This is awesome! This was is one of the sharpest tools I have used and so lightweight. Pruned a tree in record time with ease even though I have arthritis in my hands. So comfortable to use, no blisters for a change and no pain in my hand. They are really well made and good quality and great price too.
It is little and very slightly flexible
So good for small jobs with nice sets of teeth
BUT a little worried about over stressing it
Time will tell how long it will last
Potentially very good
I used this while renovating the fencing and decking in my garden over the summer (not just this saw, that would have taken me years to finish. But I used it as part of my toolkit).
In a nutshell:
Things I liked:
+ Brilliant for getting into small nooks and crannies. I used it to shape parts of fence posts, decking boards, sticking out bits of fence panels in awkward areas and even to cut small corners off the decking frame. This could do the job when a standard wood saw was simply too big and cumbersome.
+ Really handy to have two different edges, each with different teeth.
+ It had no problem lasting the duration of the project and came out the other side intact and still in decent condition.
Things I didn’t like:
– It takes a long time to cut with this, particularly at certain difficult angles.
– After you’ve been using it for a length of time, you really see why saw handles are shaped the way they are. My hand would ache after using this for a long time.
Do I recommend it?
It was invaluable in my project because it made cuts that literally nothing else could access, so for that reason, I have to recommend it. But it’s not a replacement for a good wood saw, it is designed to complement one.
I brought this as I want something sharpe but flexible. It’s both those things. And nice strong steel but also flex’s. Haven’t had a chance to use it much but from experience so far I’m happy
This comes nicely packaged with plastic covers over the blades.
The blade is around 5 inches long and very flexible so would be well suited to flush cutting.
The handle is made from wood and is nicely engraved.
The blade is double edge with one side suitable for rough cutting hardwood and the other for fine cutting soft wood.
This is a pull saw meaning that it cuts on the reverse stroke typical in Japanese woodcraft.
There’s also a small hole for hanging.
At RRP of 18quid this is quite pricey but can be purchased for half that price making it fair price.
The portable pull saw, is good quality and nice and lightweight. The blade is very sharp. This is ideal for wood crafts and small DIY projects. The blade is quite bendy but seems very strong. It did take a little getting used to as I’m used to using a normal push and pull saw, but it does work well when you get it right. It has a nice beachwood handle which is well made and comfortable to hold. The only problem I have is that the only protection of the blade or yourself is a cardboard sleeve which won’t last long, would be perfect if it had something stronger to protect yourself and the blade from damage.
Great saw, I got this to cut little dowels and close to other bits of wood and this cuts nice a flush.
Very good at this amd I also cut a 4 by 2 and its much better than my normal saw. Much quicker. Very happy with my purchase
The Japanese Hand Saw by GLORITY is a must-have tool for any woodworker, carpenter, or DIY enthusiast. This pull saw is lightweight and ergonomically designed, making it easy to handle and maneuver while cutting through wood.
The SK-5 steel blade is incredibly sharp and durable, ensuring that it can handle any cutting task with ease. The 6-inch blade features double-sided cutting edges and has a tooth pitch of 11/17TPI, which makes it perfect for cutting through soft and hard woods.
One of the standout features of this Japanese Hand Saw is its three-sided cutting edges, which allows for more efficient and smoother cuts. The beechwood handle is also comfortable to hold and provides a secure grip for added control while cutting.
I have been using this saw for various woodwork projects, and it has exceeded my expectations. The blade cuts through wood like butter, and the saw’s lightweight design allows for more precise cuts without causing fatigue in the hands.
Overall, I would highly recommend the Japanese Hand Saw by GLORITY to anyone looking for a reliable and efficient saw for their woodworking or DIY projects. It is well-made, durable, and versatile, and I’m very satisfied with my purchase.
Lightweight and easy to hold. It just feels like the natural way to saw. Very good for small jobs. Two different saw blades depending on the material to be cut. I am using the coarse-tooth blade on cuting pipe and the finer tooth blade on wood. Has a nice patterned handle as well. I recommend it.
A beautiful looking Japanese hand saw, good addition in my toolbox. This saw is an excellent tool for woodworking enthusiasts and professionals alike. This saw is made of SK-5 steel, which is a high-quality steel that is known for its durability and ability to hold a sharp edge. The 6-inch double-sided flexible blade is perfect for cutting through a variety of materials, including wood, plastic, and metal.
Handle is easy to grip on and feels comfortable while working. Packaging and design is ideal to gift someone who love working with woods.
Good tool with a nice finish and practical design. Very useful for small jobs but for something that necessitate long time and more effort I still recommend to use a bigger and proper saw . Is doing the job and is easy to store also.
A small lightweight, double sided hand wood saw with one side of the serrated edge designed and recommended for soft wood and the other side more suited to hard woods.
It’s a compact design , the blade is a tad bendy but is made from hardened steel so it tough and durable if used correctly and looked after.
I would have liked some kind of sheath or protective case for storage and safety reasons , it just comes in a thin cardboard box.
The handle looks nice , it’s made from beechwood with a nice design burnt into it.
