I only really got this game for campaign really as I had gears 4 in the pass and im not really a online player but I found the campaign enjoyable at times I just wish it was longer.
It’s Gears, it’s big guns and building bases and blowing up monsters and robots and I love it! I’m not a gamer of any type and this is the only game I have ever bothered with so you can take my opinion as a very very casual player.. but It’s got big guns and building bases and blow….
10 out of 10 for packaging, I’ve always wanted my games and movies to be packed this way Inside a large box with Styrofoam the reason for this method, preventing the box from any pressure and the disc popping out well done.
Brilliant game I bought it for my partner but I love to watch him play and by what I watched the games really good and well worth the spend. story lines very amaze balls really drew me in.
Well worth the wait for game to come out and even better it was half price. Another success in the gears adventure, this one does not disapoint in challenge and story line. Fully enjoyed it as much as its predecessors and would highly recommend it as a key xbox purchase… 5 stars

I’m not one to write reviews really, but I’m a little weary of seeing the negative reviews on this. It’s a great game, true to its type whilst kicking it up a knotch in the graphics and overall experience department. I especially liked the new weaponry and side missions – I enjoyed upgrading Jack along the way. The combat comes together well in this mixing up hand (which has been developed into something better than before) as well as just out and out good shooter, everything feels much more interactive which I just felt boosted the game’s immersement levels.
Overall, I love it. Really stayed true to Gears, loved the storyline, collectables and got me itching to sink masses of time into it very quickly (which as a mum of three is not easy!). Great return for Gears, if they continue along this line, I’d love another installment.
Love this game and amazon delivered it to me on the day of the release. Also the price dropped after I received it and amazon gave me back the difference. Excellent product and brilliant service from Amazon.
Although the writing and dialogue can be a bit questionable the game is so much fun that you’ll look past that and end up enjoying yourself more than you’d think. A definite buy especially if you love Gears Of War.
You can easily get lost searching for collectibles in the campaign, or just power though and leave them, you’re not forced either way. I found myself just wandering around looking for items, getting distracted by the amazing graphics (they’re not as good as other games of this gen but still look great). There are a couple of instances where you can make choices, although there’s very few, the decisions are big ones.
The multiplayer is good, with some solid new maps, weapons and characters. All of the game modes are easy to get into, and run really well, with Escape being a nice new addition.
The only gripes are the infrequent crashes (once every 2, 3 hours) and the slightly confusing levelling up system – you earn experience in one place, complete challenges to improve your rank in another, and then have to work stupidly hard to get iron to customise your characters/ weapons. Hopefully they add more options soon too.
I wish they’d included Beast too…
Overall great game and I’ll continue to play for the foreseeable future!
I’m a massive fan of this game; I own the whole franchise, so my review may be a bit biased. But I’ll say it anyway: this game is FANTASTIC! I didn’t think that it was possible to improve on an already perfect franchise. However, true to form, they managed; they’ve turned this game into a Gears meets Resident Evil type fare — it’s EXTREMELY dark, much darker than it had ever been before. I also enjoy the little side missions that they included to upgrade Jack. They add much needed longevity to what SEEMS like a short game. This game is brilliant.
Gears 5 is one of the best looking games this generation. All modes are present and enjoyable. They have brought back multiplayer split screen. Very enjoyable game not sure why there are so many negative reviews.
although i feel that gears 3 had more blood and gore compared to this game, it is still truly amazing
