Great lights and easy to link to other sets of Govee Led lights with there app. I’ve got 5 sets on the go and can link all 5 or individually or multiple in the living room. WiFi and Bluetooth also compatible with Alexa I’d definitely buy more.. 5* from me
Easy to use, great app, lots of modes and gives you the ability to make your own. They’re very bright and able to illuminate your room on there own which works amazing with there wake up feature for the mornings. 10M turned out the be far to long for me so make sure you measure everything before setting up
These lights are set up in my room, so I use them every day. The app is very good if you want to be specific with the colour of the light, one of the features is that you can select a segment of the light strip and change that segment’s colour and brightness. You can also set scenes with the app. I mainly use my Amazon Alexa to control my lights, a couple simple commands. (“Alexa turn on/off the lights”, “Alexa set lights to (colour)”)
However in my opinion they aren’t as bright as I would’ve hoped.
Better than my Hue light strips for a fraction of the price. Annoying to have another app on my phone but it’s easily controlled through my Google Home app and by voice. Will buy more when I need more light strips. Very easy for me to recommend.
Initially bought a cheaper Tuya-based WiFi LED strip however it arrived and wouldn’t work. I’ve had similar flaky experiences with cheap WiFi LED strips in the past. Govee have a good reputation so opted to grab this for ~20 intending to run it behind and underneath my TV cabinets.
Tested this upon arrival and it seemed to be working fine. Was able to run it where I wanted, however realised after sticking the strip down along an awkward run that the LEDs weren’t on after about 1.5m of the strip. Pulled the run off thinking I’d only use the first ~1.5m for a shorter run just underneath the cabinets instead of behind also.
As we were re-sticking the strip just underneath the cabinets the rest of it suddenly came back to life. I ended up just running the strip underneath the cabinets and snipped off the end at the first available cut point. Even with it working it does seem a little temperamental during fitting – having the strip stuck down occasionally stops some of the later LED sections working – so I had to have a couple of small 1in sections hanging unattached from the underside. Not sure what’s causing the strip to short or fail in places but it’s now attached and working and looking good alongside my Ambilight TV.
The Govee Home app is easy to use and gives you plenty of scenes. The app can connect to the strip over Bluetooth but the strip itself can connect to WiFi for control via Alex, Google Home, or Home Assistant. The device can also have LAN control enabled via the app for removing reliance on the internet.
The colour reproduction is good, as is brightness. At the ~20 price point it’s definitely worth it!
Delighted with the lights (2 sets), and give off a fantastic LED. Only negative is one of the sets has stopped working with the app which means I need to get off my arse and turn them off, first world problems eh. Other than that, will buy again!
Although I had a bit of trouble with a couple of banks of LED’s, Govee were really quick at resolving the issue via their app. Five stars even if it was for customer service.
You can cut these to size unlike what the other reviews say. Every 4 lights there’s a cut mark . Simple to install and the best led lights I’ve had so far. Would recommend to anyone.
These lights were really easy to install with simple instructions on connecting to Alexa. It wasn’t quite long enough to go round the whole base of a small double bed aswell as the head board so I peeled it off and re-stuck it along the inside of the headboard and visible side of the bed.
My daughter is chuffed to bits with them.
Govee are in my opinion the best leds out there. Their range is ever expanding and its good to finally see them get the recognition they deserve. The led strip was easy to install, the brightness levels can be changed on the govee app or with an Alexa device. With it being rgbic each individual led can change colour as opposed to cheaper led strips that can only change all the leds to the same colour.
Once connected to an Alexa device you can change so much and set timers for the led light strip to activate whenever you want.
Highly recommend to anyone.
Good & easy is use. Lots of colours & Presets.
Not addressable leds. The whole strip turners to one colour at a time but some colours have a slight glimmer of different colours shades with some colours choices.
Looks cool. Very Bright & the DIY mode using the app has a combo selection of Jump, fade, twinkle. With speed control.
For best results use diffuser’s or hide behind furniture. Music mode response well.
Recommended for the price. Great for kids room & good for any room.
