Just played this game and so far so good, was easy to setup and use with the iPad, instructions were simple enough to follow, the videos are informative but don’t always help with answers to the questions, questions are moderate level our 6 year old knew quite a few of the answer where we didn’t. Would definitely recommend this game, ignore the recommended ages on the game.
Great interactive game grand kids loved it we played it on a smart tv so the video clips where exceptional
Absolutely love this game. Easy rules to follow, and it’s lovely watching the little videos. We’ve played it loads of times and nothing has been repeated so far.
This is a really cool board game. i have played things like Terraforming Mars, Gloomhaven, Star Wars Empire Assault and many others.
It has an interactive feature involving clips in HD for the show and the board game. It will ask you a question at the end. The game can be played in teams if you have a bigger family but it comes with 4 pieces.
If you, like me, are also trying to show your child educational stuff as well as just letting them watch Disney all day through the pandemic lockdowns, then this is a great way to interact and test them. Even as young as 3 years old but it is important to try to get them to play with you.
This is a great tool that will capture their attention well. At least for 20-30 mins
This is a lovely quality product. Can be played with the cards provided or by using the online questions and videos from BBC. Great for kids and adults who love animals.
Whole family love this game.We highly recommend for everyone who love animals and like to learn about them.
Every Tuesday is board game night in our house, so it was lovely to get a new one to try out with the family this month. We love watching animal documentary’s so was looking forward to playing this.
You can either play this game using the question cards or interactive online using a tablet. If playing online questions you need to go to a web site address and input the code. Online is the best way to play to be honest as the videos are nice to watch.
The game is very simple to play and can be up and running in no time. The player that is in the lead after 8 rounds of questions is the winner.
I like the fact that the boxy isn’t massive and it all folds away neatly. It could do with more question cards though as you only get 32 and once you’ve played it that way a few times you’ll know pretty much all the answers. But like I say online is really where this game needs to be played.
This is a game based on the award winning Earth/Blue Planet documentaries made by the BBC so we knew it was going to be very informative before we even started playing the game on Christmas Day. Up to 4 players can play at once, the main thing you need though is access to a phone or tablet as you have to enter your game code from the game instructions to play the game properly. Once the game is set up and you have your tablet or phone ready you are good to go. Short videos are played and then you are given a choice of answers to guess. The aim is to guess the answer correctly and advance around the board to be the winner. We felt the videos and questions were more suited to teenage children and adults as the questions could be quite tricky but a whole lot of fun. This is a very high quality game and we had lots of fun playing it a well as learning lots of facts at the same time, highly recommend this game if you are looking for something different to play.
This is a nice idea which you can learn about animals while you play.
You can play together with up to 4 persons. Basically, you will watch 8 rounds of videos. After each round, you will need to answer 3 multiple choice questions, and you can collect 2 point cards for each correct questions you answered or 1 point card if you got the answer wrong. After each round, you will look at the cards you collected. if you get 3 of the same cards then you can move the number of step shown on those cards. After the 8 rounds, the people who moved the furtherest win.
The videos are quite interesting, they don’t necessary tell you the answers for the multiple choice questions, you will need some guessing there. but some questions are related to the videos, so pay attention while watching!
I think this is a nice game to learn more about the animals while playing the game. the videos are interesting and the animals are very cute. My kids recognised some videos which she said she watched it before on tv. I think they are from the animal programmes on BBC.
So the idea is good but you will need a device such as a computer, iPad to play the videos. Also, the videos are repeated. when we played the second time, the same videos showed up again. Although I don’t mind some videos being repeated but I hope there will be more videos so they won’t be repeated too often.
I played this game with 2 of my daughters, the youngest being 11.
It’s a fairly simple game: 8 rounds, with 3 questions in each round. Answer a question correctly and you win an animal card. At the end of the round, everyone gets a bonus card (I think this is just in case people don’t answer any of the 3 questions right – to be kind and give them something!). Then, you can use the cards you’ve collected to move your animal around the board – the cards have different values – plus some cards allow you to take a card off another player. The player at the back gets to play their cards first, which is good as this is advantage, especially if you’re stealing cards! After 8 rounds, whoever has moved the furthest around the board is the winner!
We played the interactive version on our Samsung smart TV (2019). The format is this: you watch a short animal video (around 30s usually) and then answer 2 questions, then watch a second short video and answer the 3rd question.
It worked well to start with, but after 2 rounds, we found the 2nd video wouldn’t play. We continued the game on a Windows laptop and it worked fine. This is why we’ve only rated the game 4 stars. The game also has photocards so you can play a version with those, but it’s not as fun.
The videos are excellent and through them and the questions you get to learn about the animals featured.
My 11 year-old daughter won the game which is great as children have as much chance of winning as adults.
Aside from the video glitch on the smart TV, it’s a well designed game that I’m happy to recommend.
So I have mixed feelings about this board game. On one hand I absolutely love it, it’s fun for the whole family and the facts are really cool. However they aren’t easy so for most children under 6 this game would be a total guess. The interactive part is fun and the videos are great to watch but I could only make one round with the same questions work on the website though, maybe they will add more on soon.
