Hasbro Gaming Monopoly Game: Ultimate Banking Editio
Hasbro Gaming Monopoly Game: Ultimate Banking Editio
The Modern Monopoly Experience
In this edition, players can instantly buy properties, set rent, and tap their way to fortune, and it takes only about 30 minutes to complete a game. Event cards and Location spaces take the place of Chance cards and Community Chest cards. But players can still get sent to Jail! Land on an Event Space and rents may be raised or lowered, a player may earn or lose money – or get sent to Jail. Location Spaces let players pay to move to any property space on the board—even Boardwalk!

If you are bored playing the normal monopoly this definitely gives it a more modern twist. It’s so much better than having to deal with the paper money.. no more losing it or it getting crumpled and ruined.
It is a great upgrade to the classic games and I think the games are shorter which is an added bonus! It has brought our family many hours of fun. It needs batteries for the first time but they last for ages before needing to replace them.
It is one of the best monopoly’s they’ve brought out, I would definitely recommend.
My daughter loves this game and this version limits the time spent to an hour.
My 11 yr old is a huge monopoly fan. This game is great as it’s not as lengthy as the traditional monopoly so you can set an hour aside to play it as oppose to a full day! Great game, card systems easy once you’ve read the instructions 🙂
“A great addition to the family board games, hours or endless fun”
Likes:
– It’s a classic.
– Easy to play
– Hours if easy fun
– Fun for all the family
Dislikes:
– Adverised as meant to be faster gameplay, felt like it wasn’t any faster. It felt longer if not the same but still great fun!
This is a fantastic version of the origional game. The rule tweaks and up to date format have really revitilised the gameplay and reduced game time. It is no longer a drawn out slog to reach the inevitable conclusion of the gameboard being thrown into the fire exposing a secret stash of money under a player’s side of the board. Our family fell out and resorted to low level violence inside three laps of the board.
In todays busy world where attention spans are shortened and yoof look for instant gratification this game is a hit.
You can set up, play, fall out put it away and not be talking to each other inside, I guess about 30 minutes. Splendid.
Absolutely love this game. Went on holiday with friends and we played this game in the evenings. Came straight home and bought one. The whole family loves it as it does not take too long to play.
Great to see my 13 year old putting down her technology and enjoying this version of monopoly with the family. It helps with a bit of technology included in the game so she still gets a little fix.
We loved playing this game. The first time you play, it’s a bit confusing but you just have to follow the information on the sheet during play. Once you have played it then it’s fine. The game is faster and more fun and you don’t have to have a banker because you all use the machine with the cards. Lot’s of fun and now it would be boring to go back to the old model. (plus the husband couldn’t cheat or coerce players into giving him their cards !!lol )
It’s a big improvement on the original, but if you are looking for the original gameplay, this isn’t for you. The rules are very different and there is very little left of the original. Personally I think it is better.
The future is here and it has contactless everywhere!
Played this with my family over Easter and we had loads of fun. It finished quick, but still worth it.
Imagine being able to buy a property with your bank card lol.
The electronic console keeps track of who owns which properties, the payment for rent, and how much money everyone has (cash is replaced by a chip & (no)pin style bankcard in this version). Some nice touches include not needing to own a set and automatic development of properties, the new special “take a trip” spaces, and an end to the free parking arguments.
Falling short of 5-stars though: removal of a few properties means each side of the board is 9 rather than 10 properties long, taking slightly longer to count out each move; and the plastic houses are redundant, never staying in the right spot (not just anywhere on the property now) as players roll dice and move around the board (unless you’re way more careful than we are!)
Entertaining but I actuallt prefer the old system, don’t like restrictions such as not being able to decide whether to buy or not, no bonus for having complete street etc. Plus side: nice to use credit card & not notes, but all rather remote controlled. Grandchildren had great fun..
Brilliant game. We played this with our grandson aged 8. The game lasted an hour. There was no haggling the banker machine took control over everything . The game ended when the first player was bankrupt. We would recommend this item highly.
This is a great game. It takes some getting used to if you’ve previously played traditional Monopoly with paper cash, but once you’ve been round the board a couple of times it is great. The kids love using the cards and were expert in no time. It is also quicker to setup and play once you know what you are doing.