Sparks & glitter’s at night. 5 meters good lenght too.
Easy to set up, plenty bright enough for me and an endless choice of what you want it to do. Got it on offer and for that it was very good value
Put in bedroom and very good, it appears with most smart bulbs they only prefer 2ghz wifi though. Easy to pair up although through their own app which isn’t a bad thing as their is loads of adaptability and functions to do including making your own. Working with alexa no problem and have grouped lights together in Alexa with smart bulbs and govee need name them seperately in govee and I’m using SMART Life app for the smart bulbs again it helps to rename them as you wish eg table, light A, top what ever you like then you can group them accordingly.
IMPORTANT if broken.
Please be gentle with them as to my dismay I managed to tear the strip about 1 metre from the inline switch but after watching utube I bought some joiners (make sure they are correct SIZE! 10MM AND 4 CONTACTS FOR LED FLAT STRIPPING NOT LED WIREING ) and “cut out the section – look for 4 copper strips then mine was 8 leds until the next section cut the strip evenly of the copper contacts and then using 2 joiners to mend the strip as advised put the strip UNDER THE JOINER Contacts”. mine after some wriggling and inserting a couple times have given me back working RBGIC LIGHTS WITH ALL FUNCTIONALITY.
I have used quite alot of govee lights, these are very good , and really are the best ones yet , however they did develop a fault after a few days of using them , but I got in touch with customers services and they got back to me straight away and arrange a replacement which came the next day, Very happy with both the lights and the customer service.
I use for my daughters room as she has autism so these really help to make her room more sensory friendly.
I would definitely recommend for any room or setting!
Love Govee I now have 6 Govee lights and wanting more as they are amazing everyone that comes to my home comment on how I have my lighting set plus when me and my wife fancies a night in together if you know what I mean setting the lights can make the room so romantic thanks Govee
Great lights so far. These are the segmented type where you can personalise each part (even the individual brightness). I wrapped it around my bed and left it at 50% brightness, and its bright enough to me.
The app isa lot, but you can choose colour themes, make your own, set timers, etc. The nice thing was a button saying “Link account” to connect the lights to Alexa. That was it. No downloading Alexa skills or bouncing between apps.
No telling how long the lights will last —or if they’ll wreck the surface I stuck it on when I move out—but so far they look good.
These RGBIC lights are by far the best I have found. I have a few sets of led lights around the house which are let down by their software which controls them. The software which comes with these is second to none. No badly written English or functionality which doesn’t work. I wanted a rainbow effect around my TV and these did exactly what I wanted. See picture for the configuration of the lights. Both my Alexa and Google home turn these lights on or off as I request. They also run on a timer which doesn’t fail.
I had one set stop working and I contacted the customer support and after trying some diagnostics, I was sent a new set which I have installed and they work great. I like that you can set different brightness levels, as the lights on the stairs don’t need to be as bright.
There are so many different settings to choose from in the app. I highly recommend these lights
Fantastic LED lights that I purchased for my daughter and myself. My daughter has had 3 other makes from supermarkets and all have fallen down and 2 went faulty.
Govee LEDs are the total opposite and have stayed stuck to the wall and never moved, the brightness is idea, but if needed they do a brighter version for larger rooms (which I’ll be purchasing soon) and the phone app is really easy to install, setup and use.
If there is anything my daughter feels needing to be improved, it’s a basic thing of improving or describing how the DIY features work. Eg. Combo setting. Very easy to solve, but you can still mostly work it out for yourself.
These lights are great have bought them for varying locations now. The app controlling them is brilliant and they seem to integrate well with Alexa with good options to integrate into routines.
CUTTING
Govee and various other say you can’t cut these. Well on truth you can as long as they are reconnected in the same sequence and length. Effectively they program each segment so it knows what number it is in the chain. So you can cut them up but you need to maintain all the pieces and maintain them in the same order. So if you like me need to extend to get over a gap where the lighting will not be then you can add in some cable carefully to do this. Obviously if this gap is too big the affect may look poorer for chasing lights etc. as the light will seem to jump the gap but that was fine with me.
Hope this helps someone