Another thing I liked is it wasn’t solely reliant on using the website you can also use the question cards that come with it. The rules are a little complicated and take sometime to understand but once you’ve got it they’re fine and the game is fun!
Overall this is a good game and you would play it again and again so I would recommend.
This is a great game to play with the family, it’s a good way to do something educational while still having fu
I had been eying up this game for a while so I was excited to try it out. I love animals and watch most of the BBC nature programmes so I wasn’t sure how I would find this game. Up to four people can play this game which isn’t very many really, but there is no reason that if you have more people you couldn’t split into teams to play. The rules read well and it seems simple enough but once we started playing we realised that it was more complicated than it first appeared but it was also easy to adapt to work for us. The videos are great quality and definitely add to the game but it is a shame that this board game does involve screens, but I will forgive that. The questions asked after each video generally relates to what you saw but they are often don’t tell you the answer. The questions can be quite challenging and I can see why the age range is 8+, although I’m sure that many slightly younger children would enjoy this game. And as it is multiple choice you can always guess! The cards are good quality and the board folds up for storage in the sturdy box that it comes in. My children are ten and they loved playing this, we played for about 45 minutes before they were ready to do something else. I loved that this game worked for children and adults and challenged both. This will definitely be a well used game in our house.
This is a fantastic well thought out game, my kids have loved playing this so far and as a family it is really fun. It is suitable for many ages and with it being the BBC earth/ blue planet is a great way to learn and have fun at the same time.
We found it very interactive thanks to being able to connect it to any smart enable device to answer the questions as you make your way around the board.
The quality of the board and bits included are good.
Overall we have enjoyed playing this and can not wait till the next time.
We all love a board game, and if it’s educational too, then get this!
This is Goliath Games BBC Earth Animals, interactive board game. Out of the box you get 4 player pieces (polar bear, lion, chimp and dolphin), 32 double sided photo cards, 55 animal cards, 12 ABC answer discs a fold out phone / tablet holder and instructions.
You will need a tablet / phone with Internet connection for this game, so to start go to http://www.bbcearthboardgame.com and enter code on the back of the instructions (8 digits). The if you don’t, then donic panic, there are 32 photo cards with questions on to use manually!
Shuffle the animal cards, players choose game piece, ABC game discs and receives 2 animal cards. Place the remaining animal cards in the space on game board and put chosen game pieces on the 1-4 slots, youngest lowest.
Now press start on the on the device you are using and a video will play. At the end of the video a question will be asked, everyone place their ABC answer face down in. When the video reveals answer, reveal players answers. Each player who got it right receives an animal card from the top of the pack. Then press next to move onto next question.
Each round has 3 questions and 2 videos. At the end of each round every player receives an animal card on top of the ones they have (or haven’t won).
The player in last place goes first, and work backwards. You start from the arrow circle, and continue round clockwise. With the animal cards if you have 3 turtles you move 3 spaces, 3 tigers 7 spaces, 3 Penguins 5 spaces, one of each 2 spaces, a card with all 3 animals can substitute any chosen animal. If there is a player on your circle, move onto next available one. You can play multiple card sets on any one turn.
You can play an elephant card and steal an animal card from any opposing player without looking. But if you have a giraffe card you can view the cards and steal one.
At the end of your turn, you can only have 4 cards max, any more, you will have to put back at the bottom of the pile.
The winner is the player in first place after 8 rounds. Phew.
Overall I thoroughly recommend this game, as it is amazing fun and really interesting. I love wild life and the kids faces watching the videos was a treat. Brilliant.
This game will make a great gift for anyone, and I think that this game is suitable for all ages, since it is a great family game.
This game has many different pieces that are all high quality and sturdy. There are a couple of different animals, but everything is made of cardboard.
This game is interactive and is based on the DVD’s Earth and Blue Planet.
I hope this review helps other people looking for this item or other similar products on Amazon.
For anyone who has followed the David Attenborough documentaries, this is the perfect interactive family game. With Christmas around the corner I was looking for a good game for the family to play. This is the first interactive game I have tried and they are leaps and bounds ahead of the old way of moving pieces around a board.
The game should work on any laptop, phone or tablet and shows clips from the BBC Earth series, In addition to the cards and board that you move pieces around. You get a stand in the box for a phone or tablet. The pieces are in the shape of 4 different animals.
I would recommend this as a family activity, especially as it promotes the BBC Earth Series and the importance of the animal kingdom and all its wonders.
Hopefully my review has been helpful
This will make a wonderful gift for children or adults but I think it’s a family game that will suit all generations. I know my 89 year old father-in-law will enjoy playing with us at Christmas, he has all the Earth and Blue Planet DVD’s. Me, hubby and my son enjoy interactive games, although they’ve come a long way since the DVD ones! We watched the Blue Planet series as a family when my son was young, so this game really appeals to all of us.
I only had time to open the box and inspect the parts but I was impressed with the quality of the parts and solid animals. The cardboard tablet holder fits together 2 different ways depending if you are using a phone or tablet. You can play without streaming too. All the parts fit neatly back under the boards which folds into a quarter after use. We are looking forward to playing this when our house isn’t upside down whilst decorating. I will update the review later on regarding the playing experience though.
