I like the phone but the fingerprint sensor is annoyingly bad on the lock screen yet it works perfectly everytime when it’s needed to open apps. I’ve tried deleting my fingerprints, changing fingers and starting again and downloaded all of the updates available but the problem persists. Hopefully a future update will sort it, if not then I’ll just grin and bear i
Must admit this purchase was the result of a broken screen on my Pixel 6a, though I wanted to stick to familiar territory.
Ultimately very happy with my purchase, as expected with the Pixel line you get a device that simply does what you need it to do at a very affordable price. I did notice that cameras have a slight improvement over its predecessor, albeit not an earth shattering change, overall still very happy with the shots I can get from something that fits in my pocket.
The addition of wireless charging which the 6a lacked does open some oppurtunities to clean up my work desk which is a welcome addition. Safe to say I’ll be using this device for quite some time.
I am very happy with the phone itself so far. However am disappointed in that I ordered Charcoal but Snow was delivered. Inconvenient to swap so have to live with what I did not order.
This is a good phone but takes a little time to get my settings right. My only criticism is that the “Google search bar” cannot be removed or relocated and the app suggestions when you use the “search bar” are very annoying.
love the phone excellent camera and battery life. the under screen fingerprint read is about 30% works unlike the pixel 2 finger print reader on the back, just awkward having to type password when it fails which it does a lot.
I like the size of the phone. It is compact for pocket and handbag and has all the features and my previous Samsung phone and performs just as well. However it needs an eye kept on battery performance as it drains quite quickly. It ‘died’ on a day out – once I noticed it had only 19 percent remaining I didn’t use it but it completely drained anyway. That’s my only gripe!
Camera is amazing, better than iphone 14 imo… But the battery sucks, it takes you to end of day on medium usage.
After a few days of usage without cover, i noticed some color issue on edge of camera line, so, I would recommend to buy cover for it as well
Replacement phone for my 10 year old Sony which could not support new apps and had poor reception in certain areas. Now able to have new apps and has good reception. Battery lasts about 4-5 days. Easy to use but still finding my way around it. Charger plug took some sorting out until shown how 3rd prong works. Charges super quick.
Battery life is ok but it is heavily loaded being used all day for work with multiple apps and lots of calls.
Charging speed is ok too, conected wirelessly in the car most of the time but fast charge via cable works well.
Camera is great but won’t get much use as it isn’t a feature I need very often but does scan reciepts very clearly with Xero-Me app.
So far, I’m impressed and although only 128Gb, I don’t see myself needing more in the forseeable future.
This is a Mid-Budget phone with High-Budget quality.
I’m amazed how good is google pixel 7a, fast, easy setup, very good camera & battery life longer than advertised. Interacts easily with other devices/brands. Very honest and reliable phone, doesn’t look cheap, solid screen material and sharp image quality. Price is very good considering it even comes with the charger on the Amazon deal. Slick design and comfortable keyboard. Super smart phone !
This is a really great phone, let down by its less-than-impressive reception. I can be sat in the car with my wife who owns the cheaper Pixel 7a and she can surf the internet with ease when I can’t even get a signal, even though we’re both with the same carrier.
Right from the outset, this phone feels like a steal for its price. For the bundle that includes the phone and a 30W charger, the asking price seems almost too good to be true. But rest assured, the Pixel 7a delivers on every count. Starting with performance, the Pixel 7a runs like a dream. It comes with the latest Android updates and during my time with it, not once did I encounter any freezes or lags. The experience was smooth, fluid, and incredibly satisfying.
The camera is where this phone truly shines. The wide-angle lens is a photographic powerhouse that can capture stunning images with a degree of detail and colour accuracy that is nothing short of a masterpiece. Whether you’re an avid photographer or someone who loves to capture life’s moments on the go, this camera will not disappoint.
One of the most impressive features of this bundle is the inclusion of a free 30W fast charger, as mentioned above. This charger juices up the phone rapidly, ensuring you’re ready to roll in no time. Moreover, with 24-hour battery life, this phone is designed to go the distance. It’s a fantastic combination that adds value to the entire package. To top it all, the phone has a sleek, modern design and comes in an elegant charcoal shade. It’s visually appealing and feels good to hold and use.
