This review is for the Icy Chestnut hair dye: It was easy to apply and came out a nice dark red brown colour. The conditioner it comes with smells divine and made my hair feel so soft. The picture isn’t very good but this is right after washing it off. My hair was a lighter brown colour before with some old highlights and lots of grey. I’m pleased with it. Will definitely re-purchase.

Been having full heads of foil for ash blonde at 100 a go every 6 weeks taking ages so brought garnier blonde. As expected blonde went well but roots yellow. Read reviews and thought why not. My hair is now exactly what I’ve been trying to get with 2 hairdressers over 2 years BUT go a blonde first as it needs to lighten. Feels soft, smooth and people have been asking who’s my hairdresser. Couldn’t be more happy x

I decided to go a few shades darker and chose this product. Left it on for the stated time, but it went quite a lot darker than I thought. I’m not displeased, actually I rather like it! Nice, glossy finish, great grey coverage. Everyone’s been complimenting my hair and it’s condition, so I can’t complain! I would say though, that it wasn’t quite the colour I was expecting and that may well be an issue for some people

Has all your usual box dye contents; gloves, 2 part dye and a great after care conditioner.

Doesn’t have an unpleasant smell and doesn’t stain skin. I definitely recommend if you are looking for a box dye. Cheap and affordable and couldn’t ask for more. Hope this helps.

Loved the colour. It was exactly what I was looking for. My hair was very warm and orangey yellow after bleaching it. This neutralised the warm, yellow, orange tones and helped me achieve the perfect colour. It came out exactly like the picture on the box.

The box was still in tact. Only needed the one as I have short hair. Would recommend 2-3 for longer hair.

I tried this hair dye recently and found it to be so much better than my previous one. There is almost no ammonia smell, it’s hassle free, goes on really well and leaves a lovely colour and condition to my hair.

The colour was beautiful red and took really well on my hair
But after a couple of weeks the colour faded and wasn’t a nice red anymore and faded
So I’m guessing if u want the colour to be nice for a while you would have to dye it every couple of weeks to keep up with the colour
But I would definitely buy again in the future

OK, so I was using Olia 4.15 iced chocolate for years but it is getting more & more expensive so I thought I’d try something else. I didn’t have much confidence in either shade or quality of this product at 1st..i chose 4.15 icy chestnut..but wow! I’m so impressed! It is super close, if not identical, in shade to the olia I was using. I have very thick, long hair that is bum length so 2 packs needed & my hair grows really quickly so have to touch up my roots every 2 weeks to re-cover the greys ..The colour has absolutely no smell, either on application or afterwards. The dye is really thick – so no drips, running or mess. It absolutely has covered every single grey, unlike the olia (when I say grey, it is white) The conditioner smells lovely too. My hair is so soft & incredibly shiny. Since I started colouring my hair, some 26 yrs ago, (I’m now 47) this is by far the best product I’ve ever used! (in my opinion) There’s nothing negative I can say about this product. It does everything I could want in an at home hair dye. I really love it! I’ve enclosed photos of my hair length.. my grey, (but not all of it) how it looks in natural light and also how it looks under artificial light.

First time I tried this dye and Really liked it. Was pleasantly surprised with the smell had a nice sweet scent to it. Didn’t cause any irritation or itching at all. Covered greys nicely though I left it for a good 40 minutes as my greys are stubborn. It covered my roots. If I was to do all my hair I think would need two boxes as my hair is long and thick. Conditioner that comes with it smells lovely. Mid brown colour that’s nice I would buy this again.

I have tried endless professional 10+ products and none have gave me the ash blonde I love like this. I am using this product continuously for over 2 years and couldn’t be happier. Obviously I highlight my roots with professional highlighter for the desired result. It might not work for everyone, but it works for me

I love this colour it’s cover’s all my grey it leaves your hair feeling soft and natural looking colour and the wild rose essence people think I put some kind of spray on my hair I say no it’s the new look colour this works for and I will never change from this product. 5 +++++

Decided to give this a go despite some very negative comments about the colour. My hair is a mid – light brown but in the sun can turn very gingery. I wanted to tone down the red but not go really dark.
The product smells pleasant and has a creamy consistency , most colourants are runnier than this so it Didn’t drip all over the place which was a bonus. The after care conditioner is useless but I used it anyway to neutralise the colourant and then applied my own. I left the colour on for 25 minutes and the result is a lovely light brown shade which I wanted. I will definitely use this again.

Arrived on time and well packaged.

I have used many dyes in the past but this was the first time I have used this make and colour. I am very pleased with the result.
The colour was simple to mix and went on easily. It had a pleasant smell which wasn’t too strong. My hair felt very soft after using and the colour was very natural. It also covered the few grey strands I have without issue.
I will definitely be using this colour again.
I applied this dye to dry hair. My natural colour was light to mid brown with beginnings of grey throughout.
Very happy with this product.