While the original monopoly may have taken a lifetime to play, this one can be completed in under an hour. This is good because you actually get to finish the game. However some the rent rates are actually ridiculous, with some properties you can get your money back within one land! Also there is a traveling feature that lets you move anywhere on the board if you pay 100$ (quite cheap). This is very overpowered as you can move directly to Mayfair and the other top end properties.
I like the contactless machine because it calculates all the costs for you and works out all the rent rates.
Overall a fun game for kids but for teens and adults it’s too easy.

Excellent game, not as big a board as the original and can be a bit confusing if your used with the old board but after the first game you’ll be a pro!
2 adults, a 9yr old and 12yr old and we’re all happy with it.
Definitely recommend
This game is really fun. Takes three triple A batteries though so don’t forget to order these too. You use an electronic register that has a touch code system. Each card is touched when played against the system and all cards have a unique code that it recognises, event cards are used instead of chance or community chest and these all make sounds with the system which correspond to the card. You don’t have to collect sets to get top rents or build which makes for a much quicker game. There are only four game pieces though so more can’t play.
Item as described and super fast delivery. The game itself was easy to work out after a few goes and unlike the original monopoly you can’t carry on playing if one person drops out, its also obvious who the winner is if there is just 2 of you and almost similar if there are 3 of you. I liked the concept but I think it needs a little more work to perfect it.
Brilliant! Reading the rules it sounded daunting, but once we were off it was quite simple with all the maths done by the electronic part of the game! The kids thought it was great and a complete game took around an hour. Only draw back as I can see is that there is a maximum of four players
Monopoly is totally the bane of my board game life.
My daughter loves this game and though we had a bog standard, sorry, classic version, she really absolutely needed this version. Bought it as a surprise and she absolutely loves it.
In every respect, this is a good game, though doesn’t have the finish quality that the classic version has – very plastic. Bit noisy too but the kids seem to love it for it. My daughter assures me that it is a better game due to the changes in the rules, but seriously, it doesn’t seem to play any quicker than the classic version.
Still, seems to meet all her expectations.
I’m giving a 4 star since with the way society is going cards are the In thing! I prefer the old fashioned handing over the money in the game. I personally feel like it takes a lil fun away than sitting with the bundles of cash! But kids loved it and still play.
This is a really good update on the original monopoly. The electronic device counts everything up for you and keeps tally about who has what properties. At the end of the game it works out the winner for you saving time and arguments. All the fun of monopoly without amy of the hassle of keeping track money etc. Would definitely reccomend.
I am a big Monopoly fan but can only very rarely get my family to play due to how long the game take (that and they hate losing to me). With this version however the game is much quicker but still with all the fun and better still it really is for all of the family with even my 4 year old niece being able to play it. I am very happy with it indeed.
This is a great modern twist on the game. Gone is the cash, and now you have a machine that beeps and scans cards. The machine beeps and flashes, and could by annoying. You need to scan the players credit card, house card and/or chance card, this is after pressing the right button the correct number of times. So, it is not any quicker then the cash version, but it is great fun.
The playing pieces are cheap plastic and not as nice as the original pieces. There are a few new rules , which add a different element to the game. Overall though this is a great game. And it is a lot of fun to play. It is does not take forever to play. If you like monopoly you will love this version.
Fun for the whole family! A peculiar slant on the classic game, focused on ‘fast transactions’ 🙂
The ‘cash machine’ keeps account of everything, properties value, balance and so on.
Nice!
Good product, though slightly more complicated to play than many of the other Monopoly versions my son has. Am impressed by the whole “chip and pin” concept implemented here but it does sometimes feel a bit contrived and my son seems to miss the presence of physical tender (ie the bank notes). Still another Monopoly to add to the collection.
I would call this a Fast paced Children’s version of the original. No mathematics required. Quite the opposite to the original. Not really for me but Our kids love it. Literally played everyday since Christmas. You will need to have some patience to read the instructions but after that the use of the reader and cards becomes intuitive. You no longer need to own sets nor build hoses. You rents are adjusted every time a player lands on your property. The chance cards give you the opputuinty to swap cards with players against there will. Lo.l and raise rents or drop them. Each games lasts around 45 mins with four players and you cannot trade so if you like a bit of banter and games that roll into the night this is not for you. Overall though happy families ! Thank you
This is fab, especially if you have a cheater in the house who helps themselves to the bank’s cash, when they think no-one is looking as its all stored on a “card reader”. We have played this several times though it can get tedious if you are not the banker.