It’s comfortable to hold and grip when sawing , I’ve only used it to saw off some small branches that were growing out of an old tree log , but it cut through them with ease.
I wouldn’t use this saw for really heavy duty work , I think it’s a good craft saw , I could use it for carving projects , crafts , woodwork , I’m sure it will come in handy but a sheath or case would have been better , I’ll have to find something for it.
The blades are really sharp on both sides of the saw , it cuts really well , I like the unique design , it’s different to other folding saws I have and a pleasure to use.
If it came with a case or sheath I’d have given it 5 stars , a useful little handsaw for wood craftsmen, carving , nice looking handle.
A nice little pull saw (although one can go back and forth with it and it cut OK).
I have used it to cut some branches on a dry very hard wood tree and it worked really well, in fact I found it better on hard wood than soft wood, I found the blade was a bit bendy on soft wood / fresh branches.
Overall a nice saw to have in ones toolbox.
I got this on a bit of a whim, I love my hobby level woodwork and thought this looked like a really interesting tool. The good news is I can see my self using it more and more frequently, as its small and allows for accurate cuts for joints and where you need either a thin cut or need to trim off something like a dowl flush. The wooden handle and blade both look to be good quality and see this tool lasting in my tool collection for a long time.
My husband, the keen gardener in the family, absolutely loved this knife. He’s used it for trimming trees and bushes mainly and it’s worked perfectly for that.
It’s sharp enough for even the thicker branches and it stays sharp throughout. If there are thicker branches, he’s used it as a bit of a saw and it’s perfect for that as well.
This saw works fine for light jobs where surface finish doesn’t matter too much. It’s reasonably flexible but not as much as higher-quality saws I’ve used in the past.
I think I’ll likely use it to prune bits in the garden rather than for any ‘real’ woodworking.
If you’re looking for a lightweight pull saw that is well made, reasonably cheap and will get light use, this should do the job.
This little saw is really handy for around in the shed, I have just it a few times for trimming bits of rough wood but I found it great in the garden for trimming the bushes as well, The blade is pretty flexible and it has quite rough teeth so i am not sure it would be so good for a nice clean finish on woodworking, At the moment it is at 18.99 but there’s a 20% off voucher so with the discount its quite a good buy really for what it does.
This is quite a nice little hand saw. Good for crafting etc but nothing too heavy.
The blade is sharp on both edges and it appears to be quite well-made.
The blade is also very flexible but here lies my only doubt. The blade is good but I wonder how long the flexing and pressure will last where it goes into the handle. It doesn’t feel robust enough to me.
So far so good though.
Nice size and very sharp. However, it’s very lightweight and the blade is very flexible so no good as a push saw.
The teeth are extremely sharp but as it’s coated it’s difficult to guage how long this will last before it’s blunt
The blade is held into the handle with two rivets which doesn’t give me confidence in stability while sawing hard wood.
It’s suitable for small occasional jobs but for bigger more regular use I would advise paying a little more and getting a more robustly built one
This is a well made hand saw. It is thin and has some flexibility to it. Both sides can be used, both have different cutting capacity, one for softer and one for harder wood. The blade is well attached to the handle and should not come off. Overall it is durable and useful. We need a small, practical saw to cut wood pieces for use at our allotment and this is perfect for that. Very light way, requires some pressure and strength to cut through.
Hi, it’s nicely made and feels good when using it, it’s good for quick cuts or fine works, I wouldn’t use it for flush dowel cutting as the teeth stick out slightly and might scratch finished work, but it’s a good saw and will be useful for any woodworke
This is quite thin and a little bit bendy but not so bendy that it whips as you cut. Its 31 cm long with 15cm of that being the bladde section.
The teeth on one side are for hard wood, I tested it with some spare decking and it does a good job of creating a neat clean cut when drawing back towards you.
The other side is for soft wood, this works well on pine wood. You cant use the soft teeth for hard or the hard for soft so it is well designed.
Its good for cutting small joints neatly and makes a useful hand tool for this purpose.
Comes with plastic slide-on sawtooth guards .
Good addition to a carving tool set.
Really nice and comfy to hold. Great for smaller projects ta than having to lug put a jigsaw or mitre saw. Great that it’s double sided. It’s also helpful that it’s labelled which side is for hard which is for soft.
Handy to have in tool bag. Very pretty design on handle. Very sharp.
This saw is my introduction to Japanese saws which cut on the pull rather than the push stroke.
After getting to grips with it I don’t think I would ever go back to push saws.
This little saw has fast become is one of my favourite tools.
It’s very sharp and accurate and its flexible blade means it can go where other saws can’t.
It doesn’t require the same amount of effort that a push saw does. In fact too much effort will cause the blade to flex so bear that in mind.
It’s perfect for fine tuning cuts, and for making smooth end cuts. Often it’s so precise that no sanding is required.
It has a double edged blade which deals equally well with both hard and soft woods.
This is an excellent saw in my opinion and fantastic value for money.
It’s definitely easy to use, makes beautifully straight cuts and is a must have for the toolbox.
I hope you find my review helpful.