It’s a really nice product. Will work perfectly as shown in the picture if your hair is light( white ot blonde).
My hair was pure black I did not bleach. The hair did not turn red at all, but left a red highlight. It is really nice.

So after a disaster trying to dye my hair a pale pink-I ended up with a peachy pink mess-I had to cover over my disaster and after checking out the reviews I found this one. I don’t usually go for a darker brown but as it was going over a peachy colour I hoped it wouldn’t be too dark. I’m so glad I went for it, the dye is easy to use, has no over powering smell and didn’t sting my scalp at all, something I’m sensitive to. The colour is certainly brown but has a lovely subtle red in the light, I’m really pleased and will buy again when needed. Great product!

My daughter asked me to colour her hair for the first time on virgin non dyed hair. She wanted to have lighter shades of the red, so stripped a few key pieces with cream bleach first and then applied this Ruby red after the bleach was rinsed out (used two boxes to make sure I had enough). She was very happy with the result. Will definitely buy again.

Great hair colour, I do mine every 4 weeks to keep grey covered, love the smell of the conditioner
I actually wash my hair and leave in a towel hair wrap for about 10 minutes so its towel dried and then colour it, I know if says do it from dry but i have long thick hair and having it damp makes it so much easier to get a even coverage and the colour results is no different as I have tried it both ways

Didn’t make my hair platinum blonde, but I’ve only used it once. My hair is a bleached blonde pixie cut. My roots are 70% very light grey and 30% very dark brown. This dye completely got rid of my dark roots and left them platinum blonde! On the rest of my hair, this removed loads of brassy tones and gave me a lovely shade of super light blonde, without brassinese. Bye bye Bet Lynch.

Great price but doesn’t come with application brush or mixer pot so bear that in mind. Didn’t achieve the colour on the front of the packet but it evened out the tones so happy with result.

As she is obviously still at school and like most high schools they only allow natural colours. This is not too far from her own colour but enough that she feels like she is making a change. Enough to make her feel that she needs to re-do it as her “roots” are showing through. Blind man on a galloping horse wouldn’t notice but as she’s on the spectrum if it keeps her happy I’m OK with it.

She has asked if she can go a shade darker but I feel that would be more noticeable for school so have refused the next jump.

Easy enough for her to use on her own, though she prefers to ask her Dad for help. Her hair feels nice and soft afterwards and is cheap enough for her to colour once a month.

Beautiful colour, looks very natural. Stylist at salon wasn’t sure if it was dye or my natural colour. Full coverage by far my favourite of this brand. Not so keen on the chestnut brown as it doesn’t take very well and requires multiple applications but the ‘precious light brown’ dye surprised me!

I was skeptical about ordering this hairdye due to the reviews stating that it turned their hair a dark brown. However, after a few months I caved in and bought 2 boxes. I am naturally a brunette and have been dying my hair for over 22 years and recently bleached it to a light ash blonde. My hair is semi damaged but nothing that cannot be fixed. This colour I had wanted to take off early due to what the reviews said, I only ever wanted a dark blonde/very light brown. However, being a busy family with 3 kids meant that i actually left it on for about 45 minutes. The hairdye colour when the hairdye was on looked jet black and I became worried. Upon rinsing it off though, my hair is a lovely dark blonde and is the colour shown on the box,maybe a tad lighter. Maybe I got lucky? I don’t quite know. Both of the boxes did a good job.
Downsides were though that they were delivered appalingly, we had boxes open,stuff missing and stuff broken.
Usually 2 hair dye boxes will be more than enough for my hair, I usually only use 1 box and 1/4 of a second. However with this hairyde I would have needed 3 so I will have to purchase another and have blonde hair ontop for another day or so. The bottles are not your typical box dye size and the amount of liquid you get in them is abysmal. Always buy more than what you need in this case.

I am dying my hair for nearly 30 years now, and I never had anything like this.

The colour is great, it covers the grey I have very well, and it does a good job.

This format of dye is great for those who only do partial dying, as the content of the bottles can be measured and put away until next time, which is great.

However, I did not know and didn’t see it anywhere that you need a bowl and extra applicator brush, so for me it was a real pain to apply this.

I had to sacrifice one of my good cereal bowls, and ended up using my hands as I am not willing to buy an extra brush only for one application.

It took me ages to apply it throughout my hair, which is shoulder blade length (I always use two packages of dye anyways) and I ended up with not having enough and trying to distribute everything equally.

As said, might be great for partials, but not worth it for only one time application.