Got this for my nine year old granddaughter who loves it – the only reason for the lost star is only 4 players can play and our family is bigger than tha
Perfect game for the Family. Arguments tend to be avoided as the game is simplified and everything is counted on the system.
The game is however a bit too short and is only for 4 players max. Once the first player is out then the game is over which cuts it a bit shorter than I’d like.
All the family had fun playing this, I know the card version had been out for a while but they have really perfected it with this version of the game, you scan all your transactions including purchases and everything else, each credit card is unique for you and you scan your token so every time you make a transaction it makes the noise of your token!
This game was a gift for my 6 year olds birthday. He loves monopoly (all the variations) and usually wins as well!
We had played a similar older version of electronic monopoly with a sort of chip and pin machine. He really enjoyed that and it made the game a lot quicker.
Pros
-The game is quicker to play than the standard games as there is no counting out or organising money (it’s all done electronically)
-It’s fun and modern and there’s no fiddly houses and hotels rolling all over the board every time the dog walks past (there is only 1 house per property)
-In a world where children are now growing into such a technological age, it is more fitting for them to be swiping cards and doing things electronically.
Cons
-The unit doesn’t come with batteries so make sure you have some to hand (3 x aaa)
-It doesn’t have the counting and handling of money which is good for children to learn, which is part of the standard game.
-There can only be 4 players.
-The electronic unit is a little hard to get to grips with. Scanning the cards can be quite difficult but once you get to grips with it it does feel easier to use.
Overall
I’m not sure it’s better than standard monopoly (can this be beaten?) But is a nice addition if you are monopoly lovers and want something a bit different.
Fast delivery, received the next day. I bought this game so I can play it with family in LA over christmas. Because I haven’t played monopoly since it had the cat, dog and car version I thought I’d better read the game guide. I did a run through and played by myself (I know that sounds pretty depressing but I wanted to make sure I made the right decision making my purchase).
First thing you notice about the Ultimate Banking version of this game is that there’s obviously no cash or hotels. I am quite disappointed by the “no hotels” aspect of the game because during my lone gameplay I kept forgetting to move my housed up the rent levels but with the banking unit you can easily keep track of what level your houses are at. Although Chance and Community Chest spaces have also evidently been removed from the game there are Events and Location spaces in their places. I have to admit as much as I enjoyed the Location spaces I don’t think its fair to pay not only the Location fee but also the space you move to. I had to remind myself of how to process the Location spaces because its new but after a few goes with this space you get the hang of it. Another thing that has been removed from the game board are water works, railroad and income tax which I was disappointed about as well.
I would’ve preferred it if the tokens weren’t plastic and were of the cat, dog, top hat etc instead of the boat, car etc.
The Banking unit is extremely easy to use. You will need 3 AAA batteries for the unit. I really enjoyed playing using the banking unit but I must point out that because the bank cards are made out of card and not plastic like in the Electronic Banking instalment of the game the cards may get bendy especially when you try scanning the cards and it doesn’t scan first time round. The banking unit is quite loud for my liking especially if you’re playing in the middle of the night with a houseful of people so you may not want to do that haha.
The game still includes Go To Jail, Just Visiting, Free Parking and Pass Go – obviously because it wouldn’t be monopoly with them. The only part of the game I am yet to get the hang of is the Auction part of it. Maybe cos I only played through twice but I’m sure I’ll get better at Auctions.
So in conclusion, if you don’t mind that there’s no hotel, no cash and a few other things that have either changed or been replaced this is a great game to play. It doesn’t take as long to play as the monopoly games where you can physically count out your cash.
I hope this review is helpful to people looking for a monopoly game with a different twist. Enjoy 🙂
Good game, shorter game than others, not able to use money on Free parking, only 9 spaces on each side instead of 10, has some negotiating you can still do. Opportunity to win owned property from other players, that is quite fun, only max 4 players, you all have debit cards instead of money, makes this quite modern with times. Overall I like it, it is better than the previous credit/debit card one. Regards James Norma
My son of 12yrs bought this game and absolutely loves it! Comes with credit cards and card reader that keeps track of everyone`s transactions and totals. Really fun gadget that has lots of amusing sounds to make the game very entertaining. Needs 3 AAA batteries.
Great twist on the classic game, more fun and doesn`t take 20hrs to play!