To wrap it up, the Google Pixel 7a is a delightful phone. It offers top-notch performance, a phenomenal camera, a long-lasting battery, and comes with a fast charger – all at a very competitive price. Would I recommend it? Absolutely, without a hint of doubt. This is one of the best Android phones I’ve tested in this price range, and it sets the bar high for other smartphones in the market. If you’re on the lookout for an affordable yet high-performing smartphone, this one should definitely be on your shortlist.
Now that that is out of the way…
It’s a great phone for the price and I downgraded from a Xiaomi 12! The rear camera quality is good, the front’s OK for what it is. The performance of the phone is amazing, despite benchmarking lower than a SnapDragon 8 Gen 1 but as it’s so very well optimised it just runs fluid. After going through so many different android phones I think I’ll be sticking with Pixel’s from now on! No bloat, fluid performance, NFC reader is fast, battery life is decent.
No regrets downgrading my phone, the Xiaomi 12 is a great flagship phone but it runs hot, the battery sucks, the camera app chokes/stutters during opening/taking a picture/closing. I don’t have any of these issues with the Pixel!
Quick summary:
Pros:
– OLED 6.1″ Front Screen – carries the Google quality. Unrivalled full HD, far better contrasts, colour saturation than typical LED screens found in similar phones in this price range.
– Pixel standard, high quality cameras. Good quality sensors combined with Google’s software makes for a well utilised combo delivering above-average camera ability for the price tag.
– 4K Rear Video recording (albeit at 30FPS, this is still great to have).
– Night sight is phenomenal to have on a phone of this price. Offers a great solution to very dim settings.
– Ultra-wide Rear Camera – Great for amateur photographers.
– Magic Eraser. Worked great, touched up photos in seconds.
– 7.5W Wireless Charging! Ideal for on-the-go.
– 5G & 4G Support.
– Fantastic battery life. Lasted a day of average use for me easily.
– Phone hardware feels well utilised with the software – offering a smooth experience.
– Smoothness is promoted by lovely 90Hz screen refresh rate.
– IP67 Waterproof – no need to worry about water damage due to dust/rain.
– Comfortable in hand.
– More premium design than 6A predecessor.
– In-screen finger print scanner is responsive & haven’t encountered any issues.
– Face ID worked no issues, but found finger print to be quicker.
– Years of software & security support.
Cons:
– No SD card expansion.
– Charging speeds of 18W Wired & 7.5W Wireless are quite slow.

– Quite large bezels around the screen.
– No headphone jack (could be considered negligible by some).
– 50 more expensive on release than 6A predecessor.
– Glossy plastic back attracts scratches.
– No adaptive refresh option, can either be set at 60Hz or 90Hz.

Overall, the pixel 7A offers a fantastic option for a budget phone with some particular features being the camera, the classic Pixel standout, being a key reason for choice over other phones. Benefit of going Google with your phone choice is the utilisation of the hardware by the software and this is something you don’t have to worry about as it comes with years of future updates & support. A popular Google feature is the Magic Eraser and this comes with the 7A although it’s noted you may have to perform a software update if it does not appear straight away for you.
The battery life is phenomenal, probably helped by the software, and lasted a day of typical use with ease. For lighter use cases, you can definitely see it stretching few days. I recommend choosing the Google Pixel Charger bundle as the charging speeds aren’t fantastic to begin with and would not want to risk going any slower with a 3rd party charging option.
The display is OLED, full HD and offers a great experience for the 6.1″ screen size. The display has refresh options of 60Hz & 90Hz, the latter will reduce your battery life but improve the user experience so really up to your use case. Drawback of the display is the bezels which go around the edges of the screen which for me, age it a little but found I don’t take much notice of it when I’m actively using the phone.
What I’m most let down by is the lack of storage expansion. 128Gb quickly fills up and means you must rely on cloud storage, especially for photos. This will begin as free but might start costing you monthly as time progresses.
In conclusion, this is a great budget phone, with some drawbacks as you expect for the price-point. The display and camera technology is unmatched for the money and benefits of Google software really shows when it comes to the fluidity of the experience.
Well for the money an absolute bargain!
The only issue I have with it is the finger print recognition is very hit and miss, shame really.
