this in a tub of concrete before burying in the soil in the hope that it will stay straight for longer.
Found the screw connections between the 3 pole section was quite tricky. Each screw connection had to be done to both sections of pole. It could to screwed to far into one section and then the other section would not connect, it required a bit of trial and error. The screw elements also felt a bit flimsy. Only time will tell if product is sturdy and weather resistant. Other components good.
The way the water and tray mounts connect the pole are great. They can easily be readjusted in their height and can be easily removed without having to slide them off the end of the pole with their spiraling mounts and push on connections.
The base of this unit also has a stabilizing spike (which also makes it much easier to push into harder ground as you can step down on it as well. Although Gardman sells a separate set of stabilizing spikes, you might not need them.
The rods connect together are threaded, so when pulling up on the post the sections won’t separate which was also a problem in the old version.
Feeding station itself was fine but we also purchased the Gardman patio stand to use with it , and unfortunately we cannot position the feeding station pole in the stand so that the pole is vertical, even when using the reduction rod which came with the feeding station.
Bought this for the brand because I have other Gardman products. Top OK but mechanism to screw poles together flawed. Inserts either too far into pole to get any purchase or loose and come out. Insufficient to carry weight of top part and fell apart during construction.
Had to get my Partner and tool kit to remove all the shiny metal screw inserts with pliers and build from scratch.
Now it’s up and operstional it’s fine
The colour cream does look very nice against the green of our shrubbery and think it will wear well if it is looked after. The birds are a little cautious of it at the moment but they usually are with anything new in their space, even a new coloured feeder will give them the jitters!
Delivery was quick which was surprising but the packaging was over the top for what it required.
Otherwise very pleased and would recommend you buy one if you love are feathered friends!
